Suzuki Solio Bandit (MA15S)

This is the gauntlet thrower in question, this is the Suzuki Solio Bandit, and think of it as the evil twin of the Suzuki Solio, a car that has been popularized due to KAT-TUN's endorsement. Thanks to that, the Solio is targeted only to KAT-TUN fans and pretty soon if some girl has a lot of KAT-TUN posters in her bedroom, the Suzuki Solio will become her bedroom wall poster, you know what I'm saying? With this version, we believe that KAT-TUN is going to endorse an upcoming ad featuring the new Suzuki Solio Bandit.

2013 Suzuki Solio Bandit

2013 Suzuki Solio Bandit

Bandit, hmmmm? That Bandit name kinda sounds like the Suzuki Bandit bike range but wait, we're not talking because, in this blog, we don't involve bikes. Jeremy Clarkson hates bikes and so do I. We don't like bikes and if you're a bike lover who read my blog, you're pathetic, you're in the wrong blog. Anyway, it still looks like the Solio to me but on the front, it's a bit more...Indian. Imagine if Maruti Suzuki going to make one of these, it could be that car but wait, if you're an Indian who read this post, you're pathetic because Maruti Suzuki will never, and never will, sell the Solio to the Indian drivers until further notice. We're doing this for you because we did this research.

Back to the exterior well from the looks of it, the Bandit has a front mask that looks different from the standard Solio, Piano Black-painted LED headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, and a new front bumper that looks like a big guppy mouth that's going to swallow the whole birthday cake. Imagine if your son saw your Bandit in the middle of bedtime, your son might say...um...the Japanese of "Daddy! Daddy! There's a monster outside!!!" and you might say to your son...the Japanese of "No, that is my new Suzuki Solio Bandit, now go to bed". What do you think of that? A 5-seater minivan that will terrify your little kids? Oh yes, and some...

2013 Suzuki Solio Bandit interior

2013 Suzuki Solio Bandit interior

Inside the Solio Bandit comes with a dedicated seat upholstery stripe pattern, black door trim, anti-glare rear view mirror, and rear seats that can slide forward, backward, or recline. In Solio fashion, it can accommodate up to five people. Yep, KAT-TUN can be accommodated on the Solio Bandit's interior for sure. Speaking of which, various seating arrangements can be accommodated through various situations such as cargo space or a place to rest.

The Suzuki Solio Bandit comes with the K12 B (1.2-litre) DOHC 16-valve VVT engine with the power output of a frugal 91PS and the torque of 12.0kg・m. Thanks to the improved CVT, it can go up to 20.6km/L on the JC08 Mode scale but if you go for the new IDLING STOP feature, you now have 21.8km/L of fuel economy on the JC08 Mode scale. It qualifies for Japan's ECO CAR GENZEI system.

Suzuki's Solio Bandit is available in seven colors; Pearl White (Z7T), Bluish Black Pearl (ZJ3), Silky Silver Metallic (Z2S), Classy Red Pearl (ZJR), Mysterious Violet Pearl (ZED), Pearl Metallic Cashmere Blue (ZCW), and Luna Gray Pearl Metallic (ZLY).

My comment:

The Suzuki Solio Bandit may have a name derived from a bike but with a look that is a bit more Indian with a scary-looking front bumper that feels like it's going to eat a 5-year-old boy. Again, if you're an Indian who read this post, you're pathetic because Maruti Suzuki will never, and never will, sell the Solio to Indian drivers until further notice. Understood? If you have complaints, post your comments below and we'll talk. Anyway, the Suzuki Solio Bandit starts at 1,683,150 Japanese Yen so it should be a bit more expensive than the standard Solio but still, it will only attract KAT-TUN fans everywhere because KAT-TUN's going to endorse it. CHECK THE SOLIO!

Three generations of the RX-7! (and a Spirit R for an extra)

Yes, with the very first generation of the Mazda RX-7 (designated as SA22C) arrived on Forza Motorsport 4 via the April Alpinestars Pack, all three generations of the Mazda RX-7, from SA22C to FD3S, are now complete. Those JDM fanatics in Forza 4 are pleased to getting to know more about three different generations of the Mazda RX-7, from Savanna to Efini, all the way to the final Spirit R model that commemorates the end of the RX-7 since summer 2002. We still kinda prefer this more than the least successful RX-8, which was scheduled to end in the summer of this year.

SA22C at the Top Gear Test Track

Now, if you were a Filipino who remembered some classic Japanese super sentai when you were a kid, you would remember that this car was featured on a very classic Japanese super sentai titled SHAIDER. It was driven by Annie, Alexis' companion. Alexis, who was Shaider, drove a Suzuki Jimny/Samurai by the way while patrolling around Japan against incoming alien invaders. This car made me feel like I went for some "TIME SPACE WARP" but no. We're not talking about Shaider, I went DOCTOR WHO-ing with the TARDIS back to the Shaider years. He he he... TARDIS...He he he...Back on the SA22C. When I drive this first generation RX-7, it feels like I'm Annie but no, I'm not playing as Shaider's trusty companion. This car is all about the finesse and an average driver's childhood memories won't be the same.

SA22C at the Top Gear Test Track

About the SA22C, this was launched in Japan since March 1978 under the name "SAVANNA RX-7". It was made using Mazda's SA Platform and it was powered by a 12A 2-rotor engine. During the oil crisis in the 1970's, Mazda developed a combustion exhaust gas thermal reactor system called REAPS, which provided 40% fuel efficiency than others but however, in 1979, that thermal reactor has been ditched and the 12A 2-rotor engine comes with lean-burn mechanisim, and the design of the front skirt and tail lights has been changed. Then, in 1982, changes occurred on the engine that provides fuel economy of 10.2km/L based on Japan's 10 mode.

What's surprisingly about the SA22C is the design because it looks more like the Porsche 924, hence dubbing this car as "Poor Man's Porsche". You wouldn't believe that the Japanese copied the design derived from the Germans but hey! It was worth it!

And now, let's meet the other RX-7's that you would normally get on Forza 4. Now, let's advance it to the FC3S, which is more of a working man's RX-7. However, this was one of my favorites.

Here comes the FC3S!!!!

Fans of the INITIAL D franchise will remember the FC3S as Ryosuke Takahashi's car of choice. In Wangan Midnight, this car referred to as "THE LEGENDARY FC", which became the car of choice of Koichi Kijima upon his sudden encounter with the FC3S on the highway. Anyway, the FC3S is more of a working man's RX-7. It still retains the Savanna RX-7 naming but now, it was utilized using Mazda's FC platform. It was launched in Japan since 1985 and later went a minor change in 1989. It's still a "Poor Man's Porsche" because it looks more reminiscent of the Porsche 944. Firstly in 1985, the FC3S comes with a 2-rotor 13B turbocharged engine that produces 185PS of power, then in the 1989 minor change, that engine now produces 215PS of power. In 1987, a Cabriolet version was launched in commemoration of the rotary engine's 20th anniversary. The production know-how of the FC3C was adopted for the first car under Mazda's Eunos brand, the Eunos Roadster.

In 1991, the FC3S underwent a full model change and now referred as FD3S, the best and last RX-7 ever made for the hardcore enthusiasts...

Say hello to the FD3S!

The Savanna naming is gone and it's now referred to as "Efini RX-7", part of Mazda's Efini brand. The FD3S comes with a 13B sequential turbo rotary engine that churns out 255PS of power and the power to weight ratio is 5kg/ps.

In August 1993, the FD3S was updated with enhanced body rigidity, larger damper and revised suspension settings.

In January 1996, the Ẽfini RX-7 name has been renamed as "Mazda RX-7". The car's CPU has been upgraded from 8-bit to 16-bit, providing 265PS of power for the MT model and 255PS for the AT model.

There are more updates occured on the FD3S right until 2002 when the RX-7 production was ended, with 68,589 units produced.

Road & Track magazine said "The ace in Mazda's sleeve is the RX-7, a car once touted as the purest, most exhilarating sports car in the world."

In Initial D, this FD3S served as Keisuke Takahashi's car of choice.

So, 2002 was the final year of the RX-7 but to commemorate its last days of a rotary legend, Mazda launched a special final edition model dubbed as SPIRIT R.

You deserve this spot!

Among other cars, the RX-7 Spirit R is a unicorn car on Forza Motorsport 4. Doesn't matter because you might obtain it via Profile Import when this is the first time you're playing Forza Motorsport 4. Anyway, the Spirit R is the last special edition RX-7 made and only 1000 units are available. There are three types of Spirit R; the Type A features a 5-speed MT and red Recaro seats. Type B is a 2+2 seater that comes with a 5MT. The Type C is also a 2+2 seater but comes with a 4AT. One of three types is probably the best type and that is none other than the TYPE A. Mazda said that the Spirit R Type A is the ultimate RX-7, boasting the most outstanding driving performance in its history.

And there we are. All three generations of the Mazda RX-7 and the special Spirit R that marks the rotary sports car's end in 2002, what would you ask for? We kinda prefer those more than the crappy RX-8 and those packed more respect to the JDM enthusiasts. So, if you have the devil's gift, which three generations of the RX-7 is your pick?

Time to give these RX-7's a run at the Top Gear Test Track!

In the end, turns out that the Spirit R is the best RX-7 ever made...

Toyota Wish (ZGE22W/ZGE20W/ZGE2OG/ZGE25W/ZGE25G) Phase II

Launched in April 2009, this second-generation Toyota WISH is all about practicality and versatility for the average Japanese family. This was made to have a lower, more stylish profile than other wagons, and gave the impression of being fun to drive with its sporty driving and agile cornering. However, it isn't at least impressive for my tastes, or is it?

2013 Toyota WISH

2013 Toyota WISH

Welcome everyone to the 2013 Toyota WISH. This is a facelifted version of the second-generation Toyota WISH but on the outside, it's a bit more different than what you would expect for its minor model change. The Wish 1.8X and the Wish 1.8G variants feature a rather simple design with some silver lining in the middle of the grille. On the 1.8A, 1.8S, and the 2.0Z variants, the front view is much more better looking and the bumpers are a bit more stylish yet sporty. Whichever Wish you choose, the rear lamps are now a bit more chrome than the previous pre-facelift model or maybe it's a hint of something altezza-ish (no, that' can't be right).

2013 Toyota WISH interior

2013 Toyota WISH interior

2013 Toyota WISH interior

On the interior, well, same thing. You still carry up to seven passengers, you still fold them to accommodate various seating arrangements, and that's it. Nothing. You don't expect something special but when it comes to interior colors, it's a difference. For instance, the top of the line 2.0Z variant comes with the two-tone coloring of black and orange. Then, the entry-level 1.8X model comes with either beige or black, whatever floats your boat. Also differs were the instrumental clusters. The top-level 2.0Z and the 1.8G comes with optitron meters while the 1.8S, 1.8A and 1.8X come with analog meters. Also, the 2013 Toyota Wish now comes with a Nanoe option that is fitted on the aircon and some say, it helps protects your skin and hair from dry air during the long drive. Really? Mind you, that Nanoe stuff sourced from Panasonic just doesn't make sense at all...

First off, the 1.8L 2ZR-FAE engine is equipped with Dual VVT-i and the Valvematic system. Power output, if you have 2WD, is 105kW(143PS)/6,200r.p.m. and torque output is 173N・m(17.6kgf・m)/4,000r.p.m. The fuel economy, if you have 2WD, based on Japan's JC08 mode cycle, is 15.8km/L. If you have the 4WD variant, you would expect 96kW(130PS)/6,200r.p.m. of power, 161N・m(16.4kgf・m)/4,000r.p.m. of torque, and 14.4km/L of fuel economy. Now, on the 2.0L 3ZR-FAE engine, which also comes with Dual VVT-i and Valvematic, it produces 112kW(152PS)/6,100r.p.m. of power, 193N・m(19.7kgf・m)/3,800r.p.m. of torque, and 14.4km/L of fuel economy based on Japan's JC08 mode cycle. Whichever engine you chose, you still have the 7-speed Super CVT-i transmission.

Available colors are; White Pearl Crystal Shine. Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Black, Blackish Red Mica, Orange Metallic, Beige Metallic, and Satin Blue Mica Metallic.

My comment:

So that's the 2013 Toyota Wish; new look, same feeling. It's still the same MPV that only idiots from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia want to smuggle but nevertheless, it was made to be more economical to meet up with Japan's improved "eco-car genzei" system. Shockingly, despite it doesn't have the idling stop like most of the modern Japanese cars have, this is more fuel efficient than the recently facelifted 2013 Honda StepWGN but hold on, they're not on the same league. So sorry.

With the facelifted Wish now available in most Netz dealerships, will countries like Hong Kong and Taiwan follow suit? Surely hope but what I really wish for this 2013 Toyota WISH that it shouldn't be smuggled by ASEAN idiots who are addicted to Japanese MPVs. That means you, Malaysians, Indonesians, Thais, and Singaporeans. Don't you ever smuggle this!

Honda Stepwgn 4th generation facelift

2013 Honda StepWGN Spada

2013 Honda StepWGN

The 4th generation Honda StepWGN, launched since October 2009, is now on its minor change for the 2013 model year and with such changes comes with some improvements that is now proven to be much more fuel efficient than the Nissan Serena C26. The changes occurred for the 2013 StepWGN were very very specific. The normal StepWGN now has a new front grille while the stylish StepWGN Spada gained a much stylish front grille, some silver paneling below the grille, new front bumper, and the refined rear lamps.

2013 Honda StepWGN Spada interior

2013 Honda StepWGN interior

Although, the outside was new, the inside remains the same. It still accommodates up to eight people, which is a fitting take for an average Japanese family, and it can be folded for multiple seating arrangements suitable for any situation. Those who are looking for some navigation would be wise to choose an optional HDD with Honda InterNavi on it for real time navigation.

So, the question is, can the 2013 StepWGN really be more fuel efficient than the Nissan Serena C26?! Let's find out. The Nissan Serena's MR20DD has a fuel economy of 14.6km/L based on Japan's JC08 mode cycle. Here on the 2013 StepWGN, it still comes with the R20A engine but now, it comes with the idling stop system. The idling stop system is part of Honda's Earth Dreams Technology and this feature shuts the engine off when stopped and starts it again when the driver's foot is on the pedal, to save petrol. If I meant to say "save petrol", the fuel economy, if you go for the normal StepWGN, is 15.0km/L based on Japan's JC08 mode cycle, so on paper, there's a 0.4 gap between them. Even if the StepWGN Spada's fuel economy is 14.8km/L, it still trounced the Serena C26's fuel economy. What's more aside from the idling stop offered on the StepWGN, it comes equipped with the new generation CVT. Those features really made them attract the new and improved "Eco Car Genzei" system.

There are nine colors available on the StepWGN, depending on the variant, such as Super Platinum Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Polished Metal Metallic, White Crystal Pearl, Premium Super Cool Black Pearl, Crimson Pearl, Premium Cosmic Violet Pearl, Aurora Suede Pearl, and Hidamari Ivory Pearl.

My Comment:

So, the facelifted StepWGN is now fuel efficient than the latest Nissan Serena thanks to its idling stop and the newly developed CVT. Those features did really attract the new and improved "Eco Car Genzei" system and these StepWGN variants, either the normal or the Spada, are a perfect fit for a typical Japanese families. If you're looking for a fuel-efficient minivan in Japan, this is the minivan to buy. Hopefully, this facelifted model would come in Hong Kong soon and I hope it won't be noticed by those Japan-MPV-attracting smugglers, most who are from Malaysia and Indonesia...the idiots...

TNP27 beware. Suzuki's MR Wagon Eco reaches 27.2km/L

2013 Suzuki MR Wagon ECO

Suzuki's 2013 MR Wagon Eco features an improved R06A engine, CVT, and idling stop function promises a fuel economy of 27.2km/L based on Japan's JC08 Mode Test Cycle. This fuel economy puts an extreme caution on Daihatsu's TNP27 Move, even though this latest Daihatsu Move comes with e:S Technology that provides 27km/L based on Japan's JC08 Mode Test Cycle. Sorry, TNP27, but that wasn't enough because a car company named Suzuki's throwing whatever they can to be the most fuel efficient car company in Japan. Could the Suzuki-Daihatsu rivalry get any better?

Honda N BOX (JF1/JF2)

This is Honda's answer to Daihatsu's Tanto and Suzuki's Palette. This is known to be as the Honda N BOX, it's their next best thing since the Vamos.

2012 Honda N BOX

2012 Honda N BOX Custom

Two styles are offered on the N BOX; first is the standard Honda N BOX which features simple styling that is perfect for the housewives of Japan. Lastly is the stylish Honda N BOX Custom which is a "mini-me" StepWGN Spada because of its sporty front view you may find it very intriguing.

2012 Honda N BOX interior

2012 Honda N BOX Custom interior

No matter how simple or cool the interior is, both the Honda N BOX and the N BOX Custom seems to be somewhat very intriguing indeed. The red "ENGINE START STOP" button as seen on the new, 4th-generation, Honda CR-V, was included on the inside of the N BOX. It seems that customers find the inside very easy to relax because of the 173cm of legroom, 218cm of length, 140cm of height, and various seating arrangements.

There is a new engine developed specifically for the N BOX, which is known as the S07A engine. This new 658cc engine produces 58ps of power, 65Nm of torque, and 22.2km/L JC08 of fuel economy thanks to its CVT mated on it. Exclusive on the N BOX Custom is the Turbo Package that provides 64ps of power, 104Nm of torque, and 18.8km/L JC08 of fuel economy, thanks to the CVT with 7-speed Manual Mode. Some variants come with REAL TIME AWD system for enhanced traction and steering. The Honda N BOX is the first Honda vehicle to come with the idling stop system that allows the engine to be shut off automatically when stopped. Ideal to reduce carbon emissions.

The normal Honda N BOX comes in eight colors; Premium White Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Premium Deep Rosso Pearl, Cool Mist Metallic, Premium Bronze Pearl, Hidamari Ivory Pearl, and Cherry Shell Pink Metallic. The Honda N BOX Custom comes in seven colors; Premium White Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Premium Deep Rosso Pearl, Polished Metal Metallic, Premium Dynamic Blue Pearl, and Premium Gold Purple Pearl.

My comment:
You may refer to this as a StepWGN in a Vamos' body but this Honda is all about ecology and this is the first Honda to be ever equipped with the brand's first Idling Stop system that allows its new S07A engine to shut off when stopped at the red light, giving 22.2km/L JC08 of fuel economy.

The new N BOX lineup will be on sale this December 16 at all Honda Cars dealerships nationwide. It will pick the Suzuki Palette and the Daihatsu Tanto as its rivals.

Suzuki adds IDLING STOP on the Solio. Releases special edition "BLACK & WHITE"

2012 Suzuki Solio BLACK & WHITE

Most people love the all new Suzuki Solio probably because of the commercial starring famous J-POP male group, KAT-TUN. We couldn't confess it but because of such popularity, the new Suzuki Solio won the 2011 Good Design Award. To commemorate its popularity, Suzuki launched the much awaited idling stop variant for the Solio.

The idling stop system equipped on the Solio's K12B engine will provide a maximum fuel economy of 21.2km/L JC08 and 24.5km/L 10-15. So far then, the Solio's ecology is shaping up well.

Also, Suzuki released a special edition Solio "BLACK & WHITE", which is available in two titular colors; Pearl White and Bluish Black Pearl. Special amenities include a smoke-colored grille, black interior, checkered seats, special 15" rims, BLACK & WHITE emblem, and loads of extras. This variant is all about unpredictability.

e:S killer! Suzuki launches ALTO ECO!

2012 Suzuki Alto ECO

This is Suzuki's answer to the Daihatsu Mira e:S, the 2012 Suzuki Alto Eco. Unlike the Daihatsu Mira e:S that accumulates a record-breaking fuel economy of 30.0km/L JC08 and 32.0km/L 10-15, the new Suzuki Alto Eco accumulates, and this will put the Mira e:S "on notice", 30.2km/L JC08 and 32.0km/L 10-15! That's a .2km/L gap between the 2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S and the 2012 Suzuki Alto Eco!

You see, that's because the new Suzuki Alto is equipped with the new R06A engine lifted from the third-generation Suzuki MR Wagon but with the improved CVT and Idling Stop system that provided an impressive fuel economy that ousted the Mira e:S' rule of being the most fuel efficient gasoline-fed vehicle.

Available this December 13, 2011, prices start at 895,000 Japanese Yen for the Alto ECO-L variant and 995,000 for the Alto ECO-S variant. Those guys who made the Daihatsu Mira e:S has one word about the new 2012 Suzuki Alto ECO:

"You're Welcome"

Other goodies on the High Performance Spec include 19-inch rims, MICHELIN PRIMACY LC tire, tuned lowdown suspension, and Vehicle Dynamics Control.

TNP30

2012 Subaru Stella Custom

2012 Daihatsu Move Custom
Concerned after being overtaken by the 2012 Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV because of its 30.0km/L fuel economy based on Japan's 10-15 Mode Test Cycle, all Daihatsu Move and Subaru Stella models will get an improved improved idling stop system that provides 27.0km/L based on Japan's JC08 Mode Test Cycle, which is 30.0km/L in 10-15 Mode test cycle! In JC08 terms, this is fuel efficient than the Mazda Demio SKYACTIV's! Could we call both of them, TNP30?

Honda Freed & Freed Spike facelift / Honda Freed Hybrid & Freed Spike Hybrid

I want to talk about the Honda Freed. Okay, that car was launched in May 2008 as a 2009 model and this was the most practical Honda minivan ever made in Asia using the platform lifted from the Honda Fit/Jazz as a foundation. It was later exported in countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Then on the July of 2010, the Freed Spike debuted and it features a sporty profile and made to be more utilitarian than being a minivan. With these two gained success, the Honda Freed series welcomes them their first facelift and that's not all, Honda welcomes the Freed Hybrid and Freed Spike Hybrid in the ever growing Honda Hybrids line-up consisting the Honda Insight, Honda Fit Hybrid, Honda Fit Shuttle Hybrid, and the Honda CR-Z.

What's new on the Freed?

2012 Honda Freed Hybrid

2012 Honda Freed

2012 Honda Freed Hybrid interior

On the standard Freed, we should expect new rims depending on the grade, a revised front grille, new side view mirror, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, standard three-point ELR seat belts, Plating + Clear rear combination lamps, headlight garnish, and impressive cosmetic updates on the Freed's G Aero variant. Now, they dropped the 5-seater Freed Flex variant and this model's available only in 6-seater and 7-seater variants.

The standard Freed is powered by a L15A (1.5L i-VTEC) engine that produces 118PS/6,600rpm of power output and 144Nm/4,800rpm of torque output. FF variants come with a CVT that provides them 17.0km/L of fuel economy based on Japan's 10-15 Mode test cycle. On the other hand, 4WD variants of the Freed come with the 5-speed automatic transmission that provides them 14.0km/L of fuel economy based on Japan's 10-15 Mode test cycle.

You will be able to distinguish the Freed Hybrid from the crowd of its unique front grille, HYBRID badge on the side and rear view, unique rear lamps, and the 1.5L i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) that provides 24.0km/L of fuel econmy based on Japan's 10-15 Mode test cycle (21.6km/L on JC08 cycle).

Available in seven color variations such as Premium White Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Super Platinum Metallic, Polished Metal Metallic, Premium Blackish Pearl, Cobalt Blue Pearl, and Premium Blue Opal Metallic.

What's new on the Freed Spike?

2012 Honda Freed Spike Hybrid

2012 Honda Freed Spike

2012 Honda Freed Spike Hybrid interior

It was been there last year but the upgrades on the Freed Spike keeps this utility minivan updated such as new rims, new side view mirrors, standard armrests, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, standard three-point ELR seat belts, and ECON button.

The standard Freed Spike is powered by a L15A (1.5L i-VTEC) engine that produces 118PS/6,600rpm of power output and 144Nm/4,800rpm of torque output. FF variants come with a CVT that provides them 17.0km/L of fuel economy based on Japan's 10-15 Mode test cycle. On the other hand, 4WD variants of the Freed Spike come with the 5-speed automatic transmission that provides them 14.0km/L of fuel economy based on Japan's 10-15 Mode test cycle.

You will be able to distinguish the Freed Spike Hybrid from the crowd of its unique front grille, HYBRID badge on the side and rear view, unique rear lamps, and the 1.5L i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) that provides 24.0km/L of fuel econmy based on Japan's 10-15 Mode test cycle (21.6km/L on JC08 cycle).

Available in seven color variations such as Premium White Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Super Platinum Metallic, Polished Metal Metallic, Premium Blackish Pearl, Cool Turquoise Metallic, and Premium Blue Opal Metallic.

My comment:

The addition of the Hybrid lineup on the Honda Freed and Honda Freed Spike really tries to keep this minivan update even when these two Honda minivans updated with new extras. Those minivans can be highly essential to the average Japanese families, especially the soccer moms everywhere.

How to make the Mira e:S a little more attractive

2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S

Does Daihatsu really need Bruce Willis to do the Mira e:S commercial?

With the recent launch of the world's most fuel efficient gasoline-fed vehicle, the Daihatsu Mira e:S, this Japanese kei car maker launched two unique TV commercials for the Mira e:S aired in Japan one day after the car's launch date. So, why would we need Bruce Willis to do this ad? Besides, Bruce Willis is an action star, why would you bring a star in a reasonably priced car commercial?

LOL at that ad where Bruce Willis said it wrong. "DAIMOTSU MIRO OOS!"

Mr. Willis, that's "Daihatsu Mira e:S". ミライース!

ちゃんと覚えるんだブルース。

Daihatsu Mira e:S (LA300S/LA310S)

Last year, the arrival of the 2011 Daihatsu Move reigned as the world's most fuel efficient eco-car that has the reputation of TNP27 (27.0km/L in Japan's 10-15 Mode Cycle), but later in June 2011, it was dethroned by the 2012 Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV because the Demio SKYACTIV has a new P3-VPS engine that accumulates 30.0km/L in Japan's 10-15 Mode scale. Today, the Demio SKYACTIV's reign is over because a new eco-car steps in and its made by Daihatsu. This new eco car has the concept of "3rd Eco Car" (第3のエコカー) and it accumulates a record-high fuel economy 30.0km/L in Japan's JC08 mode scale and 32.0km/L in 10-15 Mode scale. Welcome to the 3rd Eco Car, the 2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S (ミライース).

2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S

The e:S naming in the Mira e:S was derived from the Daihatsu e:S Concept, as seen from the 2009 Motor Show and the concept of 3RD ECO CAR (第3のエコカー) can be somewhat unknown but in my unique guessing, I think this is the third Daihatsu to be equipped with the revolutionary Eco Idle system. The first was the 5th generation Daihatsu Move and the second was the Daihatsu Move Conte's minor change. The all new Daihatsu Mira e:S has no relation to the Daihatsu e:S Concept car because of its form and packaging. In fact, this can be somewhat an unexpected twist.

The exterior design can be somewhat shabby for a compact car and if you look at it, it looks like it was some kind of an everyday commuter car on an average province. Think of it as a poor man's Kia Morning but the new Mira e:S is focused to be more simple and practical. Up front, you can see a new badge which in fact it looks like some sort of a leaf but this is a symbol of being the most fuel efficient gasoline-fed car ever made by Daihatsu for Japan in mind. The side view can be somewhat similar to the Nissan March K13 and the rear view is somewhat too squishy and rather too blander. Is this the car or is it the design center's too underfunded?

2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S interior

Forget about the underfunded exterior design, let's take peek at the interior of the Mira e:S. As I can see, there is a similar looking climate control system that was last seen at the fifth-generation Daihatsu Move and the center console is too similar from the second-generation Daihatsu Boon/Toyota Passo and if you stare closely at the instrumental, you can observe that everything is too digital, not analog. With such an odd-clustered cockpit, the Mira e:S can accommodate up to four adults and nothing's too special about the bland interior. Guess we should find a way to make it more reasonable inside the Mira e:S...

2012 Daihatsu Mira e:S

And now for the main course of the Mira e:S, its performance. The new Daihatsu Mira e:S is equipped with the special KF engine that accumulates 52PS/6800rpm of power output and 60Nm/5200rpm of torque output. It even comes with a CVT for optimized fuel economy and smooth driving. For the fuel economy, the Mira e:S can accumulate, and if you were sitting down, 30.0km/L in Japan's JC08 Mode scale. That's 32.0km/L in 10-15 Mode scale, meaning that's superbly higher than the Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV and the TNP27 Daihatsu Move combined! What an incredible fuel economy record that makes it the world's most fuel efficient compact car ever made! That wouldn't be done without the help of the Eco Idle (Idle Stop and Go) system, newly developed i-EGR (ion controlled Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system (that applies the ion current combustion control, in which ions in the combustion chamber are used to identify the state of combustion, to EGR control), lighter bodywork, thermal management, and Eco power generation control (with regenerative braking functions). These new technology applied are called "e:S Technology" and it was made exclusively on the new Mira e:S.

The Mira e:S not only is fuel efficient, but it can be the safest eco car in mind thanks to the features such as Total Advanced Function (TAF) body, Safety-Oriented Friendly Interior, SRS airbags, optional ISOFIX child seat, Vehicle Stability Control, and Anti-lock Braking System.

The new Daihatsu Mira e:S comes in eight unique color variations such as Sky Blue, Shell Rose, Cotton Ivory, Plum Brown Crystal Mica, Black Mica Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Pearl White III, and White.

My comment:
As a fan of fuel-efficient vehicles, I am impressed to see that the all new Daihatsu Mira e:S dethroned both the Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV and the fifth-generation Daihatsu Move combined! Imagine, 30.0km/L in Japan's JC08 mode cycle, that's somewhat extremely high enough to call it the world's most fuel efficient gasoline-fed car in the market today. Looks like a star is born from Daihatsu and I hope the all new Mira e:S can be proven to be the most successful eco-car made for those who are looking for fuel-efficient cars today because of continuous rise of gas prices today.

See the difference - 2012 Daihatsu Move Custom RS vs. 2011 Move Custom RS

2011 Daihatsu Move Custom RS

2012 Daihatsu Move Custom RS

This is much more fun to spot the difference but not now. For the 2012 Daihatsu Move Custom RS, the difference can be seen on the alloy wheels. Although, we do kinda miss the good alloy wheel design from the 2011 Move Custom RS because it looks nice. Now the new alloy wheels for the 2012 Daihatsu Move Custom RS kinda reminds me of those from the 2012 Subaru Stella Custom R Limited S but the alloy wheel design looks redundant and misleading.

The good news is that the 2012 Move Custom RS's fuel economy has just increased slightly. Previously the 2011 Move Custom RS 2WD's fuel economy weighs in 22.0km/L but now, the 2012 Move Custom RS 2WD's fuel economy gained an additional 0.5km/L, making it eligible for Japan's "Eco Car Genzei" system.
