F1 2021 - Magyar Nagydij

Will Lewis Hamilton reclaim the top spot of the leaderboards? Will Max Verstappen regain and be ready to pay back for what Hamilton did to him at Silverstone? All of these questions will be answered as the F1 2021 season continues at the Hungaroring for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The race starts with Hamilton on the pole but disaster brews at the start where Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Charles Leclerc, and Lance Stroll got caught in the mess and therefore out of the race. A few minutes later, Lando Norris' day in Hungary is done at the pits following the opening lap carnage. As the race resumes, everyone pits on the formation lap but Lewis Hamilton became the only driver to take the start. After that, Hamilton pits and Esteban Ocon leads. As the race enters its sixth lap, Nikita Mazepin collided with Kimi Raikkonen in the pit lane and he was therefore out of the race while Raikkonen's slapped with a ten-second penalty. As the race progresses with Ocon continues to defend his lead from Aston Martin's Sebastian Vettel, Hamilton's comeback is in full swing as Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo pits, giving the world champion the chance to strike back.

After a seventy-lap drama, Esteban Ocon made headlines by nailing his first career win, a first for the new Alpine F1 team. Sebastian Vettel finished 2nd but he was disqualified because the race stewards were unable to take the required amount of fuel for sampling following the race. This means that Lewis Hamilton, who finished 3rd, is now promoted to 2nd place while Carlos Sainz, who finished 4th, completes the podium as a third placer.

Hamilton finally reclaimed the top spot of the driver standings and he is now 8 points ahead of Verstappen, 195 vs. 187.

The action continues at Spa-Francorchamps for the Rolex Belgian Grand Prix on the 29th of August, 2021.
