DTM 2018: Nurburgring

With only three venues left in the 2018 DTM season, the next race held at the Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit became a weekend of superlatives as last year's champion made some headlines no one saw it coming and because being an Audi driver, this was a surprise drive to Victory Lane.

Last year's DTM champion Rene Rast made headlines by scoring two pole positions and two victories in the Nurburgring leg of the DTM season, a feat almost impossible for DTM drivers. He defeated Spengler and Di Resta at a chaotic Race 1 where Di Resta's involved with an accident with Philipp Eng. Then, he defeated Di Resta and Wittman on Race 2, showing no signs of slowing last year's champion down.

After Nurburgring, Gary Paffett remains in the lead, but he is only two points ahead of Di Resta, 206 vs. 204. Rast is now third in the standings with 149 points.
