THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: President Moon receives briefing from defense, gender equality ministries on 2019 policy

President Moon Jae-in's series of meetings with top officials from South Korea's various ministries are continuing on this Thursday.
He started off at the Ministry of Defense this morning, where he urged the ministry not to rest on its laurels until the peace process is complete, insisting peace can only last when the nation's military forces are strong.
After lunch, he met with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, where the South Korean President stressed the significance of celebrating diversity and the power of tolerance. The briefing was followed by President Moon encouraging the ministry employees by visiting the office in charge of supporting low-income single parents and overcoming discrimination against single mothers

The U.S. special representative for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, paid a visit this morning to the inter-Korean truce village of Panmunjeom.
According to sources at the foreign ministry,Biegun went there to see first-hand how the two Koreas have been implementing their agreements to reduce military tensions at the border.
In September's inter-Korean military agreement, the two Koreas said they would demilitarize and jointly patrol the Joint Security Area.
Both sides have removed arms from the JSA,and are currently discussing how to do the joint patrols.
The senior U.S. envoy, however, is reportedly not planning to meet North Korean officials.
Later Thursday,Biegun will hold a meeting on North Korean nuclear issues with his South Korean counterpart, Lee Do-hoon.
