Tested by the Performance Points regulation

Ford GT40 Race Car in Monza

Since the "special" World Classic Car Series was here on the Seasonal Events section that lasts from 3/2/2011 19:00 EST to 3/16/2011 19:00 EST, I've checked it out for a while and unlike the past Seasonal Events that requires a right car with the right drivetrain but no tuning restrictions, I've been tested by the Performance Points regulation.

When I checked the Entry Requirements, not only I have to use cars from 1969 or earlier, the PP required is 550 or below. So how can I get a fast car under 550 Performance Points? My car of choice was the 1969 Ford GT40 Race Car, one of the most expensive Standard Tier cars on this game that you can get from either purchasing it at a very high price or win it in a B-Spec Endurance race. In default, this vintage racer has a Performance Points of 570, power output of 482HP, and weighs 998kg.

The problem was I cannot enter this race without the needed regulations so what I do was using the handy "Power Limiter" in the car's tuning section. I dropped the GT40 Race Car's power output to just 400 HP, giving me 547 Performance Points! With the dropped power met the PP regulations, I entered this race and I won all five races from Cape Ring, Laguna Seca, Monza, Tokyo, to the developer-generated Eifel Kart track.

My lesson was to find a car that is somewhat near 550, then use some power limiter to sacrifice power to decrease PP and the required PP should allow you to enter those strict races.

I'm sure most online players applied those strict regulations during online races.

Escudo Pikes Peak Version is a rare find at the GT5 Used Car dealership!

Escudo Dirt Trial Car in Monza

Back when I was kid, and playing Gran Turismo 2 on my PSX, I tried to win more and more races just so I can get this one-of-a-kind rally car from Suzuki, the Escudo Pikes Peak Version. Every GT fanatics love the Escudo Pikes Peak Version because of the over-the-1000HP power output.

At Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec on PS2, the Escudo Pikes Peak Version is dethroned by the Formula Gran Turismo race car and the reason is because of the Formula GT's lightweight capability, making it a more agile, faster race car that can achieve better lap times that the Escudo Pikes Peak Version can't. The Formula GT can be used only on tarmac while the Escudo is made not just on tarmac, but on dirt because this is a rally car we all loved.

Trying to keep up with its reputation...

On Gran Turismo 4, the Escudo Pikes Peak Version, now renamed as Dirt Trial Car, can be obtained as a prize car. Well, I forgot what race what that but anyway, you know what it is. And now, in Gran Turismo 5, the former King of Gran Turismo cars is here to stay at the used car dealership and it's not easy buying that car because I think the pricing goes to a 1.4 million credit mark and the required A-Spec Level is 23.

...even for the former King of Gran Turismo cars

I felt like I may be not in a mood of driving the former King of Gran Turismo cars (since it was dethroned by the Formula GT and now, the Red Bull X1 Prototype) but since I want to collect more, I have the urge to buy the Escudo Dirt Trial Car.

(Laughs) Just like old times, Escudo. I thought I never forget you. At least the probability to find the Escudo Dirt Trial Car on the Used Car dealership is somewhat 5%, so check back every time until you find this former King.

Despite reputation, the Escudo's still a GT King for me...

If I am unhappy, I could just gift it to an online buddy who didn't have one...

One of the most expensive GT5 Premium cars, the Jaguar XJ13!

Jaguar XJ13 in Gion, Kyoto

A beautiful British classic race car
staying in Gion

Ah, lucky me. 1/11/11. January 11, 2011. The date when I first got my hands on this ultra-expensive Gran Turismo 5 Premium Tier car that is none other than the Jaguar XJ13. I won this car from the 200-lap challenge at the Indianapolis, in A-Spec.

You can't beat the classics!

It's pretty amusing that this car is mostly expensive and you need to win more races to buy some. Fortunately for the Jaguar XJ13, this one is a prize car from winning the A-Spec 200-lap Indianapolis race. I used the Formula Gran Turismo on that race and it took almost three hours to win!

Classic vs. Modern?

I guess some GT5 amateurs, pros, and experts got their hands on this ultra-expensive Jaguar XJ13 as a prize car, but what would they react when they show it on online battles? Guess I would keep this vintage Jaguar classic as a memorabilia of hardships and I'm just two A-Spec levels away from getting the X2010 S. Vettel car. In the meantime, what should I do with the Jaguar XJ13 on GT5? It's a mega expensive car won from an endurance match and what could possibly go wrong?
