The Doctor and Belinda's adventure continues in the second episode of Doctor Who Season 2, Lux. This episode has something the Whoniverse should have done a long time ago: a 2D CARTOON CHARACTER!

HOLD IT! Before my quick review, ensure you have already watched the episode. Then, come back here when you have.
The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) arrived at post-war 1952 Miami to check out a cinema shut down due to an unexpected threat lurking inside. After a subtle coffee break, talking to the locals regarding the disappearance in the cinema, the duo investigates the cinema as they search for the cinema's caretaker, Reginald Pye, only to lead to a sinister encounter with the cartoon character Mr. Ring-a-Ding (voiced by Alan Cumming).
The encounter made Mr. Ring-a-Ding uncover his true identity and the familiar laugh The Doctor knows. He is...The God of Light, Lux.
Fleeing from Lux, The Doctor and Belinda met up with Pye and revealed Pye's deal with Lux for the sake of his wife. They even found out what happened to the 15 missing people until Lux slips in for the attack.
Lux's attack turned The Doctor and Belinda into cartoons, but their sadness brought the duo back to normal forms and flipped the frames back to normal, only to get caught by the police called by the lady at the cafe. Due to the anomaly, the duo flipped the frame, knowing that they're still in the film. They've pushed out of the screen, only to end up in the house with Doctor Who fans.
After a conversation, the fans sadly revealed that they're not real and they're be erasing out of existence after flipping the frame, but they've wished The Doctor and Belinda the best of luck defeating Lux and saving the world.
Escaped from the frame, The Doctor and Belinda are locked in a battle against Lux. Caught on film, literally, Lux steals The Doctor's powers for his new form, but all is not lost as sunrise draws near and Belinda asks Pye for matches. Sadly, Pye refused, but he used the matches to blow a hole in the cinema, unleashing sunlight on Lux.
With Lux gone to the universe, the missing patrons are freed. For The Doctor and Belinda, it's mission accomplished, but the journey continues...
A cartoon character in the world of Doctor Who? This is something the Whoniverse should have done a long time ago! Incorporating a 2D cartoon character into Doctor Who is reminiscent of the classic days of films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and the Space Jam movies, where animated characters were blended with live-action scenes.
Despite his terrifying identity as one of the Gods of Ragnarok, Mr. Ring-a-Ding's appearance makes us wish the Whoniverse featured more cartoons to bring some excitement. Nevertheless, we can't get enough of his catchy jingle.
With Mr. Ring-a-Ding behind us, The Doctor and Belinda's journey continues, but Mrs. Flood's recent appearance at the end is another telltale sign of..."the absolute terror" happening soon.
NEXT TIME: It's hell...in The Well.
