- A magnitude 6.5 quake rocked Eastern Samar, almost a day following the M6.1 quake that rocked Zambales. The earthquake’s epicenter was located 19 kilometers west of San Julian, Eastern Samar, Phivolcs said in an advisory. Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said there is no threat of a tsunami as the quake hit the landmass. He added that Tuesday’s quake was not related to Monday’s 6.1-magnitude quake in Luzon.

- The head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines has offered prayers for the victims of the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit several parts of the country Monday.

- Phivolcs advised the public to refrain from circulating false info about impending quake in Metro Manila online. The online post claimed that a 100-kilometer fault line will trigger the powerful earthquake. Phivolcs explained that part of the viral message was lifted from Phivolcs’ Oplan Yakal Plus, a contingency plan meant to describe the possible severe impacts of a powerful earthquake triggered by the movement of the West Valley Fault System.
