Secret x Heroine Phantomirage! ~Eiga ni natte chodaishimasu~

After two months of waiting because of you-know-what that left the whole family driven in tears while they are busy enjoying their favorite tokusatsu girls saving the day, the Phantomirage movie has finally arrived in theaters and it’s ready to be as cute as the TV show in the midst of this new normal.

Phantomirage in the big screen? Yes, kids! Everybody’s favorite phantom thieves of justice made their way to the big screen in the first movie offering of the Girls x Heroine Series, a tokusatsu franchise targeted for little girls and made in cooperation with Takara Tomy, OLM, and Studio Miike. This movie is based on the franchise’s third offering, which was aired on TV Tokyo for over a year (and recently finished last month).

The movie will see Phantomiheart Kokomi, Phantomispade Saki, Phantomiclover Yotsuba, and Phantomidaia Seira getting their chance to appear in the movie. Sadly, this is not what they’ve hoped for as the movie director, who turned into an Ikenaiya, pulling the strings on our girls. What’s also worse is the Gyaku Gyaku Keisatsu, the villains behind the Ikenaiya threats the girls faced in the TV show, also pulling the strings as well. Oh no! The girls fell in a trap no one saw it coming!

Phantomirage is one of the cutest shows aired on Japanese televisions because of their cute poses, the Himitsu no finale sequence is about as soft as Komasan, the Kizuna Style Phantomiheart firing her Phantomifinale gun is like a sign the barbershop’s open, the lengthly transformation dance (a tradition to the franchise of course), and that’s about it. The movie version is what sums it up real good in an “oh my swirls” kind of approach because with the girls pulling stuff they’ve never done on TV as well as some surprise guests in store in the film. This film’s worth a hundred Komasans and getting swirly eyed over their cute battle sequences like in the TV series is so nakakagigil.

Sadly, this film is nothing more of a farewell present from the Phantomirage girls and with the newest Girls x Heroine installment ready to take their place, rest assured that this film, even if it’s better late than never due to you-know-what, is the ultimate piece that will make you remember the Phantomirage girls forever. Their time is done but they will always steal our hearts forever.

Thank you, Phantomirage!

My rating: 3.7 out of 5
