2015MY Lancer Evo sparks end of the TC-SST

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
Here it is, folks. The end of Lancer Evolution draws near as Mitsubishi finally announced their 2015 update to one of Mitsubishi's 4WD rally super star which drawn a lot of attention to numerous speedo boys when it first launched in 2007 and been there for seven years, standing.

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Twin Clutch SST FINAL

Mitsubishi announced that the TC-SST (Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission)-equipped Evo will reach its end of its lifespan and they'll be offering special amenities on the TC-SST-equipped models such as scuff plates that says "LANCER EVOLUTION X Twin Clutch SST FINAL" and a special serial number located at the top the gearbox that says "FINAL ###". Mitsubishi will continue to sell the GSR model with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

For the 2015 model, the Lancer Evolution gained turn signals on the door mirrors, accented front door trims, and a Lightning Blue Mica color that will replace the outgoing Cosmic Blue Mica exterior color.

The suggested retail price has been changed so for now, the GSR model with the 5-speed gearbox costs 3,899,880 Yen ($39,000 estimate) while the GSR model equipped with the 6-speed Twin Clutch SST along with the GSR-Premium, the last Evo models to be using that double-clutch gearbox, costs from 4,159,080 Yen ($42,000 estimate) to 5,405,300 Yen ($55,000 estimate).

Forza Motorsport 4: Evo vs. STi

The battle between two sides

Over the years, Subaru and Mitsubishi had been locked in combat for decades just so they can outperform, outhandle, and outwit each other with their road going rally cars and everytime they launched different versions, they try outdo each other with a quantity of letters and numbers after the car's names. You've been given a choice; for one lap at the Nurburgring, you want the super-sharp Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution but for the journey home, you want a more comfortable Subaru Impreza WRX STi.

Here at Forza Motorsport 4, I'll be only comparing the STi's and the Evo's offered on this game and luckily, it will be somewhat a duel between Evos and STi's.

First up the 22B vs. the Evo VI

Subaru Impreza 22B - 1:28.290
Mitsubishi Evo VI - 1:29.321

Next: WRX STi GDB-Type II vs. Evo VIII MR

Subaru WRX STi GDB-Type II - 1:27.591
Mitsubishi Evo VIII MR - 1:27.818

NEXT: WRX STi GDB-F vs. Evo IX MR

Subaru WRX STi GDB-F - 1:26.718
Mitsubishi Evo IX MR - 1:27.556

AND FINALLY: WRX STi GRB vs. Evo X

Subaru WRX STi GRB - 1:26.986
Mitsubishi Evo X - 1:26.346

VERDICT: Hmmm...It appears my Stigness can only handle Scoobies because back when I was high school, I was very fond of the STi's regime. I once drove a GDB-F WRX STi since WMMT3 (or maybe the Fast and Furious PS2 game?) and I have to say that this is the kind of car I literally fell in love with. No matter how many times I've been bashed by adolescents in their Mitsubishi Evos, I'm on the urge of getting to know each other but then, with current generations revealed in Tokyo since 2007, it seems my love for Impreza STi's had been evolved and I swore myself that I will never ever get alienated by the aggressive raw power of the Mitsubishi Evo X...but I did. Sure, the Impreza STi GRB really won my heart but it's the Evo X's sheerness and agility really made it jealous. And that's how the age-old question's in boiling point as Evo fans and STi fans starting to melt down over debates.

Hey, since Subaru and Mitsubishi are out in the world of motorsports, and soon these two will be consigned at the history books, I think that this fight ends with an armistice, not a peace treaty.

Forza Horizon: Let the rally commence!

Eat dirt!

Today is the day the RALLY EXPANSION pack on Forza Horizon is out. With this pack, the whole Colorado gets down and dirty, transforming the Horiozn Festival into a rally driver's dream come true. On this expansion, this will test the mettle of your rally instincts, showing everyone who's got the skills to rule the dirtier side of the festival. On this pack, you'll expect five new cars that are brave enough to rally;

2005 Subaru Impreza WRX Sti
1982 Lancia 037 Stradale
1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth
1992 Toyota Celica GT-Four RC ST185
2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR

This pack costs 1600 MSP but if you're a season pass holder, it's free and not just that, you'll also receive this month's Season Pass bonus car; the 2003 Ford SVT Focus. That's Ford's rally-bred monster that's sure in handy later.

By the time you have the Rally Expansion and if you're tuning your car at the garage, you'll now have new rally-oriented tuning kits available such as the Rally Tires, rally suspension, and a short-gear ratio gearbox which is a necessity in the world of rallying. Almost all of the cars are welcomed to use such rally-oriented tuning kits and if you have the rally parts, you are cleared to rally. Happily however, these rally-oriented parts are usable in any mode, meaning that these kinds should be put to good use if you're in a game of KING at the Carson Golf Course. There are new rivals mode, online matches, and new achievements to see in the Horizon Rally Expansion.

In the world of rallying, time is your only enemy. Make sure you master the dirt very well and aim for the fastest time. If you mess it up, your rankings will suffer. Make sure you don't mess it up and concentrate on the road ahead in order to master the art of rallying. Oh, and don't be distracted by the beautiful scenery around you. Each event consists of four stages and if you set an overall fastest after four stages, you can advance to the next event and if you cleared all seven events, you've done it. That means you've conquered dirt and rallying.

You may clear it but did your progress fared well against your rivals from across the globe? Take them on the Rivals Mode and aim to be the fastest.

Well folks, hope you're enjoying some good time shoveling dirt on your opponents' front windows and rule the dirt in the world of rallying.

Kuha Mo? Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in a 100 Days To Heaven episode!

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in a 100 Days
To Heaven episode!

Kuha mo? A red Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X showed up in a 100 Days To Heaven episode! Notice the rear spoiler, that's the one. It was parked next to some silver car from its right.

In that episode, Anna Manalastas (Coney Reyes/Xyriel Manabat) encountered her former love interest, played by guest star Tirso Cruz III.

Who is he? And how did a little girl like Anna slapped the heck out of this man Anna saw at the parking garage earlier?

Remembering the "Arch Rivals"

2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X

Yes, both the Subaru WRX STi and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution are both arch rivals but I surely miss those rides since I first encounter them in 2007 when both the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X and the third-generation Subaru Impreza WRX STi (GRB) emerged in the Japanese market and later landed in the world market in 2008.

Both of these are fun to drives but with ages pass by, I think I surely forgotten the Arch Rivals, even I still remember one wild card I've encountered last July 2010.

2011 Subaru WRX STi 4-door (GVB)

That was the Subaru WRX STi 4-door (GVB/GVF). It was in Japan since July 2010 and I'm impressed about this one. Turns out, this one's can be easily forgotten because of the incoming fourth-generation Subaru Impreza coming soon.

The Evo says "Help me", will you help?

Like a good neighbor, the Lancer Evolution is there

Stick together, never torn apart

Guardian angel

Scared from thinking that the Evo may be ended up either dead or evolved into something boring like the Honda CR-Z, some online Evo geeks started an online petition showing that the Evo needs to be saved, not killing it, not turning into something boring, keep the Evo tradition alive.

Called "Mitsubishi, Keep the Evo Alive", this petition found at Causes.com shows how much Evo geeks love the Evo so much, they wish that Mitsubishi should not axe the LanEvo or turn it into something boring.

For those who are Evo supporters, please click on to this link:

COME ON JDM FREAKS! LET'S SHOW THEM HOW MUCH WE LOVE THE EVO SO MUCH, WE DON'T WANT MITSUBISHI TO END IT!

Hold that up, the Evo's not dead...yet

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR
Premium

Yesterday, I read the internet articles saying that Mitsubishi plans to kill the Evo for good. Now, when I wake up, I read something interesting;

And according to the Twitter from Mitsubishi Motors:

Production of the current Lancer Evolution continues as planned.
As for its successor, regulations and market feedback will dictate its engineering package & architecture.

MMC has kept the Lancer Evolution sedan evolving as the brand's highest performing model in the global market. However, as the market's needs and demands change, MMC is considering not advancing the Lancer Evolution concept in the same way as before, but to find a different direction for the Lancer Evolution model to evolve. The new direction, the technologies involved, and corresponding products will be disclosed in due course.

There you have it folks. The Mitsubishi Evo's not yet to be called "La Ocean Deep", but if the times demand it, the Mitsubishi Evo will end up being not the Evo of the yesteryears. As always, the Lancer Evolution is "our spirit, our evolution", it will keep on evolving into more exciting ways or something different....

The end of Evo?

Mitsubsihi Lancer Evolution X GSR
Premium

I read the bad news on Autoblog earlier that Mitsubishi Motors plans to pull the plug of the ever-favorite Lancer Evolution series in order to focus more on just "boring" eco-cars.

Scoop:

Mitsubishi said that the Lancer Evolution X will be the last of the Lancer Evolution history. Why would they decide that they would kill the Evo? We love the Mitsubishi Evo no matter what generation may be, even Evo III, Evo IV, Evo V, Evo VI, even the Evo VII, VIII, and IX.

Is it now "La Ocean Deep"? for the Mitsubishi Evo? Since the Evo X launched in late 2007 along with the 3rd-generation Subaru WRX STi, we enjoy watching these "Arch Rivals" clashing each other until 2010 marks Subaru's return of the WRX STi 4-door, resulting into two WRX STi bodies. I guess the Mitsubishi Evo's officially La Ocean Deep.

With Mitsubishi exited WRC, scaled down Ralliart operations, now killed the LanEvo franchise, what now? No more fun-to-drive Mitsubishi? That's just a lame excuse.

If Mitsubishi plans to revive it in the future, would it be another hybrid sports car that will end up being as boring as the CR-Z?

Question was, is the JDM culture diminishing?
