- The PBBM administration named Rafael Consing Jr. as the president and CEO of Maharlika Investment Corporation.

- A passenger ship carrying 448 passengers and four rolling cargoes tilted on its side while sailing off Misamis Oriental last night. Coast Guard personnel managed to assist the passengers and cargo safely, with the said ship safely returned to the Cagayan de Oro port. The Maritime Industry Authority suspended the passenger ship safety certificate of the MV Filipinas Cagayan de Oro.

- Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV accused former PH president Rodrigo Duterte of supporting efforts to destabilize and stage a coup against the PBBM administration.

- The World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says the main hospital in Gaza is no longer functioning, therefore the situation at Al-Shifa is dire and perilous. The International Committee of the Red Cross says Gaza is rapidly approaching a humanitarian disaster.

- The French Prime Minister leads a march in support of the Jewish community, which was boycotted by the far-left purportedly for being pro-Israeli.

- A key bridge in the Sudanese capital Khartoum has been destroyed.

- Protests occurred in parts of Spain against a plan to grant amnesty to Catalan separatists in exchange for supporting a new term for the socialist-led government.

- Off-road legend and Extreme E driver Kyle LeDuc passed away at the age of 42. LeDuc participated in the 2022 Extreme E season representing Chip Ganassi GMC Hummer EV team alongside Sara Price. He and Price won last Season 2's NEOM Island X Prix I in Sardinia. LeDuc claimed seven Pro 4 championships including Pro including pair of Pro Lite titles, three Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series challenge cups, two Pro 4 world championships, and two LOORRS driver of the year titles.

- An anime adaptation of the John Wick movie franchise is in the works.

- New episodes of the Netflix cartoon Sonic Prime are coming this January 11th.
