F1 2023: Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix

The long wait is over. Formula 1 returns for its dramatic 2023 season with some movers and newcomers igniting the flames of the ultimate racing competition. The 2023 season kicked off in Sakhir for the Bahrain Grand Prix. 

As the lights went off, the first race of the season was on with Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso making contact in the opening lap and as Max Verstappen continued his lead, George Russell and Alonso were locked in for a heated battle. In Lap 15, newcomer Oscar Piastri surrendered in his first F1 race due to an electrical failure.

Halfway through the race, Esteban Ocon was penalized for not positioning his car correctly on the grid. With 16 laps left in the race, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is out of the race due to an electrical failure.

In the end, Red Bull delivered a 1-2 finish with Max Verstappen the winner and Sergio Perez finished 2nd while Fernando Alonso scored his 99th career podium after finishing 3rd, his first with the Aston Martin team.

The next race of the F1 2023 season will be at Jeddah for the STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on the 19th of March, 2023.
