Doctor Who S09E04

Picking up where last week's episode left off, the fourth episode of the ninth series of Doctor Who, titled Before The Flood, sees the Doctor and his allies set foot to Cold War-era Scotland while Clara remains on the 22nd century underwater base to keep an eye on Cass and Lunn while encountering the unexpected. We might think that this episode turned out to be a suicide mission for The Doctor but while it maybe a suicidal attempt to get things right, he faced off against an alien warlord known as the Fisher King. It's a good thing the blast from the dam gave this alien a sinking feeling to finish it.

Just before the start of the episode, The Doctor gave the viewers a much irrelevant trivia we might be interested with involving Beethoven's 5th and getting The Doctor's rock 'n roll groove on. Anyway, it's still a rocking rush to see The Doctor fought off a powerful enemy from a distant past and saved the future, albeit a costly one.

If you're a fan of Gravity Falls who can understand the secret message on this title, it says "How to dress as Dipper or Mabel Pines".

Anyway, Dipper Pines and Mabel Pines, the so-called Mystery Twins who are here to solve the supernatural phenomena lurking around the town called Gravity Falls.

We all enjoyed watching that hit Disney animated series because with a blend of horror, comedy, drama, romance, adventure, and the inevitable plot twists that keeps the viewers guessing what's next, Gravity Falls is already turning to be the next Adventure Time for all the wrong barrels.

Yes, you can dress yourself as either Dipper or Mabel, so here are some useful bits of advice that will make you become one of the Mystery Twins.

As Dipper:

- Dipper's signature hat is a white and blue cap with a pine tree on it. It's hard getting the real thing so it might best to improvise it with your own creativity.

- For his top, Dipper wears a red shirt and a dark blue outdoor vest. Those are easy to find at the shops as long at they match Dipper's.

- Dipper's shorts can be somewhat grayish or blackish. I don't know what but I belive it can be grayish so feel free to find whatever shorts you can find as long as it matches Dipper's.

As Mabel:

Now this is the difficult bit because Mabel's outfit keeps changing per episode and so are her sweater designs. Apart from the sweaters, the color of her headband and her skirt also changes per episode.

I've gone with one of my favorites for you, ladies, to consider for your Mabel cosplay;

That said, you are free to replicate whatever sweater design Mabel pulled off every episode, as long as you got the corresponding headband and skirt that well-suited for the sweater design of choice.

And that's it! You're done. Becoming one of the Mystery Twins is one way of saying you are ready to investigate the world's strangest moments just like in the show. Whether if its world-threatening prophecies, people with abnormal looks, or other paranormal activities that lurk around everyday, like what the mystery journals told, you can be sure that your outfits are ready to take on whatever the supernatural throws at you, Gravity Falls-style!

Good luck and BEWARB!

- Yesterday, legendary Philippine singer Elizabeth Ramsey, died at the age of 83. It was confirmed by singer and her daughter Jaya via Facebook. - You may remember that in the recent Eat Bulaga kalyeserye, Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza put on a disguise alongside the Da Explorer sisters to avoid getting spotted by Yaya Dub's mom, Isadora. Looks like her disguise is not just limited to the recent kalyeserye antics because she went to a Lifehouse concert last night using the said disguise because she's not invited. What's even more surprising is that she's not the only one spotted at a concert. It's Showtime's Pastillas Girl Angelica Jane Yap was present as well.

- Speaking of Pastillas Girl, looks like ABS-CBN's variety show, It's Showtime, is in hot water right now over an accusation that they are pimping Angelica Jane Yap on the "Nasaan Ka, Mr. Pastillas?" segment. Women's rights group Gabriela called it in their complaint against the variety show "unfair and irresponsible, but also hurtful and offensive to women like Angelica".

Felix Manalo (2015 film)

The late Brother Felix Y. Manalo first preached the Iglesia ni Cristo in Manila with its first local congregation was established in Punta, Sta. Ana and registered with the Philippine government on the 27th of July, 1914. A year later, Brother Felix Manalo is named as the first Executive Minister of the Church. Now, the membership of the INC comprises of 110 nationalities, 104 ecclesiastical districts in the Philippines and a hundred more nations worldwide.

The folks from VIVA Films have created, for some unknown reasons, a biopic depicting the man who became Brother Felix Manalo, the forefather of one of the Philippines most influential religious organizations known as Iglesia Ni Cristo. Directed by Joel Lamangan, this biopic stars Dennis Trillo as the late Brother Felix Manalo as well as Bela Padilla, Gabby Concepcion, among many others. This film highlights the life and times of Felix Manalo from his childhood to how the INC was established.

Although this film promises moviegoers, especially those who are part of the controversial religious group that has been making the headlines up to now, to discover Felix Manalo like they've never knew him before, the storyline can be somewhat bitter and it feels like it doesn't make the cut as what the other biopic of an influential Filipino everyone knew in the history books, but this is still a film about Felix Manalo that you won't really find his life from the pages of history as they speak and even though this film has some flaws, this Felix Manalo movie is trying hard to give cinemagoers how his life unfolds into the man every INC followers know.

Judging by the way this film goes, there are some inescapable truth you may need to know about the Felix Manalo film because when this film was premiered at the Philippine Arena, it had set a new world record for the largest audience for a film premiere and largest audience for a film screening. Perhaps no wonder a film about the man who established the most influential religious organization in the world attracted so many people but is it their faith that influenced most people to watch that film? No one knows but this is a religious film that deserves to have a mark on Philippine cinema as well as on the history of the most influential Filipinos in history. Whether if you're INC or not, bear that in mind that this film is not made for propaganda purposes or for profit because what the INC spoke of is this film is made for everyone who want to learn more about the late Brother Felix Manalo and that's the end of it.

My rating: 3.1 out of 5.

Forza Motorsport 6: A Lambo Huracan on a Rainy Day Nurburgring

In my previous post, I've pitted both the Lamborghini Huracan and the McLaren 650S round the Top Gear Test Track and to my amazement, despite the power gap, the Huracan managed to beat the 650S by a second. Now, it's time to drive the Huracan once again to find out its hidden potential and to do that I went to Nurburgring on a rainy day. Yes. Rainy Day on a Nurburgring.

huracan

As I'm sure you know, you want me to take on the Nurburgring just to prove how good the Huracan was but because I can only record up to five minutes of hot laps, lapping the Nordschleife is very impossible to record on one go. In the meantime, I'd use the Grand Prix Circuit instead. Because it's raining outside, I'd expect this would be a wet lap and it's going to be slippery when wet. I know the Huracan comes with four-wheel drive but because it's a midship supercar, I might find doubts that it may slip up like how rear wheel drive cars behave on a wet track. Anyway, time to find out just how good this Huracan is on a wet lap at the Nurburgring Grand Prix Circuit.

As I tried the Huracan on a wet lap at the Nurburgring GP Circuit, I felt like I was very intimidated by the weather at first but for this car, it doesn't feel like it's the kind of car that accepts defeat with honor and dignity. It sees the rainy weather as a challenge and takes a piece of it. It felt like it can turn the tide of any race, depending on the weather, at the hands of a skilled driver. Even though this is still a usable car even when wet, it's still a Lambo and you can expect some thrills while riding it on a wet lap.

Yes. Even though this is a midship-4WD supercar, you can drive this one on a wet lap and there's absolutely nothing to worry about driving a hundred-thousand dollar Lambo on one of the most demanding racetracks on a rainy day. All it takes is some skill and determination to keep this car focused and balanced while handling on wet conditions.

Kimi no Kokoro wa Kagayaiteiru Kai?

Kimi no Kokoro wa Kagayaiteiru Kai?

Welcome everyone to Love Live! Sunshine!! The second generation of Love Live! School Idol Project where a brand new school idol unit picks up where the successful and now legendary μ's left off. Say hello to Aqours, an idol unit comprising of nine Uranohoshi High students, each with their hopes and dreams and how each other bond together as one to become the newest idol group everyone will love in the same way they loved μ's since the Love Live School Idol Project began five years ago.

The name Aqours is a portmanteau for the two words "Aqua" and "Ours" but amazingly, the name truly rhymes with "aqua" in it, matching the theme for this new generation of Love Live. It was also one of the suggested names for the new school idol group that won the idol-naming poll from a certain anime magazine months ago, with 4,644 votes garnered.

Now, let's meet the members that will soon to be your favorites;

  • Chika Takami (CV: Anju Inami) - The leader of Aqours and the youngest of the three sisters. She's a second year student and her family runs an inn. She's a fan of μ's.
  • Riko Sakurauchi (CV: Rikako Aida) - Formerly from Tokyo, she now resides to Uchiura. A second year student who loves to draw and likes to stay indoors.
  • Kanan Matsuura (CV: Nanaka Suwa) - A senior student who runs a diving shop with her grandmother on a nearby island.
  • Dia Kurosawa (CV: Arisa Komiya) - A senior student and president of Uranohoshi High's student council.
  • You Watanabe (CV: Shuka Saito) - A second year student and an excellent diver fit for a swim club.
  • Yoshiko Tsushima (CV: Aika Kobayashi) - A first year student who considered to be unlucky. She prefers to be called Yohanne instead of her real name. She dislikes mikan fruits
  • Hanamaru Kunikida (CV: Kanako Takatsuki) - A first year student and a daughter of a family of shrine keepers. Although she's a member of a local choir, she loves to read and gets dizzy easily.
  • Mari Ohara (CV: Aina Suzuki) - A half-Japanese senior student who is a daughter of an Italian-American father who had his hands full with the hotel businesses. She likes to do things at her own pace.
  • Ruby Kurosawa (CV: Ai Furihata) - A first year student and a good friend of Hanamaru. She maybe prone to crying but she's good at sewing.

Well, now you know them, it's time to get to know the first song of the newest generation of Love Livers. Their debut single, Kimi no Kokoro wa Kagayaiteiru Kai?, features a much aquatic theme for Aqours and it comes with not one, not two, but three songs which is a first for Aqours. It even comes with bonus tracks where the members of Aqours are introduced. Of course, keeping up with the Love Live tradition that has been from μ's for the past five years, there's a DVD or Blu-Ray added and inside, there's a music video of Aqours' first song for you to enjoy.

Welcome to the new generation of Love Live!
