FIA WTCR 2022: Race of Bahrain

In a shocking detour, the 2022 FIA World Touring Car Cup made its Middle Eastern debut in Bahrain for the first-ever Race of Bahrain event. In case you forgot, the current season replaced its Asian races with the final two races of the season held in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia this November. This explains a lot.

Right now, Mikel Azcona remains in the lead with 241 points, 35 points ahead of Girolami, while Huff's in 3rd with 187 points, In the team standings, meanwhile, the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse remains in the lead with 368 points. With the season back in action with the penultimate leg held for the first time in Bahrain, it's time to find out who's got the fighting edge on the Gulf.

The first race of the first-ever Race of Bahrain saw a 1-2 finish for the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team with Mikel Azcona the winner and Norbert Michelisz the second placer. The second race, meanwhile, saw Michelisz outrun Esteban Guerrieri for the win at Bahrain.

After Bahrain, Mikel Azcona leads at 297 points, 60 points ahead of Nestor Girolami, while Nathanael Berthon's in third place with 200 points.
