- A powerful magnitude 8.7 quake struck the eastern coast of Kamchatka, Russia. Coastal areas from across the Pacific Ocean, including the Philippines, Japan, Guam, US Hawaii, and others, have triggered tsunami warnings in the wake of the quake.

- A gunman who killed four people in New York City's Midtown before killing himself was trying to target the headquarters of the NFL but took the wrong elevator, according to officials. Investigators believe that the 27-year-old gunman, Shane Tamura, was trying to get to the NFL offices after shooting several people in the building's lobby but accidentally entered the wrong set of elevator banks, according to reports.

- Nissan is shutting down its factory in Civac, Mexico, this 2026.
