THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: PM Lee to meet Chinese Premier Li to discuss joint efforts to tackle fine dust

Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon arrived in China's southern island province of Hainan on Wednesday to attend the annual Boao Forum for Asia.

Lee will meet with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on the sidelines of the conference later in the evening to discuss ways to boost cooperation on the environment and economy.

Those include, joint efforts to tackle fine dust, starting with the use of artificial rain to clear the air pollution.

This comes after Lee, during his official visit to Mongolia on Tuesday, told reporters that each country in the region should work on reducing fine dust emissions.

Free Joseon, a group that's against the North Korean regime, declared that it was behind the intrusion into the North Korean embassy in Spain last week, and confirmed that certain information was shared with the FBI.

On its website on Tuesday, the secretive activist group, said that it was "invited" into the embassy and that this was not an attack, as opposed to what's been reported.

They also confirmed that certain information was shared with the FBI, but that their terms of confidentiality appear to have been broken as reports citing U.S. officials are pouring out.

They said such betrayals of trust only aid the North Korean regime.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Hong Chang and another suspect, but the North Korean Embassy hasn't pressed charges yet, or commented on the attack.

U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino said the U.S. government had nothing to do with the incident, and the FBI said it "enjoys a strong working relationship with their Spanish law enforcement partners."

South Korea's National Assembly is holding its last batch of confirmation hearings for President Moon Jae-in's cabinet picks.

SME minister nominee Park Young-sun will likely be questioned over allegations, such as late payments of tax, owning multiple homes as well as traffic law violations.

Interior minister nominee Chin Young faces allegations he made huge profits on land investments, while ICT minister nominee Cho Dong-ho will likely be grilled over suspicions of land speculation.

Park's hearing got off to a slow start as some opposition lawmakers complained that she'd refused to submit some documents they'd asked for.

The ruling party, however, said the hearings' purpose is not to dig excessively into the nominees' personal affairs but to verify their credentials and suitability for the job.

Members of the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation met in Seoul on Wednesday to discuss how South Korea's local cities and provinces can contribute to increasing cooperation with countries like Russia and Mongolia.

Citing its achievements so far, the committee emphasized the importance of meeting at this time when South Korea is facing uncertainties at home and abroad.

Representatives joined from different cities and provincesto present how each of them will boost their respective economic cooperation with countries north of the Korean peninsula.

THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: US envoy for North Korea visits Beijing

The US special envoy for North Korea is visiting Beijing to coordinate policies with China, the US embassy said Tuesday, a month after the failure of a denuclearisation summit.

Stephen Biegun, Washington’s North Korea envoy, is here to “continue US-China coordination on policies related to North Korea”, a US embassy spokesman told AFP, declining to share more details.

Biegun’s visit to the Chinese capital overlaps with the arrival of an unidentified high-ranking North Korean, who was greeted by Chinese government officials and Pyongyang’s envoy to China on Tuesday, reported South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

It was not clear whether the visits by the US and North Korean officials were related.

Biegun’s trip comes after US President Donald Trump abruptly cut short the February 27-28 summit in Vietnam with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un amid fundamental differences between the two sides over dismantling North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.

The summit, their second in under a year, broke up without even a joint statement, and each sought to blame the other’s intransigence for the deadlock.

Both sides pledged to continue talking, but no new meetings have been scheduled.

In mid-March, Biegun said Washington’s goal was the complete denuclearisation of North Korea by the end of Trump’s first term, and that it would not settle for incremental disarmament.

“We will not lift these sanctions until NK (North Korea) completes the process of denuclearisation,” he said.

But on Friday Trump abruptly announced the cancellation of new sanctions on North Korea imposed by the US treasury.

China has played diplomatic wingman to North Korea — even loaning Kim an Air China jet to travel to his landmark meeting with Trump in Singapore last year — as Beijing is intent on keeping Pyongyang within its sphere of influence.

The North acts as a buffer state, keeping the 28,500 US troops in South Korea far from China’s borders.

In January, Beijing hosted Kim for the fourth time prior to his Hanoi summit with Trump — something that has become somewhat of a ritual, with Kim briefing Chinese President Xi Jinping before and after his meetings with Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

NTT IndyCar Series 2019 - INDYCAR Classic

The dream of seeing an INDYCAR race in the prestigious Circuit of the Americas, located at Austin, Texas, has finally come true as the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series continues in the newest addition to their roster, the world-renowned COTA. This is the very racetrack where INDYCAR drivers will test their mettle to the most demanding and most prestigious track in the USA.

Seeing them driving at the venue of the United States Grand Prix is a dream come true but let's not get awed by it because it's time for the summary. For the 56th time, Will Power led the grid to the opening lap while Zach Veach faces a rough day when he got spun at the opener. Then a few laps later, a dogfight between Scott Dixon and Takuma Sato got ugly when they caught Jack Harvey in one of the slowest portions of the race tracks. Fast forward after Alexander Rossi's first pitstop and him got overtaken by rookie Colton Herta, newcomer Santino Ferrucci is having a rough day when he got caught at the curving. With 50 laps to go, Felix Rosenqvist and James Hinchcliffe got caught in a tangle, triggering the first caution of the race. Then, with 14 laps left, Will Power faced mechanical failures during pitstop.

The newcomer Colton Herta made the biggest upset in the first INDYCAR race at Circuit of the Americas as he was named the victor of the first ever race at COTA. Completing the podium are 2nd placer Josef Newgarden and 3rd placer Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Next race is at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL, for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on the 7th of April.

THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: S. Korean officials begin work without N. Koreans at Gaeseong liaison office

The two Koreas opened a joint liaison office at Gaeseong last September to keep the door of communication open 24-7.
But after only six months, Pyeongyang has pulled out its staff from the facility, leaving just South Korean officials there.

Despite the North's sudden pullout, the Unification Ministry's deputy chief of the liaison office expressed the South Korean government's will to keep hope alive.

Kim added North Korea cooperated well with the administrative process needed for South Korean officials to cross the border, which could be seen as an indication Pyeongyang isn't about to shut down the channel entirely.

But the weekly meetings between both sides' directors haven't been held since early March after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump failed to reach an agreement at the Hanoi summit in late February.

The UN Security Council's sanctions committee for North Korea has allowed a Christian organization to send more humanitarian goods to the North for six months.

Ten items including baby products, clean water, and medical supplies, will be sent to children's hospitals.

The Mennonite Central Committee in North America also plans to deliver medical supplies during a monitoring visit in May.

This is the third time that a U.S. organization has been given the green light to travel to the North... since U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, said late last year... that Washington will review its policies on travel bans for humanitarian reasons.

President Moon Jae-in, during his weekly meeting with his top secretaries, is expected to discuss the latest developments on North Korea issues as well as the earthquake in Pohang two years ago.

If the president does speak on Pyeongyang pulling its staff out of the inter-Korean liaison office last week -- it would be the first acknowledgement by the president himself on what could be seen as a setback in his denuclearization drive.

It could also be the first time that the president has commented on the revelations that the earthquake that shook the city of Pohang in 2017 was a man-made disaster, caused by a geothermal power plant.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

In the not too distant past, there was once an old game called Tenchu where players take control of the ninja assassins blending through feudal Japan with numerous weapons and ninja moves while letting players eliminate enemies with stealth and precision. It was one hell of a classic but now it's been long forgotten through the years so the folks from Activision contacted From Software to tell them "can you make a video game that is worthy of being a spiritual successor to the Tenchu games?"

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (PS4)
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (Xbox One)

And this is what they made, it's titled Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and this new action game made by the brilliant minds that brought you Dark Souls where players assume the role of a disgraced and disfigured shinobi who is bound to protect his new master in the middle of a bloody Sengoku era in Japan. Armed with a prosthetic arm and an arsenal of weapons at his disposal, The Wolf takes on numerous enemies including the Ashina Clan as he fights to reclaim his honor.

Because the main character has a prosthetic arm, the way he battles changes when equipped with numerous weapons and tools at his disposal and because different enemies need different strategies to defeat, it takes a master shinobi to master all weapons and tools to turn the table to his favor. Offense or defense, it's all about the strategy you need to overcome against approaching threats and obstacles getting your way. Apart from brutal close combats, there are times where stealth is the key, either killing them undetected or spying for useful information, stealth is the key factor for a shinobi.

As the game gets tougher, there are times that your weapons and tools can be upgraded after accumulating certain amount of items needed. You can even upgrade your prosthetic arm as well to gain new skills so before heading off for more difficult missions, it's best to upgrade whatever you had to make sure you still had the upper hand.

Having getting a taste of the ninja action Sekiro possess, it's hard to say whether if this game really is the spiritual successor to the Tenchu games that time forgot but on the positive note, it really is and with all of the brutal stealth action reminiscent of the Tenchu games, Sekiro truly lives up to its mantra and From Software did a really good job creating a game that is very challenging and very rewarding just like its past works. It truly is a balls-out action game worthy of such praise and those looking for some gory ninja action should look no further.

Us (movie)

Academy Award-winning director Jordan Peele's done it again with his latest masterpiece, a terrifying horror movie about a Black family going on vacation, only to be tracked down by a mysterious group who looked like themselves, only with one purpose; to kill the family down. This is a terrifying new horror movie the world's talking about and it's titled Us.

Us
Made as a follow-up to Get Out, which terrified most of the horror movie junkies worldwide, Us stars Lupita Nyong'o as Adelaide Wilson, Winston Duke as her husband Gabe, and the kids played by Shahidi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex. It's about a typical family taking on a quiet family vacation until it became a struggle for survival as they are being tailed by a doppleganger family.

This horror movie is unlike every other horror movies the world known because Us features plenty of gripping twists and turns no one saw it coming because no matter how many times you get away from this film just like the family, it will still come back and it won't stop until you are fully scared. Apart from its terrifying nature Us possesses, this horror film showcases the true nature of what Black celebrities can do and in the case of Lupita Nyong'o playing the lead character, this film really is a cinematic tour de force we can truly appreciate thanks to such diversity possess in this horror film.

With its gut-wrenching plot and celebrated diversity, Us really is one of the must-watch films in the Spring season and if you are truly brave enough to see a film where a family trying to escape from enemies looking like themselves, this is the film to watch.

My rating: 3.9 out of 5.
