2021 NTT IndyCar Series - Bommarito Automotive Group 500

The NTT IndyCar Series returns to the World Wide Technology Raceway for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Being the last oval race of the season, the drivers are going all out to survive this intense oval racing action from sunset to nighttime.

With the green flag waved, the last oval race of the 2021 season is underway but a few laps later since the race began, Ed Jones and Graham Rahal got involved in a crash that put them out of the race. As the race resumes on Lap 27, another incident occurred and this time it's Ed Carpenter on Turn 4. Come Lap 65, the championship leader Alex Palou is out of the race following an incident with Scott Dixon and Rinus Veekay.

With 77 laps elapsed, the remaining racers are still throwing everything they got to survive. For Romain Grosjean, well, not so much.

As Colton Herta's performing brilliantly on the lead, disaster struck him as mechanical failures signaled the end of Herta's race day. Following Herta's retirement on the race, another incident occurred and it's Alexander Rossi involved.

With less than 50 laps to go, the struggle is real for the drivers as the tension escalates and the climax is fast approaching.

After an intense 260-lap thriller, Josef Newgarden wins the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 while Pato O'Ward finished 2nd and Will Power finished 3rd.

Post-Missouri, O'Ward overtook Palou on the championship standings and he's now ten points ahead while Newgarden's at third place with 413 points.

With only three races left of the season, the title fight's going to be too close to call.

The next race will be at Portland International Raceway for the Grand Prix of Portland on the 12th of September, 2021.
