- Four Ukrainian regions controlled partly or wholly by Russian forces have begun referendums on joining the Russian Federation. Ukraine says this referendum, supported by Russian leader Vladimir Putin, has no legal basis.

- A former senior official in China has been given the suspended death sentence in a run-off of next month's political meeting.

- Lebanese authorities said that about 50 people drowned when a boat carrying migrants sank off the coast of Syria.

- Sri Lanka is holding talks with creditors as it begins the process of restructuring debt that led to the worst economic crisis in decades.

- Nicolas Latifi announced that he will leave Williams Racing after the F1 22 season.

- Renault showcased the R5 Turbo 3E concept that packs a 280kw electric powertrain.


- GAC unveiled the first-ever AION Hyper SSR electric supercar, which is powered by a High-Energy-Density NCM lithium-ion Traction Battery and High-Performance Dual E-Motor, capable of producing over 1,200hp of power and 12,000Nm of peak torque. It will be produced and delivered in late 2023 at the price of 1.286M RMB.



- Former Produce 101 contestant Jeong Joong Ji has died. He was 30 years old. According to his mother, he allegedly committed suicide.

- Former UCLA guard Greg Lee dies at the age of 70. Lee helped the UCLA team to consecutive national championships in 1972 and '73 as a starting guard under coach John Wooden.
