Chevy Camaro made for the "Turbo" movie

Chevy Camaro Turbo concept

If you were on this year's Chicago Auto Show, chances are that you have spotted this strange-looking Camaro that was boosted to the max. This 700bhp Camaro was made for the upcoming animated movie made by Dreamworks, titled Turbo.

Turbo is a children's cartoon movie about a snail who has a dream of becoming a racecar driver. Really? A snail who wants to be a racing driver? That sounds weird but let's find out soon. This Camaro ZL1 boosted for the Turbo movie develops 700hp of power while no specific information was given. Some say, this will scare out of the small animals.

Forza Horizon: Are Camaros are better than Mustangs?

Road trip with the new ZL1

Although, it is difficult to say why would some muscle car enthusiasts agree that Camaros are better than Mustangs but to me, how come there are a handful of people thinking that the Chevy Camaro, the unsuccessful one in the muscle car era, is much better than the Ford Mustang, the successful one in the muscle car era.

Take this for example, the Chevrolet ZL1 Camaro which I am driving on Forza Horizon. This car maybe over a hundred horsepower less than the 2013 Shelby GT500, which is America's most powerful car ever made, but how come there are so many loyalists to this car rather than this? Wait a minute...

I once read an article from the ZL1's chief engineer about the advent of the 662HP 2013 GT500 and he said that even with a hundred horsepower increase for the Blue Ovals, the 2013 GT500 will still not match the technology and sophistication of the 2012 Camaro ZL1. Really? I don't think so because...horsepower is king in the world where "no replacement for displacement," are gone. 2013MY GT500 is king, Ford Motor Company is king. The end...

Oh, anyway, while the arguments will remain in every car enthusiasts' brains, the ZL1 tries to shake off its image thanks to its standard Magnetic Ride Control, standard Performance Traction Management, and standard track-capable equipment such as a rear-differential cooler, brake cooling ducts, and an engine and transmission cooler.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible vs. 2013 Shelby GT500 Convertible

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

This is the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible, which on this spec costs 59,545 US Dollars...

2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible

...and this is the new Mustang GT500 Convertible, which in all intentional purposes cost 59,200 US Dollars.

For those who love some speed, power, and a lot of grunt, the GT500 is a better bet because this is now hailed as America's Most Powerful Production Car or better yet, the world's most powerful V8 car, beating out the former V8 king, the Corvette ZR1. On this Convertible version, you'll get the same experiences from the coupe version but with the roof down to enjoy the open air. The GT500 is America's new speed king, meaning that on the straights, the GT500 rules but unlike the GT500 because it relies on such prehistoric suspension even though it was tweaked by SVT, the Camaro ZL1 is much more track-focused thanks to its standard Magnetic Ride Control, standard Performance Traction Management, and standard track-capable equipment such as a rear-differential cooler, brake cooling ducts, and an engine and transmission cooler.

If they were softdrinks, they'll be Coke or Pepsi. If they were girls, they'll be Medaka or Rias....

There's more with these two cars; they're both Americans, they're both muscles, and they're both have roofs made of cloth rather than metal. If you put these two on a drag race, rest assured that thanks to its supercharged 5.8-liter V8 aluminum-block engine produces 662 horsepower and 631 lb.-ft. of torque, the GT500 trounces the ZL1 and its all-aluminum 580HP 6.2L supercharged engine. Even if you switch drivers and do the race again, the results remain the same. It's like Bumblebee being fragged by Eleanor.

Truth be told, the GT500 Convertible is quicker than the ZL1 convertible on a straight line but when placed on racetracks, the results are highly different. Thanks to its SVT-tuned suspension and an additional Track Package that costs them more, the handling feels much more dynamic than the old model. So dynamic, you may found out that this muscle's highly challenging if you're not paying attention. It takes a lot of skill and time to master the GT500's dynamic handling and if you do, you'll find it even more rewarding.

On the ZL1 though, it's still a "Dynamic and Dangerous" muscle car but because of its sophisticated computer wizardry or probably thanks to its standard Magnetic Ride Control or Performance Traction Management, the ZL1 tries to tame its dynamism a little bit further. Despite the ZL1's power output less than the GT500's, I can brake later than the GT500, I can turn harder than the GT500, and that's it. The ZL1's a track-focused muscle car with some added dynamism on it. Let's remember, the coupe version of the ZL1 lapped the Nurburgring at 7:41.27, quicker than the Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SV or even the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

On the subject of muscle car convertibles though, thanks to some strengthening needs, both of these cars are heavier than their hardtop coupe equivalents. A trivia though that with no roof, it all ends up with the engine on the front connected to its steering and suspension goodies by just a floor, just like two volumes of encyclopedias and a piece of paper. It's too wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff if you know what I mean.

2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible

The 2013 GT500 Convertible though, I believe that this is much better than the old GT500 Convertible. I'm just saying because there are so many stuff to do better than this includes...late night television, working at a fast-food restaurant, or go on a strike with your officemates. Stuff like that. Even though with major improvements, the convertible GT500 is a lot heavier than the hardtop equivalents and it spoils a lot.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

The hardtop ZL1 is one of the best Chevrolets I've experienced a few months ago but with the convertible ZL1, this is even better. With no roof, you can clearly hear the sound of the 6.2L supercharged engine even better. It sounds like there was a dirty brawl between Nina Williams and Miki Hoshii. That sounds better than this but with such noise, it's hard to notice it and you can't even feel the ZL1 convertible's extra weight. On the race track, both are good but for everyday use, I think the ZL1 is the better bet because on bumpy roads, the ZL1's suspension counterattacks the vibration more than the GT500's.

For a real treat on those convertible muscle cars, get a girl who spend her money on hair rebonding and do some experimenting. Unless your girl had used Rejoice shampoo, your muscle car convertible may end up turning her into a mohawk. Worse, you'll arrive in a black eye...

And that concludes my impressions to the ZL1 and GT500 cabrios. Naming a winner on these two is not that all fun and games because sadly though...well, sorry Mr. JCR Clarkson Esq. for saying your lines...THEY BOTH LOSE.

Perfecting the ZL1 on FM4

Barely Street Legal

Here it is. It's called the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and unlike any other Camaros I've ever driven on the game, it looks different than the standard Camaro and it has the same supercharged 6.2L engine that I'd expect on the Corvette ZR1 but this produces about 580HP of power and 754Nm of torque. It even has the Magnetic Ride Control suspension that I'd expect on the Corvette, Performance Traction Management, Brembo brakes, and loads of extras that the standard Camaro doesn't have. Tell you what, this is the kind of Camaro we like because it maybe the evil twin of Bumblebee but with all that Corvette ZR1 know-how in the body of the Camaro made the ZL1 barely street legal and track-ready muscle car. I'd reckon that it will take on the world's finest in its A-class performance index. Let's find out with a quarter mile drag race between the ZL1 and the finest selection of sportscars from around the world...

The ZL1 got what it deserve because not only it trounced the world's A-class cars on the game but also it humiliates it. The V8-powered Audi R8 may have to think twice about facing against the ZL1. Anyway, if you think that's amazing, hear this; the ZL1 lapped round the Nurburgring in 7:41.27, making it faster than the Porsche 911 Turbo S, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

Now, when the engineers from Chevrolet asked about the ZL1's Nurburgring progress, they even told that they even playing Forza to analyze the Nordschleife's layout, using the virtual as a preparation before lapping the ZL1 round world's most dreadful racetrack of all time that is the Nurburgring. After spending several tests at the Green Hell, what we observed that this known to be the most advanced Camaro ever made. I mean hey, the Chevrolet engineers did mentioned Forza during the testing process but why?

Doesn't matter though that when you compare the ZL1 to its bigger brother, the Corvette ZR1, you'll never realize that how many lessons did this Camaro inherit from the Vette. It's like a noob trying to learn the basics from the vet before setting off to an online deathmatch. It's about as bonkers as....Donna Noble and it's as wild as a wild stallion being chased by a exploding star, kinda scary indeed. He he he.....

ZL1 tries to relax...

There is another thing about this ZL1 because this car is way too dynamic to drive even though it has Magnetic Ride Control. Even though this comes with this cool suspension system, you have to be gentle with it, be kind to it, be nice with it, and don't respond to such brutal actions but even with such suggestions, you'll still end up challenged to regain its grip because like most American muscle cars, the dynamic driving feel makes it a challenging feat. If you're not careful, this car won't get round corners. This was made to be quicker on straight lines and that's it.

Dynamic and dangerous

If you live in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, South Africa, India, Pakistan, and other countries where right-hand drive cars are allowed, sad to say that don't expect this car to come because there is no right-hand drive muscle cars allowed, well HSV or FPV were Australia's muscles. Anyway, you can't have a muscle car if you live in  Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, South Africa, India, Pakistan, or others. Don't be an idiot because we do mean it...No right-hand-drive American muscle cars and if that showed up, then you've smuggled it. Period.

Welcome Back: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS

Bumblebee meets Top Gear!

How did they made this cut-price
Camaro ZL1 on a budget?

The 5th generation Chevrolet Camaro is more than just a muscle car that competes against the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger, this is more of a pop culture ever since it started out in life as Autobot Bumblebee from the Transformers movies. Richard Hammond reviewed the Chevrolet Camaro alongside the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. Thanks to The Stig, it lapped the Top Gear Test Track in 1:27.9. Need to say more?

Even though this Camaro has gained fame for being Bumblebee, I still have a feeling that this is the kind of modern car that looks and handles like a classic car. This was been featured at the beginning of Jeremy Clarkson's 2010 DVD titled "Clarkson: The Italian Job", while Clarkson's checking around the twists and turns of Lydden Hill Race Circuit, where he will participate at a classic car race with his Ford Escort Mexico. While he twists and turns around the Lydden Hill with the Camaro, even with help, he turns out that he wasn't fit enough for his race. Even Clarkson's epic workout in Italy wouldn't help and he decided to use the Imola Circuit as his basis. Well, we're not talking about that, don't we? We're talking about the 5th generation Camaro being back on Forza Motorsport 4.

It's a good thing most players are working on their black rally stripes on their Camaro or trying to replicate something that this Camaro had done since its tenure in 2009. There was Autobot Bumblebee from the Transformers movies, the Synergy Green Camaro, the COPO, Indy 500 Pace Car, or if you're hands is full, a ZL1 on a budget while waiting for Forza 4 to bring the real Camaro ZL1 soon.

It doesn't matter how will you tune or decorate Bumblebee the way you want but what matters most is that this 5th generation Camaro is a pop culture icon you would love to keep it on your garage. I'm picturing something that if you parked this Camaro on the kids' playground, kids would notice that this is their Autobot hero, Bumblebee, from the Transformers movies. Heh, it pays to being a fan of the Transformers movies but it strongly pays to being a Chevrolet Aficionado.

Spotlight: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS (February King of the Track Edition)

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS (February King of the Track Edition)

Joy of joys, my 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS KOTT edition handcrafted by Turn 10 staff is now ready for collection. I got this unicorn car as a commemoration for beating Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's lap time at Laguna Seca using the Dodge Challenger SRT8 last month. While I'm still waiting when will my Audi R18 TDi prize car arrive on my inbox, I'm glad to say I got another unicorn car in my Forza 4 garage.

Well said, thank you very much Turn 10 for the prize.

I even manage to drive it round the Top Gear Test Track for keeps...

Double Oops! Chevrolet ZL1 and Porsche 991 911's first crash!

Two cars, the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the all new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera (991), suffered their very first crash in recorded history!

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 totaled!

Although, the new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 hasn't been on sale yet, it suffered it's very first crash and oh my, it was a Top Gear related one. It was wrecked by Top Gear USA Consulting Producer, Aaron Gold, who is a motoring journalist and editor for About.com Cars, which sounds to be odd. He really blamed the wet condition for this incident and he also said that he's fine and the damage is a bit cosmetic.

2012 Porsche 911 Carrera (991) wrecked!

It is possibly the first 2012 Porsche 991 wreckage in history and it was occurred at Holland where the owner of the 991 had an unfortunate accident upon his encounter with a Volvo V50.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Think of this machine as Bumblebee's evil twin because the all new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is positioned as the hardcore version of the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, a modern muscle car that was adorned by many thanks to its popularity as Transformers' Bumblebee. This car is a one-track mind, you can use it on the road or you can use it on the track and this ZL1 promises to be quite a thriller for petrolheads around North America.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is powered by a Supercharged LSA 6.2L engine that produces about 580bhp of power and 556lb-ft of torque. What's more, it can be mated in two transmission types such as the 6-speed Hydra-Matic 6L90 Automatic Transmission and the Tremec 6-speed manual transmission with a revised short-throw shifter. The Hydra-Matic 6L90 Automatic Transmission comes with a TAPshift mode that reduces delay time and aggressive gear changes, making it smooth and silky as a pair of boxers. The 6-speed MT on the ZL1 comes with a revised short-throw shifter that provides smooth transfer on the engine's power and torque. Okay, when it comes to 0-60m time and flatout, the Camaro ZL1 6AT can go for about 3.9 seconds and 184mph while the Camaro ZL1 6MT can go for about 4.0 seconds and 180mph. By results, it seems that the TAPshift technology on the Hydra-Matic 6L90 transmission means that it can do better than the manual variant but it doesn't matter because it lapped the Nurburgring in 7:41.27, that's quicker than the Lamborghini Murcielago SV! What's the secret of the ZL1's success?

The ZL1's suspension comes with the Magnetic Ride Control, the same feature you've encountered from the Corvette and Australia's Holden HSV range, allowing drivers to change the suspension settings; Tour, Sport and Track, providing magnetorheological fluid for damping levels adjusted up to 1,000 times per second. What provides the handling is the Performance Traction Management that takes advantage of the MRC, Launch Control, Traction Control, and Active Handling systems. It was made for lower inertia and friction, creating a direct steering feel and great response. Also, it comes with a Brembo Brake System that provides stopping power that can get yourself out from the tights.

It may look like Bumblebee but this is the bee's evil twin because of its Mohawk hood air extractor, large lower grille openings, and lower splitter, providing aerodynamics for the ZL1. The interior looks the same as the original model but the steering wheel is derived from the Chevrolet Cruze but it has the words ZL1 on it. It even comes served with red stitching provide contrast on the once dark interior but I like that. Red and black is just a menacing combo on the inside. To enjoy the best in music and information, an available SiriusXM Satellite Radio comes served on the ZL1 and the all new Boston Acoustics Premium Nine-Speaker Sound System gives you a top quality audio experience. Imagine if The Stig listens to something nonsense while driving the ZL1 round the Top Gear Test Track...

Seven colors are available for the ZL1 such as Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, Black, Victory Red, Rally Yellow, Inferno Orange Metallic, and Ashen Gray Metallic.

My comment:
I was getting a bit more interested on the ZL1 because it lapped the Nurburgring faster than the Lamborghini Murcielago SV but on such stats, it is hopeless to kick the bumper of the 2013 Shelby GT500. Who cares? This is the kind of Camaro that will leave you completely bonkers and this is somewhat the younger brother of the hardcore Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. With prices start at around $54,995 (or in Top Gear math, about 4.3 million Philippine Pesos), the Camaro ZL1 provides you with the 6.2L supercharged engine, Magnetic Ride Control, 6-speed manual, 20-inch rims, and that's it. This ZL1 is the perfect Camaro royalty for the enthusiasts.

ZL1 Concerns

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

2013 Shelby GT500

With the introduction of the 2013MY Ford Mustang range and with the 2013MY Shelby GT500's power output reached the 650HP mark, it seems that the upcoming, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, on sale next year, has gotten some concerns, stating that this 580HP muscle car is now the victim and already got its butt kicked by the 2013MY Shelby GT500 because of the power output and the weight. Well, as for the concerns, Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer behind the Camaro ZL1 said that Camaro-Mustang arch rivalry are getting over the border since the Camaro returned in 2009. Yes, the days of "no replacement for displacement" is gone and the Camaro ZL1's not good enough for the drag race. He said that the upcoming ZL1 is promised to be a track-ready vehicle and he had to thank the Mustang fans because a car like the Chevrolet Camaro encouraged the Ford Mustang to throw everything they got.

Press Release:

Camaro Nation:

As you know, the blogs lit up with the announcement of the new 650-horsepower Mustang GT500, and I wanted to give you my perspective on the latest challenge from Dearborn.

The Mustang has been playing catch up since the moment the fifth-gen Camaro arrived in 2009. Since then, Camaro has been the best-selling sports car in America, indicating that consumers know which car offers the best performance, style and safety.

It is no coincidence that Mustang has introduced three 100-horsepower increases to keep pace with Camaro: First their V-6 was bumped to 305; then their V-8 went to 412, and now the GT500.

Even with the 100-hp increase, the 2013 GT500 will still not match the technology and sophistication of the 2012 Camaro ZL1.

The days of "no replacement for displacement," are over, and it's not enough to be fast in a straight line. With the Camaro ZL1, we set out to deliver integrated performance, and be equally good at acceleration, braking, grip, and turning. As you will soon see, that's why the Camaro ZL1 will set the performance benchmark for the segment.

Our approach was to make every Camaro ZL1 fully track-capable, from the factory. As we announced today, the ZL1 Coupe will start at $54,995 with standard Magnetic Ride Control, standard Performance Traction Management, and standard track-capable equipment such as a rear-differential cooler, brake cooling ducts, and an engine and transmission cooler.

None of our customers will have to buy extra options – or modify their ZL1 – for track-day usage. That is not the case for the current GT500, or their new car.

For Mustang fans, you're welcome. Clearly the Camaro has encouraged Ford to throw everything they can at us.

For Camaro fans, trust me, we are always listening to your feedback, and working hard to keep the Camaro in the lead.

Al O.

The Best Chevy of all time - 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

1969 Chevrolet Camaro

A few moments ago, General Motors held some kind of a Chevrolet (for Korean car enthusiasts: 쉐보레) popularity poll to see which Chevrolet from different decades stands out in commemoration of Chevrolet's 100th anniversary.

One Chevrolet stood out the crowd and the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro (1969년형 쉐보레 카마로) won the popularity poll, besting out the other 15 Chevrolet models from various decades.

Results:
1. 1969 Camaro (25,058 votes) - Best Chevy of All Time
2. 1970 Chevelle SS (18,449 votes)
3. 1953 Corvette (13,297 votes)
4. 1957 Bel Air (13,151 votes)
5. 1963 Corvette Sting Ray (10,597 votes)
6. 2009 Corvette ZR1 (10,188 votes)
7. 1948 Pickup (9,242 votes)
8. 1936 Suburban (6,459 votes)
9. 2010 Camaro (4,861 votes)
10. 2011 Volt (3,140 votes)
11. 1962 Impala (2,597 votes)
12. 1964 Malibu (2,135 votes)
13. 1989 Pickup (1,822 votes)
14. 1969 K Blazer (1,541 votes)
15. 1932 Deluxe Sport Roadster (1,072 votes)
16. 1912 Classic Six (759 votes)

PRESS RELEASE:
DETROIT – Nearly 125,000 Chevrolet fans have spoken, naming the 1969 Camaro the "Best Chevy of All Time."

As part of Chevrolet's Centennial celebration, fans were asked to vote for their favorite vehicle from Chevrolet's 100-year history. During the four-round, elimination bracket, the 1969 Camaro garnered 25,058 of the 124,368 votes cast, edging out the 1970 Chevelle SS in the final round.

Tom Peters, Chevrolet Design director, believes the '69 Camaro is not only one of the best vehicles in Chevrolet's history but one of the best vehicles ever. He is a little biased, however, having owned the same 1969 Camaro for nearly 20 years.

"I can vividly remember seeing one for the first time as a kid," Peters said. "The intent of the Camaro was instantly understood, even to a 14-year old like me, because it possessed a very powerful personality and an elegant, simple design. The Camaro was so cool because it offered this great style, high performance, and yet was attainable for someone just getting out of school.

"Today, the '69 Camaro has become one of the best examples of timeless design in the industry," Peters said. "Like the very best designs, the Camaro is much more than just a machine because it evokes powerful emotions in people of all ages. That's why we looked to the '69 for inspiration when designing the fifth-generation Camaro, and why the '69 Camaro is an example of the timeless vehicles Chevrolet will strive to deliver for the next 100 years."

This goes to show, it doesn't matter which Chevrolet, new and old, you prefer but what matters is, you're with the Bowtie that stands out the crowd.

Quick rewind - Genesis Coupe vs. Camaro at a Top Gear Philippines issue

Camaro vs. Genesis Coupe

I'm sure most of you read the full comparison between the 5th-generation Camaro and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe at a Top Gear Philippines issue last year.

In case you want to see it again, here:

In my understanding, despite the Camaro being more expensive than the Genesis Coupe, it packs more performance than the Genesis Coupe.

GM Korea Chevrolet Camaro

2011 GM Korea Chevrolet Camaro

*The 5th-generation Chevrolet Camaro is sold as the GM Korea Chevrolet Camaro in South Korea

After the 5th generation Camaro making a grand comeback in North America in the Spring of 2009, then later arrived in some countries including the Philippines, everyone's favorite Autobot, Bumblebee, is landed for shooting and this time, it's not for some Transformers movie (Dark of the Moon coming soon!), but Bumblebee's ready for his new challenge as a Korean celebrity and how will the GM Korea Chevrolet Camaro (쉐보레 카마로) stack up on Korean dramas and movies.

The Camaro is GM Korea's third out of the planned eight Chevrolet models according to GM Korea CEO, Mike Arcamone, after the successful transition from GM Daewoo Auto and Technology into GM Korea Company. The first two were the "Active Life Vehicle" Orlando MPV and the "Fun Riding" Aveo (coming soon in North America as the Sonic) 5-door.

2011 GM Korea Chevrolet Camaro

Although the Korean-spec Camaro was completely a CBU (Completely Built Unit) from North America, nothing's different from the Korean Camaro to the American Camaro except from the rear. The Korean Camaro has different tail lamps, making it slightly different to the American Camaro.

2011 GM Korea Chevrolet Camaro interior

Despite the different rear view of the Korean Camaro, the interior of the Korean Camaro remains the same, well for the speedometer set on the KM/H basis, which is a commoner to the Korean cars because the unit KM/H was used.

While the American Camaro has a host of automatic transmission, manual transmission, V6 and V8 engines, the Korean Camaro is different because the only offer from GM Korea's Chevrolet Camaro is the 3.6L V6 24-Valve DOHC engine that produces 312PS/6400rpm of power output and 9.1km/L of fuel economy. The 6-speed AT is the only transmission available for the Korean Camaro, which can be an unpleasant drawback for Korean fans.

The GM Korea Camaro comes with four introductory colors, which are Yellow, Red, Black, and Silver. That's less than the American-spec Camaro.

My Comment:
Despite offered less than the American Camaro, the Korean-spec Chevy Camaro from GM Korea Company is much more of a worthy competitor against the Korean FR Sports Coupe, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Well, don't ask me if which of these two will prevail because an article from Top Gear Philippines will explain. A minor drawback for the GM Korea Camaro is the pricing because the 47,000,000 Korean Won pricing sounds pricey than the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 380 GT-P's 33,480,000 Korean Won pricing. Despite pricing, the Korean Camaro has more power than the Genesis Coupe 380 GT-P because the Camaro gets 312PS while the Genesis Coupe only has 303PS. This leave those two a choice between the Mafias and the Triads.

Already reached its stardom as Transformers' Bumblebee, Ryan Agoncillo experienced it thanks for his role for Chevrolet to the Philippines, and now what will Bumblebee do on his new challenge in the land of Korean dramas and K-POP? Time will tell...

Bumblebee's Chinese name will be Ke Mai Luo? (WHAT?!)

Chevrolet Camaro SS '10

What? General Motors decided to bring the fifth-generation Camaro (famous for being Bumblebee in the two Transformers movie and coming back on Transformers: Dark of the Moon coming this 3rd quarter 2011) to the People's Republic of China under a weird Chinese name; Ke Mai Luo (科迈罗).

Personally I think Ke Mai Luo is what Camaro is in Simplified Chinese but honestly, we don't what it is but GM claims it is a very "sonorous Chinese name". Most of them would Google translate "Ke Mai Luo" but nothing worked.

Anyway, this isn't the first time Bumblebee hits Asia. The Philippines, Japan, and South Korea (via GM Korea) were the Asian countries to get Bumblebee. The only offering is the 3.6L V6 engine and comes with a 6-speed auto or a 6-speed manual.

Let's see if Bumblebee makes a successful China debut under his new name Ke Mai Luo...

How Bumblebee got his groove in GT5

Since the fifth-generation Camaro arrived in 2009, most Chevrolet enthusiasts took advantage of its newly found popularity, thanks for being the Autobot Bumblebee in two Transformers movies. With that added popularity, looks like Bumblebee's joining the ranks as one of the Premium Tier cars in Gran Turismo 5.

Bumblebee blitzes through Tsukuba

Bumblebee's midnight run

From the engine startup noise, the performance, the FR layout, the cockpit design, everything how I like the 5th-Gen Camaro on GT5 is just brilliant. It seems that Bumblebee's getting a hang of it on his new challenge as the GT5 Premium Tier car. On my gameplay, I got three Camaro SS '10 models. The first that I bought, I tricked it out with some Racing Modification (some Premium Tier cars can perform that upgrade), the second one I painted it with something "light green" to make it more similar to the real life Camaro wearing Synergy Green, and the third one, well, I bought it in Bumblebee color: Rally Yellow Black Stripe.

Race-ready Camaro for racing needs

What's this? Synergy Green?!

Bumblebee in Kyoto

A fully-tuned Camaro has a power output of 651 or 652 HP, weight of 1323kg, and 583 Performance Points. (Results may vary by your personal preference)

Bumblebee's damoobs

Fancy looking, huh?

Its been an honor taking a joyride with Bumblebee on Gran Turismo 5. I'm impressed to sew how it responds and how it behaves. I guess some of the GT5 addicts listed the Camaro SS '10 model as one of their "Favorites" because of its Hollywood popularity of this vehicle.

Chevy runs deep
I love to have fun playing with Bumblebee from Tsukuba, Monza, Madrid, Suzuka, all the way through Nurburgring on GT5. It's a good thing I love this modern muscle!

Camaro TV Commercials...

In time before Super Bowl XLV, General Motors' Chevrolet brand unveiled two commercials; one is that you can't mess with an Autobot Bumblebee, and the second that what if a female driver is in the Camaro.

See what I mean?

The ad from the top resembles more like a dealer ad, when a mascot smack the Camaro with a fake hammer, the Camaro turned into a Bumblebee (as we know it) and caused trouble. Never mess with Bumblebee, I mean, a Chevy!

The second has some commentary, it imagines what will the Camaro commercial will look like; driving on the desert, a woman drives a Camaro, on the city streets, evading the hays, car chases, and ended parking on the school. Now that's imagination!

Fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

When the Chevrolet Camaro returned in the North American market for 2009 as a 2010 model, we believed that Bumblebee is more iconic than Eleanor thanks to Camaro sales higher than the Ford Mustang. Thanks to the Camaro's sales reached to the higher point, General Motors is now ready to give Bumblebee a haircut and call it the Camaro Convertible. The new Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is Bumblebee's new hot haircut, which means this is the soft-top version of the hit American muscle car.

Upon its launch, customers are ready to place orders on the new Camaro Convertible, with initial delivery starts at Spring 2011, the same season that Bumblebee's new haircut will hit showrooms soon. Despite Bumblebee's new soft-top haircut, Bumblebee can still experience the same goodness from its coupe counterpart.

The new Camaro Convertible is offered with two engine types; a 3.6L 312-hp V6 engine and the legendary 6.2L 426-hp V8 engine. Most variants are offered with a Six-Speed Manual Transmission but an optional Six-Speed Automatic Transmission with TAPshift controls is available for those who are not hungry over manual transmissions but whatever, most Bumblebee fans would go over the six-speed manual variant for sure.

Other main features include Four-Piston Brembo Brakes, StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System with Traction Control, Tire Pressure Monitor, and OnStar for reliable service offered throughout North America and it's free for six months. If you got bored over the normal Camaro look, don't worry, an RS Appearance Package made optional for those looking for style.

My thoughts about the Camaro Convertible:
With Bumblebee's new soft-top haircut, the new Chevrolet Camaro Convertible has the same Camaro goodness now in a soft-top convertible. This car is now available for pre-orders and to be delivered in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2011. I just hope that The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (the official Chevrolet distributor from the Philippines) will bring the Camaro Convertible soon and if it does, what would Ryan Agoncillo think? If our favorite celebrity (since Ryan Agoncillo's the brand ambassador of Chevrolet in the Philippines) gets behind the wheel of the new Camaro Convertible, I am sure his hair will blown from the open air goodness of the Camaro Convertible.

All new Chevrolet Camaro

After 6 years of absence, the return of the American sports car, the Chevy Camaro, is finally back from the dead! Since its return this year as a 2010 model, the Camaro is now mightier, fiercer, faster, deadlier, and harrier than the previous four generations that marked the true history of this legendary Chevy at all times (despite being rivalled by the late Pontiac Firebird).

How the Camaro did become during its grand comeback? Sure, it’s now an FR car and the results can be greater than racing a Sea Harrier in the airport terminal, but that’s just the beginning. As a muscle car, just like the Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, even its Chevy brother, the Corvette (note to everyone that muscle cars tend to do the quickest acceleration at the expense of handling), the new Camaro handles everything like a monster machine with its wide array of engine choices and available transmissions to offer. It’s your choice: a 3.6 litre GM LLT V6 engine that blasts the maximum power of 304hp and the ultimate 6.2 litre GM LS3 V8 (for manual) or GM L99 V8 (for auto) that releases more than 400 horses, giving it more power, and more blazing thunder ever blasts in this Chevy.

Features for this raging American monster includes four-wheel suspension system, power steering, brakes, StabiliTrak electronic stability/traction control system, HID headlamps and more. These features brings the driver unleashed their beast inside of them, giving themselves the new term “Fast & Furious”!

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS:

Do you remember the Transformers movie? Bumblebee was one wicked awesome Chevy Camaro, and you can have him too! (Remember, this one does not turn himself into an Autobot!) Have him, and he’ll thank you for it, giving yourselves the greatest adventure of your lives!

As General Motors faced a financial threat to themselves, will the return of the Camaro unlock the truth to end their financial troubles? On the other hand, could there be flaws in this pony car? Once General Motors answered their questions, my wish is to get their prices slashed to attract plenty of customers, especially this car. It is their last hope, their last destiny, their last “Tarot card” waiting to unleash its magical power to end their worries finally.
