- Philippine President Bongbong Marcos said to the economic leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the Philippines is now part of the "VIP Club", which is a list of ASEAN countries with best-performing economies alongside Vietnam and Indonesia.

- COMELEC Chairman George Garcia says he's "very sure" about moving forward with the 2023 barangay and SK elections as they're aiming to finish printing the ballots by February.

- The suspect in the shooting in Monterey Park in Los Angeles that killed 10 people and hurt 12 was found dead by the police. Police confirmed that the suspect killed himself inside a white van that police officers have surrounded.

- Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is visiting South Africa for the first time since the invasion of Ukraine last year that Pretoria refused to condemn.

- US President Joe Biden says that the fight for abortion rights is not over as he commemorates the 50th anniversary of Roe v Wade.

- The energy ministry in Pakistan says that large parts of the country are without electricity following a breakdown in the national grid. Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore are without power.
