GT6: Cars that are Gran Turismo exclusive - Chevy SSR

Today, I'm going to take a look at the very rare and very modern take of a classic Chevrolet pickup truck, the SSR. Inspired by the looks of the classic 1948 C3100, the SSR is more of a ute rather than a traditional workhorse. It behaves like a sportscar or to be precise...this American remake of a classic Chevy pickup truck has the feel of an Australian ute...that GT6 never had one. Pity...

This SSR will run through the Goodwood Hillclimb but at what time on a rainy day will it post?

It posted a 1:06.818 lap time on a rainy day!

The V8 engine sounds so muscular but the bulk of it wasn't quite quick enough to beat the competition. But still, even though it was discontinued in 2006, it's still a future classic and thanks to the fact that it sold very poorly, it's a rarity on the streets.

Six Nations 2014 FINAL

And here it is...the conclusion of the RBS Six Nations 2014 match and it all ends here as six of the greatest rugby nations; Wales, England, Italy, France, Scotland, and Ireland, scrum their way to snag the championship title and even though Wales' frenetic win against  Scotland at the score of 51 to 3, it's still wasn't enough.

Highlights;

Wales vs. Scotland

Italy vs. England

France vs. Ireland

After five grueling rounds in the RBS Six Nations 2014, there is only one team that shook the world since Round 1, the team that performed an impressive show in the face of the fans, the team that stood up and be counted all the way to the very. So, who won the 2014 Six Nations? There's only one answer...

It's the IRFU from Ireland. The Irish rugby team declared the victor. And that concludes the RBS Six Nations 2014. Congratulations Ireland!

Thank you and goodbye!

What's in our Car Town garage today? (March 16, 2014)

What's in our Car Town garage today?

1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

The tale of the Chevrolet Camaro began in 1966 as General Motors' answer against the Ford Mustang. It was a heck of a battle but it seems that the Camaro failed to stack against the Mustang even as years go by. This is the convertible version or to be accurate, the SS Convertible version. The SS model of the first Camaro comes with either a 5.7L V8 engine or a 6.5L V8 engine. Legend has it that this convertible version once used as a pace car for the 1967 Indianapolis 500 race.

1965 Ford Mustang Convertible

Born in 1964, the Ford Mustang served as one of the founding fathers of the muscle-car craze and since its first year of sales, Ford managed to racked up almost 700,000 orders, which is still an industry record that hasn't matched up as of now. The first Mustang is always worth remembering for Mustang fans who want to trace the roots of this founding father of this genre. A top-of-the-line model, especially this convertible model, can come with a 271 horsepower K-Code “Hi-Po” 289 Windsor V8 engine and with this, the success of the Ford Mustang can be traced here.

1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible

If there's one thing that the original Challenger had that the modern version didn't, it has to be the convertible version. Sure, both the Camaro and the Mustangs have convertible versions through the years but the Challenger is the only underdog left behind and even as of now, Chrysler won't be making a modernized Challenger convertible until further notice. Even though this is the convertible version, it's still a favorite among Mopar enthusiasts thanks to the 426 HEMI V8 engine pumping out 425HP of power output.

Need For Speed (2014 film)

For some unknown reasons, one of the best-selling EA franchises in history, the Need For Speed franchise, has spawned a movie version like any other video game franchises in the world rarely spawn theatrical films for numerous reasons but for those who are looking to watch one of the latest action films in time before your annual spring break draws near, it could be it because the Need For Speed movie is all about speed and revenge. Is it something that really turned you on?

Need For Speed

Although the film has nothing to do with all the Need For Speed video games from the past to present, it's worth enjoyable to watch because in this movie, Aaron Paul, familiar by many as Jesse Pinkman from the concluded Breaking Bad TV series, is the perfect actor to play a role in the movie. Aaron Paul played the role of Tobey Marshall, a man who runs a family business, an auto shop to be precise, and street races with his pals in his free time until tragedy struck him. He was framed for the crime he didn't commit and two years later...he was freed from prison and plans revenge against whoever framed him. He takes on the "De Leon" race, similar to The Run from 2011's NFS The Run video game, which is a cross-country high-stakes street race that spans across the United States. Armed with the highly-customized Ford Mustang to the teeth, Toeby will risk everything to take down anyone who stands in his way and win the De Leon race to save his family business.

This NFS movie combines elements from car movies of different eras, making it a unique high-octane movie you would never disappoint, especially for NFS fans of all ages. To add it to a mix, the NFS movie features a wide range of unfamiliar and familiar stars including Dominic Cooper, who played the role of a bad guy named Dino Brewster, Imogen Poots as Julia Bonet, Scott Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, and many others. But it's not just about that because while the Need For Speed franchise is all about cars, IT's ALL ABOUT CARS. Period. Aside from the Ford Mustang being the hero car of the film, the one Tobey drives in the De Leon race, it features a million-dollar feast of hyperexotics ranging from the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (which is Dino's vehicle of choice), the Saleen S7, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the Koenigsegg Agera R, the Spanish-made GTA Spano, the hybrid-engine wielding McLaren P1, and so much more. What boggles me is that because those ultra-expensive supercars were featured, the producers told me that no actual supercars, like the P1 or the Agera or the Veyron or any other million-dollar exotics featured in the film, were harmed during the making of the film. That's a mystery...because they used re-bodied versions rather than real ones because it would be too pricey to wreck the real ones while filming the film.

If I had a comment; how come this movie doesn't have Porsches? Sure, EA may have the exclusivity for Porsches but why did they not show up on the Need For Speed movie? Well, EA, do you have something to say? You may have exclusivity for Porsches but how come they never get the star treatment for the Need For Speed movie? It's their time to shine and not that whole Mustang and Koenigsegg and all of that million-dollar exotic nonsense because over the past few years, Porsches have always been the representative of the Need For Speed world and how come, after all those years of being an EA-exclusive, they never showed up in a film based on one of the fastest-selling video game franchises from EA? If the Need For Speed film isn't all about Porsches, who cares?

For an added surprise in the NFS movie, a 2015 Ford Mustang was making an easter egg in the film. If you spotted this "easter egg" car in the Need For Speed movie, what do you think? Well, since the 2015 Ford Mustang is officially an EA-exclusive ever since it made its first appearance on Need For Speed Rivals last year on a free update, it stays an EA-exclusive. Sorry...

So, with all of that, I give a rating of a good-ish 3.5 out of 5. Still, it's worth enjoyable to see one though so don't worry about this film not showing too many Porsches like what most NFS games do because it's so cool...you may want to see this film over and over and over...

Geekdom's Guide to Omelette du Fromage

Omelette du fromage

Now, if you were kids and if you remember Dexter's Lab, you may have noticed one of your memorable episodes from one of your memorable shows you've watched during your childhood. It's the one where Dexter kept saying the omelette du fromage word. This French word made him get away with anything except in the end of the episode where Computer rejected Dexter's password and then self-destructed his lab. I know you guys watched this episode and you often want to say it all day long.

Omelette du fromage  is French for cheese omelette and how can you make your own omelette du fromage? Something that you can whistle this to the girls near you for romantic reasons.

All you need is 3 large eggs (Grade A recommended), 2 slices of cheese (any cheese), and 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. It takes two minutes to cook the cheese omelet and two minutes to prepare.

First, add oil to the skillet over high heat and heat it until small hairline ripples appear. Then, break the eggs into tall glass or frappe cup and whisk to blend for a minute. While moving the skillet in a round motion, pour the eggs and keep moving until the outside edges have firmly cooked so you can flip it and cook for 30 seconds. Overlap 2 slices of cheese in the center of the omelet in a diamond shape, fold the omelet into half, and slide it onto the plate.

After you finished making your own omelette du fromage, you now have the most romantic meal you'd ever had. So romantic, you may want to whisper it to the girls or for the heck of it...you're going to say "omelette du fromage" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....
