MNL48 teams assembled

With the MNL48 all set last week with Sheki as the center girl, just as we thought that it's finally over now that the Philippine sister group of AKB48 is all set, we were very wrong because this week is all about assembling teams by Teams MII, NIV, and L, and the endgame is where the girls will get to pick who's their overall Group Captain.

During the course of this so-called "Team Captain Election", there has been a departure of Kenkyuusei members as recently appointed Kenkyuusei members such as Ann, Celine, Nix, Reiko, Reina, and Kana. With six Kenkyuusei members bid the MNL48 farewell, the remaining members get to pick who's their captain. By AKS standards, members vote for who will be their captain and after the votes tallied, the one with the highest votes has a choice whether to accept the responsibility of being the team captain.

Complicating the agreement maybe, the members who voted by the girls as team captains managed to rise up to their new challenge. For the Kenkyuusei, they named Arol as their team captain.

Anyway, let's get to know who are the members of Team MII, NIV, and L. Those highlighted in bold are named Captain.

MII: Alice, Cess, Dana, Erica, Essel, Faith, Jan, Mai, Necca, Nice, Sayaka, Sha, Shaina, Sheki, Trixie, and Van.

NIV: Abby, Aly, Alyssa, Belle, Brei, Daryll, Ecka, Ella, Hazel, Jaydee, Jem, Joyce, Lara, Madie, Ruth, and Zen.

L: Ash, Dian, Gabb, Gia, Grace, Jewel, Kay, Kyla, Lei, Mari, Princess, Quincy, Sela, Shaina, Thea, and Tin.

So, Alice is named Team MII captain. Ecka as Team NIV captain, and Kay as Team L captain. Question is who is the overall Group Captain, the one in charge of all three teams? The answer is, after nailing a landslide win and accepted the terms, it was Alice who assumed responsibility as Group Captain.

Now that the teams are assembled, what's next in store for the newly reformed MNL48 and what was become for the remaining Kenkyuusei? Keep watching MNL48 online updates Mondays to Saturdays for more.

MNL48 General Election begins as this week's top 7 announced

Ever since this project started years ago, the MNL48 is established to become the Philippine sister group of Japan's biggest idol girl group AKB48 and throughout this four-month journey, we witness the numbers narrowed down from the top 200 to the top 48 and top 48 aspirants faced many challenges not to mention the arrival of new challengers that will put their talents to the test.

And now, here we are, the end is near for the search of the first generation and the top 48 aspirants are on the verge of success as the General Election will take place this April 28 and starting now, all votes are back to zero and users will vote only one Oshi until the 27th. If they're unsure about their choice, they can either change their Oshi until the deadline or stick with their choice to the very end.

As we are familiar with, those who are named as "Kami 7" will be given international training by AKS, the production company behind AKB48 and its sister groups. Also, whoever make it to the number one spot will be the "center girl" that will rise above all Oshis and become the poster girl of MNL48 worldwide.

Anyway, no time for explanations, on to what happened today. So far, the top seven of the week are, in descending order, Gabb, Tin, Trixie, Alice, Sheki, Eunice, and Abby. But the biggest surprise is the battle between last week's bottom seven and against the seven new challengers that the bottom seven are clashing against. Here's the thing, if the seven new challengers won the battle, they will overtake the bottom seven to become part of the top 48 but if the bottom seven wins, their positions are saved.

And with the margin of .27 percent, which is a close call of course, 74.96 vs. 74.69, the bottom seven managed to defeat the seven new challengers, saving their positions and their glory road to the general election begins.

With this week's top seven named and last week's bottom seven saved, the final fight to become "Kami 7" has just begun and users have until the 27th to vote one of their favorite aspirants. Until then, keep watching ITS SHOWTIME and MNL48 Online Update for more of your favorite aspirants.

Some say, their exam scores might decide the fate if they are going to stay or get eliminated on Saturday. EB's Broadway Boys performed their first original song

What started as four boys who did very well in Eat Bulaga's Lola's Playlist segment years ago, now became the sensation that have been performing the greatest hits every Saturday afternoon, the Broadway Boys have done it again by performing us, for the first time on Philippine television, their very first original song.

Photo: Official Eat Bulaga Twitter

The Broadway Boys consist of four boys who did well in Lola's Playlist years ago such as Joshua Lumbao, Joshua Torino, Benedict Aboyme, and the boy who won that segment, Francis Aglabtin. Every Saturday, they've performed us with the greatest hits of local and foreign songs in the past, especially those from music's greatest legends from the last century.

Recently, they've performed alongside Jamie Rivera, the self-styled queen of inspirational music, and after that, the Broadway Boys performed their first original single composed by Senator Tito Sotto. It's titled "Nag-Iisa" and as the as the song states, we are not alone in times of challenges.

Their original song will be coming soon on Spotify and iTunes so watch for it, but in the meantime, let's take a moment of gratitude to say how heartwarming the Broadway Boys performed because they really nailed the sweet spot to show the world what the Broadway Boys are capable of, so well done, Broadway Boys. The Dabarkads are very proud of you.

Eat Bulaga presents Love Is...

October is what is known to be the best month for AlDub Nations. Two years ago, the world witnessed the phenomenal love team in the world's biggest indoor arena for the Sa Tamang Panahon concert. Then last year, the world witnessed the Kalyeserye wedding. Now, for 2017, the phenomenal love team has in store for them with an Eat Bulaga TV special titled Love Is...

Photo: Official EB Facebook Page

Before we got into AlDub's latest offering for the whole world to see, first, the Broadway Boys are performing The Eagles' greatest hits and after that weekly session with the Broadway Boys, some Barangay Jokes and Sugod Bahay segments, and it's the big one. It's the event special that was directed by Adolf Alix Jr.

Love Is... centers on the story of a young woman named Vi (played by Maine Mendoza) who is ready to marry a man named Marco (played by Alden Richards). Before the planned wedding, Vi had a fortunate life until all her luck just ran out when her father is suffering from a life-threatening disease but even worse, she had fell from the scam.

As tragedy slowly eating her life around, Vi is suffering from depression and unaware of her life-threatening situation, only Marco can truly understand the situation and set her free from the sadness lurking around her.

This special taught us a valuable lesson about depression while it fills the blank of what love really is. Still, with this special, it's the definitive point that AlDub is here to stay, no matter what happens to them.

Hope you folks enjoyed the TV special, and congratulations for Mr. and Mrs. Ernesto Montaniel for the successful wedding!

AlDub - Two Years on...

Photo: Official Eat Bulaga Facebook

It all began in the 16th of July, 2015, when Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza made her first impression with Alden Richards during the Problem Solving segment of Eat Bulaga via split screen and a few moments later, Kalyeserye was born much to the jubilee of the public, which became later known as the AlDub Nation.

As an AlDub Nation, named for the legion of AlDub fans from all corners of the globe, everyone forget about what's going on around here and they only focus on the AlDub antics in Eat Bulaga. Whether from their Dabarkads Pa More performance, the kidnappings, dates, treasure hunting, copycats, a visit to Enchanted Kingdom, post-war romance flashback, their Lenten Specials' performance, any AlDub moment you can think of, as well as their Philippine Arena performance since October 24th, 2015, the phenomenal love team has been shattering so many records, our heads are spinning endlessly.

It's not just their EB antics that the phenomenal love team are good at, it's the other stuff outside EB is what made them great. They appeared in two films such as My Bebe Love #KiligPaMore and last year's Imagine You and Me. After that, they once had a TV series of their own titled Destined To Be Yours. which lasted from March to May of this year. Easier done than said.

Now, here we are, two years later, and despite things getting uglier, our love for AlDub is still stronger than ever and when our minds still stuck over AlDub, we forget our worries and stay happy, no matter the odds.

Happy 2nd anniversary to AlDub and let's hope that forever stays FOREVER.

Since last year, ABS-CBN's hit noontime show, IT'S SHOWTIME, revived the legendary talent search programme Tawag Ng Tanghalan as their segment everyone's tuning in everyday.

Throughout a year of searching the best of amateur talents across the Philippines, it's not about how good their singing talents are but it's about how long they can defend their status as a champion until they can be classified as fit to be part of the hall of fame and dish each other for the grand prize in the finale.

And here it is. At the grand finale held at Resorts World Manila, a grand champion has been named from the six finalists and Noven Belleza is the grand winner of the show's Tawag Ng Tanghalan segment.

The baptism of AlDub babies and a farewell to Kalyeserye

Photo: Official Eat Bulaga Facebook page
Last week, Alden and Maine gave birth to the twins named Charmaine Nidora and Richard Nidoro. Now, after a few days (or months in Kalyeserye standards) later, the AlDub babies finally getting the baptismal the Richards deserved. Baptismal aside, looks like this could be the end as the lolas and the Richards are going through separate ways.

The main reason why they'll be going through separate ways is because as while the Richards are taking their babies to Russia to go see Lola Babah, the lolas are going to America once again to make amends with their relatives. So, after everything they did on the baptismal, here it is (again). That's how Kalyeserye ended.

It's like a few months ago, just. But still, the baptism of Charmaine Nidora and Richard Nidoro, the AlDub babies, is their way of saying goodbye to Kalyeserye. Thank you for the great moments in Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye segment. We hope they will come back one day for their antics again.

AlDub's wedding anniversary, sorta

Photo: Official Eat Bulaga Facebook

We know that they've been married by a month but by Kalyeserye standards, it's AlDub's wedding anniversary!

But first, the lolas invited beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez as their honorary Inday Henyo and showcased their Inday Henyo recipe called "Gotcha...Healthy Veggie Frittata!"

So, how do you cook this meal? All you need is a tablespoon of butter or margarine, a cup of sliced mushrooms, 1/2 cup green and/or chopped red peppers, 1/3 cup chopped onion, 12 eggs, 1/4 cup water. Procedures?
  1. Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add mushrooms, peppers, and onion, then saute until tender.
  2. Pour egg mixture over vegetables in the frying pan cover and cook over medium heat.
  3. When bottom is cooked and top is almost set, finish cooking the frittata on the stove top by covering it with a lid for a few minutes, or flip it over in the pan to cook the top part. Cook for a few minutes until it is cooked.
  4. Cut into wedges and serve.

With the "Gotcha...Healthy Veggie Frittata", made by our honorary Inday Henyo served, it's time for Alden and Maine to do their thing in honor of their wedding "anniversary."

HIGHLIGHTS:

One question remains...is Maine positive?! Keep watching Eat Bulaga for more Kalyeserye antics!

Kalyeserye goes cooking!

Photo: Official Eat Bulaga Facebook Page
Long before the recently married couple of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza heading off to a distant place for their honeymoon, they are doing some goodwill stuff with a little help of the That's My Baes, the stars of their recent TV drama show Trops, which airs weekdays before Eat Bulaga.

While they are preparing the relief goods to be sent for the benefit of those who are heavily affected by Supertyphoon Lawin (Haima), the two are decided to do their own special pasta recipe they called it "Pasta Ikaw, Nangiginig pa!"

So, care to see how its done? Let's watch...

Or in case you want their recipe, here's the list of ingredients...

1) Butter
2) Chopped onions
3) All-Purpose Cream
4) Canned Tomatoes (Chopped)
5) Penne Rigate Pasta
6) Mozzarella Cheese (Diced-small)

...and here's how to make one:

1) Heat butter on pan
2) Sautee chopped onions

The Kalyeserye Wedding

After a whole year of witnessing their split-screen escapades with none other than the world famous AlDub, they finally got the happily ever after they deserved as the most awaited wedding even on live television, which is the Kalyeserye wedding of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, became successful, only just.

Long before the wedding starts, everyone's just wondering that which one that will "not happen" as mentioned yesterday and it turned out to be a "honeymoon" at a foreign country but some rearrangements have been made so their honeymoon would take place somewhere else and that sounds like a relief.

With every principal sponsors in place, with a special participation from veteran actress Helen Gamboa and news reporter Mike Enriquez,  this wedding became one heck of a historical event for the AlDub Nations everywhere who witnessed the big event. Just when we thought that Lola Nidora stopped Maine in the middle of the "kiss" part, we thought it's going to be ended on a "to be continued" note but that's just a minor setback for Lola Nidora and everything goes as planned. With everything's normal after that, AlDub got kissed! It's the kiss seen round the world!

Watch the whole story unfold:

Well, that was some kind of a predicament happening here but still, the wedding is a success, spectacularly, and massive congratulations to AlDub for their historic wedding as seen on TV.

Best wishes, Alden & Yaya Dub!

The Return of Kalyeserye

Photo: Official Eat Bulaga Facebook Page

Yes, you heard it very correctly. After weeks of waiting, Kalyeserye's back in Eat Bulaga and today sees the return of Lola Nidora, Lola Tidora, and Lola Tinidora in the mansion as they are invited to a pamanhikan of Alden and Maine. Believe it or not, AlDub's engaged and the proof is on their engagement rings. Lola Babah was present as well and she was impressed upon hearing the announcement.

WATCH:

So, with everyone very happy about the recent pamanhikan, another big news has arrived and yes, they're not joking (or are they?), AlDub's getting married! But the question is when? When will their wedding take place?

That's one question that needs to be answered soon so keep watching Eat Bulaga every weekdays for more Kalyeserye antics!

The Kalyeserye farewell...presumably

Photo: Official EB Facebook

The Kalyeserye segment on Eat Bulaga has been one heck of a household name on every Filipinos' hearts and minds. It's not just the shindig viewers witnessed everyday, and it's not even the AlDub antics we all love, but it's about what the lolas up to, just to show what Kalyeserye's all about.

Now, here we are, at that very moment when Alden and Maine say goodbye to Lola Nidora and Tinidora. Before they gone through separate ways, they got succumbed to the fun from the internet videos featuring Maine and her male equivalent named Motoki.

Anyway, after their little funtime, the gang thorw the lolas a farewell party and after one heck of a farewell party, it's time. It's time that the lolas packed their bags and going abroad. Kinda sad to see them go but before the farewell, Lola Nidora has some last words to everyone before they said goodbye. "BABALA! We Shall Return!"

Guess this is goodbye to Kalyeserye as we know it but just like what Lola Nidora said, WE SHALL RETURN!

See you soon!

Baste's Birthday Concert!

Photo: Official EB Facebook

Today is the 4th birthday of Eat Bulaga's favorite concert king, their very own BAE-by Baste and our favorite little Dabarkad just had the biggest birthday bash he ever had, literally! We all thought that's not going to happen because of that truck horn we heard at the end of the Kalyeserye segment but it did happened. Fans witnessed the best of Baste as well as a musical number alongside presenter Vic Sotto and some cakes offered for him. Looks like he really wants MORE of this birthday bash.

If you missed his big birthday bash or if you like to watch it again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDr9-hkOtfM

Francis Aglabtin is Lola's Playlist Ultimate Winner

Source: Official EB
Facebook Page

Over the months, we've seen kids from across the nation serenading us, even Lola Nidora, with hit songs from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, in a segment titled Lola's Playlist on Eat Bulaga. On this day, this is the grand finals of the competition that gave us the LSS or Lumang Song Syndrome, enriching our newfound love for hit classic songs from the last century.

The grand finals pit three young boys; Francis Aglabtin, Benedict Aboyme, and Joshua Torino, for one last time in the ultimate battle to be crowned as the ultimate winner in the grand finals.

In the end, although unsure about what plot twist Lola Nidora said yesterday, there can be only one and the winner is...Francis Aglabtin!

Congratulations to Francis Aglabtin for being the ultimate winner in the grand finals of Eat Bulaga's Lola's Playlist!
