- In the recent partial official tally, reelectionist Senator JV Ejercito has kicked Bam Aquino out of the top 12. The pro-administration bet landed at 11th spot with 6,079,028 votes.

- Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. ordered the pullout of all of the Philippine envoys in Canada following the delay in the shipment of garbage back to the North American country. The recall order is despite a large number of Filipinos residing and working in Canada. DFA data as of December 2017 showed that there are 892,481 Filipino workers in the North American country, equivalent to about 2.4% of its total population.

- Outgoing Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista stressed that the city’s ties with other Asian countries are key factors that made the locality maintain its status as a green city.

- Republican Senator Ted Cruz said that it was important to fund the Trump administration's "Space Force" in order to prevent possible space pirates.
