Outtakes: Hyundai Santa Fe 2013 Philippines?

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

OUTTAKE

Over the months, ever since the all new 2013 third-generation Santa Fe from Hyundai was launched in South Korea in April 2012, I've been battered by so many Filipinos inquiring that when will this new model be launched in the Philippines. I know, we've been tormenting for months now and yes, the torment continues by a bunch of die-hard Hyundai fans in the Philippines, asking about the 2013 Santa Fe's Philippine arrival.

No wonder why our article about the THIRD GENERATION HYUNDAI SANTA FE DM ended up for being one of the most read posts in this blog for a couple of weeks now. Other posts that made it to the top ten most read posts on my blog include the ending of Mara Clara, most read by Malaysians thinking how does this end. If you were a Malaysian watching Mara Clara, please back off about how it ends until the moment of truth. Remember what Doctor Who's River Song said...

Spoilers.

(laughing)

Anyway, back to the issue of the endless torment , to shut your K-Pop addict mouths, I've just heard that the official Facebbok page from Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (https://www.facebook.com/hyundaiph) said that they've already released the all new 2013 Santa Fe...quietly. Here's the message from the official Hyundai Philippines Facebook page...

Ladies and Gentlemen, finally it has arrived! Check out the All-new Hyundai Santa Fe in most Metro Manila Hyundai dealers today! For inquiries you may contact your preferred dealer, here's our locator to help you out: http://bit.ly/HARIDealerLocator

For more information about the All-New Hyundai Santa Fe, check out the spec sheet through this link: http://bit.ly/AllnewSantaFe

Also informed that prices start at 1,768,000 Pesos for the 2.2 R e-VGT FWD model and 2,228,000 Pesos for the 2.2 R e-VGT 4WD model with added features such as sunroof, HID headlamps, automatic wipers, chrome door handles and a 'dark chrome' front grille.

Happy now? Now get out of the way, Filipino Hyundai fans. Get out of the way...

Let's Do The News! (September 27, 2012)

Tsk...I can't believe that you didn't like the BRZ either!

Yep.

Couple of months ago when the Scion FR-S broke into Forza Motorsport 4 since August, you said that it was terrifying and then you chose the Korean-made Gen. Coupe instead. What's gotten into you old man?

(audience laughing)

Uh...

Wait, don't tell me. You think the BRZ is too horrid much like the FR-S or 86. Oh hold on! Both the FR-S, 86, and the BRZ are the same thing! They both have boxer engines, they both have rear-wheel drive, they're both coupes, and how come you dislike them.

Look, Hammo. Before you get frustrated on this, let me think of something. When the Scion FR-S showed up in Gran Turismo 5, I am unsure that this is a Gran Turismo-only car but when the FR-S showed up on Forza 4, I got enraged and then...well, honestly, the 86 and the FR-S is NO HARM DONE to me. I am starting to respect the GT86/FR-S like what you said there but with the Subaru BRZ, this is a different story. I mean it's going to be another one of those cars that are "IT'S MORE FUN IN GRAN TURISMO" such as the Insight, or the Countryman, or even Lister, the Jaguar XJR9, or whatever Gran Turismo throws us at it.

(audience laughing)

You mumbling moron, pal. You think the BRZ is going to be another car that you'll going to hate, much like the MINI COUNTRYMAN that you said that this is the car made for those who are sackboys, those who are interested in PS3-only IDOLM@STER 2 costumes, and Whovians.

(Audience laughing)

Anyway, should we do the news then?

Right, the news and for this nerdy conundrum, Namco Bandai unveiled the 12th and final DLC Catalog for THE IDOLM@STER 2 for the PS3.

Okay, what's it for this final DLC Catalog for THE IDOLM@STER 2? Do they got some costumes from the XBOX 360 version?

Yes.

(oooohhh)

But just one.

(awwww)

It was the Exercise Wear NEO costume that resembles a P.E. uniform. It's the one we saw from THE IDOLM@STER G4U Volume 7 a couple of months ago.

Just one? Don't tell me. Namco Bandai added some PS3-exclusive costumes...

(audience laughing)

Sorry to disappointing Jezza but they did. New-to-PS3 DLC costumes are...

1) Marine Check Statice

2) Twinkle Spangles

3) Astral Messenger

...plus, there are accessories on this final DLC Catalog as NBGI prepares to unleash THE IDOLM@STER Shiny Festa this October.

That made me disappointed. I can see why those DLC costumes made for the PS3 version of THE IDOLM@STER 2 are different and I am very disappointed about those differences. Don't care why...

(audience laughing)

So, what's next?

Oh I know! DROP THE TARDIS TO THE SUBARU BRZ and who knows? It's like Top Gear dropped a dumpster to the Maserati Biturbo! Who knows? It got what it deserved!

(audience laughing)

(cheers and applause)

Oh dear. You did it again. Another rant for that. (laughing)

Or why don't I'll drop the Subaru BRZ to the TARDIS! Both the BRZ and the TARDIS are wrecked!

(audience laughing)

What's the matter? Doctor Who got you're tongue? Oh wait! Is it because of that PS3 game you've played, that's what's in your head...

Before thinking of that, I also forgot that NBGi did add a DLC song exclusive to the PS3 version of THE IDOLM@STER 2. It's titled ふるふるフューチャー☆ but anyway, move on...

That song, ふるふるフューチャー☆, and that Subaru BRZ, or the Mini Countryman, or the Honda Insight, it's like....um...this is what I think of it...

I'M IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTION

(audience laughing)

IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTION LIKE DAVID TENNANT, HUH? (laughing)

Afterwards okay, this is what I think of it...

"Every minute I'm listening out for that stupid TARDIS sound." - Amy Pond, Doctor Who

(audience laughing)

What could possibly go wrong?

Wanna know why? Simple! (imitates TARDIS engine whooshing sound)

(audience laughing)

(cheers and applause)

Enough! Okay! Enough! I had enough of that stupid TARDIS sound for that metaphor you came up! Can we move on?

Anyway, before moving on, let's just say that BBC Worldwide announced that Doctor Who Series 7 Part One is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray this late 2012 and aside from the five episodes offered, there is a Pond Life featurette, behind the scenes, and a footage of Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill, and Karen Gillan at the San Diego Comic Con.

Okay, Lamborghini, for the Paris Motor Show, they've unveiled an updated version of the baby Lambo, the Gallardo LP560-4 and hey, this can't get any insane than this...

2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

No way! That looks better than the Reventon-styled LP560-4 thingy.

But wait, there's more! They've also featured a special model called the LP570-4 Edizione Technica.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Edizione Technica

Cool! Like the Superleggera, only sinister in Red and Black! Ohhh la la! (wolf whistle)

(audience laughing)

I kinda admit that with that black and red coloring on that Edizione Technica, it really looks like the track-only Sesto Elemento. That really is a genuine devil even though Lamborghini is currently under Audi's hands. As before, Audi did the boring engine stuff while Lamborghini gone insane with the styling. Perhaps what Lambo didn't do is put some space thrusters, machine guns and anything cool to make Lambos crazy.

But all Lamborghinis are crazy party crashers. Don't forget that.

Anyway, Bentley, another carmaker owned by Volkswagen, rethinks their Continental GT as a racing machine, marking the return to their motorsport racing. Here it is look, it's the Continental GT3 Concept and this study shapes Bentley's return to motorsports...

Bentley Continental GT3 Concept

Also, VW plans to rethink what would their 2014 Golf GTi will look like by showcasing a prototype version of the 2014 Golf GTi at this year's Paris Motor Show. Here it is look...

2012 Volkswagen GTi concept

For mine, it was Porsche trying to rethink the Panamera by making a Sport Turismo version that some say, it will take on the CLS Shooting Brake in the future but it's a concept.

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo concept

Pbbt....just could the Panamera couldn't get ugly...

(audience laughing)

Anyway, later on in the public day of the 2012 Paris Motor Show, we'll featuring what will the cars be featured on this show and if you're there, Number One rule....NO TAKING PICTURES OF GIRLS. Okay? They're nothing but a waste of money from the organizers, putting up girls on car shows. That's not good. Consider the Euro debt crisis.

(audience laughing)

So, what do we do?

Well, with all that time wasted, could we finish this up?

Ahem, we're too short for that. Can you please ask more?

Okay. Sorry for that. Anyway, is your tissue boxes ready for the Ponds' end on the fall season finale of Doctor Who?

(audience murmuring)

Right. Although, I do got so many tissue boxes rationed just before the moment we say goodbye to Amy and Rory.

Ahem, we only got few tissue boxes...

(audience laughing)

Never mind about that. Next time, I should be working on my farewell stuff for Amy and Rory. Little known fact that if it weren't for them, our life would be boring.

Ahem, Real life or Doctor life. Your choice...

(audience laughing)

Should we make a farewell letter to the PONDS?

Yeah, but which PONDS? We might confuse it over your sister's facial wash that is POND'S...

(audience laughing)

Amy and Rory. We are going to say goodbye with a bang.

Really?

Yeah, let's think of something...and on that bombshell, that is the news... Gosh, what GIF overload...Anyway, and we'll leave you with this...Car Town highlighted a genius template designer known by the name of RidesXGee (https://www.facebook.com/RidesXGee). So, if you want a really really good template on your car from Car Town, RidesXGee got your back. This CarTown template genius has spent lifetime creating the most ideal Car Town templates your cars would love. Feel free to stop by okay?

Right, and also leaving is a little something we got from a store that sells anime figures. Surely, it's our pick. It's Nako Oshimizu from Hanasaku Iroha as part of the BEACH QUEENS range. Have a look around with Nakochi...

What’s in our Car Town garage now? (September 27, 2012)

What’s in our Car Town garage now? Let's have a look on what we have from the normal, to the LIMITED EDITION, and whatever Car Town ever offered.

2012 Ford Fiesta

When the Ford Fiesta first arrived in Europe, it became a successful compact car but when it was launched in the United States for the first time in 2010, the Fiesta wants to stand out the rest of the competition until it became a global car when it hit Asia for the first time under the One Ford approach. When it was reviewed on Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson took some serious misadventures while reviewing the Ford Fiesta, especially when it was chased by a Corvette on a shopping mall and took it to the Royal Marines' beach assault craft.

Ford Fiesta

2013 Hyundai Veloster

This is the most unique hatchback ever made by the Koreans. The Veloster has a unique three door design. With one door on the driver's side and two doors on the passenger side, you can't tell that this car is like a Swiss army knife on wheels. Powering it was the 1.6L GDi engine and it was mated with either a 6-speed manual, automatic, or Hyundai's new EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission for quicker shifting than manuals. Little known fact that this appeared on the City Hunter Korean drama starring Lee Min Ho.

Hyundai Veloster

2012 Chevrolet Sonic

We've seen the Sonic doing so many firsts. It did a 360-degree rotation off the ramp and over a big skateboard, skydiving, bungee jumping, doing a music video for Ok Go's Needing/Getting, and so much more, all in this size. The Chevrolet Sonic is "so you" and it is an ideal compact car that suits your lifestyle. If you need a good compact, best not to be with the Fiesta or a Veloster. This is the compact you should drive because it made a lot of sensible stuff no other car comes close.

GT5 meets Pride of Boxer, the Subaru BRZ

An old friend...

This is the Subaru Impreza WRX STi and yes, I drove this one a few years ago on Gran Turismo 5. I also drove it on other racing video games. And Top Gear reviewed this one alongside the Lancer Evolution X. So, why I am now driving it again? There is only one reason why I'm driving it again, I LIKE IT!

This car is what Subaru does

In every tangible way, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is better than this but in every intangible way, the Pleiades kicks the diamond's bottom. Sure, it doesn't corner well, brakes are bit sluggish, not quite quick on the straights but it was one heck of a ride. That car really have the versatility of the Lancer Evolution with the lunacy of the, well let's just say, the Nissan GT-R. The Impreza STi is the greatest Subaru in all of human history. It is!

This car is what Subaru does...except that now what Subaru does is this as well...

What's this? An 86? No wait...

It's a Subaru BRZ!

This is the BRZ, the most interesting and the most amusing Subaru...ever made...

This is the first ever two-door Subaru coupe since the Impreza Retna and the Alcyone/SVX went off the map in the 1990's. Never knew to say that Subaru now makes a two-door coupe again ever since they stopped making the other two in the past. And, this is the first ever Subaru with a rear-wheel drive layout but it's now what you've expected to be because this is just a Toyota 86 in Subaru badges. Ahem, yes, although both the BRZ and the 86/FR-S look the same but are there any differences?

There are so many inquiries around the world that what is the difference between the Toyota 86 and the Subaru BRZ. Tell you what, some experts said that the Toyota 86/Scion FR-S was made to be sporty while the Subaru BRZ is more of a softer version. A Toyota-Subaru joint venture is quite a fantastically complicated idea and here in Gran Turismo 5, the 86 caters most Toyota fans everywhere. What about the Scooby fans? Maybe they did answered the concerns and they give Subaru fans a chance to try out the Subaru BRZ but how can I say about the BRZ?

The first strike

You know what, this is going to be as different as the Toyota 86 even though both of them have the same experiences...I know...

While the 86/FR-S is all about balanced and fun enough to misbehave, this BRZ misbehaves a lot but I think driving the BRZ feels like I am the sort of idiot spend so much time listening to that stupid TARDIS sound. Yes, the BRZ is the only Subaru you can make it dance thanks to its RWD layout but regarding my taste, this is going to be as ridiculous as those PS3-exclusive costumes from THE IDOLM@STER 2....I know...

You can make this Subie dance...

The question is, does it feel like a Subaru?

Does it feel like a Subaru? I think not. What a silly question...

It's about as pretty as
a STRATOS BUTTERFLY..

As diabolical as a Dalek...

The 2.0L Boxer 4 engine generates about 200PS of power, 205Nm of torque, and a noise that can tickle a Time Lord's tingly bits. The only way you can have more fun in the BRZ is to poke it with a sonic screwdriver while wearing a bowtie and a fez...I know...

Proud of Boxer Rear-Wheel Drive Zenith

After spending a few minutes with the BRZ, I'm delighted to say...the BRZ is horrid. HORRID. I am starting to hate this BRZ because it is now becoming a car that is certified "IT'S MORE FUN IN GRAN TURISMO" and it's true. Don't go looking for some cool stuff to make the BRZ more interesting and because it's becoming the only car you can play it with your PS3 controller, this car is becoming an ideal waste of time unless if you're a girl and the type of clothes you're wearing are nothing but Stratos Butterfly, Burning Performer, White School Swimsuit, Cutie Insect, Rainy Suzuran, Dressy Alice, Random Color Beauty, Digital Spacecraft, Full Bloom Yukata Dress, or Devilkin Swimming Suit.

If they were softdrinks, they were Coke and Pepsi

Do you like 86 or BRZ?

If I was working on Consumer Reports, best to put the BRZ on the "DO NOT BUY" list because for me, it's now a "IT'S MORE FUN IN GRAN TURISMO" car and only a Time Lord would wanna have fun on this as much as the next guy. If you need more fun, best to recommend the 86/FR-S. That's all.

Who needs 4WD to go anywhere?

In Top Gear USA, the boys are trying to state that you don't need a 4wd car to go offroad. With Rutledge on the Toyota Yaris, Tanner on the Lincoln Town Car, and Adam on the Ford Mustang V6, they're tackling America's toughest roads. Struggling but who cares about it?

At the near end, we saw Adam's Mustang totaled thanks to his idea of putting a glider on the top, thinking that this can glide. EPIC FAIL for him.

On that bombshell, that concludes the First Half of this season's Top Gear. We've witnessed cop cars, micro minis, cult classics, offroaders, Stig's offroading cousin, tractors, crop duster, and ordinary rental cars go offroading...

Be cool, they'll be back soon for the second half...

What’s in our Car Town garage now? Let's have a look on what we have from the normal, to the LIMITED EDITION, and whatever Car Town ever offered.

2012 Lotus Exige S

Yes, the Evora may have a V6 engine from a Toyota but for the enthusiasts, the Evora, even with its supercharged V6 engine, is a bit heavy and what they like is traditional lightweights such as the Elise and the Exige. What if that supercharged V6 engine that powers the Evora has been placed on a lightweight Lotus? The result is this, the all new 2012 Lotus Exige S V6, the hardtop hardcore version of the Elise, now made even better with its 3.5L V6 supercharged engine. Lotus enthusiasts love this new version for its track-day use and its lightweight body.

2012 Lotus Exige S

2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

The baby Rangie maybe a bit well focused on city driving but its offroad capabilities are much like the regular Range Rover. They even had former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham influenced the design for the Evoque. This luxury crossover is all about THE POWER OF PRESENCE and I think this is one of my personal favorites on this social game.

2012 Acura MDX (NEW!)

Subaru XV (GP7)

In the past, we never knew that Subaru made a crossover version of the popular Subaru Impreza. In 1995, we saw a variant of the Impreza called the Gravel EX that combines the ruggedness of the sport utility vehicle and the quality of a sports car. However, in 1997, it was discontinued but in 2010, the Gravel Express was reborn as the XV, Impreza XV, a rugged crossover version of the third generation Impreza but last year, it was phased out in preparation of the fourth Impreza. With the Impreza, now on its fourth generation, has the Sport hatchback and the G4 sedan, Subaru decided to give the XV another go but this time...they are not allowed to use the Impreza name. Just XV.

a new type

2013 Subaru XV

And here it is. This really is the XV and what Subaru did is beef up the normal Subaru Impreza Sport hatchback and dress it up with some ruggedness that suits an everyday adventurer who want to go out for a trip to Hokkaido or Mt. Fuji. From the looks of it, the all new 2013 Subaru XV now really resembles like the XV Concept as seen in Shanghai last year. It looks great for those who can't afford the Subaru Legacy Outback.

Don't be surprised though, this car's been available in the US, Europe, and Asia, and this is somewhat a late arrival to bring the XV to Japan but what to expect more on the Japanese-spec Subaru XV was this...

The XV comes with the FB20 engine from the latest Subaru Impreza mated with Subaru's legendary Symmetrical AWD so it was made to conquer any kind of road on any kind of weather because the XV was made for the outdoorsy person who loves adventures. Not only made for the outdoorsman, it's also a city cruiser because on the urban streets, the XV tries to stand out the crowd and that's something if you are the kind of person who wears a North Face jacket for autumn in Tokyo. Anyway, the FB20 engine though, this produces 150PS of power and it was mated with the new generation Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for smoother driving. For fuel consumption, the XV takes about 15.8km/L, that's about as similar as the Mitsubishi RVR but less than the Nissan Juke's.

Also, unlike any others, the XV do get an optional Eyesight safety system with a feature that works like a Vovlo car, which is a bi-word for safety. Cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic braking, that's how the Subaru Eyesight kicks in, well you get that idea.

This crossover Impreza maybe work for those who got on with their North Face gear for an outing at either Hokkaido or Mt. Fuji but as a city car, seems that most people think that you brought a dirt-goer to a socialite's party. Guests will think that you're a bit down and dirty, something like The Stig's offroad driving cousin I saw a couple of weeks ago who beat the kayak with an offroader. Still, it's now a global car, no wonder Malaysians had a chance to build one of these so a toast to this rugged Impreza that can go anywhere.

The SRT Viper GTS-R on FM4

Le Mans Viper reporting for duty!

It was in one of these. Well, not exactly one of these. Yes, this is the SRT Viper GTS-R, the race-spec version of the SRT Viper and part of Forza Motorsport 4's September Pennzoil Car Pack, the final DLC car pack to be ever offered on this game.

Final DLC car pack on this game? Hmmm....Very convincing. Never thought of it that this is the last car pack we will ever get on Forza 4. Anyway, the car...

Another SRT Viper GTS-R!

It's like the SRT Viper GTS in terms of its looks but the 8.4L V10 engine was been toned down to 8.0L and the power output's reduced from 640HP to 455HP in order to meet the regulations of the GT-class for the American Le Mans. For the GT class, it is required that a GT-class racer to have the maximum engine size of 5.5L but the 8-litre GTS-R was exempted, requiring a restrictor in the engine’s intake tract. Also, the luxuries on the interior has been stripped and replaced it with racing peripherals and they made it lighter than the normal SRT Viper. It weighs almost about three tons.

Here in Forza 4, they featured not one but two SRT Viper GTS-R racers. One is the #91, which made it on 10th place for the GT-class, and the #93 Viper. Little known fact that major sponsors for the SRT Viper GTS-R includes Forza Motorsport, TWS Forged, Michelin, Magneti Marelli, Sabelt, Pennzoil, and Mopar. Something bothered me that a couple of months ago, Car Town did featured a Forza Motorsport-sponsored #91 Viper GTS-R. Isn't that too timey-wimey? Never mind that. I will be driving the #91 Viper and I am going to survive the assault at Road America until my uploaded YouTube video regarding Viper GTS-R's at the Top Gear Test Track and when uploading starts, I shall set off....

And because it's starting to upload, the Viper assault begins...

Viper Assault

Ooh, it's getting a bit too dynamic...

Okay, 0-60 takes over three seconds and top speed...not as fast as the road car. SRT claims that it's about 182MPH. Gearbox's mounted at the back for better weight distribution, carbon fiber body, aircon on the racing cockpit as a regulation to keep racers well-ventilated, I am starting to think about this is my new office. My new cubicle for the race track perhaps. But rather than being a cubicle, the SRT Viper GTS-R tends to be even more dynamic so you have to watch out for that because the slightest mistake may cost you dearly. It may not about as amazing as the Corvette Racing ZR1 I drove last June but I'm managing...

SEVERAL MINUTES LATER...

Okay, I think my upload's about 70% done and let's not mess around shall we? Let's be serious...

Nearly hit the cone...

Mmmmm....toasty!

I now have 90% complete on my upload and I'm starting to get serious about the SRT Viper GTS-R's hidden talent, something that will give the judges a BIG YES. And if I mean BIG YES, I wanna refer to an Amy Pond-kind of BIG YES. I am unable to contain excitement to this...

BIG YES!

UNABLE TO CONTAIN EXCITEMENT

..because it's a BIG YES and I am UNABLE TO CONTAIN EXCITEMENT, I'm starting to like this stripped-out race-spec version of the SRT Viper but then someone said that the upload is complete so...my excitement's over...

Excitement's end...

It was quite a thrill for me to drive the SRT Viper GTS-R and for that Community Rivals event set on Road Atlanta course using nothing but Viper GTS-R's, here's how I stacked up...

Here's how I stacked up...

To mark the occasion, let's watch the YouTube video I've uploaded...
