BMW M2 G87

The BMW M2 is regarded as one of the best M cars ever made thanks to its back-to-basics approach and its all about bringing driving back to the drivers. With the all-new G87 model, does the all-new M2 retain the mantra from its predecessor even with its questionable looks?

With prices starting at 72,800 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new BMW M2 G87 promises to retain the magic of its well-loved predecessor but despite its promise, the questionable looks will make speedo boys think twice before laying their finger on it.

While this is based on the G42 2-Series Coupe, the all-new M2 swapped the normal 2-Series Coupe's front design for a butchered one judging by its new headlamps and a rather un-BMW-ish frameless kidney grille design, among the other aerodynamic upgrades implemented to it. Inside, it works just like the normal 2-Series Coupe but the all-new M2 is packed with a choice of either M sports seats or M Carbon bucket seats with the latter weighing 10.8kg less than the former. Easier said than done, they said but whatever.

Under the hood, the all-new M2 is armed with the same S58 3.0L turbo six-cylinder engine as its hideous big brother, the M4, but it's been detuned to produce 460PS of power and 550Nm of torque. That's more than what you get from the old M2. As expected, it can be mated to either a 6-speed MT or an 8-speed M Steptronic AT with Drivelogic which makes it capable of hitting a 0-100kph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed limited to 250kph. 285kph if you opt-in for an optional M Driver's Package. That's 5kph more than the old M2.

Because the all-new M2 is rear-wheel-drive only, you'll fall in love driving with it more than the previous one, and because of its Active M Differential at the rear axle, Dynamic Stability Control, M Drive Professional with M Traction Control System, Adaptive M suspension, and other dynamic knowhow involved, you'll find various ways to get addicted to it either on the streets of Berlin or at a track day in the Nurburgring, not necessarily in that order.

Despite its controversial looks, the added performance and dynamics made the all-new M2 the one to have at this moment in time. Love it or hate it, this baby M Coupe is ready to show its magic to those behind the wheel, and between you and me, we're getting anxious and jealous to drive one someday. Bring it on, BMW!

Lexus RZ 450e

The first-ever Lexus RZ has arrived, signaling the start of Lexus's journey to electrification in the midst of the new normal. So, what's it all about Lexus's first original electric crossover that shook the world since its world premiere?

Priced at an ultra-expensive 8.8 million Japanese Yen plus additional costs, the first-ever Lexus RZ electric crossover is an all-original electric crossover built from the ground up and ready to take on the new normal like bread and butter. The razor-sharp looks, luxurious interior, cutting-edge technology, and modest performance made the RZ a worthy contender to the likes of Mercedes's EQC and Audi's Q8 e-Tron.

Beginning with the design, the RZ draws inspiration from the LF-Z Electrified Concept, the one that spearheaded Lexus's new design direction that was started with the second-generation NX. Forged by the brand's new design direction, the RZ, as the name implies, is razor sharp and knife edge in every direction, and if looks could kill, the RZ is the last thing you'll ever see on the road. It takes a stealthy approach as an electric crossover until it delivers its second strike.

Razor sharp the exterior design is, the RZ features a fully functional interior that combines minimalism, a user-friendly approach, and comforts like a true luxury car should. At the driver's side, the RZ features a conventional steering wheel at launch, a rotary shift selector, a new and compact air conditioning unit, an available digital rear-view mirror, a 14-inch touchscreen with a rather annoying voice activation feature, USB-C connectivity, and more.

On the comfort side, the RZ can accommodate up to five people, and although too expensive to be used as a people carrier or for TNVS purposes, its purpose is to escort VIPs to their desired situation like a boss. As for boot space, the RZ can accommodate 522 liters of luggage with the rear seats present, and when folded down, it can fit up to 1451 liters. Coupled with useful features such as the hands-free power back door, a tonneau cover, and a hidden deck board underneath, there are many ways to make use of the RZ's boot space for keeps.

Running on the e-TNGA platform used by the rental-only Toyota bZ4X, the RZ features eAxle, DIRECT4 AWD system, and the most sophisticated chassis and suspension setup curated to deliver a signature Lexus driving feel no matter where you're going. With its posture, traction, and power distribution, the RZ's dynamics are nearly great to live with and it takes guts to fully understand how it behaves on the open road.

Asked about the steering, the RZ features a conventional rack-assisted electric power steering system that feels above average for an electric crossover like this. However, to bring the most out of the RZ, Lexus is working on a new One Motion Grip steer-by-wire system coming to this mid-decade as a new option. The One Motion Grip system involves the use of an F1-style steering wheel, otherwise known as the yoke, which delivers less stress and more engagement for the drivers. Although controversial, the special steering wheel is worth checking out if Lexus is done experimenting with it and ready for market introduction.

Because of its eAxle, DIRECT4, and its 71.40kWh lithium battery pack, the RZ's electric propulsion system produces a total power output of 313PS and 432Nm of torque output. It has a 0-100kph time of less than five and a half seconds and a top speed of 160kph. The driving range is good for 494km based on WLTC Mode standards.

As an electric crossover built for the new normal, the Lexus RZ features a wide array of advanced safety features such as a Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert and Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Change Assist, Driver Monitor, Proactive Driving Assist, and more. Such features are worth surprising for the drivers behind the wheel, although some would not be happy about these features.

The first-ever Lexus RZ truly is the start of a new era for Lexus at the age of electrification. Although above average to drive until the yoke is loose, the razor-sharp styling, interior, and tech made the RZ fit for the new normal. This is something to watch out for; stealthy recasting and a second strike.

Lotus Eletre

Lotus is known for its iconic sports cars such as the Elise, the Exige, and the Evora, and in the age of the new normal, the all-electric Evija hypercar and the ultimate ICE-powered Lotus sports car, the Emira. Sadly, Lotus' near-seven-and-a-half decade tradition has been broken thanks to the arrival of the first SUV, the Eletre.

Starting at 89,500 British Pounds plus additional costs, the first-ever Lotus Eletre truly is a treason to the Lotus heritage because why build a bulky SUV and call it a Lotus? Don't ask them, ask the Chinese overlords who controlled them like puppets on a string.

Geely, the Chinese company that controls not just Lotus but Volvo as well, is the main reason why the Lotus Eletre was spawned because this is the new normal, and SUVs are treated like superhero movies. Anyway, while getting bothered about Lotus's first SUV, what to expect from this "made in China" curiosity?

Beginning with the styling, the Eletre is downright futuristic for an electric crossover of this size, making the Tesla Model X look like a dozen of balut on a fruit basket. You gotta admit that such futuristic styling is the first impression the Eletre delivers even while cruising on the open road. What's also cool is the rear lights that glow green while charging, indicating battery levels, as well as the pop-up gadgetry lurking through its skin. This is what the future feels like.

The same story goes for the interior because the Eletre is like a supercomputer on wheels. On the driver's side, you can expect AR HUD, a 15.1-inch HD OLED touchscreen, ambient lighting, and jewel-grade switches on the AC and gear change. Looks like fancy living for the driver but on the passenger side, the Eletre is offered with a choice of a four or five-seater and they can be folded down for up to 1532 liters of boot space, making it more than enough to carry even the most sensitive stuff while on the go.

Although having rear seats in a Lotus is also treason for purists, you gonna love the four-seater version because of the center console gadgetry that will keep VIPs busy while driving to their destination. Although too expensive to be used as a family vehicle, the Eletre works like a luxury car while going on a trip to the world's most extravagant destinations.

Thanks to the dual motors that power it and the Geely-derived platform underneath, the Eletre is the first Lotus to have a four-wheel-drive system, another treason to the Lotus heritage. Although it doesn't behave like a Lotus, it delivers a throat-chopping experience when you put your foot down and looks like someone's driven to tears, wishing they want to experience this electric crossover someday.

The Eletre features three different configurations with the base variant producing 612PS of power and 373 miles of driving range to the ultra-powerful Eletre R with a monstrous 918PS of power output, capable of going from 0-60mph in less than three seconds and has a top speed of 165mph. As for the range, the Eletre R is good for 304 miles on one full charge.

Although speedo boys are not going to like it, the Eletre features the most sophisticated ADAS offered such as the LIDAR system, ultra-HD cameras, and millimeter-wave radar, making it equipped for fully autonomous driving. Shocker.

The Lotus Eletre is treason to the Norfolk-based sports car company's heritage but with all that power packed, this is the crossover you are itching to drive someday. Like it or not, the Eletre is Lotus' jack of all trades or should I say tirades if you prefer and it's ready to boldly go where no Lotus has gone before. Be ready when you see one.

The previous 7-Series started BMW's big grille mess that has plagued every single lineup, causing speedo boys to doublethink about their affinity toward it. With the all-new G70 model, BMW's oras de peligro continues with its massive new grille that shows the new normal of BMW this is the alpha of the group.

Starting at 116,000 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new BMW 7-Series G70 continues BMW's worst nightmare for speedo boys because of its controversial styling that is worth the talk of the town.

Yes, the styling is definitely every speedo boy's worst nightmare because of the extra-large kidney grilles and the quad headlights plastered to it. When you see this one coming from your rear-view mirror, be ready because this nightmarish front face is about as scary as...the scary video you show to your kids.

Weaving from the nightmarish exterior design, the new 7-Series' interior is an elitist's delight. On the driver's side, you'll be greeted by the curved widescreen display panel that runs on BMW Operating System 8. With one side taking care of its instrumental cluster and the other side that controls the entire car from airconditioning, entertainment, and navigation, not to mention the artificial engine sounds programmed to it, it's all business behind the wheel. As for the passenger side, you can expect an "out on a limo" feeling when it comes with the Executive Lounge option, a 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen with Amazon Fire TV, and a nifty touchscreen on the passenger door handles, making it a true business class at the business end. If you were a billionaire or a right-wing politician, this is the one for you.

In a move to upset speedo boys, all variants of the BMW 7-Series G70 come with xDrive permanent all-wheel-drive system, meaning this new model is bulkier to drive than the previous G11 model so don't expect much smoke and mirrors from below, but because this model is made to satisfy high rollers and right-wing politicians from the passenger seat, the all-wheel-drive system and the most sophisticated suspension and chassis setup allows the G70 7-Series to drive smoothly like the butter song if you catch my drift.

Because of the CLAR platform it runs underneath, the engine lineup has been electrified to comply with the new normal. The 750e PHEV runs on a 3.0L 6-cylinder turbocharged engine with an electric motor, producing 490PS of power and 1.0 l/100 km of fuel economy. The 740d, meanwhile, runs on a 3.0L 6-cylinder CRDi diesel engine with mild hybrid technology, producing 286PS of power and 6.1 l/100 km of fuel economy. And for the ultimate experience, there's the range-topping M760e powered by the same setup as the 750e but it's been boosted to produce 571PS of power and 800Nm of torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic, it's capable of a 0-100kph time of 4.3 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 250kph. The fuel economy is around 1.0 l/100 km.

For safety, the 7-Series G70 is packed with advanced driver-assist systems, including the ones from the Driving Assistant package, the Driving Assistant Plus, and the Parking Assistant Professional. Although it is capable of Level 2 autonomy, there will be new features that will make it Level 3 autonomy coming soon.

The BMW 7-Series G70, along with its electric i7, is a sign of things to come because you can expect nightmarish-looking larger grilles like this in the future. Despite its terrifying front grille that draws flak from speedo boys, its business-class comfort, electric drivetrain, and surprising tech are proof that the future's becoming real. When you see one in action, better get your word on it.

Audi Q8 e-tron

Back in 2019, the first-ever Audi e-tron crossover signaled a new start for Audi's electrification mission and it sets the template for Audi's electrified models. Despite its success, the e-tron didn't survive long enough and it was therefore removed from the lineup. Thankfully, it was reborn with a new name, which sounds confusing to some.

Welcome to the Audi Q8 e-tron and no, this new model has nothing in common with the ICE-powered Audi Q8 coupe utility vehicle because, despite the naming, it's basically a minor change version of the used-to-be-called Audi e-tron electric crossover.

Prices start at 74,400 Euros plus additional costs, a drastic price bump compared to the old e-tron crossover, so with the price hike, what do you get from this so-called improved version of the e-tron crossover, which is available in normal and Sportback models?

Beginning with the styling, the Q8 e-tron looks similar to the old e-tron crossover but with refreshed looks and aerodynamics to make a statement. It's the same goes for the sporty SQ8 e-tron variants.

The interior feels pretty much the same as the old model but there are signs of added use of recycled materials involved in the making. On the driver's side, you still have familiar features such as the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, a 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen with smartphone connectivity and noticeable apps such as Apple Music and (oh no) Amazon Alexa, and an 8.6-inch secondary touchscreen that takes charge of the climate control features. 

Of course, the spacing is just like the old e-tron. It fits up to five people and it's got more room than its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz EQC, and for added fun, Audi teams up with holoride to deliver VR excitement inside. Sit in the back, put on your VR glasses, and enjoy the ride. This is a gimmick even kids might enjoy.

Checking out the electric propulsion system, the Q8 e-tron features a choice of either a 95kWh or a 114kWh battery pack with the latter producing 408PS of power, 664Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 5.6 seconds, 200kph of top speed, and 582km of driving range.

The SQ8 e-tron uses the same 114kWh battery pack as the normal one but it has improved performance, delivering 503PS of power, 973Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 4.5 seconds, 210kph of top speed, and up to 494km of driving range.

The dynamics were slightly revised compared to the old e-tron courtesy of its improved performance, air suspension, revised air springs, and updated steering ratio. Still, it possesses a mild driving feel but it feels a bit okay to get going from the beginning to the end of the day.

The SQ8 e-tron comes with an electric torque vectoring system that allows drivers to fully enjoy these crossovers to their fullest extent. Easier said than done.

The Q8 e-tron may be more of a facelifted e-tron crossover but it continues the electric crossover's success story even in this unstable world we live in. 

Why call it the Q8 e-tron even though it has nothing in common with the normal Q8 coupe crossover? It's complicated.

Alfa Romeo Tonale

A concept turned reality, the first-ever Alfa Romeo Tonale is the Italian carmaker's first compact crossover that slots below the Stelvio. Serving as the indirect replacement for the Giulietta is no easy task because being a crossover, the Tonale could become the prime target for bashers and purists alike. The question is, should you want to drive one?

Priced at 36,000 Euros plus additional costs, the first-ever Alfa Romeo Tonale is another concept car turned reality, which is rather a pleasing move done by Alfa Romeo, but for some, it's another ad nauseam to add salt to their wounds because...why would Alfa Romeo need another crossover?

Beginning with the exterior, the Tonale stays faithful to the concept car but with a minor alternation involved before heading to the production block such as the doors. The concept car featured secret rear doors reminiscent of past Alfas. The production version, meanwhile, features normal rear doors to avoid people from door-related confusion. Although controversial, it's still enough to match the Tonale's concept.

The interior is modern Alfa Romeo stuff as expected, meaning this compact crossover is driver-focused. On the driver's view, you are greeted with key features such as the 12.3-inch instrumental cluster, 10.25-inch touch screen with smartphone connectivity and Amazon Alexa as well as OTA updates, and the Harman Kardon 14-speaker sound system. In terms of space, the Tonale is surprisingly more spacious than the Giulietta it replaces. What a twist.

Under the hood, the Tonale offers a choice of two petrol engines and a rather controversial 1.6 VGT-D diesel engine at launch with the first-ever PHEV variant arriving in the summer of 2023. The petrol variants come with 48V mild hybrid tech for the sake of electrification. The one with the 1.5 VGT 48V-Hybrid powertrain mated to a 7-speed TCT produces 160PS of power, 240Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 8.8 seconds, and a top speed of 212kph. The one with the 1.6 VGT-D engine has a combined fuel economy of 5.3L/100km, which sounds great but sadly, this is the new normal, and types of diesel are criminalized.

What about dynamics, while being offered only as a front-wheel-drive vehicle at launch with the PHEV later on with its Q4 four-wheel-drive system included, the Tonale feels somewhat easy to drive despite being a crossover SUV. With the most direct steering ratio in the segment, perfect weight balance, brake-by-wire braking, Brembo brake calipers, Alfa DNA, and e-LSD, the Tonale behaves like a hot hatch, which is surprisingly unorthodox in a car like this. Again, what a twist.

In terms of safety, the Tonale is classified as Level 2 autonomy thanks to its front camera, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering, and Traffic Jam Assist systems. Combined with Blind Spot Detection, Emergency Braking, Attention Assist, and a 360-degree view monitor, among many others, the Tonale is all about getting concerned on the road, although speedo boys may end up running scared when autonomy kicks in.

Why would Alfa Romeo need another crossover? Truth be told, it's all about profits and the arrival of the first-ever Tonale made a clear statement that with its shock demand, it's becoming the Alfa for the masses due to its reasonable starting price. Whichever path it chooses, the Tonale is all about taking things seriously like every crossover should. Although not a decent alternative for the defunct Giulietta, it's still worth driving it on a daily basis.

Cadillac Escalade-V

Speedo boys have been dreaming of a V version of the Cadillac Escalade SUV and while the idea of the Escalade-V is nothing but a far-fetched dream, looks like the time's come because the dream of an Escalade-V has finally come true. The most powerful Escalade has finally awakened.

With prices starting at an ultra-expensive $149,695 plus additional costs, the first-ever Cadillac Escalade-V deserves no words because this is the most powerful full-size SUV in the world. 

The heavyweight champion for hustlers and celebrities has been given lots of swagger by Cadillac and that swagger gave the Escalade-V some specially-made fascias with dark quad exhausts and V-Series badging to show the world who's the big boss. Behind the swagger-laden looks, the Escalade-V works just like a normal Escalade, inside and out.

Under the hood, the Escalade-V is powered by a monstrous 6.2L supercharged V8 engine that produces 682HP of power and 653lb-ft of torque, which is shockingly weak against the king of high-performance SUVs, the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. Mated to a 10-speed AT, it's capable of going from 0-60mph in four and a half seconds. 

That sounds quick but apart from the monstrous V8 engine that powers this swaggered Escalade, there's lots of action involved underneath the Escalade-V because it's been kitted with e-LSD, Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes, and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Although it feels heavy to handle as expected, the Escalade-V behaves like it's on a rampage spree and looks like it's going to be one heck of a rollercoaster thriller from start to finish. What awaits in the end? A real knockout blow.

With the first-ever Escalade-V, this monstrous swagger should not be snubbed because this is the ultimate version of the current-generation Escalade and if anybody snubs at it should have a lot of explanations. I'm talking about you, Forza producers.

With the monstrous V8 engine, track-honed dynamics, and the same Escalade swagger as expected, the Escalade-V is no doubt the heavyweight champion in the lineup, and with its knockout blows delivered at every corner, hustlers beware when this behemoth rolls through the streets like a boss. Any takers?

Maserati MC20 Cielo

The MC20 marked the new beginning for Maserati and as the world is struggling with the new normal, where crossovers are superheroes, this is the antithesis every car enthusiast needs. With its strikingly great styling, driver-focused interior, and performance that is quintessentially Italian, the MC20 became every speedo boy's newest favorite Italian supercar for the time being.

Those who want an open-top version should consider the MC20 Cielo, the roadster version that offers the same thrills as its hardtop equivalent but with a foldable glass roof at the top. Yours for less than 220K Euros.

Unlike most drop-tops, the MC20 Cielo features a two-piece folding glass roof that takes 12 seconds to open or close and it can turn opaque at the touch of a button. Sounds like a party piece but the roof-folding mechanism adds 65kg of weight.

Despite the added weight, the Cielo behaves just like its hardtop equivalent as expected. Armed with the 630PS 3.0L 6-cylinder twin-turbo Nettuno engine mated to an 8-speed DCT, the MC20 Cielo can sprint from 0-100kph in 2.9 seconds and can go all the way to 325kph. It's still great to drive even with the roof down and because it features a double-wishbone suspension system with active shock absorbers as well as the composite material monocoque soaked in carbon fiber, the Cielo behaves like a racecar on the track, just like what the hardtop equivalent should.

Glass roof or not, the MC20 Cielo is all about taking leaps and bounds from its hardtop equivalent despite the added weight penalty. Like the hardtop equivalent, the MC20 Cielo is quintessentially Italian and it too will become every speedo boy's newest favorite Italian supercar for the time being.

Mercrdes-Benz GLC (X254)

Once the Mercedes SUV that your auntie drove, the Mercedes-Benz GLC has evolved to the latest generation and it's now basically the crossover equivalent of today's C-Class. Similarities aside, this is no longer your auntie's Mercedes SUV because this one has turned.

Priced at 57,632 Euros plus additional costs, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC is the second outing of the C-Class-based crossover that is all about getting ready for what lies ahead.

Beginning with the exterior, the new design feels more of a mashup between today's Mercedes C-Class and the defunct Nissan Skyline Crossover. Either way, it looks mature compared to the previous model, and every which way it goes, it feels like it's another day for the all-new GLC.

Like most newer Mercedes models, the new interior is fitted with a large touch screen that is loaded with the MBUX user interface that includes the Alexa-ish "Hey Mercedes" voice function that allows almost anyone to speak with this car much to the annoyance of anyone in the sweet spot. Apart from that, you can use the touchscreen to change the color of the lighting as well as take advantage of the optional ENERGIZING Pack Plus for your comfortable driving pleasure, and make use of the available MBUX Augmented Reality for easier navigation purposes. In terms of passenger space, it's slightly roomier at the back and has up to 1680 liters of boot space with the rear seats folded down, fit for various situations like camping or deliveries.

Running on the same underpinnings as the W206 C-Class, the new GLC feels as balanced as the C-Class it was based on. Priced at 110,658 Euros plus additional costs, the first-ever EQS SUV is the latest member of the Mercedes-EQ range of electric vehicles, which was spearheaded by its sedan equivalent. Like its sedan equivalent and the EQE, the EQS SUV is an all-original electric crossover that runs on the EVA platform, and judging by its size, it's smaller than the GLS despite being positioned as the top dog.

Beginning with the design, the EQS SUV borrows the same styling as the sedan equivalent while adopting the crossover look to deliver its so-called commanding presence. Despite borrowing its looks from the sedan, it looks shorter but wider and taller while sharing the same wheelbase, which is surprisingly longer than the GLS.

Just like the sedan equivalent, the EQS SUV features the MBUX Hyperscreen, a gargantuan touchscreen that occupies almost the entire dashboard, not to mention the added gadgetry involved. On the passenger side, however, it has room for seven people, meaning it's capable of being a family car, although the ultra-expensive pricetag throws the "family car" tagline out of context. Perhaps it should fit well as an escort for the world's eco-conscious elites and with the added MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment Plus package, the EQS SUV delivers the "out on a limo" feel for elitists at the back.

Asking about boot space, it's 645 liters with the rear seats present and up to 2100 liters of boot space with the seats folded down.

Like the sedan equivalent, the EQS SUV is rear-wheel-drive by default but those who want to get the most out of the EQS can opt-in for the 4MATIC variant as well as the rather expensive subscription services offered on this car, especially the special rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to ten degrees. Costly but in terms of driving feel, it's money well spent to give the zealots what they really deserve and it's something to inspire.

Because the M3 Competition Touring is basically a G21 3-Series Touring with the face of the G80 M3, you can expect lots of complaints from the design department because of the controversial kidney grilles that became the new normal for BMW but because this is the M3 Touring, they'll let it slide for now.

On the interior, it still operates and feels just like their normal equivalents, apart from the annoying but clever BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that works like your Amazon Alexa device as well as the M-specific treatments that differentiate them such as its sports seats, buttons, and some extras. Because this is the Touring variant, you can expect 500 liters of boot space with the rear seats present and up to 1510 liters of boot space with the rear seats folded down, meaning this M3 is ready for everything.

Under the hood, the M3 Competition Touring is powered by the same 3.0L twin-turbo six-cylinder engine as its siblings, and because this is set in Competition spec with xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the only gearbox you'll get is an 8-speed automatic. It produces 510PS of power, 650Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 3.6 seconds, and an electronically-limited top speed of 250kph. 280kph with the optional extra on, which is 10kph less than its sedan equivalent.

Despite being heavier than the sedan version, the M3 Competition Touring still packs a punch with its M-tuned dynamics, adaptive dampers, variable-ratio steering, and others. With such track-tuned dynamics, it's no wonder it became the fastest wagon to lap the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 35.06 seconds.

The first-ever BMW i7 is the flagship electric saloon made by BMW and it served as the frontrunner for the next-generation BMW 7-Series. Better be prepared when you see one because this would be the most controversial BMW ever made when it touches down the road to make a scene.

Priced at 135,900 Euros plus additional costs, the first-ever BMW i7 is going to be every Bimmer's worst nightmare because of its controversial styling that is worth debating, especially when they try to compare it to its main rival, the Mercedes EQS.

The styling is definitely every speedo boy's worst nightmare because of the extra-large kidney grilles and the quad headlights plastered to it. When you see this one coming from your rear-view mirror, be ready because this nightmarish front face is about as scary as...the scary video you show to your kids. It doesn't really bark but it really bites you hard like a shadow sneak attack. Looking away from its front face, the side, and rear view are rather dramatic indeed so there's something emotional about the i7.

Swerving from its nightmarish front face, the i7's interior is business class for the elitists. On the driver's side, you'll be greeted by the curved widescreen display panel that runs on BMW Operating System 8. With one side taking care of its instrumental cluster and the other side that controls the entire car from airconditioning, entertainment, and navigation, not to mention the artificial engine sounds programmed to it, it's all business behind the wheel. 

As for the passenger side, you can expect an "out on a limo" feeling when the i7 comes with the Executive Lounge option, a 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen with Amazon Fire TV, and a nifty touchscreen on the passenger door handles, making it a true business class at the business end. If you were a billionaire or a right-wing politician, this is the one for you.

Running on the new CLAR platform and xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the i7 feels as bulky as the Mercedes EQS due to its electric powertrain that adds burden to its dynamics, making it a mild and menacing experience when you take it through the bends with the Sport Mode on. In terms of comfort, thanks to its electric drivetrain, it feels rather sociable and smooth like Queensland butter. The grandeur that is.

The only electric powertrain available at launch is the xDrive60 which comes with a 102kWh battery pack and two electric motors powering both wheels, generating a total of 544PS of power, 745Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 4.7 seconds, a top speed of 240kph, and up to 625km of driving range in one full charge. This is just the beginning because there will be more variants coming soon, including the M70 xDrive in the works.

For safety, the i7 is packed with advanced driver-assist systems, including the ones from the Driving Assistant package, the Driving Assistant Plus, and the Parking Assistant Professional. Although it is capable of Level 2 autonomy, there will be new features that will make it Level 3 autonomy coming soon.

The BMW i7 is a sign of things to come because you can expect nightmarish-looking larger grilles like this in the future. Despite its terrifying front grille that draws flak from speedo boys, its business-class comfort, electric drivetrain, and surprising tech are proof that the future's becoming real. Like it or not, it's out there.

BMW X1 (U11) and iX1

The baby BMW crossover, the X1, is now on its third generation and it also spawned its all-electric equivalent, the iX1. So, what's it all about the all-new X1? Let's have a quick dive into this new model.

The third-generation X1 (priced at 41,400 Euros plus additional costs) and the first-ever iX1 (priced at 55,000 Euros plus additional costs) are signs of the times because as crossovers are heavily treated like Hollywood superhero flicks, it looks like there will be a pileup of potential customers who would like to have their hands on this newest version, like it or not.

Beginning with the design, the X1 is nothing more of a crossover equivalent of today's 2-Series Active Tourer because when you take a gander at both of these machines, it's fairly obvious that they both share the same large grilles, which became the new normal for BMW amid the bashing from purists starting to turn away from the brand in favor of Mercedes or Audi. Although the large grille is a classic BMW dirty tactic, the all-new X1 sure loves to play dirty but more with that later on because it's time to observe the interior.

The interior is broadly similar to the one found on the latest 2-Series Active Tourer as well, meaning you are greeted with the new BMW Curved Display that takes centerstage on the driver's side and because it runs on the latest BMW Operating System 8, it has tons of noticeable features, including the rather annoying voice control which works like Alexa. Since the new model removed the storage space beneath the armrest in favor of a floating center console, it's going to be challenging to store your bare necessities. In terms of spacing, it's not half bad compared to the previous model.

Because it now runs on the new FF platform derived from the latest 1-Series, the third-generation X1 feels more of an improvement compared to the previous X1 but not as cool as what a BMW should because with this, the 2-Series Active Tourer, the 2-Series Gran Coupe, and today's 1-Series, they've been treated like outcasts because of their front-wheel-drive layout that is proven to be treason to the BMW heritage. Even slapping it with the optional xDrive system couldn't help but is still worth being an all-rounder.

In the normal X1, it's offered with a choice of petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains for the first time in an X1. The X1 xDrive30e variant saw its 1.5L turbocharged engine bolted to a 130kW electric motor, generating a total power output of 326PS, and 477Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed Steptronic, it does 0-100kph in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 205kph.

The iX1's electric powertrain, meanwhile, features two electric motors and a 68kW Li-ion battery pack, making it capable of producing a total power output of 313PS, 494Nm of torque, a 0-100kph time of 5.6 seconds, and a Japan-ish 180kph top speed. As for the range, it's good for 437km on one full charge and it takes less than an hour to reach 80% battery capacity while charging at a 130kW outlet.

Both the new X1 and the iX1 are armed with the most advanced safety features offered including the Driving Assistant package with AEB, passive cruise control, Parking Assistant, and others.

Although it's slightly an improvement compared to the previous X1, the new model sure knows how to make a statement regarding its controversially-large grille shared from today's 2-Series Active Tourer, but whatever the verdict may be, both the new X1 and the first-ever iX1 are in for a good time for a long time.

While the ultra-expensive Range Rover is built to cater to elitists with grace and power, the Range Rover Sport is built to deliver the most dramatic performance everywhere.

Starting with the design, the all-new Range Rover Sport looks like an Evoque on steroids but thankfully, it's not as odd-looking as its superior because it's all in the name of subtlety with a chance of obviousness...until you opt-in for the Dynamic variant which features Satin Burnished Copper details, Matte Graphite lettering, and specially-made bumpers, making it half-subtle, half-obvious.

The new interior is broadly similar to the normal Range Rover, except for the specially-made steering wheel to differentiate it. As expected, the minimalist interior can spell bad news for speedo boys behind the wheel because of the touch screens some might find it challenging to poke the screen just like what they do with their smartphones. There's also a Cabin Air Purification Pro which keeps the interior away from mold and viruses alike, including the you-know-what, and the Pivi Pro with smartphone connectivity and Amazon Alexa. In terms of space, it's roomier than the previous Range Rover Sport despite the fact that it's offered as a five-seater as standard. Fair enough.

Just like its upscale brother, the new Range Rover Sport is surprisingly livelier to drive and more comfortable than before, thanks to its MLA architecture, and it features the most sophisticated air suspension ever made. Called Dynamic Response Pro, it takes advantage of its sat-nav to read the road ahead and optimize it for better response. It even comes with All Wheel Steering and Terrain Response 2, which features a series of configurable programs suitable for almost every road condition.

Under the bonnet, the all-new Range Rover Sport features a powerhouse of six and eight-cylinder engines, both petrol, diesel, and PHEV for the first time. The most powerful of the range, the P530, features a BMW-sourced 4.4L V8 Twin Turbo engine that produces 530HP of power, 750Nm of torque, a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds, and an electronically-limited top speed of 150mph. There will be a fully electric variant coming soon.

As expected, the new Range Rover Sport possesses the most advanced driving aids offered in this luxury SUV such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist, Power Assisted Doors, Clearisght Interior Rear View Mirror, 3D Surround Camera, and many others.

From the Arabian sands to the streets of London, it looks like the all-new Range Rover Sport showcased its true potential as one of the most dramatic luxury SUVs to drive. Despite its cheaper price tag, it managed to make its brother proud in every way, and looks like we are getting anxious to have one someday.

Beginning with the design, the new RX carries the new-generation Lexus design DNA inherited from the current NX, so you can think of it as its big brother. While the controversial front face is the signature Lexus moment, the rear view can be easily mistaken for the defunct Infiniti QX70 while the rear view can be vaguely mistaken for an Opel Adam. Despite its debatable design, it's still the best of both worlds and the same goes for the sporty F SPORT variant with sporty aesthetics slapped all over.

The new interior adopts the Tazuna Concept approach to make it minimal and driver-focused. The Remote Touch from the previous model's gone because it now features a touchscreen on the dashboard with a set of dials on it for volume control and others as well as USB-C outlets, ambient lighting system, available Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound system, available Qi wireless charging port, and others. Some would find it rocket science but it's worth fun toying with its features, given that you don't want to spend too much time on the voice control a la Alexa.

On the passenger side, this five-seater is more spacious in boot space and legroom terms than the previous model thanks to its bigger dimensions. This should be more than enough to escort VIPS while carrying sensitive cargo like a classified courier on a mission.

Running on the improved TNGA platform, the all-new RX behaves better than the previous model it replaces, and no matter which driving mode you're on, be it in its most comfortable setting or in the sportiest setting (if you're in the F SPORT variant), it always leaves a lasting impression everywhere.
