BMW M2 G87

The BMW M2 is regarded as one of the best M cars ever made thanks to its back-to-basics approach and its all about bringing driving back to the drivers. With the all-new G87 model, does the all-new M2 retain the mantra from its predecessor even with its questionable looks?

With prices starting at 72,800 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new BMW M2 G87 promises to retain the magic of its well-loved predecessor but despite its promise, the questionable looks will make speedo boys think twice before laying their finger on it.

While this is based on the G42 2-Series Coupe, the all-new M2 swapped the normal 2-Series Coupe's front design for a butchered one judging by its new headlamps and a rather un-BMW-ish frameless kidney grille design, among the other aerodynamic upgrades implemented to it. Inside, it works just like the normal 2-Series Coupe but the all-new M2 is packed with a choice of either M sports seats or M Carbon bucket seats with the latter weighing 10.8kg less than the former. Easier said than done, they said but whatever.

Under the hood, the all-new M2 is armed with the same S58 3.0L turbo six-cylinder engine as its hideous big brother, the M4, but it's been detuned to produce 460PS of power and 550Nm of torque. That's more than what you get from the old M2. As expected, it can be mated to either a 6-speed MT or an 8-speed M Steptronic AT with Drivelogic which makes it capable of hitting a 0-100kph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed limited to 250kph. 285kph if you opt-in for an optional M Driver's Package. That's 5kph more than the old M2.

Because the all-new M2 is rear-wheel-drive only, you'll fall in love driving with it more than the previous one, and because of its Active M Differential at the rear axle, Dynamic Stability Control, M Drive Professional with M Traction Control System, Adaptive M suspension, and other dynamic knowhow involved, you'll find various ways to get addicted to it either on the streets of Berlin or at a track day in the Nurburgring, not necessarily in that order.

Despite its controversial looks, the added performance and dynamics made the all-new M2 the one to have at this moment in time. Love it or hate it, this baby M Coupe is ready to show its magic to those behind the wheel, and between you and me, we're getting anxious and jealous to drive one someday. Bring it on, BMW!

Maserati MC20 Cielo

The MC20 marked the new beginning for Maserati and as the world is struggling with the new normal, where crossovers are superheroes, this is the antithesis every car enthusiast needs. With its strikingly great styling, driver-focused interior, and performance that is quintessentially Italian, the MC20 became every speedo boy's newest favorite Italian supercar for the time being.

Those who want an open-top version should consider the MC20 Cielo, the roadster version that offers the same thrills as its hardtop equivalent but with a foldable glass roof at the top. Yours for less than 220K Euros.

Unlike most drop-tops, the MC20 Cielo features a two-piece folding glass roof that takes 12 seconds to open or close and it can turn opaque at the touch of a button. Sounds like a party piece but the roof-folding mechanism adds 65kg of weight.

Despite the added weight, the Cielo behaves just like its hardtop equivalent as expected. Armed with the 630PS 3.0L 6-cylinder twin-turbo Nettuno engine mated to an 8-speed DCT, the MC20 Cielo can sprint from 0-100kph in 2.9 seconds and can go all the way to 325kph. It's still great to drive even with the roof down and because it features a double-wishbone suspension system with active shock absorbers as well as the composite material monocoque soaked in carbon fiber, the Cielo behaves like a racecar on the track, just like what the hardtop equivalent should.

Glass roof or not, the MC20 Cielo is all about taking leaps and bounds from its hardtop equivalent despite the added weight penalty. Like the hardtop equivalent, the MC20 Cielo is quintessentially Italian and it too will become every speedo boy's newest favorite Italian supercar for the time being.

BMW M3 Competition Touring

For decades, the idea of an M3 Touring is nothing but a far-fetched dream until now, the dream of an M3 Touring became a living reality, and looks like the first-ever M3 Touring will have the Audi RS4 Avant in its crosshairs.

Priced at 97,800 Euros plus additional costs, the first-ever BMW M3 Competition Touring is a dream come true for speedo boys wishing for an estate version of the M3. Because this is an M3, there are some ups and downs with this dream-turned-reality.

Because the M3 Competition Touring is basically a G21 3-Series Touring with the face of the G80 M3, you can expect lots of complaints from the design department because of the controversial kidney grilles that became the new normal for BMW but because this is the M3 Touring, they'll let it slide for now.

On the interior, it still operates and feels just like their normal equivalents, apart from the annoying but clever BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that works like your Amazon Alexa device as well as the M-specific treatments that differentiate them such as its sports seats, buttons, and some extras. Because this is the Touring variant, you can expect 500 liters of boot space with the rear seats present and up to 1510 liters of boot space with the rear seats folded down, meaning this M3 is ready for everything.

Under the hood, the M3 Competition Touring is powered by the same 3.0L twin-turbo six-cylinder engine as its siblings, and because this is set in Competition spec with xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the only gearbox you'll get is an 8-speed automatic. It produces 510PS of power, 650Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 3.6 seconds, and an electronically-limited top speed of 250kph. 280kph with the optional extra on, which is 10kph less than its sedan equivalent.

Despite being heavier than the sedan version, the M3 Competition Touring still packs a punch with its M-tuned dynamics, adaptive dampers, variable-ratio steering, and others. With such track-tuned dynamics, it's no wonder it became the fastest wagon to lap the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 35.06 seconds.

With the dream of the M3 Touring becoming a living reality, it's time to get egoistic about it because love it or hate it, this is the high-performance station wagon Bimmer fanatics want...or not.

Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06

The eighth-generation Corvette may be a treason to the Corvette history, as purists feared, because of its mid-engine layout, it's by far the best sports car ever to come out from America and those behind it sure know how to make a Corvette great again, whatever the reason. Those who want a greater Corvette should consider the Z06 because hey, how about those Republicans?

Starting at a costly $105,300 plus additional costs, the all-new C8 Corvette Z06, in coupe and convertible flavors, is the best of both worlds for speedo boys behind the wheel. By employing some of the know-how from the C8.R racing machine, the Z06 transformed the C8 Corvette into a full-blown supercar that can chomp on asphalt with some southern hospitality as would say.

While the styling and interior are broadly similar to the normal C8 Corvette, the new Z06 features unique styling features such as quad center exhausts on the rear, wider fenders, quarter panels, and fascias, standard ground effects and spoiler, replaceable spoiler wicker bills, rear brake cooling ducts, removable front fascia panel, and front underwing stall Gurneys for improved aerodynamics compared to the normal C8.

Considering a shock to the world's best supercars, the C8 Z06 's V8 engine is back to being a naturally aspirated one. It's a 5.5L V8 naturally aspirated engine that produces 670HP of power and while mated to a standard 8-speed AT, it does 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds. Although it's as fast as the original Lamborghini Aventador, the most powerful European supercars can still eat it because of the C8 Z06's naturally aspirated engine, which is surprisingly the most powerful NA engine...in the world. As for the soundtrack, it's proper Southern hospitality because this engine roars like a muscle car. Hey, how about those Republicans?

Aside from the old-school engine that powers it, the dynamics are a worthy challenge for the C8 Z06. Using most of the know-how from the C8.R race car, the available Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and the Z07 Performance Package, the C8 Z06 feels like home on the road and track. Getting crazy with it, the Z06 will show its iron fist approach to your driving pleasure. Consider yourselves Texas Smashed.

With its naturally aspirated V8 engine, C8.R-inspired dynamics, and sleek aerodynamics, the C8 Z06 has evolved from a typical Corvette into a proper purist's sportscar, akin to Porsche's 992 911 GT3. Because of such developments, the new model is proud to show its "Make Z06 Great Again" banner around town.

With prices starting at below 60K GBP, the Lotus Emira is an all-new model that competes with the likes of the Porsche 718 and the Maserati MC20. From every angle, the Emira is promising to be one of the best sportscars to drive in the age of the new normal.

Beginning with the design, the Lotus Emira is somewhat a mini-me Evija from top to bottom, bearing resemblance to Lotus's first electric hypercar. Although this is not an electric car compared to the Evija, the new Lotus design DNA made the Emira an attractive-looking car that deserves to be coveted.

Step into the Emira's interior and you'll find that most of the high-tech stuff sprinkled into the dashboard is not the Lotus way speedo boys love. In the past, the Elise and the Exige's stripped-off interiors made the cars driver-focused in every way. For the Emira, it feels more like a fancy smartphone rather than a go-kart but it's still a driver-focused car fit for two, meaning you can enjoy driving to the track on a Saturday afternoon and then take your date to the fancy restaurant on the evening. Ah, the joys of driving a fancy Lotus sportscar that was kitted with tech and ADAS on it.

The cream of the crop of the Lotus Emira is its performance and this is troublesome for those who are jealous enough to want one because, with such dynamics, it's going to be too awesome to be ignored. Running on a brand-new Sports Car Architecture, the Emira features two chassis and suspension settings ranging from a comfort-oriented Tour setting and the preferable Sport setting from the optional Lotus Drivers Pack, which makes the Emira more enjoyable to drive on the road and track. Coupled with the hydraulic steering, the Emira delivers a dramatic driving feel that is worth enjoyable to drive without the drama. Best of all, it feels down-to-earth and addictive.

Speedo boys who managed to get the £75,995 V6 First Edition are lucky enough to enjoy the Toyota-derived 3.5L V6 supercharged engine that produces 400hp of power, 430Nm of torque, and mated to either a 6-speed MT or AT with the latter capable of hitting 180mph of top speed. Those who are too late for that will have to make do with the 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder sourced from the Mercedes-AMG A45, packing up to 360hp of power, over a half less than the Maserati MC20.

Although not the Lotus you would hope for because of the tech involvement in it, the Emira showcased to us that this is the peak performance of what a Lotus delivers and because being the last Lotus to be powered by an internal combustion engine, it's a light-hearted killer blow Lotus has unleashed to the world, making it too cool to be ignored.

Because this is the last ICE-powered Lotus in history, those who are expressing jealousy really wish they want to drive one someday because this is by no means the best Lotus in ages since the Elise and the Exige. Period.

Kia EV6 GT

The EV6, launched last year, signaled the beginning of a new age for Kia and with its just size styling, and performance that defy expectations, the EV6 is the real materialization of the "Movement that Inspires" slogan. Love it or hate it, the EV6 is a revolution in motoring. Those who demand more from the EV6 finally got what they've wanted as the ultimate version of the EV6 has arrived and its performance is worth kicking.

The Kia EV6 GT, priced at 76,680,000 Korean Won plus additional costs, is the ultimate version of the EV6 where everything we know about this electric car just got juiced up to tear down the roads, not the environment. Finally, this is the EV6 that is worth the envy for those who demand one.

Beginning with the styling, the EV6 GT features unique aerodynamic styling that turns the commoner's EV6 into a striking image of a hot hatch, although it would be wrong to call the EV6 GT a super hot hatch because it doesn't look or feel like one. The lime-colored brake calipers add a nice touch to it.

While the interior works like the normal EV6, apart from the Panoramic Curved Display, infotainment systems, HUD, a rotary gear switch, i-PEDAL, and others, the EV6 GT features suede sport bucket seats while the steering wheel features a GT button. What does this button do? More with that later on but in the meantime, it's still as spacious as a normal EV6 although the boot space was dropped by 40L with the rear seats folded down, resulting in an overall boot space of 1260L.

Now's the time to tell about what the GT button does. When pressed, it will unleash the full capability of the EV6 GT. Apart from the adjustments to the e-LSD, electronic controlled suspension, and whatnots, it delivers an explosive performance of 585PS of power, 740Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 260kph, as fast as a high-performance German super saloon. Whilst the added kick, the EV6 GT is worth driving on the road and on the track thanks to its sport-tuned dynamics underneath. As for the range, it's good for a combined 312km.

Although it's wrong to call it a super hot hatch and also absurd to call it the substitute for the soon-to-be-axed Stinger, the EV6 GT has showcased to the world the brave and the bold side of Kia's electrification, and with such performance, looks like the whole world is itching to get one someday. Better start praying, boys.

Honda Civic Type R FL5

The first Civic Type R of the Reiwa era has arrived as the Honda Civic's 50th-anniversary celebration's gone full circle with the ultimate Civic unleashed to the world, a must-have for speedo boys worldwide.

The all-new Honda Civic Type R, priced at 4,997,300 Japanese Yen plus additional costs, is by no means the first Civic Type R of the Reiwa era but by amazement, this is the last ICE-powered Civic Type R in history as the company behind this is shifting towards the age of electrification. Looks like Honda's on the roll to call the FL5 Civic Type R the ultimate Type R ever built and it's ready to deliver the endgame speedo boys deserved on the road and track. Best of all, the Civic Type R is now built in Japan for the first time since the FD2, a delight for speedo boys who love JDM sportscars and daydream about them every single time while getting high.

Based on the 11th generation Honda Civic hatchback, the all-new Type R features new bodywork, a new carbon fiber rear wing, and the same triple exhaust from the previous FK8. From every angle, it's no longer as obvious as the previous FK8 model. It's as subtle as doing a subtle attempt at the big score. On the inside, the aluminum center panel, sports seats, Type R steering wheel, aluminum shift knob, specially-made speedo, and a serial number plaque made the new Type R a racer's delight while accompanying up to five people inside.

On track days, the FL5 Civic Type R features a built-in LogR vehicle app that monitors and records performance data on a closed road and track.

Under the hood, the FL5 Civic Type R runs on the same K20C1 2.0L VTEC Turbo engine as the previous FK8 but it's been boosted to produce 330PS of power and 420Nm of torque while mated exclusively to a 6-speed MT. Aside from that, Honda has spent its manpower to give the FL5 Civic Type R a much-needed improvement in the dynamics department. From the improved suspension setup, electronically controlled dampers, improved braking performance, and new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires built exclusively for this car, it's no wonder the FL5 Civic Type R smashed the Suzuka Circuit FF lap record, faster than the previous model. Let's hope it reaches the Nurburgring and smashes the Renaultsport Megane Trophy-R's lap record to become the new king of FF hot hatches in the Nurburgring. You can count on it.

Because this is the Reiwa era Type R, the FL5 features an updated Honda SENSING system featuring a Forward Collision Warning System, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist System, improved Adaptive Cruise Control, and Adaptive Driving Beam, among many others.

With its sensible design and improved performance, the first Civic Type R of the Reiwa era is no doubt the ultimate Civic Type R ever built. As Honda shifts its focus to the era of electrification, there's no doubt that the FL5 Civic Type R will be the biggest sendoff in the twilight of the internal combustion era and for speedo boys, they're ready to risk their lives to drive the FL5 like there's no tomorrow because, in the age of the new normal, there will never be something as cool as the Civic Type R. Nissan Fairlady Z RZ34

For over five decades, the Nissan Fairlady Z became the second-best thing to come out since the iconic Skyline GT-R. From the Safari to Suzuka, its motorsport pedigree has become the hallmark of the Z lineage. In the midst of the new normal, Nissan didn't give up on the Z bloodline so they've launched the ultimate Z ever made, and the world's on fire with this new version.

Priced at 5,241,500 Japanese Yen plus additional costs, the reborn Fairlady Z promises to be the ultimate Z car speedo boys are yearning for. Despite its new looks, there's something odd about this car. Why stick to the Z34 chassis code? The styling inspired by the Z Proto concept looks brand new to them but it's still a Z34 underneath, therefore it's still a Heisei-era car recalibrated for the Reiwa era. Still, because most of the stuff is new, they've labeled this Fairlady Z as the RZ34 and the R stands for Reiwa. It's a Z34 reworked for the Reiwa era.

Like the Z Proto concept, the front design draws inspiration from the 240ZG, while the side view is inspired by the original S30 Fairlady Z, and the rear view design is inspired by the Z32. Although similarly sized compared to the previous Z34, the retro-inspired design is the stuff of legends.

The interior is newly reworked and driver-focused so speedo boys can enjoy driving behind the wheel. From its triple pod cluster, race-inspired gauges, a GT-R-styled steering wheel, and new performance seats, the new interior gives drivers the feeling of driving a race car on the road and track, from the Tokyo highways to the corners of Suzuka Circuit.

Because the Fairlady Z RZ34 is all about returning from its roots, it's now powered by a 3.0L V6 Twin Turbo engine lifted from the Skyline V37 400R. It produces 405PS of power, and 475Nm of torque, and can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed AT. In addition to the new monotube shocks, new front geometry, increased rigidity, available sport brakes, mechanical LSD, and rear suspension tuning, the RZ34 features, for the first time, available launch control and electric power steering. The latter can be somewhat upsetting for purists behind the wheel just like the time when the Porsche 911 991 comes with it. 

Despite being bulky to drive due to the electric power steering drama, it's still worth an enjoyable car to drive on the road and on the track. Whether you're beating the rush hour traffic or beating personal lap times, the Fairlady Z RZ34's improved dynamics are what made it the best Z car to drive full-stop. As for fuel economy, the RZ34 is good from 9.5 to 10.2km/L based on WLTC Mode standards.

Because being the Z car built for the new normal, the Fairlady Z RZ34 features Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which is a range of active safety systems consisting of Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent FCW, LDW, Hill Start Assist, BSW, RCTA, Hi-Beam Assist, Intelligent Emergency Brake, front and back sonar, and more. Although startling for speedo boys behind the wheel, who cares about them. Some speedo boys are toying around with autonomous tech nowadays.

The Fairlady Z RZ34 is still a Heisei-era Z-car underneath but the improvements really made the RZ34 the Z car fit for the Reiwa era. The European-built, BMW Z4-derived Toyota GR Supra should be worrying right now because its worst nightmare has come true in the form of the Nissan Fairlady Z RZ34.

It may be known as the ultimate Fairlady Z ever made, but it made a lot of bitter sacrifices to become a living thing such as losing its European fans because of the fact that Nissan will not sell the RZ34 to the Old Continent for numerous reasons. For speedo boys in America, Japan, and other countries permitted to sell it, will the RZ34 Fairlady Z be hit or a miss?  Only time will tell...

Ferrari 296 GTB

The arrival of Ferrari's first PHEV supercar, the SF90 Stradale, showcased to the world that Ferrari's prepared for the age of electrification by putting all means necessary to create a powerful supercar that uses most of the LaFerrari's teachings to tear through the streets and racetracks without tearing the environment. Now, one of the late LaFerrari's disciples has arrived, and looks like it tries to be just like its big brother. Say hello to the first-ever 296 GTB.

With pricing starting below three hundred grand, which is surprisingly less expensive than its big brother, the SF90, the first-ever 296 GTB is the newest baby Ferrari coupe that follows the teachings of the LaFerrari by incorporating the art of electrification the Ferrari way. That means, like the SF90, the 296 GTB is more than happy to tear through the streets and racetracks without tearing up the environment.

With the styling broadly similar to the SF90, the 296 is somewhat smaller than the SF90 as expected. As for the interior, it's a basic Ferrari interior as expected as well. It's driver-focused with less distracting features and comes with a super-complicating steering wheel that is as difficult to understand as the steering wheel used in Formula 1 vehicles. It takes a speedo boy with a master's degree in science and engineering to understand how it works but either way, it's better to sit down, shut up, and enjoy driving Ferrari's newest Berlinetta.

The Ferrari 296 is the first Ferrari road car to have a V6 engine mounted with an angle of 120 degrees between the cylinder banks. With the turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine bolted to a rear electric motor and a li-ion battery, this rear-wheel-drive PHEV supercar is capable of producing a total power output of 830PS and 740Nm of torque. Armed with the 8-speed F1 gearbox, the 296 has a 0-100kph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 330kph, making it almost as good as the F8 Tributo.

Of course, being a rear-wheel-drive supercar for experts only, driving the 296 is no playtime, although the jealous zealots are driven to tears right now, wishing they want to drive one someday. Anyway, driving this car is no playtime because of its super-complicating technology underneath it. Yes, it has most of the Scuderia Ferrari know-how, the most advanced aerodynamics for a baby Ferrari, and the most sophisticated dynamics made for this car, but for a challenge, it would be best to rate it two-and-a-half on a scale of three. It's challenging at first but as you get addicted to its dynamics, you'll fall in love with this car easily and there's no way you would want to let go of it until you are fully satisfied. Easier said than done but whatever.

To get the most out of the 296, there's the optional Assetto Fiorano package with most of the upgrades used while lapping around Fiorano in 1:21. With specially made Multimatic shock absorbers, high downforce carbon-fiber appendages, a Lexan rear screen, and carbon fiber materials used all over the car, the Assetto Fiorano package made the 296 capable to show its true colors on the road and on the track.

While smaller and less powerful than the SF90, the 296 is worthy enough to follow the LaFerrari's skid marks as one of its disciples and looks like this disciple just earned its stripes. Stripes colored in the colors of the Italian flag, of course. 

Game over, McLaren Artura. The 296 GTB is the PHEV supercar speedo boys want at this moment in time.

Mercedes-AMG SL (R232)

For nearly seven decades, the SL became a legend in the Mercedes heritage since the legendary 300SL of the 50s. Fast forward to this decade and the SL legend lives on at the hands of Mercedes-AMG. Welcome to the Mercedes-AMG SL.

No longer called the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, the first-ever Mercedes-AMG SL continues the SL lineage in a whole new approach by delivering a new kind of driving experience speedo boys will never forget.

For starters, the sizing of the AMG SL is somewhat bigger compared to the R231 predecessor despite being sized to AMG GT standards. Of course, the AMG SL served as the replacement for the AMG GT Roadster so no complaints here. As for the design, it's obviously similar to the AMG GT so, again, no complaints. Oh wait, there's one and that's the roof because, being on the left side of their tradition, the new model ditched the Vario-Roof approach in favor of a more traditional one. A snub on one of their innovations, if you know what I mean. Despite that, the AMG SL is still an elegant grand tourer that can be taken on the road and on the track as most speedo boys do.

2023 Mercedes-AMG SL

Moving aside from its dynamic and sporty exterior design, the AMG SL's interior is what happens when you invite Chappie for a cup of tea that tastes like lemons. Speaking of lemons, it's the massive touchscreen that most speedo boys will irritate the most. What's even more irritating is the "Hey Mercedes" voice feature and when your date starts saying this magic word, all hell breaks loose while cruising on the streets of New York, Miami, or Los Angeles. Leaving aside from the unfortunate touch screen that is sized like a Tesla, the AMG SL's seats can be tailored to either plushy or sporty, depending on whatever you want for this ride. After all, it's all in the name of the "make money, make dream" approach.

What about performance? Beginning with the SL55, which is priced at 158,240 Euros plus additional costs, the 4.0L V8 BiTurbo engine produces 476PS of power, while the 187,098 Euro SL63 produces a massive 585PS of power, capable of 0-100kph time of 3.6 seconds and 315kph of top speed. All are mated to a 9-speed MCT and 4MATIC+. What? The AMG SL is a four-wheel-drive roadster? Absolutely and while its layout irritates speedo boys, its fully variable torque distribution allows it to behave in either a four-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive, depending on road conditions.

Combined with the most sophisticated suspension and dynamics setup honed by AMG engineers, the end result is an all-rounder sports car that can be enjoyed almost everywhere and it delivers a mega punch on the straights.

Having a blast enjoying its dynamics fit for an open-top grand tourer, the AMG SL is stuck with the most advanced driving assistance systems and while such things work in normal driving conditions, they can be worth intimidating for speedo boys behind the wheel.

Is the Mercedes-AMG SL a revolution or a sacrilege to the SL lineage? No one knows until you get a hold of it but either way, this one's on the wish list because...argh, we just want one, please.

BMW 2-Series Coupe G42

The controversially confused 2-Series branding managed to live on with the latest version of BMW's baby two-door coupe and unlike today's 1-Series hatchback and its 2-Series Gran Coupe relative, this two-door 2-Series Coupe prefers to be rear-wheel drive just like its predecessor, something akin to Toyota's AE86 from the past. Never mind the Axis nonsense because it's time to have a word with the all-new 2-Series Coupe.

Priced at 39,700 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new 2-Series Coupe retains the rear-wheel-drive layout from its predecessor, a nod for hardline Bimmer purists who felt disgusted over the luxury carmaker's trends of today.

Beginning with the design, the G42 2-Series Coupe can be easily mistaken for a Rover 200 Coupe juiced up by the yardies. Yardies aside, it's nearly identical to the previous model it replaces, and thanks to such compact proportions, despite being slightly bigger than its predecessor, you can truly slip through the streets like a show-off.

Step inside and its familiar Bimmer interior layout is not like the ones found in its unrelated machines such as the 1-Series and the totally unrelated 2-Series Gran Coupe as expected because the folks from BMW wanted their new 2-Series Coupe to be away from the pack and be original because this is the only rear-wheel-drive 2-Series car you'll be getting.

For a two-door sports coupe with two extra seats in the back, the new model hasn't escaped the tech reality because it's armed with the available BMW Live Cockpit Professional powered by BMW Operating System 7, allowing drivers to take advantage of its technological marvel including its smartphone integration, OTA updates, Driving Assistant, and the most annoying feature of all, the Amazon Alexa Car Integration. Don't worry, you'll be using this by yourself because you're driving solo while toying around with its toys.

Being the only small rear-wheel-drive luxury sports coupe in existence, the all-new BMW 2-Series Coupe loves to handle like a serious sports car because of its reworked aerodynamics, suspension, and chassis, not to mention lightweight materials involved in the making of this car as well as Variable sport steering, M Sport braking system, Adaptive M suspension, and the M Sport differential. When you take it to the corners, it feels so dramatic and enjoyable to drive full-stop. You'll spend a couple of minutes appreciating just how great its dynamics are.

Under the hood, the new 2-Series Coupe is powered by a choice of a 2.0L petrol, 2.0L diesel, and in the case of the M240i xDrive, a 3.0L 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine with 374PS of power while mated with 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

While the 2-Series Coupe is meant to be enjoyed on a daily basis, its driver assistance systems rather spoil its sporty character. Such example is the standard Front-collision warning, Speed Limit Info, and Lane Departure Warning, not to mention the available Driving Assistant and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function.

With the new 2-Series Coupe no longer related to its front-wheel-drive equivalents, this is nearly a win for the purists because, despite its controversial styling, it's still one of the most enjoyable sports cars for the price of a Honda Civic Type R FK8. A real bargain.

Volkswagen Golf VIII R Variant

The Golf VIII R is the ultimate expression of the current-generation Golf that combines raw power and all-wheel-drive capability, creating the all-around Golf that can take on all comers. However, those who want some extra space should consider the wagon version of today's Golf R, called the Golf R Variant, and it's a poor man's RS4 Avant you want to try.


Priced at 51,585 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new Volkswagen Golf R Variant truly is the Audi RS4 Avant on a budget and it's a high-performance station wagon that combines the fun factor of a Golf R with the added boot for some tailgating parties in case speedo boys threw a Euro-wide road trip.

The Variant possesses the same bits and bobs as its hatchback equivalent, meaning you can still expect the same beefed-up exterior design, minimalist interior, seating for five, not to mention the wide range of driving assists such as the new Travel Assist feature, Adaptive Cruise Control with predictive speed detection, Front Assist, and its IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, but because this is a Golf Variant on steroids, it's 237-litres more than the hatchback with the rear seats present, and with them folded down, it possesses 1624-liters of boot space.

With such balance, the new Golf R delivers a more addictive driving experience for the drivers even when taken on either gravel or snow when needed. And it's driftable so you can send it sideways when you want.

McLaren Artura

Back in 2013, McLaren created the P1, a hybrid hypercar that forever spectacularly rewrote the rules of electrification. Then came the Speedtail, which became the most powerful McLaren ever built. Thanks to such astonishing achievement, McLaren decided to employ most of their electrification know-how in their brand new supercar known as the Artura, Britain's answer to the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.



Priced at over 180K Pounds, the first-ever McLaren Artura is an entirely new McLaren that uses most of the know-how from the legendary P1 and Speedtail, creating a plug-in hybrid supercar that makes its first impression last for speedo boys behind the wheel.

Beginning with the design, the Artura is like a mashup between the GT's rear and the 570's front. Mind you, the Artura served as the replacement for the 570S (although its GT equivalent will continue as well as its big brother, the 720S). Although it's hard to determine which position the Artura sits in, rest assured it feels like it's the middle child of the family of elitists, which is nice. The interior, meanwhile, is typical McLaren without all of the showy features that most luxury cars have. You just get in, buckle up, hit the switch, and go. No explanations.


The PHEV powertrain is the Artura's core that brings life to this hybrid supercar. The 3.0L V6 Twin Turbo engine is mated to an axial flux motor and a refrigerant-cooled Li-ion battery producing 680PS of power and 720Nm of torque. Mated to an 8-speed SSG, it sprints from 0-60mph in three seconds and has a top speed of 205mph. That's less than its chief rival, the Ferrari SF90.

Running on electricity alone, it can go for as little as 19 miles, which is fine on the city streets until you hit the highway and return to engaging its petrol engine and make some noise.

In terms of dynamics, the Artura is McLaren at its best on the road and on the track because of its near-perfect weight distribution courtesy of its carbon bodywork, front double wishbone, multi-link rear, Proactive Damping Control, electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering, Carbon Ceramic Discs, forged aluminum brake calipers, and specially-developed Pirelli P-ZERO tires. It even comes with a Variable Drift Control that can adjust its drifting angle. Go to the least and it's no longer a drift machine but go the furthest, it's the hardest to control unless you have the skills of a pro drifter to do it. When set to its well-balanced setting, the Artura is fun to drive and fun to drift as well.

Although it's not a proper threat to the Ferrari SF90, the McLaren Artura follows in the footsteps of the P1 and the Speedtail with its electrified powertrain that will inspire others to do the same in the age of the new normal. Because of such dynamics and powertrain that will cater to the next generation of speedo boys, the Artura really is the McLaren you'd wish to have if you are itching to drive one someday. This car is now under red notice and the whole world's on its rearview mirror.

Audi RS3 (Typ 8Y)

After a year of waiting since the arrival of the current Audi A3, the ultimate version known as the RS3 has arrived in sedan and Sportback form, and this means party time for speedo boys who have waited long enough to get their filthy hands on the latest version that promises to be as awesome as the previous RS3.



The RS3 (priced at 62,000 Euros plus additional costs) and the RS3 Sportback (priced at 60,000 Euros plus additional costs) are back in the Typ 8Y generation and the latest versions promise to be as enjoyable to drive as the previous model, something that speedo boys are looking forward to.

At first glance, the new versions are like the normal Audi A3 8Y, but with the RS3, this is what these A3 models looked like after last night in Ibiza. Such party animals they, and when you check through the design and its interior, it smells like one of the frat boys on steroids. Now that's manly, but just like the normal A3, speedo boys can get easily plagued by its minimalist interior layout because like the normal model, you don't get buttons and dials to adjust the touch screen sat nav's volume.  You get buttons only on the climate control. Period.

Anyway, with the beefed-up exterior design and a dark interior theme that smells manly for hot hatch standards, the new models' performance and dynamics are something to spark a conversation about. The new models retained the same 2.5L TFSi engine from the previous model. Sure, it produces the same 400PS power output as the original but they've managed to add 20Nm of torque to make it 500Nm, allowing it to rev as much as 7000rpm. Mated to an S Tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro permanent all-wheel drive, it can go from 0 to 100kph in 3.8 seconds and with an optional extra online, it can go up to 290kph, that's 10kph quicker than the previous model.

Aside from the improved performance, the new RS3's dynamics are getting more enjoyable than ever because underneath, the old model's rear axle differential has been replaced with a torque splitter that comes with a special feature that makes the RS3 drift like a rear-wheel-drive car. Not a Focus RS as such but it feels so addictive and enjoyable. Couple that with the RS sports suspension and the ceramic brake system, along with other improvements, the result is a mild but menacing ride that speedo boys will never forget. Once they drive it, it's prime time.

Is this the best RS3 Audi ever made? It's a 3-to-2 split decision but either way, the all-new RS3 range, in sedan and Sportback forms, loves to party through the roads and tracks like a real party animal. Although speedo boys are getting problems with the interior, the fun-to-drive character is still pretty much alive and kicking and looks like we are feeling the jealousy from within, wishing we want to experience one of these on our own terms. This is the RS3 that is too cool to be ignored for Gen Z.

Ferrari SF90 Spider

The controversially fast and economical midship PHEV supercar from Ferrari, the SF90, is now offered with a retractable hardtop variant called the SF90 Spider, offering the same thrills as its coupe counterpart but with the foldable roof in it.


Priced almost half a million euros, which is more expensive than its hardtop equivalent, the SF90 Spider is the first-ever PHEV convertible Ferrari made that sets the new gold standard for high-performance PHEVs. As said, the Spider delivers the same thrills as its coupe counterpart but with the foldable roof in it in case you're cruising on the streets of Los Angeles like a proper high-roller with ill-gotten gains after hours.

Like the hardtop equivalent, the SF90 Spider features a plug-in hybrid setup where the turbocharged F154 4.0L V8 engine, producing 780PS of power, is connected to three electric motors, two on the front axle and one between the engine and the 8-speed double-clutch gearbox, resulting to a monstrous 1,000PS of total power output. Although it weighs 25kg more than the normal SF90 Stradale, the performance figures remain the same. 0-100kph time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 340kph.

Fast and scary the Spider is, it still boasts the same F1-inspired dynamics, electronic Traction Control, brake-by-wire control, and torque vectoring as its hardtop equivalent despite the slightly added weight. On the road, it feels civilized, but on the track, it's still as vitriolic as its hardtop equivalent. It's still a true professional driver's car from start to finish. Once hooked, you can't get enough with it until you are truly satisfied.

Subaru WRX S4 (VBH)

The VA-spec Subaru WRX is a decent sports sedan that balances its sensible behavior with the rally-honed performance that you would expect for a Subaru. Although its main rival, the Volvo S60, will eat it alive because of the performance figures between them, it's a no-contest between them because the VB-spec Subaru WRX S4 has arrived and it promises to be as good as the Swedish competitor it idolizes.

Starting at 4,004,000 Japanese Yen (less than $41,000) plus additional costs, the all-new Subaru WRX S4 is proof that the sedan race is still alive and kicking despite being devoured by the rise of crossovers. Although priced cheaper than the Volvo S60, is the all-new WRX S4 the bargain super-saloon of the season? Let's find out.

Let's begin with the design, page one of this deep-dive with the new model. Like the previous model, the WRX S4 is essentially the sedan version of the second-generation Levorg, the sports wagon that won last year's Japan Car of the Year. Although it bears similar looks as its Levorg counterpart, the new WRX S4 differentiates it with its striking sedan looks and some black cladding, which is odd for a sedan like this, although there's nothing new about adding claddings on a saloon because history tells us only a few saloons have practiced it. Still, the new model is strikingly attractive compared to the previous WRX S4, and above all, it's dressed to kill.

Just like the Levorg it was based on, the new WRX S4's interior is festooned with the Tesla-esque dashboard that spells misery for speedo boys behind the wheel as well as the instrumental panel that works just like the Audi Virtual Cockpit. Yep, that's why it's called the WRX S4. What a coincidence, and that doesn't stop here because, in the more expensive STi Sport variants, you will be greeted with the available STi RECARO front seats that snug you tight like a gaming seat. Cozy.

Despite being a Levorg with a trunk, the new WRX S4 is surprisingly comfortable and roomier at the back compared to the previous model, giving you less to complain about, except the evidence of last night's debauchery clattering around in the cockpit.

The new model's flat-four boxer turbo engine's size has been increased from the previous model's 2.0L to 2.4L so you might expect it packs more power compared to the old one but sadly, no. It produces 275PS and 375Nm of torque, which is 25PS less powerful and 25Nm less in torque than the previous model. Less fuel-efficient compared to the old one as well because of its 10.8km/L fuel economy based on WLTC Mode standards. Boo.

Disappointing the performance figures are, the new WRX S4 features a different kind of gearbox built specifically for this car. Called Subaru Performance Transmission, a sport-tuned CVT with an 8-speed manual mode that delivers 30% faster upshifts and 50% faster downshifts compared to the previous WRX S4's Sport Lineartronic CVT. Sounds cheesy but it feels slightly more engaging. Of course, a Volvo S60 will eat it alive at the Shutokou but the jokes on the Swede because Volvos of today are now capped at 180kph, don't you know?

Of course, the new WRX S4 is almost as good and civilized just like the Volvo S60, but out in the open, the Subaru magic comes alive with its Subaru Global Platform, a first for the WRX, reworked suspension setup, and Subaru's legendary Symmetrical AWD, not to mention SI-DRIVE that alters its behavior at the turn of the dial. Mild but menacing, that's what the new model's dynamics best summed up.

After having fun with its mild but menacing dynamics that made the new WRX S4 an enjoyable sports sedan for all levels of driving, it boasts high levels of safety thanks to its EyeSight driver assist with Lane Centering Function and Speed Sign Recognition, among many others. Coupled with the most advanced Driver Monitoring System and Vision Assist technology, the new WRX S4 is about as safe to drive as the Swedes but with the drama involved.

Despite its performance, which feels downgraded compared to the old model, the new WRX S4 feels good to drive from the streets of Tokyo to the corners of Mt. Haruna with its reworked dynamics, striking looks, interior, the questionable Subaru Performance Transmission, and the added tech. Like it or not, the new model is sure enough to get you hooked as your next everyday car. It almost is the bargain of the season because despite being outrun by the Volvo S60, they're on equal footing because while the S60 is focused on being safe, the new WRX S4 is focused on being safe and fun in every way and now you know the rest of the story.

BMW M4 Cabriolet (G83)

The monstrously-grilled BMW M4 is also available in the open-top Cabriolet version and it offers the same driving thrills and spills of the Coupe, now with the foldable hardtop if you're in the mood for open-top driving on sunshine.

Priced at 98,500 Euros plus additional costs, the Cabriolet version of the M4 is more expensive and bulkier than its coupe equivalent but it still behaves like it, not to mention the monstrously-huge vertical kidney grilles at the front to put salt to your wounds.

Of course, behind the monster grilles, the M4 Cabriolet still dons the same reworked dynamics, improved performance, cutting-edge tech, and more, just like its coupe equivalent. The same goes for the interior as well, but don't toy with the Alexa-ish BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant or you'll ruin somebody's day.

The M4 Cabriolet is offered exclusively in Competition trim, donning the same 3.0L twin-turbo six-cylinder engine from the coupe version, producing 510PS of power and 650Nm of torque while mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel-drive system that lets you have fun without the drama involved. 

Despite being heavier than the coupe, which is the main reason why its 0-100kph time has increased to 3.7 seconds compared to the M4 Coupe Competition xDrive's 3.5-second mark, the M4 Cabriolet is still as fun to drive as the coupe because of its sport-tuned dynamics that work wondrously on the road and track, and thanks to its M xDrive all-wheel-drive system that works like the current M5, it's still as addictive as the coupe equivalent. You'll spend the rest of the day cranking the ohms until you are as high as a kite flying in a middle of a thunderstorm.

Just like its coupe equivalent, the M4 Cabriolet is bad plus good equals better for everyone who is man enough to drive this monster.

Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing

The arrival of the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and the CT5-V Blackwing gave speedo boys what the regular V saloons have been missing from the start; muscle car performance and track-honed dynamics that can scare the Germans straight, not to mention the fact that it comes with proper 6-speed MT no German high-performance monsters dared to have.

We begin with the CT4-V Blackwing, Cadillac's answer to the already hideous-looking BMW M3 G80. Priced at a super-expensive 58,995 US Dollars plus additional costs, the CT4-V Blackwing picks up where the normal CT4-V failed to deliver. By adding some steroids to the normal CT4-V, the Blackwing is a different kind of beast that loves to tackle through the hollow mountain roads before setting off for another day at the track and you'll be going to love the way it looks and feels when you take it for a joyride.

Under the hood, the ordinary CT4-V's 2.7L turbocharged engine has been replaced with the 3.6L Twin-Turbo engine derived from its predecessor, the ATS-V, but it's been upgraded to produce 472HP of power and 445lb-ft of torque, which is darn less than what the M3 Competition had but no matter because the CT4-V Blackwing is offered with the choice of a speedo boy favorite 6-speed manual gearbox and a bulkier 10-speed automatic gearbox that propels this CT4-V on steroids to a 0-60mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 189mph. That's an improvement compared to the old ATS-V but when compared to the ugly-looking M3, it's too close to call.

In terms of dynamics, the CT4-V Blackwing behaves like a muscle car. Dynamic and dangerous in every way. Despite its M3 sizing, this is a highly-advanced, high-performance sports sedan made for the experts and pros on the track, and it takes a serious amount of skill to understand how its eLSD, advanced suspension refinements, Launch Control, Performance Traction Management, and MRC 4.0 works. Once settled, the CT4-V Blackwing is as enjoyable as a loose-cannon cowboy in the Wild West.

After you had fun with the CT4-V Blackwing, you should try out the CT5-V Blackwing, the ultimate Cadillac sports saloon ever built. Priced at 83,995 US Dollars plus additional costs, it's the most expensive four-door Cadillac ever sold, and when fully kitted with extras, its six-figure price tag will leave your bank account in shreds and tears. No, not the watery stuff coming out of your eyes.

By turning an ordinary CT5-V into a monster machine, the Blackwing is the ultimate expression of the V-Series mantra, delivering motorsport-level performance on the road and track. Don't let its executive looks fool you because this is an American Blend muscle car that smokes more than a carton of American Blend cigarettes. This is flavor country on wheels and it's highly addictive to drive than the Germans.

Just like its little brother, the normal CT5-V's 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 engine was swapped to a 6.2L Supercharged V8 engine derived from the old CTS-V and the Corvette C7 Z06 but it has been upgraded to produce 668HP of power and 659lb-ft of torque while mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed AT that propels this car from a 0-100kph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of over 200mph. It may be slower than the world's most powerful four-door saloon, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. but it will eat the Germans for breakfast, lunch, and tea, even midnight snacks.

Performance aside, the CT5-V Blackwing comes with eLSD, advanced suspension refinements, Launch Control, Performance Traction Management, and MRC 4.0, among many others. When you take it to the track, you can really experience its muscle car vibes from within. It's surprisingly dynamic but challenging in every way and it's about as challenging as, let's say, studying IELTS nonsense all day long until your brain melts. This is what the CT5-V Blackwing is all about, delivering a gut-wrenching performance that will put the German opposition on notice.

By the time the normal CT4-V and CT5-V arrived, they were not what speedo boys hoped for but they were built for balance on the road and track. With the Blackwing variants, these saloons are bursting with mayhem and with such dynamic and challenging performance, these are what the speedo boys finally want. They really made Cadillac great again.

Toyota GR 86 (ZN8)

Almost a decade ago, Toyota roars back to the sports car business with the 86, a rear-wheel-drive compact sports car built in collaboration with Subaru. It became one of the most popular Japanese sports cars ever made and it landed a role as the hero car from MF GHOST, a comic book made by the same man who did Initial D. It really is the spiritual successor to the legendary Sprinter Trueno AE86. It's the Reiwa era and Toyota's ready for the new normal with an all-new model now called GR 86.

Priced at 2,799,000 Japanese Yen (around $28,000), the new Toyota GR 86 proudly carries over where its predecessor left off while still delivering the same accessible dynamics coveted by speedo boys worldwide. Although it works just like its Subaru twin, the BRZ, it's cheaper to own than its Subaru equivalent, which is surprisingly flinching for speedo boys looking for a reasonably fast sportscar on a budget.

Like the new Subaru BRZ, the Toyota GR 86 features a dramatic exterior design that is sharper-looking than the previous model it replaces, giving speedo boys plenty of reasons to get tempted to drive one and intoxicated by the accessible dynamics this street hero possesses.

The GR 86's new interior is all about being driver-focused and race-inspired, just as what speedo boys wanted for a sportscar like this. Of course, like the previous model, it's got two rear seats which are deemed challenging to squeeze into, and ample boot space for some grocery trips to resupply your man cave. Whatever floats their boats, the GR 86 is all about getting ready for another weekend at the car meet.

The GR 86 utilizes the improved version of its signature platform used by its predecessor. While the new model is similarly sized compared to the old one, the sport-tuned suspension and chassis have been updated to make it more enjoyable to drive than the previous model. On the road and on the track, the new GR 86 is all about stretching itself to entertain its drivers with its rewarding dynamics which are deemed fun for all levels. Great one, Toyota.

Under the hood, the flat-four boxer engine got its size increased from the previous model's 2.0L to 2.4L, resulting in a slightly improved power output of 235PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It has a WLTC-calculated fuel economy of 12km/L for the 6-speed manual variant and 11.8km/L for the 6-speed AT variant.

Just like the new BRZ, automatic variants of the GR 86 feature Driver Assist Technology, consisting of pre-collision safety tech, emergency rescue support, and secondary collision avoidance support. Manual variants don't get one, of course.

The arrival of the Toyota GR 86 shows that sports cars can still shine in the new normal. With its new design, interior, performance, and dynamics, the reborn Hachiroku promises to be a must-have for speedo boys who are driving like there's no tomorrow because, pretty soon, there won't be. Thanks to Japan's imminent move to eradicate ICE-powered cars, the Hachiroku of the Reiwa era would be the last one speedo boys will ever experience.

From its humble beginnings, Maserati is known for making the most iconic racing machines and sportscars for gentlemen who prefer something quintessential and Italian in every way but not Ferrari or Lamborghini. Today's Maserati is nothing more than an Italian BMW because the current lineup consists of the Ghibli and Quattroporte saloons and the Levante SUV. Disagreed, Maserati prepares for its renaissance with the arrival of its brand-new sportscar called the MC20, the sportscar speedo boys can't wait to get their hands on it.

Priced at 210,000 Euros, the MC20 marks the true beginning of the Maserati renaissance and a true return to form where beauty and performance are what Maserati does best.

The story begins with the styling and this is where the MC20 showcases its critical side from every angle. Although mistaken for a lightweight sportscar like the Lotus Evora, the Maserati MC20's styling draws inspiration from the ancient MC12, the comfortable side of the Ferrari Enzo from two decades ago. With looks that can softly kill, the MC20's aerodynamics are beyond expectations.

Step inside the interior and you are greeted with its driver-focused cockpit that gives drivers an impression of driving a racing car on the track. Although track-focused in spirit, it's a well-tailored accessory every gentleman should have, especially when it packs a premium sound system and a Maserati Connect feature for their daily driving commodities. That sounds flashy and cheesy but this is all in the experience of being a high-value Italian sportscar that separates the men from the boys.

Speaking of separating the men from the boys, the main highlight of the MC20 is its performance and this is something everybody's feeling jealous of, wishing they want to drive one someday. Unlike most sportscars donning fancy hybrid tech, the MC20's powertrain is neo-20th-century stuff. It's a brand new 3.0L 6-cylinder twin-turbo Nettuno engine bolted to the middle at 90 degrees. It produces 630PS of power and 730Nm of torque and while mated to an 8-speed DCT, the MC20 can sprint from 0-100kph in 2.9 seconds and can go all the way to 325kph. This is a supercar performance the Italians can take pride in.

Aside from its supercar performance, the MC20's dynamics are worth driving for because underneath, it features a double-wishbone suspension system with active shock absorbers. They can really behave depending on which driving mode you're on; be it on WET, SPORT, CORSA, or on ESC OFF Mode.

Driving in CORSA Mode, the MC20's almost behaving like a true racing car on the track, but when the driver engaged ESC OFF Mode, this is where you'll need your adult diapers because, in this mode, the MC20's going all-out dynamic and it's going to be as crazy as trying to beat your favorite song on the EXPERT difficulty setting. It's struggling at first but when you are familiarized with it, the MC20 is a supercar you can't stop until you are fully satisfied with its result.

Also on the dynamics side, the MC20 really is a lightweight supercar from the start because underneath, it features a composite material monocoque soaked in carbon fiber, and combined with its lightweight materials assembled specifically for this car, it weighs one and a half tons.

The MC20 really marks the new beginning for Maserati and as the world is struggling with the new normal, where crossovers are superheroes, this is the antithesis every car enthusiast needs. With its strikingly great styling, driver-focused interior, and performance that is quintessentially Italian, the MC20 will soon be your newest favorite Italian supercar for the time being.
