My FH5 Log: A race-spec Mosler

The Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion introduces drivers to the time when the cult classic supercar, the Mosler MT900, became a racing machine.

This is the Mosler MT900 GT3, a racing version of the MT900 supercar that was notable for competing against the world's best supercars at a fraction of the cost.

Made to compete in the GT3-class racing disciples. the MT900 GT3 retains almost everything from the road-going model except for the installation of the safety cage, fire extinguisher, lightweight materials, and for GT3-class purposes, restrictors slapped to its glorious LS7 V8 engine that saw its power dropped to 520hp of power compared to the MT900S's 600bhp power output. It is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox from Hewland.

Although less powerful and heavier than the MT900S in the game, it's still as terrifying to drive as its road-going equivalent and because of its GT3 dynamics, it feels somewhat standardized and dynamic at the same time when I let this monster machine loose. The same goes while driving through Hot Wheels' finest orange tracks because it feels right at home for what was known to be one of the cheesiest racing machines ever made and forgotten.

Speaking of which, it's time to see how much of a racing machine this race-converted MT900 can do, and since we're at Hot Wheels park, this will be the ideal demonstration to flex its cheesy muscles against a dozen powerful rivals waiting to have an impression. Let's show them the impression the MT900 GT3 can do. Roll the tape.

It's true what I said, it's still as terrifying to drive as its road-going equivalent.

Even in its GT3-class racing specification, this forgotten supercar really is special and for the Mosler MT900, there's no exception. This cheesy monster machine still got it, letting its performance do the talking and leaving with huge impression drivers will never forget.

This is how the Mosler works.

Forza Horizon 4: Happy New Mosler

Obtained from my inbox as a gift car for all of the Forza Horizon 4 players, the unsung supercar hero that was completely forgotten by the times, the 2010 Mosler MT900S, marks its return since its last appeared in the first Horizon game of 2012. Talk about returning to the game after so many years for a handful of players to drive it again.

The original Mosler MT900 was only a one-hit wonder because only the prototype was made while its track-only version has been very busy with track duty. The MT900S is the upgraded version of the original MT900 which uses the same LS6 V8 engine from the C5 Corvette Z06 but produces 435HP of power. Later upgrades pushed the engine's power to 600hp of power, making it capable of going from 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds according to Car & Driver magazine. There was a Photon version which features a 6-speed Hewland gearbox and other upgrades that dropped its weight of 898kg (1980lb), all for an additional $50,000 but at present, only two of these machines were fitted with that option.

Fun fact that Star Wars creator George Lucas was one of the owners of this Mosler supercar.

Although forgotten by time, there's still plenty of juice left to see how much of a supercar the Mosler is and with that, I took some time off to take it for a street race.

This unsung hero's still got it. Even though the Mosler MT900S is one of the supercars that were completely forgotten by the times, there is so much to tell about its performance when you get behind the wheel and although some call it mediocre compared to the establishment, its uniqueness as a boutique supercar is what makes it special.
