F1 2022: Azerbaijan Grand Prix

As the world glues to the conclusion of this year's Le Mans race, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix of the F1 22 season is a time-passer worth seeing as the drivers are in the middle of a street fight in Baku.

As the lights went off, the action in Baku begins with Max Verstappen hunting down Charles Leclerc by all means. As the two engaged in a duel, Lap 9 saw Carlos Sainz throw in the towel due to mechanical failures with his vehicle. On Lap 13, Sebastian Vettel's clash with Esteban Ocon ended him dropping to 12th place. As the race reached its 20th lap, it was over for Leclerc as smoke comes out of his vehicle and called for a retreat. A double whammy for Ferrari. Three laps later, Zhou Guanyu's out of the race due to technical issues. Lap 33 saw Kevin Magnussen facing engine troubles and told him to switch off the engine, ergo unleashing the Virtual Safety Car. As the race resumes, Yuki Tsunoda's facing troubles with his rear wing following a charge by Lewis Hamilton, and he was forced to enter the pits for repairs. As the race nears its climax, it's a "go for broke" fight to the finish.

In the end, it's a 1-2 finish for Red Bull with Max Verstappen the winner and Sergio Perez in 2nd place. George Russell, meanwhile, completes the podium with a 3rd place finish.

After Baku, Verstappen remains in the lead with 150 points while Perez jumped to 2nd with 129 points and Leclerc, following his in-race disaster, drops to 3rd with 116 points.

The next race of the F1 22 season will be the AWS Grand Prix du Canada on June 19th.
