Mitsuoka Viewt story

Since 1993, the Mitsuoka Viewt has forever known as the Nissan March in a Jaguar Mark 2 clothing from the K11 model to the K13 model. When Nissan stopped making the March at the end of 2022, most observers said that this was the end of the road for the Mitsuoka Viewt. However, the Viewt's story is never done as it took a detour to the Toyota side for the new model.

2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story
2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story

This is the all-new Mitsuoka Viewt story, the newest version of the Viewt that is now based on the fourth-generation Toyota Yaris hatchback. That's right. Ever since the discontinuation of the Nissan March, its long-time host car, at the end of 2022, the Viewt's will lives on in its new host car, the Toyota Yaris. For 2.8 million Japanese Yen plus additional costs, you can now have a fancied-up Toyota Yaris if you disagree with the Yaris's sporty looks.

2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story
2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story

In classic Viewt tradition, it mimics the Jaguar Mark 2 styling as seen from its Nissan March-derived predecessors but because this is based on the fourth-generation Toyota Yaris, there's no hiding the fact that this is actually a Yaris in a Jaguar Mark 2 attire. It's about as fancy as an anime girl in Sherlock Holmes' attire, metaphorically speaking.

2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story
2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story interior

Yes, you can expect the same interior from the Yaris as well, meaning it's nicer to live than its March-derived predecessor, probably because of the TNGA platform underneath. It seats up to five people and has up to 768 liters of boot space with the passenger seats folded down in case you're in the middle of delivery work if you're into that.

2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story
2024 Mitsuoka Viewt story

Because it's based on the Yaris, the Viewt story is powered by a choice of two petrol engines, a Dynamic Force 1.5L, and a 1.0L, and the hybrid variant is powered by a 1.5L Hybrid Dynamic Force powertrain (engine + electric motor + li-ion battery), a first for a Viewt. All variants are mated to CVT but the front-wheel-drive 1.5L variant comes with an available six-speed manual gearbox while all 1.5L variants, petrol or hybrid, come with available 4WD, giving you plenty of reasons to enjoy the Viewt story.

In terms of safety, the Viewt story is packed with numerous advanced safety features such as Pre-Crash Safety, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, Road Sign Assist, secondary collision brake, parking support brake, blind spot monitor, panoramic view monitor, and others.

Having the Viewt migrated from the now-defunct Nissan March to the Toyota Yaris is a difficult thing to do but this new version found itself a new lease of life in its new host. It really is the "second coming" for the Mitsuoka Viewt and it's even more livelier than before.

Available colors: Tulle Top Black Mica, Berry Purple, Pumps Red, Dressy White Pearl, Pistachio Khaki, Cut Sew Gray, Gateau Chocolate Metallic, Turquoise Blue Metallic, Terracotta Orange Mica, Beige Gilet, Coral Beige Metallic, and Washed Denim Blue.

Lamborghini Revuelto

The Lamborghini Aventador marked the end of an era of purely internal combustion engine-powered Lamborghinis that became the hallmark of its six-decade heritage. As the next chapter begins, a new page of Lamborghini's history has been written. Welcome to the Lamborghini Revuelto.

2024 Lamborghini Revuelto
2024 Lamborghini Revuelto

Costing half a million Euros plus additional costs, the first-ever Lamborghini Revuelto takes over the Aventador's reigns as the new V12 king of the Lamborghini lineage and it uses most of the teachings learned from the electrified V12 series limited machines, the Sian and the reborn Countach.

2024 Lamborghini Revuelto
2024 Lamborghini Revuelto

Beginning with the styling, the Revuelto features elements inspired by the Sian, making this electrified flagship indistinctively Lamborghini in every angle, making it too cool to be missed by anyone who is living under a rock. I'm talking about you, Gran Turismo, Forza, and any racing video game I know and love that comes with real-life cars to play with. With such looks, the Revuelto is surely becoming the hypercar worth coveting.

2024 Lamborghini Revuelto
2024 Lamborghini Revuelto interior

Inside, the Revuelto matches the functionalities of its opposition such as having a tall touchscreen just like a McLaren, the information display above the glove compartment just like the Ferrari, and just like its Aventador predecessor, the ignition switch inspired by fighter jets. Although stuffed with infotainment and connectivity features that don't make sense in a two-seater hypercar like this, the interior matches the Revuelto's character.

2024 Lamborghini Revuelto
2024 Lamborghini Revuelto

Now, we get to the main event of the Revuelto, the electrified performance that signals the new start for Lamborghini. The 825PS 6.5L V12 engine is connected to a rear P2-P3 eMotor, front e-axle, and a Li-ion high specific power battery with pouch cells, generating a total power output of 1015PS of power output. Mated to an 8-speed e-DCT, it has a 0-100kph time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 350kph. Judging by the stats, that's more than you get from its main rival, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

It's not just the electrified performance that sets the road and track on fire, it's the dynamics that made the Revuelto beyond compare. With a carbon fiber bodywork, active rear wing, double wishbones with Lamborghini Magneride dampers, electric power steering, Carbon Ceramic Brakes Plus, and a new generation Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics, whichever driving style you're at, this new era Lamborghini is the most addictive hypercar to drive from Rome to Monza. Once you set foot with it, there's no turning back.

For a half-a-million-euro electrified hypercar that rewrites the rules of Lamborghini, the Revuelto is no doubt the sensation of 2023, and with its styling, technology, performance, and dynamics that set the world ablaze, this is the hypercar that deserves to be called the top star of the revue. Hypercar Revue, that is, because you can't say "Revuelto" without "revue".

Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

The third all-original Mercedes-EQ SUV, the EQE SUV, serves as the middleman of the Mercedes-EQ crossover range. So, what's it all about the first-ever EQE SUV? Time for some unanswered questions.

2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV
2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

Starting at 83.478.50 Euros plus additional costs, the EQE SUV is the third all-original Mercedes-EQ SUV that slots between the EQC and the EQS SUV, the middleman of the range. Although it couldn't find a suitable opponent in its class, in terms of sizing and pricing, the EQE SUV feels unrivaled at the moment.

2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV
2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

As expected, the EQE SUV is basically an EQS SUV that was shrunk to GLE sizing but despite the Russian doll effect, the EQE SUV is athletic and dynamic in every angle. Who says electric crossovers can't be sexy?

2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV
2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV interior

Inside, the EQE SUV's dashboard can be configured in two ways; a tall touchscreen that works like a Tesla or the super-sized touchscreen that occupies the entire dashboard which is known as the MBUX Hyperscreen. On the passenger side, the EQE SUV is good for up to five people and because it's too expensive to be used as a family mover, the only purpose the EQE SUV can do is escort pro-democracy politicians, philanthropists, and other good people who care the environment more than anything else. As for the boot space, it can carry up to 1,675 liters of goods with the split-folding rear bench folded down. For business or leisure, the EQE SUV does it all.

The base EQE 300 SUV variant has 180kw of power output and 573km of driving range based on WLTP standards while the EQE 350 can be configured in either rear-wheel-drive or with 4MATIC, producing 292 PS of power, 565 Nm of torque, and driving range between 480-590 km per WLTP standards, and the top-of-the-line EQE 500 4MATIC with 408 PS of power output, 858 Nm of torque output, and driving range between 460-547 km.

2024 Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 SUV

Those who want more should consider the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV range. In addition to signature AMG elements inside and out, the high-performance models are bolted to a 90.6 kWh Li-ion battery pack with a maximum recuperation capacity of 260 kW.

The EQE 43 SUV has 476PS of power and 858Nm of torque, making it capable of going 0-100kph in 4.3 seconds and flat-out at 210kph. The EQE 53 SUV, meanwhile, produces 625PS of power and 950Nm of torque by default but thanks to an optional extra, stats have raised to 687ps and 1,000Nm, making it capable of a 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h.

Although the driving feel is rather mild because of the bulk of the electric powertrain or probably it needs the added subscription service that makes it sharper to drive, the EQE SUV features a high level of passive and active safety such as Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Parking Package, and Speed Limit Assist as standard.

The Assistance Package (includes Active Distance Assist Distronic, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist) and Driving Assist Plus Package (Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, cross-traffic functions, Evasive Steering Assist, Pre-Safe Plus) are optional extras for added levels of safety.

For an unrivaled electric luxury crossover that has the looks of the EQS SUV and the size of the GLE, the EQE SUV takes pride in being a class of its own because not a single luxury electric crossover dared enough to challenge. Maybe someday, someone will.

Genesis GV80 (2024MY Minor Change) & GV80 Coupe

The first SUV from Genesis, the GV80, has gained a minor change for the 2024 model year and the latest minor change brings an additional model to the range; the first-ever GV80 Coupe. So, what's it all about the GV80 minor change?

2024 Genesis GV80

2024 Genesis GV80 Coupe

Starting at 69,300,000 Korean Won plus additional costs, the GV80 minor change and the first-ever GV80 Coupe bring the first Genesis SUV to near ascension with its revised looks, interior, and performance you would expect for Korea's answer to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. There's more to expect from this latest facelift.

2024 Genesis GV80
2024 Genesis GV80

Beginning with the styling, the GV80 looks sleek and sporty with its new front design, new wheel designs, and a refined rear view, keeping it fresh after three years of service. The Coupe version, meanwhile, looks pretty much the same as the normal GV80 but with a sloping roofline mimicking its German opposition. That roofline means less space compared to the normal GV80 by about 91 liters with the second-row seats present but that's more stuff to store compared to the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe.

2024 Genesis GV80

The interior of the GV80 has been heavily revamped for this minor change, meaning the dashboard has been heavily reorganized to make room for the 27-inch OLED display where the instrumental cluster and the sat-nav join forces rather than working in separate ways. In addition, it even comes with a digital rear-view mirror, a built-in camera that is handy for spotting some sweet potatoes on the road, and an integrated controller which is rather complicated to use compared to touch screens.

The normal GV80 is offered with a choice of being a five-seater, a six-seater, and a seven-seater while the GV80 Coupe is offered only as a five-seater. It even comes with an available rear-seat entertainment system to keep your bosses in the second-row seats occupied while on the move or getting stuck in traffic.

2024 Genesis GV80 Coupe
2024 Genesis GV80 Coupe

The GV80 2024MY minor change features an all-petrol lineup consisting of a Smartstream G2.5T engine sourced from today's Hyundai Santa Fe MX5, producing 304PS of power and 43kgf-m of torque, and the ultra-powerful Smartstream G3.5L V6 turbo engine producing 380PS of power and 54kg-m of torque. Exclusive to the GV80 is the Smartstream G3.5L V6 turbo engine with a 48V electric supercharger producing 415PS of power and 56kgf-m of torque. All are mated to an 8-speed automatic.

Like the pre-facelifted model, the GV80 is rear-wheel drive as standard with an optional all-wheel drive system that works on all road conditions; be it tarmac, gravel, or snow. It even comes with an electronically controlled suspension with road preview, which allows the GV80 to recognize road conditions via the front camera. Although they're bulky to drive, these models behave just like the German opposition, nearly.

The facelifted GV80 is fully prepared with the most advanced safety features offered in its class such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with the additional Evasis Steering Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assistance, Highway Driving Assist 2, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, Surround View Monitor, Rear Parking Collision Avoidance Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

The facelifted Genesis GV80 and the first-ever GV80 Coupe promises to become the alpha of the Genesis lineup since its advent three years ago. Although it may be easily overshadowed by the Germans, this updated version promises to propagate itself into presence until it is fully recognized the world over. Be prepared.

2024 Ford Ranger
2024 Ford Ranger

Beginning with the design, the fifth-generation Ranger is more of a macho-sized version of its little brother, the Maverick, but unlike the Maverick, the all-new Ranger is still the macho man known the world over. From the bustling streets of the West Coast to the desert hills, this Ranger still asserts its Built Ford Tough mantra.

2024 Ford Ranger

Step inside, the all-new Ranger features a 12-inch center touchscreen with SYNC 4A, digital instrumental panels, climate control, a B&O sound system, and a wireless charging pad, among many others. Like its predecessor, it's offered only in a four-door SuperCrew but when asked about the space, it is slightly more spacious compared to its predecessor. It even has a wider track compared to its predecessor, meaning you can now load a full-sized 'Euro' pallet flat in the bed.

2024 Ford Ranger
2024 Ford Ranger Raptor

The fifth-generation Ford Ranger is powered by a choice of a 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder, a 2.7L EcoBoost V6, and a 3.0L EcoBoost V6, all are mated to a 10-speed automatic. The lesser one produces 270HP of power and 310lb-ft of torque while the so-called superior one produces 405HP of power and 430lb-ft of torque. All engine variants gave the Ranger a towing capacity of up to 7,500 lbs.

Depending on the variant, the Ranger is armed with the Ford Trail Control, five driving modes from Normal to Sport, independent front suspension with gas-pressurized shocks and a stabilizer bar, electronic shift-on-the-fly for 4x4 variants, electronic-locking rear differential, rear outboard mounted shocks, and increased track width, making it capable of handling the world's roughest conditions from the Scandinavian winter wonderland to a bridge over the River Kok.

The first-ever Ranger Raptor runs on the same 405HP 3.0L EcoBoost V6 but with a specially-developed 10-speed AT, a full-time 4x4 system with an Electromechanical Transfer Case, 10.7 inches of ground clearance, Ford Trail Control, electronic-locking rear differential, and Fox Racing shocks with Live Valve technology. With the signature Baja Mode set, the Ranger Raptor is ready to trailblaze through the Moab without going FUBAR. It's more than enough to crunch the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 alive in the open.

Asked about safety features, the all-new Ford Ranger is armed with driver-assist features such as Pre-Collision Assist, BLIS, Lane-Keeping System, Rear View Camera, and Auto High-Beam Headlamps. It even comes with a 360-degree camera, Active Park Assist 2.0, Pro-Trailer Backup Assist, Trailer Brake Controller, and Tow/Haul Mode on the transmission shifting, giving it better confidence behind the wheel.

The fifth-generation Ford Ranger continues to assert its world-proven credentials with its muscular new design, interior, performance, and technology that makes the Ford Ranger THE Ford Ranger, once and always. It's the official pickup truck of the new normal and whether you're ready or not, it's morphin' time, ladies and gentlemen. You're looking at the world's best Ford Ranger.

Subaru Levorg (VN5) Layback

With crossovers selling like Hollywood superheroes in movies and TV, the second-generation Subaru Levorg's not safe from the craze either because it now spawned a crossover version called the Layback, the just-sized alternative for those who think the Outback's too big for them.

2024 Subaru Levorg Layback

The Layback, a crossover derivative of the second-generation Levorg estate, is so weirdly named, it looks like it's made for those who are off for this weekend's swim meet because the name rhymes with a particular kind of speedo that swimmers wear during a swim meet.

2024 Subaru Levorg Layback
2024 Subaru Levorg Layback interior

While the styling is broadly similar to the current Levorg, the swimmer-friendly Layback features a different front view that differentiates it from the normal Levorg as well as the black claddings underneath and added ground clearance to give it a rugged feeling to this sport utility wagon. As for the inside, it still packs the Tesla-esque dashboard, 12.3-inch instrumental cluster, harman/kardon audio system, and seating for five with up to 561 liters of boot space, a hidden compartment, and a hands-free power liftgate, but the Layback is offered with a black-and-ash two-tone upholstery that matches the Layback's outdoor vibes.

While running on the Subaru Global Platform, the Layback feels more like a flyback rather than a racing back even with the SI-DRIVE set to Sport Mode. Still, with the signature Subaru Symmetrical AWD standard, the Layback's prepared to swim with the fishes, metaphorically speaking, from topless to bikini bottom.

Under the hood, the Layback's CB18 1.8L DOHC DIT engine produces 177PS of power and 300Nm of torque. Mated with a Lineartronic CVT, it promises a combined 13.6km/l based on WLTP standards.

With safety the true gold standard for Subaru, the Layback's armed with the latest Eyesight advanced driver-assist technology with Pre-Collision Braking, Autonomous Emergency Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Function, and Lane Departure Prevention. It even comes with Subaru Starlink which allows the driver to access numerous services such as SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts, Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.

The Layback starts at 3,993,000 Japanese Yen plus additional costs, which is cheaper to own than its big brother, the Legacy Outback. So, there you have it. If you're looking for a crossover wagon made by Subaru but the Outback's too big for you, consider the swimmer-friendly Layback your suitable option. Although weirdly named, the Layback's ready to make a splash, and you'd better get your swimming goggles and swim caps on because this Layback's got your flybacks.

Available colors: Ceramic White, Ice Silver Metallic, Magnetite Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Asteroid Rey Pearl, Sapphire Blue Pearl, and Ignition Red.

Fourth-Generation Kia Sorento (MQ4) - 2024 minor change

The fourth-generation Kia Sorento has gained its minor change for the 2024 model year. Packed with numerous revisions inside and out, the best-selling SUV from Kia is back for more having been on the road for three years.

2024 Kia Sorento
2024 Kia Sorento

Starting at 35,060,000 Korean Won plus additional costs, the facelifted Kia Sorento MQ4 continues to assert its dominance in its class with its revised looks, interior, and technology that will keep the best-seller afloat having spent three years of its service.

The biggest change for the recent minor change is the front and it now dons the EV9-styled nose, asserting its masculine looks. Apart from that, it features new wheel designs and slightly revised rear lamps that will keep the Sorento fresh and progressive in every detail.

2024 Kia Sorento
2024 Kia Sorento interior

The interior has been heavily revamped for the recent minor change as hinted by the redesigned dashboard that saw its airconditioning vents streamlined as well as featuring the Panoramic Curved Display that features two 12.3-inch screens (one for the instrumental cluster and the other for the sat-nav) in one extra-long monitor, and the questionable feature that combines radio controls and climate controls into one, not to mention the new seating designs that showcases its premium feel. Despite heavy changes on the driver's side, the Sorento is offered with a choice of either a five-seater, a six-seater, or a seven-seater, depending on the variant.

2024 Kia Sorento
2024 Kia Sorento

The facelifted Sorento is still offered with a choice of a Smartstream D2.2 engine, a powerful Smartstream G2.5T-GDi engine, and the 1.6L turbo-hybrid powertrain now offered with 4WD for the first time.

Mated to an 8-speed automatic, the diesel variant produces 194PS of power (8PS less than the old one) while fuel economy is around 12.7km/L. The 2.5L turbo variant, meanwhile, produces 281PS of power and 9.4km/L of fuel economy.

The turbo-hybrid variant with its 6-speed automatic transmission has a total power output of 235PS and a fuel economy of 16.6km/L for FF variants while the 4WD variants get 14km/L.

For safety, the Sorento is packed with numerous ADAS such as Highway Driving Assist 2, navigation-based smart cruise control, blind spot collision avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance assist, rear parking collision avoidance assist, and Lane Keeping Assist 2. Coupled with the multiple anti-collision automatic braking systems, advanced rear passenger notification, reverse guiding lamp, and 10 airbags, this is the safest Sorento ever made.

One of South Korea's best-selling vehicles just got better with this minor change and the Sorento's back for more.

Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S E Performance (X254)

The all-new Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S E Performance is the ultimate version of the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC crossover that pushes the boundaries of what a GLC can do and with such performance, this is the GLC that is too cool to be ignored by latecomers everywhere.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S E Performance
Coupe

Starting at 121,856 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new GLC63 S E Performance, in normal and coupe versions, is what happens when the second-generation GLC gains some superpowers and plans to use it either for good or for evil. Whatever path it crosses, the new model prefers to go nearly quietly unlike the old GLC63 from a distant past because of its electrified powertrain that is deemed controversial by AMG fanatics.

Although it looks similar to its lesser brother, the GLC43, with some minor alternations to its detailing in order to differentiate it from the lesser one, as well as the same interior that can be fitted with optional Performance Seats, the GLC63 S E Performance throws away the predecessor's V8 power in favor of the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine armed with the electric drive unit, AMG High-Performance Battery, belt-driven starter-alternator, and electric exhaust-gas turbocharger, creating a P3 Hybrid layout that produces 680PS of power output and 1,020Nm of torque, more than the previous model it replaces.

Mated to an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G gearbox, the GLC63 S E Performance can sprint from 0-100kph in 3.5 seconds, and with an optional extra, it has a top speed of 275kph, making it the quickest GLC ever spawned.

Controversial the P3 Hybrid powertrain is, the GLC63 S E Performance delivers arm-wrestling dynamics most will liken it to wielding a humongous ax in the woods even while fiddling with the AMG Dynamic Select, AMG Ride Control steel-spring suspension with Adaptive Damping System, three-stage variable steering, rear axle steering, ESP, and its AMG high-performance composite brake system. Although extremely bulky to drive due to its PHEV powertrain, it feels capable of lashing out through tarmac, gravel, and snow like it's payday.

Yes, like its C63 S E Performance equivalent, the all-new GLC63 S E Performance's electrified drivetrain sounds muffled for speedo boys behind the wheel but everything else, the intense performance proves that this GLC is willing to use all of its superpowers for good or for evil. Whichever path it tips through, the world's burning with jealousy over the all-new GLC63 S E Performance because this is too cool to be ignored by latecomers everywhere. We just want one.

Mercedes-AMG GLC43 (X254)

The second-generation Mercedes-AMG GLC43 is the entry-level AMG version of the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC crossover that balances the practicality and performance you would expect for Stage 1 of the AMG-fied GLC.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC43

Starting at 86,870 Euros plus additional costs, the X254 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 is all about checks and balances fit enough for what's known to be a decent rival to the Audi SQ5.

Although it looks and feels just like the normal GLC, the GLC43 is kitted with signature AMG elements on the outside as well as sports seats (AMG Performance seats optional), and the available AMG TRACK PACE data logger that displays your on-track performance on the move, among many other AMG-fied features you can find in this entry-level AMG crossover.

In tune with the times, the X254 GLC43 is armed with a smaller 2.0L 4-cylinder engine featuring the world's first electric exhaust gas turbocharger. Inspired by AMG's F1 involvement, this new electrified and compact engine produces 422PS of power and 500Nm of torque. Mated to a 9G-TRONIC gearbox and the rear-biased AMG Performance 4MATIC, it does 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.

For a semi-high-performance crossover that delivers a decent balance of performance and practicality everywhere, the all-new GLC43 feels down-to-earth intermediate to drive, even amateurs can get hooked on its sporty characteristics its possess. Although not much of a challenge, the all-new GLC43 is a great start to the AMG-fied GLC lineup. Consider this a warm-up exercise, boys and girls.

Mercrdes-Benz GLC (X254) Coupe

The second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC has a coupe version and this variant offers the same stuff you would expect from its normal equivalent but with the sloping roofline worth noticing.

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

Priced at 62,594 Euros plus additional costs, the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is the sloping roofline version of the C-Class-based crossover that is all about getting ready for what lies ahead.

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe interior

For starters, it looks and feels just like the normal second-generation GLC with its matured looks, a large touch screen that is loaded with the MBUX user interface that includes the Alexa-ish "Hey Mercedes" voice function, the optional ENERGIZING Pack Plus for your comfortable driving pleasure, and make use of the available MBUX Augmented Reality for easier navigation purposes, among many others. Because this is the coupe version, the total boot space has been slashed by 190L with the rear seats folded down, making it less spacious than its normal GLC but it's more spacious than the previous GLC Coupe so job done.

Like the normal GLC, the coupe version feels as balanced as the C-Class it was based on. With the standard 4MATIC, available rear-wheel steering, four-link front suspension, rear multi-link suspension, and various chassis options to choose from, it feels like it's ready to take on almost anything.

It also features an electrified range of 4-cylinder petrol, diesel, and PHEV powertrains, all mated to a 9G-TRONIC gearbox and 48v MHEV tech. The most powerful version goes to the GLC 400e with its 2.0L turbocharged engine bolted to an electric motor and a lithium battery, generating a total power output of 381PS, 650Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 5.6 seconds, and 239kph of top speed. Driving on electrics, it's good for 130km on one full charge.

The GLC Coupe features a wide array of safety systems such as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Car-to-X communication, Active Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST, Active Parking Assist, Parking Package, PRE-SAFE, and DIGITAL LIGHT.

Lexus LM (TAWH15W)

Lexus's first-ever minivan, the LM, has arrived and those who believed that today's Toyota Alphard and Vellfire aren't luxurious enough for them should consider the fanciest equivalent if they have a massive price to pay.

2024 Lexus LM
2024 Lexus LM

The first-ever Lexus LM, priced at 20 million Yen plus additional costs, is no doubt the most expensive minivan in the world thanks to its ultra-luxurious features that can upset today's BMW 7-Series. Although this is basically the highest-ranked version of the Toyota Alphard it was based on, the Lexus LM is fit enough for the 1% to relax while on the move.

2024 Lexus LM
2024 Lexus LM

Beginning with the exterior design, the LM features an Alphard-esque side view while donning an un-Lexus front face and a rear view that proudly spells LEXUS all over. This is the first time you'll see a Lexus logo on the front face that is not in the grille since the LFA supercar from a long time ago and such appeal really means authority for the LM.

Despite its minivan looks, the Lexus LM is basically a four-seater fancy living digest because the driver's side and the passenger's side are separated by the 48-inch flat-screen monitor. Beginning with the driver's side, it's packed with the LFA-inspired instrumental panel that most Lexus models don as well as the HUD, a 14-inch touchscreen sat-nav, loads of USB-C ports, climate control, and so on.

On the passenger's side, this is where the out-on-a-limo experience kicks in because, with the special device, passengers can control the ottoman seats with the built-in massager, ambient lighting, the rear entertainment system, air conditioning, and others. Mind you, the rear monitor features a picture-to-picture experience so passengers can watch some movies while video conferencing with other businesspeople when they're out of the office, stuck in traffic, or whatever comes across them. Don't forget that there's a built-in refrigerator where they can store your refreshments as well.

2024 Lexus LM
2024 Lexus LM

Just like its lesser Toyota Alphard and Vellfire equivalents, the Lexus LM runs on the TNGA platform, front MacPherson struts, rear double wishbones, and ventilated disc brakes. The only powertrain is the same one used in the RX500 F SPORT Performance and the Toyota Crown Crossover. It combines the 2.4L T24A-FTS turbocharged engine with two electric motors and a nickel-metal battery, producing 371PS of system power output and while mated to a 6-speed AT, it has 13.5km/l of combined fuel economy based on WLTC Mode standards.

Because of the DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system, the LM feels different to drive compared to today's Toyota Alphard and Vellfire minivans with e-Four in it and it feels rather silly to put it on Sport Mode because that will make it a "king in its throne". Toilet finish. Speaking of toilet finish, the Lexus LM features a signature Rear Comfort driving mode that prioritizes comfort for rear passengers while on the move. Although it isn't textbook Rolls-Royce comfort, it soothes the rear passengers like a mermaid's tale all the way home.

Speaking of a mermaid's tale, the Lexus LM features the third-generation Lexus Intelligent Safety System+ (LSS+3.0) with a Pre-Crash Safety system, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Change Assist, Road Sign Assist, Adaptive High-Beam System, driver monitor, Proactive Driving Assist, and others. It even comes with the Lexus Teammate Advance Drive, and Advance Park as well.

The ultra-luxurious and ultra-expensive Lexus LM is the ultimate luxury minivan fit enough for the 1% to relax while on the move. Whether you're going to Okada, Newport World Resorts, Solaire, City of Dreams, Hann, or whatever casino-resorts these minivans serve, rest assured that the Lexus LM will blow away the lesser Toyota luxury minivans such as the Alphard, Vellfire, and the GranAce from arrival to departure. Consider yourselves VIPs.

Toyota Crown Sport (SH36)

In the summer of 2022, Toyota kicked off the new era of the Crown brand with the Crossover variant with the prospects of having the Crown brand expanded with a sports version, a sedan version, and an estate version soon. For 2023, the sports version of the 16th generation Crown range takes center stage.

The Crown Sport is the second part of the four-part 16th-generation Crown lineup and with prices starting at 5.9 million Japanese Yen plus additional costs, it's more expensive to own than its Crossover equivalent. So, how about a quick dive into the second cour of the Reiwa era Crown lineup?

2024 Toyota Crown Sport
2024 Toyota Crown Sport

Beginning with the exterior, the design is highly debatable because when the Crown Sport's design concept was showcased following the launch of the Crown Crossover back in the summer of 2022, the coupe crossover styling was macho indeed from top to bottom until Ferrari stole the Toyota Crown Sport's looks for their Purosangue. Long story short but like the chicken and the egg, it's hard to say which one came first, whether it's this or the Ferrari Purosangue. Either way, the styling is highly debatable indeed.

While it's hard to explain about the exterior styling that caused a row between Toyota and Ferrari, the interior works just like its Crossover equivalent. Adopting the minimalist stance, the driver's side is packed with noticeable techs such as T-Connect, smartphone connectivity, voice control, heated steering wheel, digital rearview mirror, and others. While it can accommodate up to five people, the 397-litre boot space capacity means it's less spacious than the Crossover. Still, the hands-free power liftgate, tonneau board, and an AC100V・1500W accessory outlet are some of the nifty features the Crown Sport offers if you're in the mood for outdoors.

2024 Toyota Crown Sport

At launch, the Crown Sport is offered with a 2.5L A25A-FXS Dynamic Force hybrid powertrain bolted to a nickel-metal battery and a CVT, resulting in a total power output of 234PS of power output and 21.3km/L of fuel economy based on WLTC Mode standards. By the festive season, a PHEV variant will be offered later.

With its TNGA-K platform, Dynamic Rear Steering, VDIM, and E-Four, along with the front MacPherson struts and rear multilink suspension setup, the Crown Sport behaves like a luxury crossover even while on either tarmac, gravel, or snow. It can be configured in three driving modes; ECO, NORMAL, and SPORT.

Although it doesn't behave like the Purosangue crossover that stole its looks, the Crown Sport soothes your brow all the way home. It even features Toyota Safety Sense with the available Proactive Driving Assist, Toyota Teammate Advanced Driver, and Advanced Park for added levels of safety worth noticing.

Calling it a poor man's Purosangue is out of context because of the styling the Ferrari Purosangue stole it from, but the Toyota Crown Sport is business and leisure without explanations. It really is the second cour of the Reiwa era Crown lineup worth checking out and the connection continues.

Honda N-BOX (Third Generation)

The first of Honda's N line of kei cars is now on its third generation as the all-new N-BOX promises to fit through the demands of the new normal with its new style, new interior, and new tech while retaining the classic N-BOX brand that made it the best-selling Honda in ages.

2024 Honda N-BOX
2024 Honda N-BOX

The best-selling Honda in Japan, the N-BOX, has reached its third generation and this all-new model marks the new start for the first of Honda's N line of kei cars in this Reiwa era we lived in. Catering to the demands of this era of the new normal, the N-BOX of the Reiwa era puts its emphasis on usability, comfort, and efficiency, in somewhat ascending order just like most kei cars should. Yours for 1,648,900 Japanese Yen plus additional costs.

Like its predecessors, the third-generation N-BOX is offered in two different styles; the normal one and the Custom one. While the normal one looks pretty much the same as the previous model, the Custom one looks like a mini-me StepWGN Spada of today. Either way, the new styling is one of the main feats of the all-new N-BOX.

Apart from the new exterior design, the interior is all-new for this model, as demonstrated by the new dashboard layout packed with a seven-inch TFT unit as the dial display and a nine-inch touchscreen mounted in the middle. As for comfort, it still snugs just like the previous model and can still carry most of today's grocery list as usual.

For those who have a cart or a wheelchair, a Slope variant was offered which comes with a rear super flex slope, electric winch, back door lamp, and a wheelchair fixing belt, among many others. Quite handy, I dare say.

2024 Honda N-BOX

The third-generation N-BOX is powered by a 660cc i-VTEC engine that produces 58PS of power output and 65Nm of torque, and when mated with a CVT, fuel efficiency is around 21.6km/L based on WLTC Mode standards. Of course, you can exercise your options with the available turbocharged engine and four-wheel drive just in case.

With usability one of the main feats of the new model, Honda wasted no time recalibrating its dynamics to give a 4.5m turning radius, making it easy to get in and out of the parking spot. As for safety, the third-generation N-BOX comes with Honda Sensing, VSA, emergency stop signal, hill start assist function, and a multi-view camera system, among many others.

The best-selling Honda vehicle in Japan has leveled up as the all-new N-BOX caters to the demands of the era of the new normal with its usability, comfort, and efficiency. Welcome aboard.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 N

When Hyundai's high-performance N division said they would brace electrification, they really meant it, shocking the entire world by storm. After years of waiting since the launch of IONIQ 5, the first-ever electrified N car has arrived and it's time to get too jealous about it.

2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N
2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N interior

Welcome to the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, the high-performance version of the award-winning IONIQ 5 electric crossover that signals the start of N's electrified route, like it or not. It costs 76,000,000 Korean Won plus additional costs and from every angle, this commoner's EV gets Physical. Physical: N, of course.

Although it looks vaguely similar to the normal IONIQ 5, this beefed-up version features signature N elements, a sporty exterior design, an N Steering Wheel with N-specific functions, and a specific center console with race-specific features fit for your track day use in Inje, among many others. It's hard to say if the IONIQ 5 N is a classified sleeper car because it looks pretty much like the normal one but...who knows. It's going to be a long day.

Armed with an 84kWh Li-ion battery pack and two electric motors powering the front and rear wheels, making it a punchy 4WD prized fighter, the IONIQ 5 N produces a default 609PS of power and 740Nm of torque, more powerful than the Kia EV6 GT. However, with the N Grin Boost engaged for ten seconds, the power gets bumped to 650PS, and with N Launch Control in play, it's capable of a 0-100kph time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 260kph, faster than a luxury German saloon. As for the driving range, it's good for 351km on one full charge.

Just like the normal IONIQ 5, it supports V2L capability, meaning you can use some of its juice to charge your phones, your laptop, heck, you can even plug in your TV sets and binge-watch some K-dramas while in the middle of a tailgating party with your pals.

Being a 4WD electric street fighter, the IONIQ 5 N is armed with an e-LSD at the rear axle as well as N Torque Distribution with 11 levels of adjustment and by surprise, an N Drift Optimiser. Although it feels bulky to drive as expected for an electric car, its N characteristics made it damn-straight addictive everywhere. You can really forget about your thoughts while trying to wrestle this car like a Ssireum match.

Although controversial, the IONIQ 5 N features numerous gimmicks such as the N e-shift system where a virtual 8-speed DCT comes out for the play and with the manual mode set, it shifts like you were in a video game, and the ultra-flashy N Active Sound+ where two external speakers and eight internal speakers can imitate engine noises including the jet-inspired Supersonic sound effect.

Like the normal IONIQ 5, the N features a host of safety features such as Remote Smart Parking Assist, Surround View Monitor, and Hyundai SmartSense, among many others.

So, what can I say about the IONIQ 5 N? While the virtual gear shifting and the virtual sound effects are flashy enough to be taunted by speedo boys as a poser machine, not to mention the quirky and bulky handling feel that feels like you're in a Ssireum match, the IONIQ 5 N is one of the many reasons that electric cars are getting manly and dangerous at the same time. Mixing subtlety and obviousness is one thing but with the IONIQ 5 N, we're experiencing burning jealousy right now, wishing we wanted to drive one someday.

The commoner's EV has turned...

Toyota Century (SUV) GRG75

Since 1967, the Century has been the pinnacle of the Toyota heritage as it was made in honor of the centennial birth of its founder, Sakichi Toyoda. For over five-and-a-half decades and three generations of the flagship saloon, the Century ultimately represents Japanese culture from the halfway point of the Showa era to the dark ages of the Reiwa era. A new era demands a new kind of Century.

2024 Toyota Century (SUV)
2024 Toyota Century (SUV)

In addition to the flagship saloon, Toyota launched the crossover spin-off of the Century lineage, turning the Century marque into a sub-brand under Toyota's wing. The Mark of Suzaku continues to shine now with two wings beyond the skies.

2024 Toyota Century (SUV)
2024 Toyota Century (SUV)

Starting at 25,000,000 Japanese Yen (about 250,000 US Dollars) plus additional costs, the SUV version of the Toyota Century is considered the least costly alternative to its main rival, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan but because this is nearly five times the price of the Land Cruiser 300, the SUV version of the Century has unanimously dethroned the Land Cruiser as the flagship SUV of Toyota but don't count on it just yet because while the Land Cruiser is known for taking on the beaten path, the SUV version of the Century is made to cater the most prolific VIPs, especially Japanese politicians, with its legendary comfort and luxury inherited from its sedan counterpart.

While the styling is heavily mistaken for the Cullinan, the familiar Century elements are implemented including its signature phoenix badge at the front. Because the SUV version of the Century is genuinely bespoke, clients can personalize it any way they want as well as choose their own doors, either traditional or sliding doors. Yes, really. Such bespoke personalizations are possible at select Toyota dealerships that are certified "Century Meister".

2024 Toyota Century (SUV)
2024 Toyota Century (SUV) interior

Checking the handcrafted interior, Toyota wasted none of its precious time and resources tailoring the insides from top to bottom until it reached its desired client wishing it was his or her kind of Century before setting off. Onto the driver's side, the functionality works like today's Toyota Crown, meaning it has a 12.3-inch TFT instrumental panel, a Display Audio Plus with smartphone connectivity, heated steering wheel, HUD, digital rearview mirror, wireless charging port, USB-C ports, and others.

The passenger side is where the out-on-a-limo experience comes into fruition as the VIP can take advantage of its ultra-luxurious features, including the world premiere of the rear full-flat mode exclusively on the Century SUV, letting the crocodiles sleep while their drivers are driving them back to their fancy mansions. Long day, isn't it. And that's not all, with the special devices mounted on the rear seats as well as the rear entertainment system and other ultra-luxurious goodies, including a mini-refrigerator to cool their drinks, this is a first-class crossover fit for high-rollers and right-wing politicians alike.

Space-wise, the SUV version of the Century is good for up to 340 liters of boot space, making it good for dealing with nearly all walks of life the rich and powerful can't get enough of.

2024 Toyota Century (SUV)
2024 Toyota Century (SUV)

Unlike its sedan counterpart which is basically a glorified version of the previous-generation Lexus LS, the SUV version runs on the same GA-K platform as the Crown crossover, and because comfort is the strength of the Century, it's been given comfort-oriented dynamics to make it smooth sailing. Although not as good as the Cullinan, it's more than enough to deliver the out-on-a-limo experience the big bosses can't get enough of. It also comes with spring damping control, NAVI-AI-AVS, and DRS (no, not the F1 kind of DRS). The DRS suppresses sudden changes in vehicle behavior by enabling seamless and natural handling by controlling the direction of the rear wheels in the opposite direction (out-of-phase) or the same direction (in-phase) as the front wheels, depending on vehicle speed, and reduces the minimum turning radius at low speeds (5.5m). Good enough.

Thanks to its 4WD system, the Century SUV is a decent all-rounder on and off the road, be it tarmac, gravel, or even snow. Not as good as a Land Cruiser but it's still cozy enough for a long drive to Hokkaido on a Sunday morning, going fishing.

Speaking of comfort, the SUV version of the Century runs on a PHEV powertrain where the 262PS 3.5L V6 engine is bolted to two electric motors and a Li-ion battery, not to mention it was mated to a CVT gearbox. It delivers 14.2km/L of combined fuel economy based on WLTC Mode standards and while running on electric power alone, it's good for up to 69km of driving range.

The SUV version of the Century is prepared with Toyota Safety Sense featuring a Pre-Crash Safety system, Lane Departure Alert, Radar Cruise Control, Adaptive High-beam System, Blind Spot Monitor, Parking Support Alert, and many others. It even comes with Toyota Teammate Advanced Park as well as other safety features.

In terms of safety, the Century features Toyota Safety Sense and Toyota Teammate Advanced Park among other safety features offered on this ultra-luxury crossover.

The new body type of the Toyota Century may be deemed controversial but with the SUV version joining alongside the existing sedan type, the Mark of Suzaku continues to shine now with two wings beyond the skies. The Century lineage is now a class on its own and this time, they are the ones that rose to the top of the Toyota hierarchy. Welcome to the new world order.
