- The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring a low pressure area outside the country that may intensify into a tropical depression in the next few days. PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the LPA, which was estimated at 1,385 kilometers east-southeast of Mindanao Thursday morning, may enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday.

- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to push for closer regional cooperation on sustainable development and connectivity when he attends a summit in Thailand this weekend.

- Misamis Oriental 2nd district Rep. Juliette Uy said the public to calm down and let the Philippine Coast Guard address the June 9 West Philippine Sea incident that led to the sinking of a Philippine fishing boat. “The Philippine Coast Guard has started its work on the case. I believe all the national authorities must respect the jurisdiction of the PCG on this, so they should all step back to let PCG do its work well,” Rep. Uy said.

- Democratic lawmakers demanded clarity about the Trump administration’s position on the use of military force as they sought answers on how the White House plans to address rising tensions with Iran.

- Pro-government forces in Nicaragua committed human rights abuses including torture in suppressing recent protests against President Daniel Ortega, and top officials should face sanctions, according to Human Rights Watch.

- Mexico ratified the new North American trade agreement, making the country the first to give it final approval despite recent tension with the US. The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) passed in the Mexican Senate with 114 votes in favor and just four against, sending what the government called “a clear message in favor of an open economy and deepening economic integration in the region.”

- Anthony Davis of Los Angeles Lakers as well as Damian Lillard of Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson is reportedly joining the Space Jam 2 cast, among many other basketball players named in the report.

- Detectives investigating the death of Cardiff signing Emiliano Sala have arrested an individual on suspicion of manslaughter by an unlawful act, the Dorset (England) Police Department announced.
