As the green flag waved, the first race of the new IndyCar season is on with a horrifying crash in the opening lap triggered a red flag with Jack Harvey badly involved and Malukas David got penalized for avoidable contact following the incident.
As the race resumed, Scott McLaughlin and Romain Grosjean got into contact while Conor Daly's incident triggered a full course of caution as well as Colton Herta. Will Power got penalized for avoidable contact following the incident with Herta.

After a thrilling start to the season, Marcus Ericsson wins the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg while Pato O'Ward finished 2nd and Scott Dixon finished 3rd.
The next race is at Texas Motor Speedway for the PPG 375 this April 2nd.
