- San Miguel Corporation canceled the ₱7.78 billion Boracay Bridge Project, following widespread opposition from local stakeholders. This allegedly follows consultations and growing opposition from residents, environmental groups, tourism stakeholders, and local governments.

- The EJK Truth Commission, an independent and civilian-led group that aims to build a credible record of cases of extrajudicial (EJK) killings in the Philippines, was launched today.

- Sen. Risa Hontiveros explained why the minority senators walked out of Tuesday's session. According to the senator, this was done to ensure that a quorum could not be formed. This followed Sen. Rodante Marcoleta's push for an immediate vote on her motion to allow online voting for absent senators. Hontiveros added that it was also unplanned that they left Sen. Tito Sotto on the floor to ensure that the majority bloc could not vote.

- The previously suspended search and rescue operations at the collapsed nine-story building in Brgy. Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga, will continue. According to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, this is to search and rescue the missing individuals trapped in the collapsed building.

- Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Acting Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna has ordered a temporary halt to tree-cutting along Quirino Avenue in Manila.

- Philippine National Police (PNP) allays public fears regarding possible special treatment for Senator Bato dela Rosa once he is arrested.

- The first status conference of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Trial Chamber III in the case of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has begun.

- ICYMI: A rare "green fireball" lit up the skies above Mayon Volcano during its ongoing eruption. PHIVOLCS clarified that the meteor disintegrated before impact. The stunning footage of this event quickly went viral worldwide. The meteor shower from space occurred on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10:33 p.m.

- Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Agrarian Reform Sec. Conrado Star III, and Education Sec. Sonny Angara are appointed as caretakers of the Philippines following President Ferdinand Marcos' state visit to Japan.

- The Sandiganbayan 7th Division has issued a precautionary hold departure order (PHDO) against Senator Rodante Marcoleta, former Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor, and businessmen Aristotle Viray and Joseph Espiritu, in connection with an alleged ₱75 million campaign donation in 2025.

- Vice President Sara Duterte's regional political group, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), has joined the Reform Alliance for Accountability, Good Governance, and Ethics (RAGE) coalition. According to a report, after launching in Luzon and Visayas, the RAGE coalition expanded its presence in Mindanao with the addition of HNP as a new ally. However, VP Sara was unable to attend the gathering, but her group had a representative attend on her behalf.

- Rescuers are conducting an overnight retrieval operation at the collapsed building in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, where four people were immediately reported dead, and 16 people are still missing to date.

- BP sacked chairman Albert Manifold over "unacceptable" governance oversight and conduct issues.

- The US military launched new strikes on targets in southern Iran.

- Sentences of boys spared custody for rape in Hampshire referred to the Court of Appeal, according to UK PM Keir Starmer.

- The first-ever Ferrari Luce was unveiled. It is a four-door GT co-designed alongside Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newsom of LoveFrom. The Ferrari-first EV drivetrain is powered by a quad-motor setup that produces 1050PS of power and a driving range of over 530km.

2026 NASCAR Cup Series - Coca-Cola 600

The Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a monumental race in NASCAR, wraps up The Big Day in Motorsports. The pre-race ceremonies featured ongoing celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States. Additionally, there was a moment of silence to honor America's war heroes and one of NASCAR's own, Kyle Busch. Amazingly, despite her accident at the INDY 500, Katherine Legge managed to show up in Charlotte, proving she's still fighting.

As the green flag waved, NASCAR's Memorial Day action kicked off with a Lap 8 tribute for Kyle Busch. With the real action beginning, Connor Zilisch and Austin Cindric got involved in a collision mess followed by Chase Elliott's crash, Ross Chastain's spinning crash, and the big one at Lap 329.

Due to inclement weather, the race was prematurely ended. Daniel Suarez, who was currently leading the race, was named the winner of the Coca-Cola 600 of the NASCAR Cup Series.

The next race is at Nashville for the Cracker Barrel 400 on May 31, 2026.

F1 2026: Lenovo Grand Prix du Canada

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is the next stop for the 2026 F1 season for the Lenovo Grand Prix du Canada. This race is a true test of the new F1 machines as the drivers are exercising caution while traversing through the CGV and avoiding the dreaded Wall of Champions.

Kimi Antonelli's winning streak for the 2026 F1 season grew to four with his latest victory in Canada. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen showcased their return to form with Hamilton beating Verstappen for P2. Other finishers include Charles Leclerc, Isack Hadjar, Franco Colapinto, Liam Lawson, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, and Ollie Bearman.

The next race is the Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco this June 7, 2026.

F1 Academy 2026 - Montreal

The 2026 F1 Academy season continues in Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, where this race weekend becomes a three-race match to compensate for the cancelation of their Jeddah campaign. For this season's Canada campaign, they were joined by this race's wild card driver; Autumn Fisher.

Alisha Palmowski, donning Red Bull colors, won two of the three races in CGV while Mathilda Paatz, backed by Aston Martin, won Race 2. 

However, it was Megan Bruce that grab headlines in Canada where she finished 2nd on Race 1. On Race 2, she got promoted to P2 following Alba Larsen's penalization. In the final race, she finished 3rd.

The 2026 F1 Academy season continues in Silverstone this July 3-5, 2026.

NTT IndyCar Series 2026 - INDY 500

The Greatest Spectacle of Racing, the INDY 500, was held every Memorial Day weekend and for 2026, this is INDY 500 at its best as it takes part of the United States of America's 250th anniversary celebrations.

In what's known to be the closest-ever fight to the finish, Felix Rosenqvist snatched David Malukas lead in the final stretch to win this year's INDY 500. Scott McLaughlin completes the podium with a third place finish.

Of course, it wouldn't be INDY 500 without some incidental moments, notably the Lap 17 incident involving Ryan Hunter-Reay and Katherine Legge. Although it's a heartbreak for Legge, she managed to escape the accident and took a brieg rest before going to Charlotte for NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 race.

While this year's INDY 500 is done, the 2026 IndyCar season continues with the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix this May 31, 2026.
