Genesis G70 Shooting Brake

The Genesis G70 served as Korea's 3-Series fighter that tries hard to upset the established competition with its unique performance, styling, comfort, and technology. For the first time in Genesis history, the G70 spawned a five-door Shooting Brake variant for those who need more room in the back for more while offering the same driving experience as the sedan.

2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake
2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake

Although it was originally meant to be exclusive to the European market, it seems the Koreans wanted a shooting brake version of the G70 and looks like they're in luck because they can now buy one at the starting price of 43,900,000 Korean Won plus additional costs.

At first glance, it looks and feels like normal G70 judging from the signature Genesis design, the minimalist interior design, and seating for five people, but because this is the Shooting Brake, the hatchback proportions gave this G70 more space than the sedan version, meaning you can expect up to 465-litres of boot space with the rear seats present and up to 1,535-litres with the rear seats folded down. The added boot space means business and business is good for the G70 Shooting Brake.

Unlike the sedan version, the G70 Shooting Brake is offered only with the 2.0L Turbo GDi engine with 252PS of power output while mated to an 8-speed AT. Fuel economy is a combined 10.4km/L for FR variants and 9.7km/L for 4WD variants.

In terms of handling, the Shooting Brake behaves just like the sedan version, which is a good thing full-stop. With its front MacPherson struts, rear multilink suspension, electronically controlled adaptive dampers, Electronic Power Assisted Steering, and a mechanical LSD, the G70 Shooting Brake delivers dynamics reminiscent of European imports. Although it was meant to be driven on European roads, driving one from the streets of Seoul to the corners of Inje Speedium wasn't half bad at all. Above all, it's Korean through and through and it loves to be taken dramatically.

Like the sedan version, the G70 Shooting Brake puts safety as its top priority with its array of ADAS technology such as Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, and more.

Despite being offered with only one engine, the G70 Shooting Brake delivers the same driving experience as the sedan version but with the added rear space for everyday situations. Europeans got their taste of it and now, the Koreans are ready to have a go with it, unless they have to think twice about which G70 they should drive.

Nissan Fairlady Z RZ34

For over five decades, the Nissan Fairlady Z became the second-best thing to come out since the iconic Skyline GT-R. From the Safari to Suzuka, its motorsport pedigree has become the hallmark of the Z lineage. In the midst of the new normal, Nissan didn't give up on the Z bloodline so they've launched the ultimate Z ever made, and the world's on fire with this new version.

2023 Nissan Fairlady Z
2023 Nissan Fairlady Z

Priced at 5,241,500 Japanese Yen plus additional costs, the reborn Fairlady Z promises to be the ultimate Z car speedo boys are yearning for. Despite its new looks, there's something odd about this car. Why stick to the Z34 chassis code? The styling inspired by the Z Proto concept looks brand new to them but it's still a Z34 underneath, therefore it's still a Heisei-era car recalibrated for the Reiwa era. Still, because most of the stuff is new, they've labeled this Fairlady Z as the RZ34 and the R stands for Reiwa. It's a Z34 reworked for the Reiwa era.

2023 Nissan Fairlady Z
2023 Nissan Fairlady Z

Like the Z Proto concept, the front design draws inspiration from the 240ZG, while the side view is inspired by the original S30 Fairlady Z, and the rear view design is inspired by the Z32. Although similarly sized compared to the previous Z34, the retro-inspired design is the stuff of legends.

2023 Nissan Fairlady Z
2023 Nissan Fairlady Z interior

The interior is newly reworked and driver-focused so speedo boys can enjoy driving behind the wheel. From its triple pod cluster, race-inspired gauges, a GT-R-styled steering wheel, and new performance seats, the new interior gives drivers the feeling of driving a race car on the road and track, from the Tokyo highways to the corners of Suzuka Circuit.

2023 Nissan Fairlady Z
2023 Nissan Fairlady Z

Because the Fairlady Z RZ34 is all about returning from its roots, it's now powered by a 3.0L V6 Twin Turbo engine lifted from the Skyline V37 400R. It produces 405PS of power, and 475Nm of torque, and can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed AT. In addition to the new monotube shocks, new front geometry, increased rigidity, available sport brakes, mechanical LSD, and rear suspension tuning, the RZ34 features, for the first time, available launch control and electric power steering. The latter can be somewhat upsetting for purists behind the wheel just like the time when the Porsche 911 991 comes with it.

Despite being bulky to drive due to the electric power steering drama, it's still worth an enjoyable car to drive on the road and on the track. Whether you're beating the rush hour traffic or beating personal lap times, the Fairlady Z RZ34's improved dynamics are what made it the best Z car to drive full-stop. As for fuel economy, the RZ34 is good from 9.5 to 10.2km/L based on WLTC Mode standards.

Because being the Z car built for the new normal, the Fairlady Z RZ34 features Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which is a range of active safety systems consisting of Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent FCW, LDW, Hill Start Assist, BSW, RCTA, Hi-Beam Assist, Intelligent Emergency Brake, front and back sonar, and more. Although startling for speedo boys behind the wheel, who cares about them. Some speedo boys are toying around with autonomous tech nowadays.

The Fairlady Z RZ34 is still a Heisei-era Z-car underneath but the improvements really made the RZ34 the Z car fit for the Reiwa era. The European-built, BMW Z4-derived Toyota GR Supra should be worrying right now because its worst nightmare has come true in the form of the Nissan Fairlady Z RZ34.

It may be known as the ultimate Fairlady Z ever made, but it made a lot of bitter sacrifices to become a living thing such as losing its European fans because of the fact that Nissan will not sell the RZ34 to the Old Continent for numerous reasons. For speedo boys in America, Japan, and other countries permitted to sell it, will the RZ34 Fairlady Z be hit or a miss?  Only time will tell...

Mercedes-Benz EQE

Think of the first-ever EQE as a mini-me EQS that has been shrunk down to E-Class sizing but promises to be as good as its big brother. Time to uncover this theory about Mercedes's newest luxury electric sedan.

2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE
2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE

The first-ever Mercedes EQE, priced at 70,627 Euros plus additional costs, is basically a miniaturized version of the EQS because when you observe its design, it really is an EQS that was shrunk to E-Class sizing. That's how German luxury carmakers roll these days and this new model is no exception, no doubt about it. Despite being smaller than the EQS, the EQE is surprisingly stylish and functional at the same time, although it looks as round as an egg when you squirt your eyes hard.

2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE
2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE interior

When you talk about the interior, the EQE's dashboard can be configured in two ways; a tall touchscreen that works like a Tesla or the super-sized touchscreen that occupies the entire dashboard which is known as the MBUX Hyperscreen. Either way, they're both challenging to understand for speedo boys behind the wheel because of touchscreens. Troublesome the touchscreens are, not to mention the fact that no existing USB connectors are compatible because it works with USB-C ones instead of normal USBs, the spacing is where the EQE made an impression because it's surprisingly roomier than today's E-Class, even though the rear seats don't have fancy bits and bobs that ultra-luxury cars possess. The boot space is good for 430L, mind you.

2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE
2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE

At launch, the EQE 350+ is rear-wheel-drive as standard, and it's powered by an EM0027 electric motor that produces 292PS of power and 565Nm of torque. It does 0-100kph in 6.4 seconds and has a limited top speed of 210kph, which is quick enough, no doubt about it. As for range, the EQE 350+ is good for 639km on one full charge and when plugged into a public charging station, it will take about 32 minutes to reach 80% capacity.

Despite being rear-wheel-drive and its ultra-sophisticated suspension setup available, the bulk of its electric powertrain gave the EQE a mild driving feel. Although not too exciting to drive, it feels somewhat civilized and cozy to drive on a day-by-day basis. You can truly whistle while your boss is napping in the back seat.

2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE 43
2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE 43

Those who want more should consider the pumped-up Mercedes-AMG EQE 43. While using the same 91kWh battery pack as the normal EQE, the additional electric motor gave it 4WD capability, meaning the powertrain has been boosted to 476PS of power and 858Nm of torque, this means it can go from 0-100kph in 4.2 seconds while the top speed is still 210kph. The range for this thing is good for 532km in one full charge. Despite its AMG dynamics and its 4WD layout, it still has a mild driving feel.

Keeping up with the new normal, the EQE features a high level of passive and active safety including a new microsleep warning from the ATTENTION ASSIST which detects driver drowsiness. Of course, there are plenty of high-tech safety features speedo boys may end up running scared but who cares about it.

So, the EQE may be more of a mini-me EQS but it works like it, almost. Like it or not, this new electric sedan from Mercedes deserves a lot of attention, and the world's itching to drive one someday.

BMW 2-Series Coupe G42

The controversially confused 2-Series branding managed to live on with the latest version of BMW's baby two-door coupe and unlike today's 1-Series hatchback and its 2-Series Gran Coupe relative, this two-door 2-Series Coupe prefers to be rear-wheel drive just like its predecessor, something akin to Toyota's AE86 from the past. Never mind the Axis nonsense because it's time to have a word with the all-new 2-Series Coupe.

2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe

Priced at 39,700 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new 2-Series Coupe retains the rear-wheel-drive layout from its predecessor, a nod for hardline Bimmer purists who felt disgusted over the luxury carmaker's trends of today.

Beginning with the design, the G42 2-Series Coupe can be easily mistaken for a Rover 200 Coupe juiced up by the yardies. Yardies aside, it's nearly identical to the previous model it replaces, and thanks to such compact proportions, despite being slightly bigger than its predecessor, you can truly slip through the streets like a show-off.

2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe interior

Step inside and its familiar Bimmer interior layout is not like the ones found in its unrelated machines such as the 1-Series and the totally unrelated 2-Series Gran Coupe as expected because the folks from BMW wanted their new 2-Series Coupe to be away from the pack and be original because this is the only rear-wheel-drive 2-Series car you'll be getting.

For a two-door sports coupe with two extra seats in the back, the new model hasn't escaped the tech reality because it's armed with the available BMW Live Cockpit Professional powered by BMW Operating System 7, allowing drivers to take advantage of its technological marvel including its smartphone integration, OTA updates, Driving Assistant, and the most annoying feature of all, the Amazon Alexa Car Integration. Don't worry, you'll be using this by yourself because you're driving solo while toying around with its toys.

2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe

Being the only small rear-wheel-drive luxury sports coupe in existence, the all-new BMW 2-Series Coupe loves to handle like a serious sports car because of its reworked aerodynamics, suspension, and chassis, not to mention lightweight materials involved in the making of this car as well as Variable sport steering, M Sport braking system, Adaptive M suspension, and the M Sport differential. When you take it to the corners, it feels so dramatic and enjoyable to drive full-stop. You'll spend a couple of minutes appreciating just how great its dynamics are.

Under the hood, the new 2-Series Coupe is powered by a choice of a 2.0L petrol, 2.0L diesel, and in the case of the M240i xDrive, a 3.0L 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine with 374PS of power while mated with 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

While the 2-Series Coupe is meant to be enjoyed on a daily basis, its driver assistance systems rather spoil its sporty character. Such example is the standard Front-collision warning, Speed Limit Info, and Lane Departure Warning, not to mention the available Driving Assistant and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function.

With the new 2-Series Coupe no longer related to its front-wheel-drive equivalents, this is nearly a win for the purists because, despite its controversial styling, it's still one of the most enjoyable sports cars for the price of a Honda Civic Type R FK8. A real bargain.

Genesis G90 (RS4)

When the Genesis luxury brand from Hyundai Motor Group was launched in 2015, the EQ900 was the maiden vehicle of their newly established luxury brand until it was replaced by the G90 in 2018. Nearly a decade has passed and the Genesis brand is becoming the rising star that competes against the German top dogs. Now, the Genesis luxury car that started it all is now redefined for this decade as the G90 enters its second generation.

2023 Genesis G90
2023 Genesis G90

Priced at 91,000,000 Korean Won plus additional costs, the all-new Genesis G90 is a bold new take on the first car of the Genesis brand that promises to pick where its predecessor left off and looks like it's on a bold jumpstart. With its new platform, new design, new technology, and new performance, the all-new G90 rewrites the rules of what Korean luxury cars are made for and looks like it has the whole world on notice.

Beginning with the design, the all-new G90 looks slimmer and sharper compared to its predecessor, which is a great thing until the rearview slightly spoils the athletic looks of this new model. Like today's Genesis models, the all-new G90 incorporates signature Genesis elements such as the front face heavily inspired by the Genesis logo. Although it's controversially massive for a luxury car a la BMW 7-Series, it still boasts some swagger while driving at Gangnam like a true professional.

2023 Genesis G90 interior

Inside, the all-new G90 delivers what to expect on a high-end luxury premium sedan made in Korea. On the driver's side, you will be greeted by its next-generation infotainment system provided by its massive panel with two screens; one for the instrumental cluster and the other for its infotainment system that can be controlled via a knob rather than a touchscreen. Below, there are climate control switches for when you want to adjust its room temperature, be it hot or cool. And lastly, the rear seat armrest storage box features a UV sterilization function which kills 99.9% of germs within 10 minutes. Believe it or not, the new model comes with a fingerprint authentication system similar to the new Toyota Land Cruiser, not to mention the Digital Key 2 service which allows users to get inside without the help of a car key as long as the smartphone equipped with it is nearby.

2023 Genesis G90
2023 Genesis G90

Being a chauffeur-driven machine made to cater to the elite, the rear space is where the G90 shines and because it never runs short on concessions of comfort, not to mention the added legroom for the Long Wheelbase variant, you'll find that the new model is so much more comfortable than its predecessor, giving you the "out on a limo" feeling you might brag about to almost everyone.

Unlike the previous model, the all-new G90 is offered only with the turbocharged 3.5L engine that produces 380PS of power and 54kgf-m of torque while mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox operated via an Electronic Shift Dial. The LWB variant features a 48V electric supercharger bolted to the said engine but more with that later on.

Because it now runs on a new platform, the all-new G90 feels more dramatic and classier to drive compared to its predecessor, even when you set it to Sport Mode for its agile style approach. Combined with its Active RWS, multi-chamber air suspension, and optional AWD system and you got yourself a luxury premium sedan capable of handling all kinds of road situations. As for the Brake Mode, there's one mode that will have you noticed and that's Chauffeur Mode. Set it and it delivers a more comfortable braking feel without spilling someone else's soda while on a relaxing trip to Tagaytay.

In tune with the times, the all-new G90 boasts a wide array of safety tech such as the Direct Grip Detection System, Highway Driving Assist 2, navigation-based smart cruise control, forward collision-avoidance assist, rear-side collision avoidance assist, rearview monitor, Lane Departure Prevention Assist, Lane Mantinenance Assistance, intelligent headlamp, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, reverse guide lamp, Remote Smart Parking Assist, surround-view monitor, safe exit assist, parking collision prevention assist, and 10 airbags.

The all-new G90 is now prepared to continue the Genesis legacy that started nearly a decade ago with its new and interesting ways to impress connoisseurs and sommeliers of the motoring world with its design, performance, and technology. This is the tour de force the Koreans have unleashed on the world stage and looks like this new model is on a roll.

BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe (G26) and i4

The controversially-styled, second-generation BMW 4-Series is now available in Gran Coupe form, giving Bimmers what is like when today's 3-Series looks like this. If that wasn't enough, it even spawn its electric equivalent, the i4. It's investigation time, kids.

The new 4-Series Gran Coupe, priced at 45,800 Euros plus additional costs, and its i4 equivalent, priced at 58,300 Euros, are stark reminders of what happens when today's 3-Series wear the controversial front its coupe equivalent donned from the very start.

BMW is now living in an era of big grilles speedo boys call it nonsense and this Gran Coupe is no exception. The 4-Series Gran Coupe bears the same burden as its two-door equivalent but with two extra doors added, it adds some beauty to its controversial looks, meaning it's not half bad to look at it. The same goes for the i4 because while it strives to mimic the concept car's roots, there's no hiding the fact that's basically a 4-Series Gran Coupe with an electric powertrain.

Like the two-door equivalent, the interior still works like every BMW does and it packs gadgets to toy with especially the annoying voice control that your camera-toting mate will find it too much to bear. Thanks to two additional doors, it's roomier than the two-door version and easy to get in and out from the back.

Under the hood, you have a choice of either a 2.0L petrol, a 2.0L diesel (the one to avoid since this is Europe today), and then this; the 374PS 3.0L 6-cylinder turbocharged engine from the range-topper M440i xDrive variant. All variants are mated to an 8-speed Steptronic as standard as well as the micro-hybrid nonsense as well. As for the dynamics, the new 4 Gran Coupe drives better than the old one because of its low center of gravity, improved dynamics, sport-tuned chassis, and suspension setup, and others. In its normal rear-wheel-drive guise, it still works like a real BMW most speedo boys adorned, but with xDrive on the M440i, expect punchlines that will get you hooked for more.

The i4, meanwhile, bears a similar story. The normal variants are rear-wheel-drive only but the M50 variant is all-wheel-drive and because being all-wheel-drive with an extra electric motor in it, the power output is a total 544PS of power, more than today's M4 Competition, 795Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of 225kph. As for range, it's good for 512km based on WLTP standards.

Even with two extra doors and with the addition of the i4, it still has the case of "bad plus good equals better for everyone", just like the entire 4-Series range.

Daihatsu Atrai (S700/10)

The Daihatsu Atrai is a tiny kei multipurpose van that caters to every Japanese people's lifestyle wherever they see fit. Whether if it's made for working, outing, whatever floats their boats, the Atrai is the ideal partner they can rely on. Now on its 6th generation, the all-new Atrai is now the best Atrai they'll ever buy because of its added space and better dynamics that made it even more usable than before.

2022 Daihatsu Atrai

The all-new Daihatsu Atrai starts at 1,562,000 Japanese Yen plus additional costs and it's about time they've regenerated the Atrai after a long time. While it was worth the wait, the all-new Atrai features a more boxy design and larger dimensions compared to the previous model it replaces, becoming a four-number kei van fit for all walks of life. Although bigger than the previous model, the all-new Atrai is still small and easy to squeeze through Japan's tightest hotspots.

2022 Daihatsu Atrai interior

Thanks to its added size, the new interior is roomier than the previous model, although this van is good for four people, which is ideal for families with one or two kids. Although there's nothing special about the dashboard, apart from the fact that you can slap a touch screen to it at an additional cost, the boot is where the Atrai shines. With the rear seats folded down, there are countless possibilities you can think of with the new Atrai. You can turn it into a nice little sleeper, your workplace away from work, a campsite, and so on. There's so much you can do in such a tiny little van.

There's more, the all-new Atrai comes with class-first features such as dual power-sliding doors, keyless entry, and a welcome open function that can open its doors automatically when the owner approaches near the Atrai.

If you want something unique, you can opt-in for a Deck Van variant, which made its comeback in this new model. It's a pickup-esque variant that is capable of carrying up to 250kg of load at its bed.

2022 Daihatsu Atrai

For the first time in an FR kei cab-over van, the all-new Atrai is mated with a CVT gearbox in place of the previous model's 4AT, which sucks for some drivers but whatever. The 660cc petrol engine and the CVT gearbox delivered an impressive fuel economy of 14.7km/L based on WLTC Mode standards in both FR and 4WD layouts.

Being tiny do has its upsides in Japan's driving conditions and because of its 4.2m turning radius and its DNGA platform underneath, it feels very easy to drive. However, if you are opting for the 4WD variant, there's so much to enjoy driving the all-new Atrai everywhere because of its three driving modes; 2WD, 4WD AUTO, and 4WD LOCK. Handy if you're traversing through dirt while in the woods, hunting, or fishing.

In the issue of safety, the all-new Atrai comes with Smart Assist, which consists of 14 advanced active safety features that will keep it safe everywhere.

The sixth-generation Atrai is now the easiest and the most usable Atrai you'll ever buy despite the CVT gearbox that made it feel regular. With its impressive boot space, the return of the Deck Van variant, bigger dimensions, and the DNGA platform that resulted in better dynamics, it's ready to take on the new normal in a way unexpected for a tiny van. The more your know.

Toyota GR 86 (ZN8)

Almost a decade ago, Toyota roars back to the sports car business with the 86, a rear-wheel-drive compact sports car built in collaboration with Subaru. It became one of the most popular Japanese sports cars ever made and it landed a role as the hero car from MF GHOST, a comic book made by the same man who did Initial D. It really is the spiritual successor to the legendary Sprinter Trueno AE86. It's the Reiwa era and Toyota's ready for the new normal with an all-new model now called GR 86.

2022 Toyota GR 86

Priced at 2,799,000 Japanese Yen (around $28,000), the new Toyota GR 86 proudly carries over where its predecessor left off while still delivering the same accessible dynamics coveted by speedo boys worldwide. Although it works just like its Subaru twin, the BRZ, it's cheaper to own than its Subaru equivalent, which is surprisingly flinching for speedo boys looking for a reasonably fast sportscar on a budget.

2022 Toyota GR 86

Like the new Subaru BRZ, the Toyota GR 86 features a dramatic exterior design that is sharper-looking than the previous model it replaces, giving speedo boys plenty of reasons to get tempted to drive one and intoxicated by the accessible dynamics this street hero possesses.

2022 Toyota GR 86 interior

The GR 86's new interior is all about being driver-focused and race-inspired, just as what speedo boys wanted for a sportscar like this. Of course, like the previous model, it's got two rear seats which are deemed challenging to squeeze into, and ample boot space for some grocery trips to resupply your man cave. Whatever floats their boats, the GR 86 is all about getting ready for another weekend at the car meet.

2022 Toyota GR 86

The GR 86 utilizes the improved version of its signature platform used by its predecessor. While the new model is similarly sized compared to the old one, the sport-tuned suspension and chassis have been updated to make it more enjoyable to drive than the previous model. On the road and on the track, the new GR 86 is all about stretching itself to entertain its drivers with its rewarding dynamics which are deemed fun for all levels. Great one, Toyota.

Under the hood, the flat-four boxer engine got its size increased from the previous model's 2.0L to 2.4L, resulting in a slightly improved power output of 235PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It has a WLTC-calculated fuel economy of 12km/L for the 6-speed manual variant and 11.8km/L for the 6-speed AT variant.

Just like the new BRZ, automatic variants of the GR 86 feature Driver Assist Technology, consisting of pre-collision safety tech, emergency rescue support, and secondary collision avoidance support. Manual variants don't get one, of course.

The arrival of the Toyota GR 86 shows that sports cars can still shine in the new normal. With its new design, interior, performance, and dynamics, the reborn Hachiroku promises to be a must-have for speedo boys who are driving like there's no tomorrow because, pretty soon, there won't be. Thanks to Japan's imminent move to eradicate ICE-powered cars, the Hachiroku of the Reiwa era would be the last one speedo boys will ever experience.

Nissan Caravan E26 (2022 minor change)

Since its 2012 launch, the NV350 Caravan (E26) made to be the most fuel-efficient and stylish Japanese commercial ever made, making it the fitting choice for Japanese families and entrepreneurs. For the 2022 model year, the E26 has been revised with a new look and a new name. It's no longer called the NV350 Caravan. It's now back as the Nissan Caravan or Urvan in some countries.

2022 Nissan Caravan

2022 Nissan Caravan

The Nissan Caravan E26 has been revised for the 2022 model year. Priced at 2,412,300 yen plus additional costs, it features numerous improvements to keep Nissan's answer to the ancient Toyota Hiace prepped for more.

Beginning with the exterior, the latest minor change features a revised front face that proudly wears the new Nissan logo that first debuted on the Ariya electric crossover. At the back, well, you can see the new Nissan logo on it and that's pretty much it.

Like before, the new Nissan Caravan is offered in various configurations such as the van model suitable for the small business owners, the wagon model fit for ten people, the widebody variant, the 14-seater microbus variant for your UV Express needs, the multi-head variant for the outdoorsmen, the transporter model for your bike, the cargo model for delivery use, the LV model for the handicapped, and for the more serious adventurers, the ProStyle variant.

2022 Nissan Caravan

2022 Nissan Caravan interior

The interior has been slightly revised for the facelift as well. On the driver's side, it now dons an identical steering wheel that has been featured in numerous Nissan models of today as well as the enlarged fine vision meter for added visibility. They've even revamped the seating to make it more comfortable than the previous model and apart from that, the new interior's less prone to bacteria as well thanks to some extensive use of antibacterial material implemented to the revised interior.

2022 Nissan Caravan

Buried under the driver's seat just like the ancient Toyota Hiace, the new Caravan E26 is powered by a choice of a 2.0L and 2.5L petrol engine with the latter producing 147PS of power, 213Nm of torque, and has a fuel economy of up to 8.7kmpl on the WLTC scale. Both engines are now mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with a manual mode for those who are in a mood for shifting. A diesel variant will come later.

Like the previous model, the new Caravan E26 is rear-wheel-drive by default but it can be offered with a part-time 4WD system that can be engaged at the push of the button. Handy if you want to go rough elsewhere.

In the issue of safety, the intelligent emergency brake is now standard for all models, and depending on the variant, the new Caravan comes with an intelligent room mirror and intelligent around-view monitor so it can fully exploit its safety features unheard for a boxy van like this. Couple that with numerous driving aids such as the omnidirectional driving support system, LDW, misstep collision prevention assist, sign detection function, and high beam assist, and you got yourself the safest Caravan ever made for the new normal.

The Caravan E26 is almost a decade old but with the latest minor change, it truly defies its age in order to keep itself prepped for the new normal. For those who think that the current Toyota Hiace is as ancient as Sazae-san, consider the facelifted E26 Caravan as your best alternative. The more you know.

New Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer

Five decades ago, there was an ancient cross-country vehicle known the world over as the Jeep Wagoneer. Produced for over 28 years with numerous minor changes, it was known to be one of the longest-running vehicles in American history. Fast forward to today and the Wagoneer is back as the luxury side of Jeep. The legend returns and it's ready to redefine the SUVs of the 21st century the American way. Let's have a quick dive with the 21st-century Wagoneer, the modern take of the legendary SUV that reshaped America.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer

2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

The folks from Stellantis don't want everybody to call the Wagoneer a Jeep because the 21st-century Wagoneer is a luxury extension of the Jeep brand. Whatever the reason, despite the signature Jeep grille on the front, there are no signs of Jeep markings in it, making the Wagoneer range a separate entity or whatever the reason, much like the Mustang from Ford or the Corvette from Chevrolet.

Anyway, the 21st-century Wagoneer is offered with two different versions to choose from such as the normal Wagoneer, which is priced at 68,590 US Dollars plus additional costs, and the ultra-luxurious Grand Wagoneer, which is priced at an ultra-expensive 87,590 US Dollars plus additional costs.

Beginning with the design, the Wagoneer stays faithful to its concept form first previewed last year. For a glorified Grand Cherokee catered for the 1%, the new Wagoneer's boxy styling and rugged character show its true nature as an American-made SUV promises to make America great again, whatever the reason. The normal Wagoneer variant is good to look at because of its pioneer image surrounding it but on the ultra-expensive Grand Wagoneer, its showboating looks delivers a lasting impression while placed on a metropolitan setting. Either way, they're both byproducts of real American values.

The interior may not be as large as a Chevrolet Suburban but the new Wagoneer is still a practical, common-sense SUV with three-row seating fit for family use.

While it boasts the best second-row and third-row legroom in its class, the results are somewhat not typical because whether if you're looking to nail its sweet spot or hitting yourself with the "out on a limo" feeling, you'd better start praying that the second-row seats are either separated so you can easily get through the third-row seating or in case the second-row seats accommodate three, pray that no child seats flooded the entire second-row or you'll be in big trouble getting through the third-row seating.

On the driver's side, the new Wagoneer's dashboard looks broadly similar to the latest Grand Cherokee but with some nice touches on it. Yes, it has a touch-screen sat-nav to play around with, but it's got two buttons mounted in it so you can easily adjust the volume or change radio stations without the hassle. One thing you'll get noticed is the rotary gear dial that is similar to what Jaguars and Land Rovers had today.

The Grand Wagoneer's interior, meanwhile, is high class indeed. Of course, it still packs three-row seating just like the normal Wagoneer but it boasts the most cargo volume behind the third row in its class, more than enough to carry either a golf bag on a trip to the country club or sensitive cargo in case of confidential missions. The best bits in the Grand Wagoneer's interior are the extensive use of handcrafted materials in the making of its seats, a classic combination of American walnut and authentic metal surfaces, and an extra touch screen above the glovebox. If you are prepared to pay a six-figure price tag for such privileges, the Grand Wagoneer's the luxury SUV that will upset the competition.

As most people would say that the new Wagoneer runs on similar mechanicals as today's RAM 1500, you would expect that it's a tough cross-country machine built for all walks of life. Looks like they were right, almost. Because of such mechanicals, the new Wagoneer is offered as either a rear-wheel-drive or a four-wheel-drive with three different variations while the new Grand Wagoneer is offered only in the highest four-wheel-drive configuration, known as the Quadra-Trac II with rear eLSD and a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio.

The Wagoneer is powered by a 5.7L V8 engine with eTorque that produces 392HP of power and 404lb-ft of torque. The Grand Wagoneer, meanwhile, is powered by the 6.4L V8 engine that produces 470HP of power and 455lb-ft of torque. They're both mated to an eight-speed AT. In terms of towing, the normal Wagoneer can tow up to 10,000lbs while the Grand Wagoneer, despite its powerful engine, can tow less than 10,000lbs. Pity that the lesser one has more muscle than its final form if you know what I mean.

Built for almost all walks of life, both the new Wagoneer and the new Grand Wagoneer are packed with the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System that allows the driver to choose a wide variety of settings that fit through different road conditions with the Auto mode allowing the SUV to adapt through almost everything. It even comes with the Quadra-Lift Air Suspension that can be raised or lowered depending on which road it faces.

The Grand Wagoneer can do so much more because of its active two-speed transfer case with Selec-Speed Control, giving it more capability to ascend or descend through various road elevations thanks to its hill ascent and hill descent control features. With such numerous features, it seems that the Grand Wagoneer is the better cross-country vehicle than the normal Wagoneer and looks like rivals such as the Lincoln Navigator and the Cadillac Escalade are wishing they had their mommies with them.

Both the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer comes with a wide array of safety features such as the available Surround View Camera with washer, Active Lane Management System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, and many others.

It's no wonder why the new Wagoneer range from Jeep is the most expensive Jeeps you can buy because of its "American Premium" status. Made by the Americans for the 1-percent Americans who prefer free-market capitalism, this is the prime example of how American capitalism practiced, whatever the reason.

Of course, being part of a company colonized by Europeans, the 21st-century Wagoneer still embodies the same can-do American spirit.

Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The Jeep Grand Cherokee enters its fifth generation, but not in a way you've expected it to be. Why? Because the newest version kicked off with the first-ever three-row variant known as the Grand Cherokee L. So, what's it all about the first three-row Grand Cherokee in history?

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The first-ever Grand Cherokee L starts at 38,635 US Dollars plus additional costs, which is more expensive than its equivalent, the Dodge Durango. While the Durango is made for showoffs who love to go louder in a big way, the Grand Cherokee L is made for cowboys and equestrians alike. From exploring through the Utah mountains to driving through Michelin-starred restaurants in the streets of Hollywood, from bringing exploration stuff for your next outdoor adventure to escorting VIPs, the Grand Cherokee L is built for almost all kinds of jobs.

In terms of design, the new Grand Cherokee's exterior is well-sculpted and handsomely reskinned from the previous model. Although adventurous in spirit, the long-wheelbase form is the key point of the new model, and whichever way you look at it, it's a Jeep thing indeed. One thing that will have everybody noticed is the implementation of the American flag near the Grand Cherokee banner, proof that it's proudly made by Americans for the so-called free world.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L interior

Checking the interior, Jeep put a lot of effort into redefining the Grand Cherokee lineage as a luxury utility vehicle built for all kinds of situations. On the driver's side, they are greeted with a string of high-tech stuff from the instrumental cluster to the touch screen sat-nav with no buttons and dials to control the volume, which spells bad news for speedo boys behind the wheel. Good thing the climate control still has dials, which is essential indeed for a luxury car like this. Another nuisance for speedo boys behind the wheel is the rotary gear dial akin to Jaguars and Land Rovers of today.

Troublesome the driver's side is for speedo boys behind the wheel, the passenger side is where the Grand Cherokee L shines and because being the long-wheelbase Grand Cherokee, it has seating up to six or seven passengers. Whether if it's for a family outing, road-tripping with your friends, or escorting VIPs to their destinations, the three-row layout of the Grand Cherokee L really is the jack-of-all-trades or in some cases, jack-of-all-tirades. Take the second-row seats for instance. With the console or seat blocking the middle in the expensive versions, you'll have difficulty getting through the third-row seats but in cheaper versions without the massive thing in the middle, getting through the third-row seats is as easy as ABC.

Like most SUVs, the passenger seats can be folded down to accumulate up to 84.6 cubic feet of boot space. Enough room to fit your newly bought 8K TV from your nearest Costco or two BMXs for your next cycling trip.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The Grand Cherokee L is powered by a choice of two petrol engines; a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with an updated engine start-stop technology and a more powerful 5.7L V8 engine with cylinder shut-off technology, all mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The V6 engine produces 290hp of power and 257lb-ft of torque while the V8 engine produces 357hp of power, 390lb-ft of torque, and has a towing capacity of up to 7,200 pounds.

The Grand Cherokee L is rear-wheel-drive by default but when opted with the four-wheel-drive configuration, it features numerous capabilities such as the available Quadra-Trac II with rear eLSD, Selec-Terrain traction management, and many others. Opt-in for the Overland variant with the available Off-Road Group and you'll have a Grand Cherokee L that can tackle almost everywhere with water fording through up to 24 inches of water, up to 10.9 inches of ground clearance, higher levels of articulation, and more.

Built on a new unibody architecture and improved dynamics underneath, the Grand Cherokee L, despite its long wheelbase, drives neatly like a proper luxury car. Not dynamic as such but it's surprisingly mild to drive on the streets and when taken off-road, it's almost as great to drive as a Land Rover Discovery.

The Grand Cherokee L boasts the most available safety and security features in its class. With such safety features equipped inside and out, the Grand Cherokee L is by no means the safest SUV in its class. Out of all the safety equipment that got drivers noticed, the night vision camera is the top pick. Although not military-grade, it's a cool safety feature that works after hours. What's also cool is the Interior Rear Monitoring Camera feature, which is ideal for those who want to check their little toddlers or fragile objects without looking away from the road. And then, there's the Digital Rearview Mirror that uses an LCD monitor for a distraction-free behind view.

The Grand Cherokee L is the luxurious, most capable, and technologically advanced SUV that emerged from the Land of the Brave and Home of the Free. Whether if you're a cowboy who loves taking it through the wild side or an equestrian who prefers a civilized life in the urban environment, this SUV is built for all walks of life, whether you like it or not.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206

Adapting through the new normal, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been fully regenerated with S-Class looks, luxurious interior, sophisticated technology, and the performance you'd expect from the junior of the rear-wheel-drive Mercedes saloons. Let's have a quick dive into the new W206 model.

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate

Starting at 41,138 Euros plus additional costs, the W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is available in sedan and estate at launch and being the most advanced C-Class to date that can adapt through the new normal, this new model is all about keeping its avantgarde charm alive and well while cruising on the city streets as well as being an enjoyable weekend getaway vehicle on the open road. Either way, it's all business and pleasure with the new model.

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate

So, what's it all about the new design? Well, truth be told, the new model is nothing more of a miniaturized S-Class for whatever reason, meaning the Russian doll effect is pretty much the new normal like most luxury carmakers these days. When parked alongside its big brothers, it's hard to distinguish which is which but anyway, it's the sizing that counts, not the way it looks.

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate interior

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class interior

The same story goes to the new interior because like the new S-Class, the new C-Class dons the Tesla-like large touch screen that scares speedo boys straight because there are no buttons on this screen of course. To add more salt to the speedo boys' wounds, the new C-Class is fitted with the MBUX user interface including the Alexa-ish "Hey Mercedes" voice function that allows almost anyone to speak with this car much to the annoyance of anyone in the sweet spot.

Of course, while most of its new tech features are fun to play but easy to get bored with, what about the spacing? As Mercedes insists, the new C-Class is surprisingly roomier than the previous model, meaning VIPs from all walks of life are going to have a word about it on the boardroom. In the Estate variant, it's now 30 liters larger than the previous model, giving everyone more space for some goods to carry or deliver, whichever they'll come across. With more loads of room to spare, the new C-Class really is business in motion.

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

What about performance? The new C-Class features a wide roster of fuel-efficient and high-performance 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines offered and they're all mated to a 9G-TRONIC gearbox. They also carry an integrated starter-generator with a 48v onboard electrical system for a slight bump on fuel efficiency because, in the new normal, efficiency is king and it's here to stay.

The most powerful variant at launch is the C300 with the 279PS 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that propels from 0 to 100kph in six seconds and a limited top speed of 250kph.

On the dynamics side, the new C-Class drives better than the previous model thanks to its improved suspension setup and rear-axle steering. Not only it's more dynamic on the open road than the old model but it's also quieter and more civilized than ever before, giving the competition more reasons to explain what went wrong and with the 4MATIC drive system present, the new C-Class is a no-nonsense all-rounder that loves to be taken seriously, almost.

Because the new C-Class adapts to the new normal, expect plenty of safety features that will terrify speedo boys behind the wheel such as intelligent parking systems, driving assistance systems, DIGITAL LIGHT, and other high-tech safety features added or to be added in the new model.

Call it a mini-S-Class for all the wrong barrels, call it witchcraft because of its tech overload, call it what you may, but in terms of quality and overall satisfaction, the new C-Class is all business and pleasure in every way. It really is the luxury car that can truly adapt to the new normal and although speedo boys don't like it because of its monstrous list of tech implemented as well as the massive touch screen on the dashboard, the civilized and the privileged are more than happy to be obliged with the new C-Class. It's avantgarde done right.

Subaru BRZ ZD8

A decade ago, Subaru and Toyota collaborated on a new rear-wheel-drive sportscar project that gave birth to the two icons; the Toyota 86 and the Subaru BRZ. The Toyota side is a spiritual rebirth of the iconic AE86 Sprinter Trueno and Corolla Levin while the Subaru side is, let's just say, a sacrilege to Subaru's image as an AWD specialist and treason to Subaru's heritage if you may. It's the Reiwa era and the era of a new normal we live in and as Toyota and Subaru unveiled their new versions, the second-generation BRZ goes first.

2022 Subaru BRZ

With prices start at 3,080,000 Japanese yen plus additional costs, the second-generation Subaru BRZ joins the list of Reiwa era Japanese sportscars spearheaded by Toyota's GR Supra and it's proof that in the midst of the new normal, Japan still makes sports cars speedo boys will enjoy.

2022 Subaru BRZ

Although the new model is similarly sized compared to its predecessor, thanks to the fact that it uses an improved version of its signature platform instead of the SGP that today's Subarus don, the new styling really means business for the second-generation BRZ. From its dramatic new front design to its sharp new rear angle, every way you look at the new model is quintessential and you'll have plenty of reasons to swap your old BRZ for the new one. Tempted? Well, you should be.

2022 Subaru BRZ interior

The new interior is all about being driver-focused and race-inspired especially when you can't get enough toying with the switches in the dashboard as well as its dramatic speedo that is going to be the target of speedo boys who are busy doing speedo boy stuff while driving at the Wangan expressway. Of course, like the previous model, it's got two rear seats which are deemed to be difficult to squeeze into, and some room in the back for some grocery trips to resupply your man cave. Either way, the new interior is one of the many reasons you can't get enough with the new BRZ.

2022 Subaru BRZ

A new generation calls for a new engine and for the second-generation BRZ, the size of its BOXER D-4S engine has been increased from 2.0L to 2.4L. As a result, the power output is now bumped at a dramatic 235PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It has a WLTC-calculated fuel economy of 12km/L for the 6-speed manual variant and 11.8km/L for the 6-speed AT variant.

Apart from the added power from its new FA24 engine, the new BRZ features an upgraded version of its signature platform which makes it more huggable on the road and more rigid compared to the previous model. They have improved the suspension and chassis to make it more fun to drive than the previous model and it's got better traction as well.

The automatic variants of the second-generation BRZ feature Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which consists of pre-collision safety tech, emergency rescue support, and secondary collision avoidance support. Manual variants don't get one but who cares?

The second-generation Subaru BRZ is ready to pick up where the previous BRZ left off and thanks to its improved dynamics, new styling, new interior, and the FA24 engine, this is going to be the BRZ speedo boys will never forget and with the imminent doom to the internal combustion engine, the BRZ of the Reiwa era is one on the bucket list and speedo boys are ready to spend their hard-earned cash buying this one.

Available colors: Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Magnetite Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Ignition Red, Sapphire Blue Pearl, and WR Blue Pearl.
