Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

2021 really is a big year in the Biohazard (Resident Evil) franchise apart from the fact that it's the franchise's 25th anniversary. They've launched the latest installment titled BIOHAZARD VILLAGE, which is no doubt the most terrifying Biohazard game ever made, as well as the Netflix original series titled Biohazard: Infinite Darkness. Topping off the franchise's silver anniversary is the live-action movie that promises to be as faithful as the first two games it was based on...or is it?

Resident Evil:
Welcome to Raccoon City

Welcome to Raccoon City marks the return of the Biohazard franchise at the movies and it promises not to be a show-off compared to the past Biohazard movies that are more action, some horror. Drawing inspiration from the first two games, Welcome to Raccoon City saw Chris and Claire Redfield trying to uncover the truth behind Raccoon City and the Umbrella Corporation. Chris and members of S.T.A.R.S. are infiltrating the mansion while Claire survives through the zombie-infested Raccoon City with the help of Leon S. Kennedy, a newbie cop whose first day is not what he called a welcoming one.

Every single element from the first two games is almost present in this film in addition to the zombies. From the Umbrella mercenaries, especially Hunk, the Lickers, the test subject named Lisa Trevor, even G. A fitting homage to the first two Biohazard games the world can't get enough of, although the movie feels a bit cheesy for a horror movie.

Yes, it's not massive for horror movie standards but for those who are fans of the Biohazard franchise, it's hard to explain what this movie is all about but either way, despite questionable results, Welcome to Raccoon City is the movie that really is the fitting piece of the franchise's silver anniversary.

Like it or not, if you are a true fan of the Biohazard franchise, be sure to enjoy this movie if you dare.
