Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The so-called Guardians of the Galaxy have returned for another one of their greatest hits in the universe and for their Volume 2 mixtape, looks like our ever favorite band of intergalactic vigilantes are up to something next while a powerful alien race chasing them far and wide. This can get very interesting for one of the biggest films pre-summer.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Volume 2 picks up where the previous one left off following Groot's fate sealed and later reemerged as the Baby Groot. In this film, the so-called guardians were recruited by a powerful alien race to protect their most valuable resources but when they discovered that Rocket Raccoon stole the resources they were supposed to protect, that's where the hot pursuit begins and Peter "Star-Lord" Quill and the gang must shake off their pursuers by any means necessary.

The cast from the previous film were returned for this second installment, well almost. There's Chris Pratt as you know who he is, there's Zoe Saldana as Gamora, former WWE superstar and Bond villain Dave Bautista as Drax, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket with the addition of other celebs like Kurt Russell as, and this is the shocking part, Peter Quill's father. True to the chemistry from last time, the second installment of Guardians of the Galaxy is not just one film because it still is an action thriller and slapstick comedy all rolled into one so-called superhero flick everyone can enjoy, even the whole family. However, even though this film packs more thrills than the last film, the jokes are still corny than last time and there's one inescapable hunch they should know about. This film is NOT welcomed to be called "cute".

Yes, Baby Groot's presence in this film can be somewhat...you get the point, but because "cuteness" is not welcomed in this film, tough is what best sums this small-but-terrible sapling up because this film is still tougher than you look. It is but be warned, anytime you call this film "cute", you'll be subjected to Baby Groot's buttkicking habits. Simple as that.

Although this maybe the corniest flick to watch and the risk of being called "cute" due to Baby Groot, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is as enjoyable as a road trip with your mates and it's the perfect superhero flick you can bring your friends and family for during the summer season.

Logan (2017 film)

Previously, X-MEN fans got their minds blown away in the most colossal battle in history, X-MEN Apocalypse. Now, the tone has set from thrilling to a much somber, yet sadder take on the prime of the man who used to be the feared mutant Wolverine.

Set after the events of "The Wolverine", Logan brings back actor Hugh Jackman as the man formerly known as the Wolverine, this time as the caretaker of the ailing Professor X. While spending the prime of their lives hiding from the rest of the world, Logan's life spiraled out of control when he encountered a little girl who has the same powers as his. Now pursued by enemies, Logan will risk everything and use whatever means necessary to protect the only ones he trusted.

Although a thrilling action film to watch, even for superhero fans alike, this film won't shake off from its sad theme and no matter how many fight sequences this film had, its somberness can't be ignored and that makes us very sad to see him spending the prime of his lives hiding in plain sight with no reason.

Still, despite its sad theme, witnessing the final moments of the man who used to be the Wolverine is worth becoming the coolest send-off ever done and it won't give up until it finish what it really started.

Marvel's Doctor Strange

While we are having some Marvel hangovers after last summer's Civil War and while we're still waiting for more Marvel films coming next year, including a new Thor film with Hulk in it, another Marvel superhero steps into the big screen and this one could be your newest favorite because...it's got a good looking guy in an accent playing the role of a powerful sorcerer who will be humanity's last hope against evildoers.

Doctor Strange

Marvel's Doctor Strange centers on a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon named Stephen Strange, played by Sherlock's  Benedict Cumberbatch, whose career is destroyed after a fatal accident. Following his accident, he travels to Nepal until he encounters The Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton, the Sorcerer Supreme of the Earth who will lead him to an extraordinary life of becoming a powerful sorcerer who can save the world against evil zealots and other-dimensional beings as he engulfs on a magical war to decide the fate of the world.

The first half of the movie is pretty much regular like all superhero flicks discovering their origins but by the time this movie progresses, it's becoming as mind blowing as a disaster flick because of the scenes where everything is starting to crumble. Sure is traumatic even by sci-fi standards and by the fact that they're computer-generated, but because this is Benedict Cumberbatch we're talking about, his role of being a superhero is very unheard of by Marvel standards. We were getting accustomed by British celebs playing villains, even in Marvel movies, but for a British guy playing the hero in this film, that's very unique and as long as there's anyone getting hooked on him more than focusing on how the story unfolds.

Getting your eyes glued to this latest Marvel flick and Doctor Strange really is an attention-grabbing flick that doesn't care about its flaws as long as fans of Benedict Cumberbatch can see how his superhero role works in the same way as being a detective in a TV show and this movie, which has bits that can blow their heads off, is a clear example why we want to go to the movies.

X-Men: Apocalypse

This is by no means the biggest X-MEN movie to date and if by biggest, I mean, of course, colossal as the ragtag group of mutants band together to save the world against the most powerful mutant of all, Apocalypse. X-MEN Apocalypse promises a big roster of mutants from the X-MEN world compared to Days of Future Past two years ago and will blow away every moviegoer who got hooked into this ultimate superhero flick to date.

X-Men: Apocalypse
In this movie, a mutant named Apocalypse was worshipped as a god since the dawn of civilization. After thousands of years later, his ultimate power has been awakened and Apocalypse will stop at nothing to rule the world with an iron fist. Underneath the shadows of Apocalypse's unlimited power lies a group of fresh youngsters banded by Professor X and mutant Raven. These young mutants became humanity's last hope and will stop at nothing to prevent Apocalypse from taking over the world by his hands. This movie stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn and Lucas Till.

The folks from 20th Century FOX have finally done this film since Days of Future Past two years ago and with this film, think Attack of Titan with a million times more manageable because there's nothing much to say about this superhero flick about a group of youngsters trying to take down a ultra-powerful super villain who tries to destroy the world with his almighty powers but if you have any doubts about this film, this latest X-MEN flick isn't made for the faint at heart because this film is part disaster flick, part action flick in the process but for the love of superheroes, this is 100% superhero flick as comic book fans watched it from the start to the finish. Its hard for those who can survive through the duration of this flick due to the disastrous parts featured on this film but for those who love to enjoy the epic battle between good and evil, it feels great to see thanks to the long roster of X-MEN characters featured in this flick since Days of Future Past.

Although this film is too scary and too dangerous to watch, this newest X-MEN film is just one of the main reasons why we all love a great superhero flick since the very beginning. Our geekdom really appeals on this one, though.

Captain America: CIVIL WAR

This is by no means one of the best summer blockbuster films to watch, even for the whole family whose kids love a good superhero rivalries, because the long-awaited rivalry between the two Avengers; Captain America and Iron Man, is officially officially on with Marvel's Civil War movie. For these two rivals, they're not alone in the fight for the future.

Captain America: CIVIL WAR

Following the most tragic incident that spiraled the fate of the Marvel Superheroes, the US Congress passed a bill that require all superheroes to unmask their true identities before the public. Iron Man supports the idea but for Captain America, he condemns this ideology. Because of such disagreements, they will decide that they will battle against each other in order to decide the fate of the heroes. However, for each side, they're not alone.

Joining alongside Captain America is Hawkeye, Ant-man, Agent Carter, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, and his old enemy, the Winter Soldier. For Iron Man's side, he's got his old allies War Machine and Black Widow as well as Black Panther, Vision, and for plot twist purposes, Spider-Man! With the two sides collide, it now turns into an all-out war for the future of the superheroes.

This movie is all about choices and this is all about standing up for what is right. It's hard to explain the many people who are interested in this movie are starting to debating whose side are they on. For some who like Captain America, it's about brute strength. For those who are on Iron Man's side, it's all about the intelligence that will one day prevail just like the gadgets from his armored suit. Either way, it's going to be one heck of a blast to enjoy the rivalry between the two Marvel superheroes and talk about how great this film as after you watch.

There are so many superhero movies we can expect through the end of the decade but with Civil War, you can consider this one of the best Marvel movies to watch since last year's Avengers: Age of Ultron but even though this is going to be one of the best films to watch before summer kicks into overdrive, perhaps this movie can do better. Oh well, at least the year 2016 gave us some of the best superhero rivalries for geeks and nerds to choose whose side are they on. Consider this a job well done to see one of our lifelong fantasies come true. But remember, this is just the beginning.

Deadpool (2016 film)

One of the most anticipated films of 2016 is none other than everyone's favorite "Merc with the Mouth" who is good to be bad at being the good guy. Enter Deadpool.

Sadly, I can't explain what's what about this film because Deadpool's here to explain what's what about his film because if I can explain about this myself Deadpool's going to blow my house down with some explosives rigged under my bed.

Deadpool

Hello! Privet! Namaste! Ahoj! Merhaba! Hola! Salut! Yia sou! Selam! Guten Tag! Ni Hao! Konnichiwa! Witaj! Shalom! Saluton! Annyeong! People of the world! Yes, it's me. The merc with the mouth they called me Deadpool and how it's great to have a movie about myself. If by myself, I mean REALLY. Myself.

If you don't know who I really am. Lemme tell you a story and don't worry, I won't put you to sleep like what your mama, papa, nana, and pepop do when you're little. Once upon a time, there was a mercenary named Wade Wilson and he was diagnosed with the little C-word that everyone's afraid to have one in their life, but then, a secret experiment lured Mr. Wilson to a choice to live a second chance or face his imminent death. However, the experiment didn't healed his cancer but gained mutant genes to regenerate himself. Wilson's cancer left him disfigured but incapable of death. This is where Deadpool is born. Yep. That's me! We're you surprised?

My good friend Ryan Reynolds did a great job of being me and to be honest, both Ryan and I can make a perfect combination because he's so good at being me in this film. Also, my other good friend, director Tim Miller, did a great job of perfecting a film about me everybody in the world would love. I just want to be with those guys for the rest of my life, if you know what I mean?

Some people heard about my film is a total wreck compared to those low-life Marvel films and I said I disagree because my film "kills" all of the other films from the Marvel universe! Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy, you name every stuff from the Marvel universe and I can top them all thanks to my...um...what some might call fighting style as well as my charisma that pleases the viewers.

I want all of you, fellow supporters of me, Deadpool, to enjoy my film made by the people who knew better about me, the Merc with the Mouth, because this is why my dream of having a movie about me came true thanks to my new friends Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller and before you're getting all emotional, you'd better wipe off your tears with your bare hands. Got it?! Good.

P.S. Don't have a date for Valentines? Spend a date with me, Deadpool.

Thank you Deadpool for your rhetorical message and for that, I'll give you a 3.9 out of 5 on the rating scale. Happy now that you got your own film?!

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Earth's mightiest heroes return for their most gruelling and most intense challenge yet as the sequel to the hit 2012 movie, Avengers, promises to deliver more thrills and spills for the comic book fans of all ages until it hits the turning point where one of the Avengers face death.

It all starts when our heroes landed in a fictional nation of Sokovia, they've attacked the secret base of the evil organization known as HYDRA and snagged the scepter of Loki, Thor's evil brother. After the retrieval mission, wealthy extraordinaire and Iron Man himself, Tony Stark, envisioned a global catastrophe and to counter this fateful moment, he takes full advantage of Loki's scepter to create a peacekeeping AI known as Ultron (not to be confused by the motor oil of the same name that you get from your local Petron gas station), but instead, he unleashed a weapon of mass destruction that could threaten not just his colleagues but also the world. With Ultron wrecking havoc, it's up to the Avengers to stop this threat and stopping it could come with a big price.

When the first Avengers film in 2012 ended with a big teaser, we are expecting bigger threats to come in Earth, and as a result, that's where Ultron comes in. For a supervillain, it was really bonkers, but the movie never felt like it's showing its full potential, maybe it was the actor who played it known as James Spader, but anyway, while not focusing on the new threat, onto the film.

The film is more of a so-so at the start despite the opening sequence where the Avengers attacked a secret base in some made-up nation in Eastern Europe, but when the film reaches its turning point, that's when this movie kicks in to its peak because when we hear about one of the Avengers will die, we were kinda shocked about it and for obvious reasons, I'm not going to tell whose one of the Avengers will die on the film and it might be best for you to watch it yourself to find the answer.

Age of Ultron may not be one of the coolest films to watch this late spring but it sure is more than enough to blow everyone away with everything a Marvel fan can imagine and this sequel is just the dawn of the endless war that we might expect in the future installments of the Avengers movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy

The Marvel universe sees the never-ending war beyond good and evil from the pages of the comic books, TV shows, big-screen movies, and tons of merchandises. Whether if it's SpiderMan, The Fantastic Four, the X-MEN, or The Avengers, rest assured that these comic book heroes inspire great admiration and entertain us with the wow factor these guys deserve. At last, there's a new addition to the Marvel universe of films and this time, it's a bit different from what we expect from the world of Marvel.

Guardians of the Galaxy
Yes, this is kinda new to us but what you've seen here is called Guardians of the Galaxy. A ragtag group of renegades form alliance and their mission is to defend the galaxy from evildoers that stand in their way. The action-packed film stars Chris Prattas Peter "Star-Lord" Quill, Zoe Saldana as the femme fatale Gamora, former WWE superstar Dave Batista plays the muscular Drax the Destroyer, The Fast and the Furious' Vin Diesel lends his voice as Groot, and Bradley Cooper lends his voice as the very unique but very awesome racoon dude named Rocket.

This movie is all about adventurer Peter Quill, who was the subject of a bounty hunt after he stole a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, an evildoer who wants to take over the galaxy, as any supervillains do. To stop Rowan, he forms alliances with a band of bandits; Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot, right until Peter discovers the true power of the orb he stole. After the discovery, the so-called Guardians of the Galaxy will risk everything to save the universe from the brink of evil.

Yes, we know. This isn't more of a superhero flick like most Marvel movies do but Guardians of the Galaxy, not to be confused with any stuff that has the words "guardians" on it, has a unique blend of action, adventure, and some humor to keep moviegoers longing for more. A team-up of one human being, a muscular megalomaniac, a feisty assassin, a tree-ish humanoid, and a racoon? Looks weird but sounds pretty cool to us to see such a unique teamup and I believe that this is even more unique than the Avengers. Unlike the Avengers, the Guardians is all about massive firepower and they're armed to the teeth to save the day. Come on, you know you want to but if there's a downside, it's the storyline. Although the storyline delves deep to the origin of the heroes, there's some lacking and do you expect Star-Lord to wear his signature helmet? I don't think so and that's a bit rude for Marvel fans too many.

Despite that, Guardians of the Galaxy is one sure thing why this film deserves to be part of the Marvel universe and hey, every Marvel fan knows all this ever since it made a special appearance in one episode of Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, and Hulk and the Agents of SMASH. Guardians may not be one of the best to watch in the summer but if you're looking for some Marvel thrills, nerd lookie right here!

X-MEN: Days of Future Past

The X-MEN movies gave us a modernized take on our favorite mutants straight from the pages of the Marvel comic books where it was based. From the first one, X2, The Last Stand, Origins: Wolverine, the First Class film where we discover the secret origins of Magneto and Professor X, and last year's The Wolverine where, of course, Wolverine travels to Japan in his mission to become mortal. Now, the ultimate X-MEN movie, titled X-MEN: Days of Future Past, has arrived and it was aimed to be the X-MEN movie to end all X-MEN movies because why? All of our favorite characters come full force to take on a robot uprising.

In a dystopian future, the Sentinel robots enslaved the United States and they're set to unleash armageddon. The X-MEN have failed to stop the uprising while the few surviving mutants were imprisoned at the Mutant Internment camps. However for the mutants, all hope is not lost because to stop this Sentinel uprising, they must travel back to the past and put a stop to it to save their future.

This movie truly re-writes history with its hard-hitting storyline, which is truly based on the pages of the original Days of Future Past issues by John Byrne and Chris Claremont, and when you look at it, you can really salivate it on how awesome the battle scenes are, how powerful the storyline is, and how star-studded the appearance of their favorite X-MEN heroes and villains. From heroes such as Wolverine, Mystique, Colossus, and Cyclops to villains such as Magneto, Nimrod, and Master Mold, the huge roster of X-MEN mutants from past to present are all here to give it all they've got in this ultimate X-MEN storyline to date.

Thrilling, it can be, and spectacular, it can be, Days of Future Past will surely promise to deliver moviegoers the biggest thrill ride they've ever promised and I swear that if you watched it all the way to the end of the film, there's no guarantee that you will never forget this moment forever and ever.

My rating will be a good 4 out of 5 so go see one now and experience the ultimate superhero flick of the year.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The first Avenger, Captain America, is back and this time he's taking on a new world and up against a powerful enemy in the sequel of the hit 2011 movie and like all good Avengers such as Iron Man and Thor, the sequel sees what Captain America does and picks up after 2012's Avengers left off or that's the theory.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Actor Chris Evans reprise his titular role as the first Avenger, Captain America while actress Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as SHIELD's femme fatale, Black Widow and Samuel Jackson returns to play as SHIELD's big boss; Director Nick Fury. Struggle to adapt to the modernized world, Captain America is targeted by a deadly conspiracy and he and Black Widow team up to put an end to this conspiracy while being trailed by agents of SHIELD as well as his deadliest foe in the film; The Winter Soldier.

Who is The Winter Soldier? Unless you read the comic books, this mercenary's identity is shrouded in mystery but believe me, this new villain is very deadly when come face to face against Captain America but still, could be worse...

One part you will find it noticing is the scene where Captain America's normal ego, Steve Rogers, mentioned something about “Fury’s last words" and that gives us to the question; is this the end to SHIELD's big boss? If you watched that movie, you'll find out but anyway, onto the part on how this film feels like...

Like all good superhero flicks, it's off to a slow start but when it gets more thrilling, this Captain America sequel is worth promising and once you get hooked to the best parts of the film, you can't get up for a bathroom break even when the movie ends with some cliffhanger on it so in theory, it's worth every breath you take to experience the high velocity of the Captain America experience, something that its previous movie or The Avengers or last year's Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World couldn't keep up.

I believe the staff has done a very good job on creating the Captain America sequel that not only if looks good for fans but it feels good and it delivers the thrills moviegoers wanted for more.

But hey, at least with this Captain America sequel, Marvel's off to a good start as 2014 promises to be a big year and although they'll be showing up more and more flicks based on Marvel superheroes such as Spider-Man, X-MEN, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, its success can't be overlook in the middle of the moviegoer's field!

I would rate it a 4.1 out of 5, meaning that this sequel is a good one.

Thor: The Dark World

2013 has been proven to be a great year for two of the Avengers Iron Man and Thor. A couple of months ago, we witnessed Iron Man 3 and based on what I see, this movie was definitely worth spectacular but with the ending that is worth questioning what comes next for businessman Tony Stark.

Now it's the turn of the God of Thunder who wields the Hammer of the Gods and making a re-THOR-N (pun intended) on the big screen is pretty much of a gimmick right now because...how can the sequel stack up?

Thor: The Dark World
Chris Hemsworth reprises back his role of an avenger is worth of a challenge but on this sequel, things are getting a lot more challenging as he'll be facing against a malevolent force threatened to conquer nine realms into darkness. That enemy we're talking about is Malekith, the ruler of the Dark Elves, who was played by former Doctor Who lead actor Christopher Eccleston, and which is kinda surprising though because what we have here is Thor facing up against some sort of a evil villain who kinda look like a Teletubby but in expectation, played by the man who used to be Doctor Who. Kinda more of a twist that we never saw it coming but to make things a lot more expecting, Natalie Portman returned to the film as human ally Jane Foster while a Brit name Tom Hiddleston made a comeback as Thor's evil brother Loki.

Although the flow of the story may seem to be a mediocre at first but when it gets further, this sequel tries to show its true self, showing how cool this movie's going to be but for not fooling everyone. It's fine if you want to watch this movie with the whole family and friends but when things started to get a little chatty, I'd expect that this is not quite the movie recommended for your taste and best to watch this movie by yourself but still, even though the storyline is messy, you can be forgiven with tons of special effects as well as the fight scenes that will put our favorite God of Thunder to the test.

Better still, if you watched the original two years ago, it takes time to appreciate the sequel before its ready to be recommended but if I have to rate this movie, I'd say I'll give it a 3 out of 5 because while this movie is worth the wait, there are some downsides to this sequel. No matter what, this movie is definitely a must-watch for Marvel fans many.

Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3
After getting ourselves wasted from last year's The Avengers, it's business as usual for the (currently owned by Disney) Marvel to pool in as much sequels as they can and this year, we seen Iron Man and Thor getting sequels for 2013. But first, let's talk about the third installment of the heavy hitting Iron Man film.

In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) gears himself once again as the venerable Iron Man and would you look at that. Seems that Iron Man's getting himself a new look for the third film! No longer the Mark 7 Iron Man as seen in the previous two films and also last year's Avengers but the one Tony Stark equipped for Iron Man 3 is the new Mark 42 suit. Seems that the production team really knows how to make some drastic changes for Iron Man around here and this new Mark 42 Iron Man suit really hits the spot but here in the third installment, it's not the suit that matters, it's the man who's risking everything.

Villains are everything but a major high-level threat against Tony Stark but for 3, there's a new enemy called The Mandarin and as any Marvel comics fan might tell you, this mysterious terrorist, the one Iron Man faces against, is the kind of baddie who wields power from his own intelligence. However, there are some major differences from this kind of villain. In the comics, The Mandarin is half-Chinese, born to a rich Chinese father and an English aristocrat. Here, he has no Chinese connections but dons his hair in a bun and has oriental-looking robes. Still, he's a sinister threat to the world and with Stark cut off from technology, only his willpower can unmask The Mandarin's evil plans.

The movie may lack some thrills from the previous installments but the storyline is epic indeed. This movie feels like you've been riding yourself at the world's most deadliest rollecoaster but with all the added fanservice that will keep this movie answer the demands of many Marvel fans. The film's director, Shane Black, sure knows where to put his money where it matters and this result to some high-speed thrills that sends them all the way to the edge of the atmosphere and with the pulse-pounding performance of both Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, and Ben Kingsley, this movie can't go wrong. There are so many reasons why to watch Iron Man 3 but there is only one; IT'S THE BEST IRON MAN FILM EVER, YET. This film is a heavyweight iron champion, it's heavy in effects, it's heavy on the epic storyline, and it's a champion for Marvel for creating the best Iron Man experience fans can get.
