Asian Invasion! 4G GS and JX

2013 Lexus GS350

2011 Infiniti JX Concept

This year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance at Monterey became more exciting because Toyota's Lexus showcases the upcoming, 4th-generation, Lexus GS while Nissan's Infiniti showcases the JX Concept, which previews the next seven-seater crossover from Infiniti. Both of these will come out at the first quarter of next year!

Talk about killing two birds in one stone!

2013 Lexus GS Press Release:
Lexus Reveals All-New 2013 GS 350 at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

• A Sport Sedan with World-Class Luxury and Evocative Design Shows New Identity of Lexus
• Outstanding Driving Dynamics and Innovative Technology Combined
• Spacious Interior With Open, Modern Architecture

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., August 18, 2011 – Lexus today unveiled the all-new GS 350 at a press conference in conjunction with the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The new 2013 GS combines bold, dynamic styling, precise handling, innovative technology, and a spacious interior. In addition to the GS 350, other 2013 GS models that will be launched in early 2012 include hybrid and F Sport versions, with further details to be announced later this year.

"Today, buyers in the mid-size luxury segment want a more engaging driving experience, styling that makes a statement, and a roomier interior package," said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "With the all-new GS, we're giving them what they asked for, and more."

Along with a new Lexus signature spindle grille, the GS is a car that conveys a tangible sense of driver confidence, with a redesigned chassis and a wide, strong stance that inspires and rewards driver participation with crisp and precise handling.

GS engineers challenged themselves to develop a more spacious interior environment. While leaving exterior dimensions virtually unchanged, they dramatically increased cabin and trunk space to create an interior that can easily transport passengers and their luggage in luxury and style regardless of distance.

Richly endowed with world-class features and premium details, the new GS is supported by advanced, performance-enhancing technology that makes it more than just a luxury car. The driver and front passenger will enjoy the clean appearance of the new high-resolution central control display.

A New Personality and An Invitation To Drive
Designing the new GS 350 to be both strong and agile was a key focus of the engineering team. They looked to the Lexus LFA supercar for inspiration and carried over some key elements to provide a more engaging driving experience, including a new aerodynamic body; a completely new platform with a wider stance and stiffer structure; a transmission with quicker shifts; distinctive engine sound and exhaust notes; and better seat support.

The new platform is more rigid compared to the current model. Engineers conducted extensive platform testing, ultimately increasing the number of spot welds and adding laser welds in very specific locations. The track, wider by almost two inches, works in combination with a revised suspension design to assure a more solid stance and superior cornering performance.

The new suspension system is designed to help guide the 2013 GS through corners with precision. In the front, upper and lower control arms are made from aluminum and employ larger bushings. The rear subframe has been completely redesigned to accommodate an all-new multi-link rear suspension, using improved suspension geometry that retains tire cornering force and enhances rear control. With the stiffer platform and lighter components, the shocks can use lighter-viscosity oil, so they move easily and respond to small inputs more quickly.

The use of front and rear aluminum control arms helps reduce unsprung weight and results in significant improvements in agility, roll damping, ride comfort, body control and steering precision. Overall, the suspension is lighter and stronger, allowing it to react to driver input readily, and ride quietly without harshness. Ventilated disc brakes featuring four-piston aluminum front calipers are endowed with the latest electronic enhancements to help provide braking balance and control.

Customized Driving Experience
The new GS is powered by an advanced 3.5-liter V6, four cams, and four valves per cylinder with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). At 306 horsepower, it is one of the most powerful base engines in the segment, as well as the only one with both port and direct injection. It propels the GS from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds and at the same time, fuel economy has been improved.

Acceleration from 30 to 50 mph can take just 3.0 seconds, and improved engine sound characteristics complement the bolder, more energetic personality of the new GS. The six-speed sequential shift automatic transmission has paddle shifters and sport driving functions as standard equipment.

The transmission incorporates many features adopted from the Lexus IS F high-performance sedan - including faster shifts, earlier torque converter lockup and downshift throttle blips - to support four driving modes that can be operated by toggling the new Lexus Drive Mode selector. In addition to the Normal mode, the following settings let the driver customize the driving experience:

• ECO mode revises throttle mapping, seat heating, and climate control systems for better fuel economy. In ECO mode, meter lighting changes to blue.
• SPORT S mode revises throttle mapping and transmission shifting priorities to fully exploit the capabilities of the powertrain. In SPORT S mode, meter lighting changes to red.
• SPORT S+ mode (available on some models) engages handling enhancements via a sport setting of the adaptive variable suspension, steering system, and vehicle stability control (VSC) together with the powertrain enhancements of SPORT S mode.

An optional electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system is designed to enhance traction in a variety of driving conditions. The system can vary front-to-rear torque balance from 50/50 to as much as 30/70, depending on driving conditions, for exceptional control.

Innovative Lexus Design
The 2013 GS expresses a new generation of Lexus' design philosophy with its precisely
sculpted exterior and will lead the rest of the lineup in an entirely new direction. When designers shaped the GS they visualized the flow of air around it and, like the LFA supercar, maximized aerodynamic efficiency for class-leading coefficient of drag.

The GS fuses distinctive style with engineering functionality. Fins incorporated into the side of the tail lamps and the design of the trunk area all help direct air over and past the car. The rear bumper underbody area was designed for reduced wind resistance to help keep the car firmly planted on the ground. Finally, air inlets located on the outer edges of the lower grille serve as cooling ducts.

The signature spindle grille with its trapezoidal contours evolved from current Lexus styling and fully integrates into the aggressive front bumper allowing for efficient airflow. This distinctive Lexus design feature combined with the deep-set, high-tech headlamps and L-shaped LED daytime running lamps further express the vehicle's confident and dynamic character. The headlamps use a projector beam design, adding a strong, chiseled appearance and excellent illumination.

From the side, the GS projects the image of a spacious sport sedan with a road-hugging wider stance. The tapered lower rocker panel and the short front overhang give the vehicle a sense of motion. Width-enhancing front and rear wheel arches adds an athletic stance enhancing the vehicle's dynamic presence.

The rear bumper features a distinctive exhaust diffuser and centered aero fins to help control underbody airflow. Combined with the L-shaped LED tail lamps, a Lexus design cue, these rear bumper features lend a high-performance appearance. Overall, the new GS sheet metal represents a significant extension of the Lexus L-finesse philosophy that is the core of all Lexus product design.

The GS 350 will feature three colors that are new to the Lexus color palette: Riviera Red, Meteor Blue Metallic and Liquid Platinum. Vehicles in Riviera Red will benefit from glass flakes incorporated into the coating that adds a high level of brilliance to the paint. Lexus engineers developed a new advanced coating process for Liquid Platinum exteriors. The GS 350 will be the first Lexus to adopt this new coating technology. Vehicles with the Liquid Platinum exterior will appear more radiant as an additional metallic texture gives both strong shading and defined, sharp highlights. This metallic effect makes subtle and defined bodylines more noticeable and the surface appear finely polished.

Spacious Interior with Premium Upgrades
The GS provides more overall space for all occupants. With these changes, the new GS
offers comfortable space for front and rear passengers.

Upgraded accommodations start with the driver. The entire cabin was created around the driver and the driving experience. A horizontal-themed instrument panel emphasizes the spaciousness through its wide layout. A redesigned seat frame and changes to steering column architecture enable an improved driver seating position for increased comfort, better forward visibility and overall command of the road. Equal attention has been paid to maximizing space for rear passengers, adding headroom, legroom, knee room and improved foot space compared to the current generation GS.

Door openings have also been revised for easier ingress and egress. Trunk space has been increased by almost 25 percent, and trunk access is improved with a wider, deeper opening.

Painstaking attention to detail was applied to the GS cabin as well to create a balance of luxurious and technological amenities and emotional design. The new layout of the long, sculpted dash gives the driver and front passenger a sense of roominess through its clean center stack and new, large high-resolution center control display placed deep near the front windshield. Most of the comfort and convenience controls such as audio and climate were relocated to provide a cleaner and more sophisticated dash layout.

The interior includes a number of embedded premium upgrades as standard equipment. A new energy-saving auto climate control system called S-Flow uses the occupant-detection system to focus airflow only to the front area where passengers are actually seated, a first-in-class technology. A next-generation Remote Touch with one-push confirmation is standard on all models and enables smooth, intuitive operations control.

The Remote Touch allows the user to operate the climate, audio, phone controls, optional navigation system and more. The screen menus are selected with the controller, eliminating the need to reach out. Remote touch also reduces eye movement and helps users operate functions with reduced effort and distraction. A standard rear back-up camera helps add security and convenience.

The finely crafted cabin detail is complemented further by ambient lighting that unobtrusively welcomes and guides the user into the vehicle, providing a carefully designed experience. New white LED lights are sequentially lit to illuminate the areas around the doors, center console and footwells. A new analog clock with LED indicators, carved from an ingot, adds a unique touch, at once both modern and traditional.

Cabin materials include three types of wood specially chosen to highlight the unique flavors of the model variations. Meticulously detailed contrast stitching is used as a visual accent on the instrument panel, door trim, center console, shift knob and steering wheel to create a rich, tailored interior space.

Seamless Connectivity
Next-generation Lexus multimedia brings a host of standard entertainment and connectivity enhancements, including enhanced Bluetooth® capability with automatic phonebook download and streaming audio.

GS buyers will get DVD audio and video compatibility, MP3 sound enhancement, 5.1 Surround Sound, and a high-resolution eight-inch central control display centrally located high up in the instrument panel. An SMS text-to-speech feature allows the driver to be read text messages and send preset responses with a compatible smart phone. HD RadioTM with iTunes tagging and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio are standard. The Gracenote Media management system creates dynamic music playlists and a voice recognition solution recognizes nicknames for music artists and even some mispronunciations.

By adding the optional navigation system, GS owners can get an industry-first 12.3-inch, split-screen, high-resolution multi-media display. The split-screen ultra-large display enhances visibility through the use of advanced, high-definition graphics that are easy to read and easy to use. The 12.3-inch screen is large enough to support simultaneous, split-screen viewing of a large map display, plus audio, climate or other vehicle information.

GS buyers will also have access to next-generation Lexus Enform®, the system that leverages mobile phone technology to provide a new level of connectivity and information management. Local searches can be conducted through Bing, or use voice-enabled apps to make restaurant reservations through OpenTable, get movie tickets via MovieTickets.com or tap into internet radio, including Pandora® or iHeartRadio.

They will also appreciate the ability to check-in on Facebook, and search for restaurant reviews on Yelp. SiriusXM data services offer information on stocks, traffic, weather, sports and fuel prices. The system is updatable and upgradeable through over-the-air downloads, so new apps and content can be readily added.

For audiophiles who insist on the ultimate in audio performance, an 835-watt, 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system is available. The system provides 7.1 Surround Sound through 10 channels using a new class D Digital amplifier and luxury-first Green EdgeTM speakers that are lighter, more energy-efficient and have less distortion. The new system produces almost three times as many watts per channel over the previous generation.

Integrated Safety Systems
In addition to enhanced braking systems and an impact-absorbing body structure, the new GS offers significant advances in both passive and active safety systems as standard equipment.

There are a class-leading 10 airbags in the new GS, including a knee airbag for both front driver and passenger. Rear seat occupants have seat-mounted side airbags, and all four outboard occupants are equipped with side curtain airbags.

New Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) front seats increases the likelihood that occupants will be in optimum position at the moment of impact, enhancing the protective effect of the seatbelt system. Standard seatbelts with pretensioners with force limiters used for front and outboard rear seats further assist occupant protection.

Available options to help further enhance occupant safety include a pre-collision system, which uses the dynamic radar cruise control system to provide early warning of upcoming objects that might result in a collision. The system also uses a first-in-class infrared camera to monitor the driver's eyes to check on driver status. In the event that the driver does not appear to be looking forward when a collision appears imminent, the system will initiate the warning at an earlier threshold. If the driver still does not respond and make the appropriate maneuver, the system will initiate braking intervention up to two seconds prior to impact, helping to lessen the severity of the collision.

Other available safety systems include a Night Vision System that enhances driver visibility at night; Heads Up Display (HUD); a Blind Spot Monitor that helps detect vehicles in rear/side blind spots; and Lane Keep Assist (LKA) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW). GS is the first in its segment to offer LKA with active steering torque to provide a small amount to assist in maintaining course, while the LDW feature alerts the driver if the system detects that the vehicle is beginning to drift out of the lane.

"The new GS 350 combines luxury, outstanding driving dynamics and world-class technology features in a new and bold design," said Templin. "We expect this car to occupy a key position both at the core of the Lexus brand and at the heart of the mid-luxury sedan segment."

Infiniti JX Press Release:
Infiniti JX Concept Makes World Debut at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

Innovative 7-Passenger, 3-Row Luxury Crossover Concept Previews Latest Addition to Infiniti "Inspired Performance" Lineup, Set for Spring 2012 On Sale

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (Aug. 18, 2011) – The Infiniti JX Concept, a preview of an innovative new 7-passenger/3-row luxury crossover that joins the Infiniti lineup in spring 2012, made its world debut today at the Pebble Beach Concurs d'Elegance. The JX Concept was unveiled by Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura prior to its display throughout the weekend's activities at the famed Lodge at Pebble Beach.

"The JX Concept advances the Infiniti design language, sharing design cues of the Infiniti Essence concept, yet interprets those elements in ways suitable to the needs of a family luxury crossover," said Nakamura. "From the dramatic front grille and headlight design to the crescent-cut D-pillar and greenhouse shape, the JX Concept shines as a fresh, bold alternative to the many flavors of vanilla currently dominating the three-row luxury crossover segment."

Beyond its stunning exterior, the new Infiniti JX Concept is designed to excel in three areas where luxury crossover buyers put an emphasis – interior flexibility and roominess, safety, and innovative hospitality features.

"The three-row luxury crossover segment is one of the fastest growing among all luxury vehicle segments, providing a huge opportunity for Infiniti," explained Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. "And like every segment Infiniti enters, we plan to shake up the status quo – with a vehicle that is guaranteed to instantly become the new benchmark for style, hospitality, roominess, advanced telematics and safety technologies."
In the interior, for example, the production Infiniti JX will offer what is expected to be class-leading roominess, along with a 2nd row seat design that tilts and slides forward providing exceptionally easy 3rd row access.

"With the JX, you will even be able to leave a child seat latched to the 2nd row while getting in or out of the 3rd row – just one example of the vehicle's inspired flexibility and versatility," added Poore. "The 3rd row isn't the typical penalty box either, with adult-sized room for all occupants and five-and-a-half inches of 2nd row forward-back adjustability."

The Infiniti JX continues Infiniti's tradition of developing world's first technologies, offering the currently available Blind Spot Intervention and adding a new feature, Backup Collision Intervention. With this technology, when the transmission is in reverse, the JX will help the driver detect crossing objects behind the vehicle and, if necessary, the system will automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a collision.

The Infiniti JX will also offer technologies designed to make owners lives a bit easier and more efficient, such as a 14-speaker Bose® Studio Surround® sound system with Waveguide bass technology and an advanced Infiniti Connection Telematics system that can automatically synch the owner's calendar and provide navigation guidance to appointments. It will also feature the Infiniti Personal Assistant, Infiniti's new personal concierge service with 24-hour access to a live team of professional assistants. The Infiniti Personal Assistant benefit is now offered free-of-charge with every 2012 Infiniti vehicle purchase.

And, in keeping with Infiniti's "Inspired Performance," the Infiniti JX will offer a balance of driving exhilaration and fuel efficiency through a combination of a powerful V6 engine and all-wheel or front-wheel drive. The Infiniti JX will also be the first Infiniti to utilize a sport-tuned, but fuel-efficient continuously variable transmission. The CVT will mimic a step transmission when the Sport mode of the Infiniti drive selector is engaged. Additional information regarding the drivetrain and other systems will be provided at the debut of the production version of the all-new Infiniti JX at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2011.

"As a premium crossover with a real 3rd row – along with Infiniti levels of hospitality and driving pleasure, the new JX is another breakthrough design from the brand that has been breaking new ground for more than 20 years," Nakamura added. "We will continue to challenge conventional thinking."

In addition, in conjunction with the global reveal of the Infiniti JX, Infiniti is launching the JX Concept "Power of 7" Challenge on Facebook. The challenge invites fans to submit inspiring creations relating to seven Infiniti JX categories: Epicurean, Art & Fashion, Film, Interior Design, Music, Athletics and Technology & Science. The community will vote on the submissions, and winners in each category will receive a cash prize and compete to win trip to 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. More information, including official rules, is available at HYPERLINK "http://www.facebook.com/infiniti"www.facebook.com/infiniti.

Verdict: If arrived next year, do you think we can see those two coming in the Philippines?

Infiniti M Hybrid

2012 Infiniti M35h
*The Nissan Fuga Hybrid (HY51) is sold as the Infiniti M Hybrid in the United States

Infiniti's first full-fledged hybrid premium sedan, the Infiniti M35h, is not your typical hybrid premium sedan built for the green wealthy people who want to indulge in something extravagant while keeping their commitment to the environment. The Infiniti M35h targets the likes of the Lexus GS450h and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and by comparison, the Infiniti M35h is faster, more fuel tank capacity, more room, and more fuel efficient than these hybrid premium sedans offered.

At first glance, the Infiniti M35h is armed with the hybrid version of the VQ35HR engine, producing a standard power output of 303hp/6800rpm and the torque output of 264 lb·ft/4800 rpm. However, there's a catch; the exclusive Infiniti Direct Response System reaches the M35h's VQ35HR hybrid engine to a full potential, thanks to the 50kW electric motor, guaranteed to hear some sinister "ready to attack" sounds that no other hybrid sedans done it before and it can reach 6 seconds on the 0-60mph run, making a grand power output of over 360hp as advertised. It even comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission that has no torque converter, making it a smooth-shifter on the long and winding roads. Like most hybrid sedans in the world, the Infiniti M35h comes with the regenerative braking system that can recharges the Lithium-ion battery while going for a full brake. It can be essential with the electronic booster assist.

In comparison, the Infiniti M35h stacks up against the Lexus GS450h because the fuel economy of the M35h has 32MPG highway while the GS450h garners 25MPG. That's good news but the bad news is, the M35h is not worthy against the Americanized Lincoln MKZ Hybrid because the MKZ Hybrid garners 36 of those miles per gallon highway.

My Comment:

With the exclusive Infiniti Direct Response System armed and ready on the M35h's VQ35HR hybrid engine, it was surely enough to gain the power of a V8 engine while gaining a fuel economy of a four-cylinder engine. Surely a hybrid car with 360hp and 32 MPG highway is a sure fiery thing but the sinister M35h has a sinister "ready to attack" attitude to blow away the competition.

Nissan Fuga Y51 will be the Malaysian government officials' choice, replacing the Proton Perdana

2010 Nissan Fuga

Check out the article by Paul Tan:

According to that article, the Nissan Fuga Y51 (launched in 4th quarter, 2009, following with the Fuga Hybrid since 4th quarter, 2010) will be in Malaysia, only for use with the Malaysian politicians. It would replace the aging Proton Perdana (based on the Mitsubishi Eterna) and it will be equipped with the VQ25HR (2.5L V6) engine.

The Nissan Fuga, when it arrives in Malaysia soon, will be used only for Malaysian politicians. No word on private ownership yet, but I just pray to the Philippine automotive Gods that either NMPI or Universal Motors Corporation will bring the Nissan Fuga Y51 as the Infiniti M37, but in my product of fantasy, this will be used by Philippine politicians.

Fuga Hybrid vs. Crown Hybrid

Nissan's first hybrid luxury sedan, the Fuga Hybrid (known as the Infiniti M35 Hybrid)

Toyota's Crown Hybrid

Both are premium JDM VIP luxury hybrid sedans built for wealthy Japanese executives. Yes, these were VIP hybrids for the Japanese VIPs. I wonder which of these hybrid knights is my pick?

CASE ONE:
Based on the Nissan Fuga (Infiniti M) Y51, the Nissan Fuga Hybrid is the first of Nissan's kind and part of the Nissan Pure Drive range. What surprises me is the VQ35HR engine with the added electric motor. As a hybrid, the Nissan Fuga Hybrid has the best fuel economy in its class thanks to the fuel economy of 19.0km/L. It is fitted with a 7-speed Semi-Automatic Transmission. With that fuel economy, imagine how far can you go with the new Fuga Hybrid. In the interior side, the new Fuga Hybrid boasts exceptional hospitality and relaxation because of the forest aircon, BOSE Surround Sound System, and the optional VIP Package to up the ante on the brougham's comfort zone for the executives. A hybrid brougham I want to get my hands on it...

CASE TWO:
When the 13th generation Toyota Crown was launched in February 2008, this generation marks the debut of the Crown Hybrid variant. The Crown Hybrid was based on the 2007 Toyota Crown Hybrid Concept at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show and it was on sale since May 2008, following with the minor change at February 2010 (along with the Athlete and the Royal Saloon). Sadly, the Crown Hybrid's fuel efficiency of 15.8km/L was not good enough against the Fuga Hybrid. The interior is a bit fine for me but I personally prefer the inside of the Fuga Hybrid because its is far more luxurious than the Crown Hybrid. The only good point for the Crown Hybrid is the CVT.

As they said, the Nissan Fuga Hybrid is the most fuel efficient in its class. My big advantages for the Fuga Hybrid is the fuel economy, the comfort, the style, and the brougham spirit only executives can offer. The Crown Hybrid is a bit less of a luxury and the interior is a bit cheaper by the dozen. So I'll go with the Fuga Hybrid.

What is Nissan's Pure Drive range and how fuel-efficient are these "eco cars"?

When the fourth-generation Nissan March (built in Thailand) launched in Japan since July 2010, Nissan gave birth of the new range for eco-cars. This new range is called PURE DRIVE. Just what in the JDM world is Pure Drive?!

Pure Drive is Nissan's new range of fuel efficient cars, possessing qualities of a true eco car (a car that is fuel-efficient and eco-friendly) such as idling stop, clean diesel, and hybrid.

PURE DRIVE #1: Fourth-generation Nissan March K13

2011 Nissan March

The new, fourth-generation Nissan March (Micra in some markets), is destined to be a true eco-car in the JDM world, despite it was built from Thailand. The idling stop feature , new HR12DE engine, and XTRONIC CVT plays an important role to produce an outstanding fuel economy of 26.0km/L. For that, this is bound to be the first Pure Drive car equipped with idling stop. I can't wait for the new March to come to the Philippines as a competitor to the Suzuki Celerio.

PURE DRIVE #2: Nissan X-Trail Clean Diesel

2011 Nissan X-Trail 2.0GT

Much about the word Clean Diesel, the Nissan X-Trail Clean Diesel is equipped with the M9R engine that is turbocharged and diesel-fed but good for the environment. When the X-Trail Clean Diesel was launched in 2008, it offered in only one transmission, a 6-speed Manual, then in Summer 2010, Nissan added a 6-speed auto for the X-Trail Clean Diesel. The Nissan X-Trail 2.0GT Clean Diesel can go as much as 14.2 (6AT) to 15.2 (6MT). Hope that this will be a good addition to our lineup because this is diesel-fed and it can withstand the challenge led by diesel-fed SUVs

PURE DRIVE #3: Nissan Fuga Y51 Hybrid

2011 Nissan Fuga Hybrid

Nissan's first hybrid car that was now on sale in Japan and soon in other countries as the Infiniti M35 Hybrid. The Nissan Fuga Hybrid is equipped with the 3.5 V6 hybrid engine that has a fuel economy of 19.0km/L. Compare this fuel efficiency to the Toyota Crown Hybrid and the Nissan Fuga Hybrid wins. This is the true opulent eco car built for the environment-conscious and wealthy people.

PURE DRIVE # 4: New Nissan Serena C26

2011 Nissan Serena

Most JDM minivans are going to be upset because the new Serena C26 is equipped with the new MR20DD direct-injection engine combined with idling stop (found in the March K13) and XTRONIC CVT, providing an opulent fuel efficiency of 15.4km/L! Good enough to outperform the likes of the Noah, Voxy, StepWGN, or even the StepWGN Spada, unfortunately the new Premacy outperforms the new Nissan Serena C26 in the performance side. A very good eco van we wish to have it to the Philippines because this is even greater than the Yulon-built C24 Serena we had.

These are the cars of the Nissan Pure Drive range. In the future, Nissan will release more eco cars straight from the Pure Drive range and who knows eco cars are over the future.

Nissan Fuga Hybrid (HY51)

2011 Nissan Fuga Hybrid

Since 4th Quarter 2009, at the Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan unveiled the second-generation Fuga (known worldwide as the Infiniti M) to target the premium sedan segments covered by the Lexus LS and GS, Toyota Crown and Majesta, and European premium cars such as the BMW 5-Series, MB E-Class, and the Audi A6. Coming this 4th quarter of 2010, here comes the another side of the Nissan Fuga will show its opulent green identity, becoming the optimal target of other hybrid sedans. Welcome to the new Nissan Fuga Hybrid.

Part of the Nissan Pure Drive range, consisting of this, the new Thai-built March with idling stop, facelifted X-Trail Clean Diesel, and another one coming soon, this is Nissan's first hybrid car ever built to show its premium side of clean driving.

The Fuga Hybrid comes with the 3.5L V6 hybrid VQ engine that produces a power output of 306PS/6,400rpm and the torque output of 35.7kg-m/4,400rpm. With the hybrid engine armed and ready for this hybrid phantom, the fuel economy reaches to an astonishing 19.0km/L. That is 3.2km/L more than the Toyota Crown Hybrid, so it declares checkmate for Nissan's first premium hybrid sedan. The Fuga Hybrid comes in seven authentic exterior colors:

1. Crystal White Pearl

2. Eternal Snow White Titanium Metallic

3. Brilliant Silver Metallic

4. Blade Silver Metallic

5. Super Black

6. Garnet Black Pearl

7. Deep Bronze Titanium Pearl Metallic

My thoughts about the Fuga Hybrid:

Just to tell that the Fuga Hybrid is the first hybrid sedan from Nissan, and part of the Nissan Pure Drive range that delivers outstanding fuel economy and a clean living for the environment. To show this premium hybrid sedan's darkest side, it will take a few Japanese executives to try it out before leaving their Crown Hybrids behind the bars. It goes to show you that the survival of the fittest can also be applied in hybrid cars, and the Fuga Hybrid stands out against other premium hybrid sedans. It will arrive in Japan this 4th quarter and in other countries next year. I hope that NMPI or Universal Motors Corporation will bring the Infiniti brand, just so we can try this authentic jewel in the eyes of a Japanese luxury car enthusiast. This is surely worth 7,000,000 Pesos for this hybrid sedan.

Infiniti QX56 Full Model Change

2011 Infiniti QX

Infiniti's flagship utility vehicle, the QX56, gained a full model change, and now it was based on the Nissan Patrol Royale, which was launched in the Middle East since February 2010. By making it more aggressive than its Nissan Patrol Royale brother, the new Infiniti QX56 is completely armed with some extras, which are guaranteed to please the sovereign passengers who are looking for outdoor fun in the sun or something more of a politicians' delight.

2011 Infiniti QX interior

The front view is similar to the Infiniti M37/56 (known in Japan as the Nissan Fuga Y51), providing this premium SUV some tough characteristics inspired from a rhinoceros. While the exterior is sinister enough for its toughness, the interior is sincere enough to please them because of the dual 7-inch monitors mounted behind the front seats, the Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System that is standard for multiple conveniences, BOSE 2-channel, 13-speaker Premium Audio System for the best sound quality that feels like you're in an opera house and perforated semi-aniline leather seating.

Just like the Nissan Patrol Royale, the new Infiniti QX56 is equipped with the world's first Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) suspension system which uses technology from WRC cars for adaptive terrain capability that is far superior than the Toyota Land Cruiser 200's KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System). The All Mode 4x4 system with variable 4x4 Mode Select allows the new QX56 to convert from its 4WD mode to 2WD mode plus various settings that adapts through tough conditions such as gravel, sand, and snow. With this technology, the new QX56 can possibly be the "grand master" of all-terrain combat.

The key engine of the new QX56 is the all-new VK56DE engine mated with Infiniti's first VVEL DIG mechanism. This gasoline direct injection VVEL V8 engine is made for improved performance and less emissions, making it more fuel efficient than other V8 engines mounted on other SUVs. Anyway, the VK56DE has a power output of 400 hp/5,800 rpm, torque output of 413 lb-ft/4,000 rpm, and depending on the variant, it has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 20 miles per gallon highway. Unlike the Patrol Royale that has 5-speed Automatic Transmission, the additional 2 gears on the new QX56 with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) makes it a huge advantage.

My Comment:
The new Infiniti QX56 can be an expensive version of the Nissan Patrol Royale because of its rhino-like looks, premium conveniences, 5.6L V8 VVEL DIG engine, 7-speed auto, improved Around View Monitor, ALL MODE 4X4, world's first HBMC, and everything you might blow your pockets at. Not only the new Infiniti QX56 can be a proven weapon in the desert, gravel, and rocky roads, it can also be a luxurious limousine when you're travelling through the metropolis. Those dual monitors mounted behind the front seats can be an effective boredom-killing machine, great if you want to watch some movies while if you were stuck at the traffic in EDSA. With these features, could this be an alternative to our Nissan Patrol Royale? We can't tell...

The New Nissan Fuga Y51 (New Infiniti M)

Since August 2009, at the Pebble Beach Concours d'elegance, Nissan's Infiniti division unveiled the third generation Infiniti M (most likely in virtual form) that surprises car enthusiasts with the new design flow. The third-generation M hinted the world as the second-generation of the Cedric-Gloria successor, the Toyota Mark X's formidable foe: the Nissan Fuga.

The Fuga name was derived from a somewhat classical music, known as fugue, made by the legendary Johann Sebastian Bach. (Consider his fugal works by the way) Back then, in 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, it starts with the Fuga concept, and according from the sources, this could be the replacement of the aging Cedric-Gloria cars, hopeful that these two cars with the same face join themselves as one. In October 2004, the fugue of awakening has begun. The Fuga finally awakens from its concept form to production form to surpass against rivals such as the Honda Legend and the Toyota Mark X. (the Mark II's replacement)

The Fuga's fugal exterior design was based on the Infiniti Essence concept, with the sexier side view that others might think how would smart designers derived a body of a Haven Trooper to create a sexy side view, like no other premium sedans done in the first place. (Can’t tell how) On the front side, the Skyline-reminiscent headlamps came so clearly, it shines like the crescent moon. And with the bold new grille design that Nissan fans clearly state this would be a second-coming design that is truly original. On the rear view, the new design remains its Fuga quality with endless possibilities.

The Fuga provides a choice of two engines: a high-powered 3.7L V6 VQ VVEL engine that delivers over 300ps of power and the 2.5L V6 VQ engine provides 12.2km/L of fuel economy. Most car enthusiasts think the 3.7L variant is great enough but the 2.5L variant is a great start for beginners, thanks to Japan's new eco car tax break laws. Aside from having the 7-speed automatic transmission, the Fuga also has optional paddle shifters to have this premium sedan the thrill of a sports car. By judging the thrill of a sports car, there are different suspension types to choose from: the double piston shock absorbers, sports tuned suspension, and the comfort suspension. The Drive Mode Selector provides four modes the driver can chooses and sees how it fits the driving condition.

From its sexier yet feisty exterior, the new Fuga's interior made executives cannot describe how the interior balances the elements of the inside and the outside world. The texture of the interior has an exquisite balance between man and machine, providing the owner the magic touch made from the Fuga. From the texture, the new wood design was borrowed from the texture of the violin, giving the interior the classic touch that revolves around the new look of this premium sedan. On the new Fuga, the world's first forest air conditioner finally made possible by Nissan, providing the fresh air of the forest come inside to give owners the freshness of the outside world they need. From the "A Package" variant of the Fuga, there are features this variant gets are for instance: power ottoman seat and the Bose Surround Sound System with 16 speakers and 14-channel digital amplifier, while the "VIP" variant gets everything premium, for instance: rear seat entertainment system. Depending on the line-up, you can find which interior variation is best suited for you, especially for a seasoned Fuga owner.

There are numerous of helpful features that give the owner a pleasant driving, such as the safety shield that takes away the scratches from the car, intelligent pedal that was accompanied with the navigation system, intelligent cruise control, cornering stability assist, Lane Departure Prevention and Lane Departure Warning, and DSSS. (Driving Safety Support Systems) These features bring the owner come closer to safe and pleasant trip on the road.

THE VERDICT:
The all-new Nissan Fuga has a list of rivals such as the Honda Legend (Acura RL) and the Toyota Mark X. Other possible rivals include the Porsche Panamera, Toyota Crown and Crown Majesta, Hyundai Genesis & Equus, Lexus LS & GS, BMW 5-Series & 7-Series, and even the Mercedes-Benz E-Class & S-Class. (Never forget the upcoming Kia K7/Cadenza premium sedan)
The fugal design and the balance between simplicity and cunning strategy aligned them to create a premium masterpiece that is about to hit the airwaves all over the world. The new Fuga is coming at late 2009 following with the new hybrid variant coming next year. With the aspects of speed, comfort, and simplicity, all fused into one, the new generation Nissan Fuga will unleash the new aura you will never forget.

Nissan Skyline Crossover (Infiniti EX)

When the Nissan Skyline is known to other markets as the Infiniti G, it consists of just the sedan and the coupe (and also the convertible variant). Now that kind of Nissan Skyline you've expect here is a crossover variant that was here last year in the world market (as the Infiniti EX) and its coming to Japan as the substitute for the axed Nissan Stagea (the station wagon version of the Skyline). This crossover is known as the Skyline Crossover.

The fusion of the sports car and the sports utility vehicle is the result of creating the premium Japanese crossover that has the essence of luxury and comfort at the same time. As what you've expect, this crossover has the theme of hospitality and it has something that no other crossovers would share. It's the crossover utility vehicle that ends all crossover utility vehicles (and the future visits from other car dealers, except Nissan or Infiniti because they made this).

Just notice the exterior; it's like a whole new fashion statement of elegance and creativity like the famous painters in Japan. The front side is somewhat related to the Nissan Skyline (Infiniti G), then the side is quite a baby "Infiniti FX", and the rear side is quite the Murano-ism because the rear is somewhat mistaken for the Nissan Murano (probably).

While not so morally wrong, you've got to hand it to them; the Skyline Crossover offers the V6 3.7 litre VQ VVEL engine with the estimated power output of 330ps at the fuel economy of 9.1 to 9.7km/L and the available 7-speed automatic transmission as well. With the SUV features from different crossovers seem so bland, the Skyline Crossover tops them all with the essence of performance, quality, handling, style, and the finesse only a Japan-built crossover should offer. Let's not forget the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive that is quite a balancing act for the Skyline Crossover. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive provides handling control when driver is about to spin the wheels while driving, giving it a 50% of the power distributed to the front wheels to increase grip and handling at such rough conditions. (So that's how they call it a crossover because of the fusion between the sports car and the SUV at the same time!)

Is there too much information about the outside of this crossover? How about take a closer look at the interior, it's quite similar to the Infiniti FX, but it's quite the same as the Nissan Skyline (Infiniti G) for the namesake. To add fun of it, the Around View Monitor (found on the third generation Serena and the Nissan Elgrand) adds parking safety for the Skyline Crossover. It allows you to see the aerial view of your car while parking in reverse. Great when you're conscious about parking safety everywhere. For sound quality, the BOSE 11-speaker premium audio system is a top notch quality for music lovers everywhere. (Here's a little tip: Have your MP3 player connected to the USB port, select the music of your choice, and let the premium sound system creates a realistic effect from your music.) From the seating, the kimono-inspired perfectly crafted front seats add this crossover with the touch of class, while the rear seats can be foldable at all situations.

WHAT CAN I SAY?

Luxuriousness of the luxury car and the sportiness of the sports car, these elements will keep the Skyline Crossover sophisticated with the little charisma from the owners. Although the front seats were kimono styled, the designers for this car are taken too much Takumi-ism and the comfort is quite good as long as the businessman walks inside to this crossover and takes a large cup of coffee inside. For an added bonus, the Around View Monitor adds convenience for the Skyline Crossover as well. With these features, this is sure to be the grand crossover of all crossovers in the world.
