Screengrab from DTM

In the first race, Kelvin Van Der Linde continues his fight for the championship title after placing first. Luca Stolz finished 2nd but an incident that happened during his pit stop slapped him with a 30-second penalty, dropping him to ninth place, making third placer Philip Ellis the second placer while Mike Rockenfeller became the third placer.

In the final race, meanwhile, former Formula 1 driver Alex Albon nailed his first DTM career win while Daniel Juncadella got his first DTM podium with a second-place finish and Marco Wittmann finished 3rd.

After all the action at the Nurburgring, Kelvin Van Der Linde is still in the lead with 129 points while Maximilian Gotz is in 2nd place with 96 points and Marco Wittmann's in third place with 94 points.

The action continues at the Red Bull Ring from September 3 to 5, 2021.

In the second race, meanwhile, DTM legend Marco Wittmann wins while Maximilian Gotz finished 2nd and Liam Lawson finished 3rd.

DTM 2021 - Lausitzring

DTM 2021 - Monza

This is no longer the DTM we are all familiar with because the 2021 season saw luxury coupe-based German touring cars of the past replaced by GT3-class racing machines ranging from the Audi R8, the Mercedes-AMG GT, BMW M6, even Italian ones such as the Lamborghini Huracan and the Ferrari 488. While DTM purists call it treason to its heritage, it's hard to accept the new DTM layout even if it features a diverse cast of drivers from across the globe, including former Formula 1 driver Alex Albon. There are female drivers added to the roster as well.

With mixed results bound, the new DTM era kicked off at Italy's Monza track for the two-part season opener that will decide who gets to draw the first blood of this new season.

Screengrab from DTM

In the first race, Liam Lawson of Red Bull AF Corse drew the first blood of the season after defeating the two Mercedes-AMG Team HRT drivers Vincent Abril and Maximilian Gotz on the race towards the finish line. In the last race of the season opener, meanwhile, it's big news for Kelvin Van Der Linde of Team ABT Sportsline as he defeated two DTM greats Nico Muller and Lucas Auer to win the final race in Monza.

Even with GT3-class cars and a diverse roster of drivers, is it still the DTM the fans are familiar with. You'd be the judge but in the meantime, the next event of the 2021 DTM season will be at Lausitzring from the 23rd to the 25th of July, 2021.

DTM 2020 FINALE

This is where everything ends as the DTM 2020 season returned to Hockenheimring for the season finale that will mark an end of an era for Audi and BMW as next season will focus more on privateers rather than factory-backed ones.

Before the final race weekend of the season, the DTM organizers announced a major overhaul for next season with DTM Trophy, DTM esports, and DTM Classic sub-series gaining some revisions as well and the introduction of the first-ever DTM Electric.

With future plans set, the DTM 2020 finale kicked off at Hockenheimring as the title fight between Rene Rast and Nico Muller delivered the biggest sendoff of the season.

Screengrab from DTM

The last two races became a sword-fencing competition for Nico Muller and Rene Rast, with the former won the first race and the latter won the second race. It was too close to call but with the total of 353 points, Rene Rast, the Audi driver, is crowned the 2020 DTM champion.

What a way to say goodbye to Audi as the top three drivers in the leaderboard are all Audi drivers with Rast named the champion, Muller in 2nd, and Robin Frijns in 3rd. Mike Rockenfeller, who finished the season in 4th place, is also an Audi driver. As BMW says goodbye to DTM after this season, their best driver of the season is fifth placer Timo Glock.

The era of manufacturer-backed teams is well and truly over but the DTM lives on for privateer teams to have their chance to shine for next season and with their future plans set, it looks like this motorsport franchise is here to stay until they called quits.

This concludes the 2020 DTM season. See you next season!

DTM 2020: Nurburgring Sprint

The 2020 season of the DTM continues at the Nurbugring Grand Prix circuit, only this time in the Sprint variant of the track and despite the different layout used in the same venue that was used in the last race, the drivers' battle for the title continues with dramatic results in hand.

Screengrab from DTM

Like the previous Nurburgring race, a limited number of fans were welcomed to witness the second Nurburgring event while adhering to "new normal" rules. This means that it's the only racing event in Europe to have fans in what was known to be the loudest race weekend of the year, which was dominated by the audience-less Le Mans endurance race.

Shockingly, long before the race, the man in charge of the DTM announced that it will be reshuffled into an independent professional GT-based race series as both Audi and BMW are set to bow out of the DTM after this season. Which means, the new DTM will no longer have factory-backed teams but instead the private teams will take on the roles.

Now onto the race; the first race saw two Audis delivered a 1-2 punch at the finish line with Robin Frijns emerged as the winner and Rene Rast finished second, while Marco Wittmann completes the podium with a third place finish. In the last race, a full Audi podium sweep is witnessed with Nico Muller wins, Frijns in 2nd and Rast in third.

The next venue of the DTM 2020 will be at Zolder on the 9th to 11th of October.

DTM 2020: Nurburgring GP

The DTM 2020 season continues at the Nurburgring GP Course as the drivers kickstart the autumn season with an intense doubleheader where every second matters in this track.

Screengrab from DTM

In the midst of the new normal, the Nurburgring allowed selected number of fans to witness the DTM action while complying to health and safety guidelines. With the fans present, the DTM action at the Nurburgring GP never felt so alive now.

The first race saw Nico Muller pinned down two German drivers, Rene Rast and Marco Wittmann, for the race to victory lane. In the last race, meanwhile, Robin Frijns scored his second DTM win with Rast finished 2nd and Mike Rockenfeller finished 3rd.

The next event continues at the Nurburgring, this time at the Sprint layout, on the 18th to 20th of September.

DTM 2020: Assen

The DTM 2020 season continues in Assen and this race is proven to be unpredictable from start to finish.

Screengrab from DTM

The Assen races of the DTM 2020 season flips the tables in favor of the winless drivers just to tell the bigshots that they can kiss their Assen goodbye, pun intended.

The first race showed just how kick-ass-en Robin Frijns is by claiming his first DTM win while Loic Duval finished 2nd and Nico Muller finished 3rd. In the second race, another kick-ass-en of the track in the midst of the wet condition goes to South African Sheldon Van Der Linde as he managed to clench his first DTM career win after successfully fended off Frijns and Nico Muller. Kick-ass-en indeed.

With Assen well and truly kicked, the next event of the 2020 DTM season will be at the Nurburgring Grand Prix Circuit on the 11th to 13th of September.

DTM 2020 - Lausitzring

Same track, different layout. The 2020 DTM season remains at Lausitzring for some more action in the midst of the "new normal" as this race sees a certain BMW driver put a stop to Audi's winning streak after one year at that venue.

Screengrab from DTM
The first race sees Audi driver Rene Rast nailed his second consecutive win of the season having managed to brave the crazy road conditions that sent them rethinking their tire strategies. Meanwhiel, Nico Muller finished in 2nd and Robin Frijns finished 3rd. A full Audi sweep in the first race. In the last race, however, BMW driver Lucas Auer ended the Audi winning streak after he and Timo Glock pulled a 1-2 finish. Frijns finished 3rd.

After Lausitzring, Nico Muller remains in 1st place with 133 while Rene Rast's 36 points behind Muller and Frijns in 3rd with 92 points.

DTM 2020 - Lausitzring Sprint

The "new normal" DTM 2020 season continues at Lausitzring Sprint for a two-race event and this event is full of surprises from start to finish as Nico Muller continues his impressive dominance for Audi even though the company's in its last breath for this season before its exit.

Screengrab from DTM

In the first part, Nico Muller continues to dominate the DTM headlines by winning his third race of the season, making him the first DTM driver in history to win the first three races in one season, beating the likes of Sheldon Van Der Linde, who made his first podium finish after placing 2nd, and Robin Frijns into it. In the second part, meanwhile, Rene Rast made a close shave win against Muller at the finish line. It's the closest DTM history in ages. Marco Wittmann, meanwhile, finished 3rd.

The DTM 2020 season continues at Lausitzring on the 20th to the 23rd of August.

DTM 2020 - Spa-Francorchamps

After several months of delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 DTM season has been kicked off in the midst of the "new normal". Although the race calendar has been cut short, we can expect some big stuff happening on the track as this season will be the last for the Audi RS5 DTM cars, including the one that propelled Rene Rast to last year's championship title.

Screengrab from DTM

The first venue of the 2020 DTM season, the new normal, kicked off at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps and even in the new normal, the drivers are keeping themselves busy in this two-race event where who will the draw the first blood for this season.

In the first race, Nico Muller wins while Jamie Green finishes in 2nd and Loic Duval completes the podium with the third place finish. In the second race, meanwhile, champion Rene Rast wins while Muller finished in second and Robin Frijns finished in third.

So, the first two races of the DTM 2020 season saw Nico Muller drawing the first blood but expect more to come in the "new normal" DTM 2020 season as the next event will take place at Lausitzring Sprint on the 13th to 15th of August, 2020.

DTM 2019 FINALE

Throughout the course of the season, we are introduced to an era of 2.0L turbocharged engines that powered most of the DTM competitors and apart from the new powertrains, Aston Martin joins the fray, only to be met with disastrous results for the drivers during the British carmaker's maiden voyage in the DTM. With Aston's disastrous beginnings comes Audi's comeback for the title as Rene Rast came, saw, and conquered almost every single DTM race of the season.

Now, the finale at Hockenheimring is worth remembering for the fans because in anticipation of the upcoming DTM x Super GT Dream Race at Fuji this November, several Super GT machines and drivers are joining the pack in the finale where Rast will make a mark as this season's winner.

Screengrab via DTM

In the first half of the season finale, Rast sealed his championship title after winning the race against the likes of Marco Wittmann and Mike Rockenfeller. In the final race of the season, meanwhile, Nico Mueller charges his way towards victory lane by fending off against Rockenfeller and Rast.

Congratulations, Rene Rast, for being the seven-time DTM champion!

And that concludes the DTM 2019 season. Expect next season to be even bigger than ever with the inclusion of Monza and then some.

See you next season!

The first race sees Rene Rast continuing his road for the title after fending off against the two BMW drivers Bruno Spengler and Marco Wittmann on the road towards Victory Lane. In the latter race, a full Audi podium sweep with Jamie Green, Robin Frijns, and Rast made a 1-2-3 finish. Audi's definitely on the role and so as Rast's title hopes.

DTM 2019 - Lausitzring

Summer's almost over in Europe and the DTM 2019 continues to heat things up at Lausitzring where this two-race event made history because while the first race is their 499th, the latter race at Lausitzring will mark the 500th race in DTM history. Such a milestone Europe's best motorsport series have gotten so far.

Screengrab via DTM

In what was known to be the 499th race in DTM history, with Rene Rast losing his lead in the leaderboards due to mechanical failures that pushed him out of the race, Nico Mueller managed to charge his way towards victory lane, edging out against the likes of Robin Frijns and Mike Rockenfeller. Now, in what was known to be the 500th race in DTM history, it's a comeback for Rene Rast as he turned his previous race misfortune into his reversal as he edged out his title rival Mueller for the win. Thrilling things did happen in the 500th race in DTM history, of course.

That really is the 500th race to remember for the DTM fans and here's to 500 more of these as this series keeps going on for more. Anyway, with Audi sealed its manufacturer win this season, the gap between Rast and Mueller have narrowed to just 20 points, 234 vs. 214.

Will Rene Rast keep on fighting to win the title or will Nico Mueller snag his hopes away? The next event will be at the Nurburgring on the 13th to the 15th of September, 2019.

DTM 2019 - Brands Hatch

Great Britain is facing a lot of uncertainties because of the imminent Brexit deadline this fall but that doesn't mean that the DTM will have one last blast at Britain's Brands Hatch before Brexit as the two-race weekend in the country due to leave the European Union this fall shows they can bring out the best of DTM to the British public before Brexit tears the British motorsport fans apart.

Screengrab: DTM

In the first race of the DTM Brands Hatch race, the last DTM Brands Hatch race before Brexit, sees Marco Wittmann winning the race while Rene Rast's in 2nd place and Nico Mueller's in 3rd place. In the second race, meanwhile, Rene Rast, whose lead in the leaderboard narrowed by Wittmann's win in the previous day, dominated Brands Hatch ahead of Nico Mueller and Robin Frijns.

The next DTM event will be at Lausitzring on the 23rd to the 25th of August.

DTM 2019 - Assen

The 2019 DTM season welcomes the newest battleground for the drivers, the TT Circuit Assen in Holland. Known for hosting the annual Dutch TT and Superbike series, the technical corners of Assen will put these DTM drivers to the test and that sounds like a challenge to them.

Screengrab via DTM

The two race event puts DTM drivers to the test on this brand new addition and with weather changes applied, extra concentration is required. On the first race, there's Marco Wittmann who managed to drove his way towards the victory lane in the first ever DTM Assen race despite the rainy weather. In the second race, meanwhile, sees some tyre-related drama for the drivers but in the end, Mike Rockenfeller snagged his first race victory after two years.

Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRsLig3SSGU&list=PLrjmhNF7Jz1yXo6zDazTHB-LiLT7IGKzy

After the action in Assen, Rene Rast still leads the leaderboard at 158 points, 22 points ahead of Nico Mueller, while Marco Wittmann's at 3rd with 118 points.

DTM 2019 - Norisring

Nuremberg is jam-packed with spectators and the DTM beasts lurking through the tracks as the folks are gathered at the Norisring for the next round of the 2019 DTM season and these drivers are pulling all of their stops to survive this track, whatever it takes.

Screengrab via DTM

In the first race of the event, despite his poor start, current title holder Rene Rast managed to claw his way back to the top to nick his come-from-behind win and his third win of the season. That's some miracle the Audi driver pulled one off. On the second race, the Canadian BMW driver, Bruno Spengler, ended his two-year drought with his fifth DTM career win, making him the DTM driver who scored the most wins in Nuremberg.

Highlights:

After the action at Nuremberg, Rast still leads the leaderboard with 127 points, 25 points ahead of Nico Muller, while Philipp Eng's in third with a point behind Muller.

Next time, the DTM takes on a brand new Assen venue on the 19th to the 21st of July.
