- The Malacanang urges the public and other countries to believe what the government and the police are saying about the Duterte administration's controversial drug war, saying this government doesn't lie. Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the statement after the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted Iceland’s resolution to probe the human rights situation in the Philippines under the controversial drug war. The resolution was backed by 17 other countries.

- The Department of Health declared a “National Dengue Alert” following the rapidly increasing cases of dengue in several regions.

- The Commission on Human Rights has cited the Duterte administration for its efforts to provide ample shelter to families affected by the Marawi City siege.

- US President Donald Trump tweets racist attacks on Democratic congresswomen, falsely implying they weren't natural-born American citizens.

- Two people were killed when a strong quake struck eastern Indonesia, damaging at least dozens of homes, according to reports. The magnitude 7.3 quake yesterday was centered 166 kilometers southeast of Ternate, the capital of North Maluku province, at a depth of just 10 kilometers. Shallow quakes can cause more damage.

- A meeting in Washington between US President Donald Trump and his Guatemalan counterpart Jimmy Morales purportedly over a potential “safe third country” agreement for asylum seekers has been canceled, according to an official.

Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam said protesters involved in the latest clashes with the police could be described as “rioters” and that she supported police upholding the law and seeking those responsible.
