A quick history of the Love Live SIF series

In case you missed it, the Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 app game ended its service, ending the School Idol Festival series' 11-decade run. Although it's sad to see the School Idol Festival series go away, Love Live fans worldwide will forever be known that this series gave the idea of "Love Live every day, every day Love Live", whatever the reason.

Now that the SIF series is well and truly over, it's time for a quick history of the School Idol Festival series, the one that made fans fall in love with the Love Live series further.

Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE!

Love Live! School Idol Festival (2013) - Launched on April 15, 2013, the Love Live! School Idol Festival app game allows players to collect their favorite μ's idols as well as others. Apart from that, it's a rhythm game where players are tasked to tap the correct notes and conquer most of μ's greatest hits. Over its ten-year lifespan, the game received numerous updates to include idols and songs not just from μ's but also Aqours from Love Live! Sunshine!!, Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, and Liella! from Love Live! SuperStar!! The service for the first SIF app game ended at the end of March 2023 in preparation for the SIF2 game.

Love Live! School Idol Festival ~after school ACTIVITY~ Launched in 2016, it's basically the arcade version of the SIF game with 3D live performances. The arcade game only featured μ's idols and songs but the Next Stage update adds Aqours content to it. The arcade game's network service ended in October 2021 but before that, the free-to-download PS4 version was launched in March 2021.

Love Live! School Idol Festival All-Stars (2019) - Launched on September 26, 2019, this is the only SIF app game to feature 3D live performances of select songs. This game marked the debut of the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, which was formed from the SIF series' Perfect Dream Project where three original idols from the first SIF app game, namely Shizuku Osaka, Emma Verde, and Kanata Konoe, were chosen to become part of the newest idol group alongside six new faces such as Ayumu Uehara, Setsuna Yuki, Karin Asaka, Ai Miyashita, Rina Tennouji, and Kasumi Nakasu. Later updates featured new additions to the group such as Shioriko Mifune, Zhong Lanzhu, and Mia Taylor. The app's service ended in June 2023.

Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE! (2023) - Launched on April 15, 2023, the same day the original SIF game launched ten years ago, SIF2 features the greatest hits from μ's, Aqours, Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, and Liella! to play and master as well as collecting idols. Sadly, after a year, service for the SIF2 ended recently, on March 31st, 2024, ending the SIF series' 11-year run.

Thanks for the memories, Love Live! School Idol Festival series. This series became one of the pillars of LL fandom and although no longer with us, fans will find alternative ways and means for their "Love Live every day, every day Love Live", whatever it takes.

Arigato, SIF series.
