- According to the NGCP, Luzon is on red alert from 1300 to 1600 hours and 1800 to 2000 hours Manila time. The yellow alert will be from 1600 to 1800 hours Manila time. Five power plants are currently experiencing forced outages while three other plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 1,354MW unavailable to the grid.

- A fire broke out at Sipac-Almacen, Navotas.

- PH President Bongbong Marcos is en route to Indonesia to attend the ASEAN summit.

- GCash issued a statement regarding the glitch that many netizens are currently experiencing. They extended their maintenance allegedly because of hacking and clarified that their system was not hacked.

- US President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy are aiming to break the debt-ceiling standoff as the default crisis looms. Right now, the US Federal Reserve says overall funding risks for banks remain low and firms still have ample liquidity.

- The Canadian province of Alberta issued an emergency alert for the area of Sunchild and O'Chiese First Nations due to four "armed and dangerous" individuals in that area.

- Former Sudan foreign minister Mariam al Sadiq Al Mahdi doubts a proper ceasefire is possible, saying the level of mistrust is too deep.

- CBS uncanceled SWAT as the series got renewed for its seventh and final season. Meanwhile, shows like True Lies and East New York got canceled.

- Grace Bumbry, one of the first African Americans to become a star of international opera, died in Vienna at the age of 86.
