RUSH - A Ron Howard film

RUSH

If Raikkonen of the present day is a F1 bad boy notable of saying rude words on TV, then his level is no match to 1970's James Hunt, who is the original bad boy of the Formula One history. James Simon Wallis Hunt is one of Britain's finest F1 racers of the past decade when he became the 1976 World Champion against all odds. Disqualified after his win at Spain and Brands Hatch and then Niki Lauda's flaming crash that caused the end of F1 days at the Nurburgring Nordschleife for good.

RUSH, a Ron Howard film, centers on a true-to-life story of one of Formula One's bad boys of the past in a very dramatic kind of way. This movie discovers James Hunt like you never seen before, giving you an edge-of-your-seat thrills as viewers dig deeper through James Hunt's career right until the fiery crash that nearly killed Niki Lauda at the Nurburgring.

Chris Hemsworth, while taking a break from wielding the hammer of the gods before November's Thor: The Dark World, is the perfect man to play the role of James Hunt even though his drinking and womanising were legendary in the James Hunt story. Daniel Bruhl, on the other hand, gets to play as the very prolific Niki Lauda, one of the most notable F1 racers of the 70's and James Hunt's fierce rival.

First impressions may not be quite as redeeming as the others but as the film progresses further and further until the fiery crash, RUSH is becoming as tense as the storyline itself. Although the suspense is a bit moderate, the thrills offered is getting more and more convincing and yes, Ron Howard sure knows how to make a true-to-life story more powerful and more compelling than an pantomime drama. It really grips the viewers with such emotion, the flavor, the power, and yes really, the perfection only this movie can pull on.

Although there is suppose to have room for improvement, I have to say that petrolheads are more than welcome to watch RUSH because we want to know James Hunt in a totally different level despite the crude thought of seeing Thor trading his hammer of the gods for a Formula One car and some track overalls.

Sometimes disappointing but it's still worth it to watch such of the finest masterpieces of 2013. Who wouldn't want to watch such a fine thing?

Honda previews 5th generation Odyssey

2014 Honda Odyssey
Breaking news from Honda because the Japanese carmaker showcased the all new fifth-generation Odyssey that is due to be on sale on Japan at this November 2013.

For the first time in Odyssey history, the all new fifth-generation Odyssey now features dual sliding doors and as for the dimensions, the new Odyssey is now bigger than its predecessor and it's now matches Toyota Alphard and Nissan Elgrand territory because of its 4830x1800x1695mm dimension (4830x1820x1685mm for the top-of-the-line Absolute model). With such sizing, the new fifth-generation Odyssey not only replaces the previous RB3 model but also the Elysion, which is known to be the last of the V6 Hondas. With the Elysion discontinued, it's the end of the V6-powered Hondas as we know it...for now.

The new model retains the 2.4L engine mated with a CVT gearbox but reports said that the top-of-the-line Absolute model will have a fuel economy of 14.0km/L on JC08 mode standards, that's more than the Alphard and the Elgrand had!

The all-new fifth-generation Odyssey will be on sale in Japan this November.

Top gear USA S04E04

TGUSA S04E04

America's biggest cars from the last century were in the focus from that episode of TGUSA Season 4 and here in Tennessee, the boys are challenging which of America's biggest cars is the best. Rutledge goes for the blinged-up Chevrolet Caprice Classic while Adam opts for the Buick Electra and Tanner goes for the Lincoln Continental Mark IV.

The first challenge involves speed test and with 83mph, Adam and the Electra won the first challenge.

Meanwhile, the boys put their cars' suspension to the test as they cross the railroads and back without making a mess out of their lunch. With Adam forfeited because it might damage the car, and Rut making a mess in his "donk" car and his shorts, guess it's Tanner's...but anyway, with Rut and the donk left, the two guys are off to Nashville for the finale and the winner gets to ride the new Corvette Stingray.

Amazingly, Rut's back to the group and the donk in his Impala's gone and replaced with the small wheels. However, he's not quitting yet because later, he put a boat in the back of his Impala for comical reasons and yes, Adam took Rut's idea and his Electra's armed to the teeth with a grand piano on the roof complete with a pianist! Such stupidity from these two made Tanner send themselves somewhere that what makes the true meaning of a "land barge" and for that...he enlisted The Stig!

Thanks to The Stig, Tanner Foust will be the key person to power test the brand new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray.

C7 Corvette Stingray in TGUSA

A great new car deserves a tough challenge and for that, Tanner's heading to Detroit to see if the C7 Corvette is better of with our without traction control. Red goes TCS off while Blue goes TCS on. Don't forget, the C7 Corvette has a Performance Traction Management which GM claims that it's a well advanced Traction Control which lets you have fun without crashing yourself out. It's a C7 with TCS off vs. a C7 with TCS on.

In the end, looks like the one with TCS OFF won against the one with the TCS ON, only just though. Still impressive to compare the new Corvette Stingray's capabilities.

2012 Lotus Exige R-GT

Three decades after the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus won the World Rally Championship, Lotus steps back to the world of rallying courtesy of the rally-spec version of the V6-powered Lotus Exige S. Called the R-GT, this rally-spec Exige toned down its 3.5L V6 engine to 299bhp of power output, less than the normal Exige S V6. To meet the minimum weight regulations, the R-GT weighs about 1200kg. Lotus spend their workdays at the FIA GT category of the WRC 2012 season in Monte Carlo, Tour de Corse, and San Remo, testing out the capabilities of the Exige R-GT.

2010 Dodge Viper ACR-X

With the Dodge Viper ended its production in 2010 and due to return in 2012, Chrysler launched the race-spec version of the hardcore Dodge Viper ACR, known as the ACR-X. Although, the V10 engine that powers it is now 40HP more than the ACR, it's a stripped-out track-only snake which weighs over three tons. Legend has it that it lapped the Nurburgring in 7:03.058, 9 seconds faster than the normal ACR.

1970 Ford Torino Cobra

The Torino, on its 1970 model year, is five inches longer and two inches wider than its predecessor and those dimensional changes have to make due to the 429-cid engine which comes with 10.5:1 compression ratio and 360HP of power output.  The Cobra version is a much deadlier beast even though it saw 10HP increase to the 429 engine as well as a 11.3:1 compression ratio. The Jet Ram-Air version still has the same update as the Torino Cobra but it features an optional shaker hood.
