Things we learned from the big Sonic 25th anniversary...


Sonic the Hedgehog has sped through the pages of video game history for 25 years now in the form of numerous installments from games, TV shows, and a strewth of merchandising rights to name a few. At this year's San Diego Comic Con, fans have celebrated Sonic's 25th anniversary with some new and exciting announcements in store so what did we learn something from this honorable celebration to Sega's beloved icon?

First up, the folks from Sega announced a new 2017 Sonic game coming on the PlayStation4, XBOX One, and a new Nintendo gaming console due holiday 2017. Here's a teaser clip that sums the evolution of the franchise.



Also, the Sonic Mania game will be coming on the PS4, XBOX One, and PC this spring 2017, packed with new zones and remixed classic levels, and players can play as either Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles.



Then, the classic Sonic will be joining the Sonic Dash app game as well as the brand new Green Hill zone for some added nostalgia. How's that for childhood memories?



For those who are playing LEGO DIMENSIONS awesomely, prepare to be awesomely amazed as Sonic will be arriving in this game this fall, adding to the roster of LEGO Dimensions characters to collect and play in-game.



With all those announcements pouring in in the name of Sonic's 25th year, looks like Sega sure knows how to keep one of the most iconic franchise in history fresh and recharged for more endeavors and they want to keep this franchise speed up for many years to come.

- President Rodrigo Duterte's Maguindanao arrival was markedly more of a family reunion with soldiers and the ruling Mangudadatu clan in the province than a traditional presidential sortie. Officers and enlisted personnel of the Army's 6th Infantry Division gave the president a rousing applause when he praised them for their peace-building programs, complementing the government's peace overture with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, during a session in Camp Siongco in Datu Odin town.

- As the Democratic National Convention draws near, presumptive Democratic presidentiable Hillary Clinton has named Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate in the US presidential elections.

- Authorities said the 18-year-old German-Iranian gunman behind Friday's Munich attack that killed 9 people was carrying over 300 bullets. The shooting spree took place near a shopping mall in the northwestern part of the city. Police told reporters that 8 of the 9 were killed were between 14 to 20 years of age. The say the gun man appears to have acted alone. He was born in the city and has no terrorist connections were found in his home but articles of past incidents that indiscriminately targeted civilians were found.

- Spanish actor Andreas Munoz is currently in the Philippines to promote the Filipino-produced historical biopic titled Ignacio De Loyola. Directed by Paolo Dy, the film features an all-Spanish cast which includes Javier Godino, Isabel Garcia Lorca, Pepe Ocio, and Julio Perillan. It was produced by the Jesuit Communication Foundation, and co-presented by the Jesuit Conference of Asia PAcific and One Meralco Foundation. Muoz plays as the titular role of St.Ignacio De Loyola, a Spanish knight who later established the Jesuits.

- The BBC announced a TV adaptation of the legendary Les Miserables novel.

A butt-kicking AlDub we saw today...


The search for Lola Nidora over the past few days has been a week full of tension in the Eat Bulaga Kalyeserye segment ever since she got kidnapped last weekend and as the search deepens, we saw a butt-kicking Lola Tinidora, Alden, and Maine kicking kidnappers' butts and then later, Tinidora got abducted in the process.

Now, with time running out, AlDub has finally reached the hideout where the lolas are held captive and then start kicking bad guys' butts until they got reunited. Just then, a gunshot occured and who got hit by the bullet? The lolas? Kidnappers? We never know who! So keep watching Eat Bulaga every weekdays for more Kalyeserye antics!

- If former president Fidel V. Ramos' turns down President Duterte's offer to negotiate with China following the tribunal ruling over the South China Sea, there's a possibility that former Interior Secretary Rafael Alunan II could become special envoy to China.

- Meanwhile, Foreign Affair secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. is set to bring up the South China Sea issues in the upcoming ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting this weekend.

- In the final day of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, with Donald Trump accepted the title as the Republican Presidential nominee, he still continues his backlash against presumptive Democratic presidentiable Hillary Clinton and for a real kicker, he strongly opposes automatic protections for NATO member countries.

- With the Democratic National Convention due next week, the camp of presumptive Democratic presidentiable Hillary Clinton strikes back against Trump's acceptance speech, saying this is just another reminder that he's unfit to be the next US president.

- Police in Brazil have detained 10 people and are searching for two others on suspicion of plotting to carry out a terror attack during the Rio Olympics. The members had allegedly declared allegiance to the Islamic State militants, mulling on purchasing guns in Paraguay, and praised the recent Nice attacks. Brazilian media have quoted a government official as saying that about 100 people with suspected terrorist links are being watched on the border with Paraguay and Argentina.

- Some more Pokemon GO news around the world. Just as when Japan finally got their hands on Pokemon GO, Syrians are making use of the game's popularity to spread message to the harsh conditions in the country, calling for measures to prevent more children from being victimized. Meanwhile in Guatemala, an 18-year-old boy was killed while playing the app game. Police said the teenager and another 17-year-old boy were shot in Chiquimula about 100km east of the capital Guatemala City on Monday. A witness reportedly told police that a man fired about five shots at the boy and police suspect the man got angry after mistakenly thinking that the teenagers were taking pictures of him.

- The Morgan EV3 reaches production with a limited special run of 19 units in collaboration with Selfridges.



- In case you missed the latest Eat Bulaga kalyeserye, as the search for Lola Nidora continues, Tinidora, Alden, Maine, and the gang are interrogating one of the kidnappers on where in the world is Nidora. Later, a phone call told them she's hidden at some van near a certain location and upon finding it, they got caught in a brawl against the kidnappers until Tinidora finally found Nidora. However, Tinidora got kidnapped! What happens next? Tune in next time and find out!

- Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo calls for end to extrajudicial killings, warned yesterday of what she described as the growing culture of fear in the country. Robredo made the appeal after five persons were reported to have been killed in Malabon by motorcycle-riding armed men while another man suspected of being a drug pusher was killed in Quezon City in what the victim's sister said was a case of mistake identity.

- Senator Koko Pimentel, presumptive Senate president, expects President Rodrigo Duterte to push the government to federalism in his first state of the nation address this coming Monday. Pimentel said he is also hoping for Duterte to make income tax reform a priority.

- Two days after the Supreme Court ordered her release, former president and Paranaque representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is still detained. The Supreme Court explained the release order would not be immediately implemented, stressing administrative procedures must be followed.

- In the penultimate third day of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, while Indiana Governor Mike Pence accepted his vice presidential nomination, Senator Ted Cruz made headlines about not endorsing Donald Trump and urge people to "vote by their conscience".

- Following the failed coup attempt, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that a three-month state of emergency in Turkey will be implemented. Erdogan said the measure is needed to remove the threat and pledged to rid the cause of the plot from the military.

- French lawmakers have voted to extend the nation's state of emergency rule for six months, following last week's Nice attack that killed 130 people. The lower and upper houses of France's National Assembly approved the extension on Wednesday.

- Legendary Pictures acquired rights for a live-action Pokemon film with filming commencing next year. It will be heavily inspired from the Detective Pikachu 3DS game that was launched digitally since the first quarter of this year, which explains a lot.

- The 20th anniversary birthday present from Good Smile Company for Cardcaptor Sakura has been uncovered. Two different versions of the special Good Smile Company Cardcaptor Sakura 20th anniversary figure. The base is now available to order starting at 12,963 Yen plus tax and deliveries start this June while the range-topper Stars Bless You version is now open for booking for 23,148 Yen plus tax and deliveries star this June. A must have for Cardcaptor Sakura fans (except for myself).
