- A Chinese rocket may have caused the unusual light seen in various parts of the Philippines on April 11, 2026. The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) stated that the Jielong-3 rocket was launched from the South China Sea at around 7:32 p.m., shortly before the light appeared. This phenomenon, known as a “space jellyfish,” occurs when sunlight illuminates a rocket's plume at high altitude, creating a jellyfish-shaped glow in twilight. PhilSA assures the public that this is a normal occurrence and poses no threat.
