- The principal accused in the Maguindanao massacre case had asked a Quezon City court to permit him to present additional witnesses in support of his surrebuttal evidence in relation to the 58 counts of murder filed against him. Through his counsel Atty. Ernest Levanza, principal accused Andal Ampatuan Jr. filed an Omnibus Motion before Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 instead of the memorandum which the court had ordered him to submit within 15 days.

- Independent candidate Senator Grace Poe maintained her lead in the senatorial race in the latest Pulse Asia survey.

- PH Congress has approved on second reading a bill seeking to declare the Polytechnic University of the Philippines as the National Polytechnic University.

- The European Union offered the United Kingdom a six-month delay to its Brexit departure Thursday, apparently saving the continent from a chaotic no-deal departure at the end of the week. Should Prime Minister Theresa May accepts the extension and London remains in the EU after May 22, British voters will have to take part in European parliamentary elections.

- US President Donald Trump signed two executive orders making it harder for states to block oil and gas pipeline projects because of environmental concerns.  The orders were prompted by fossil fuel industry pressure after officials in New York and Washington state had stopped new projects with permitting processes in recent years.

- India’s gargantuan election, the biggest in history, kicks off on Thursday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a second term from the South Asian behemoth’s 900 million voters.

- Anguish mixed with anger at the funeral of a Brazilian musician shot dead by soldiers in Rio de Janeiro, with mourners blaming far-right President Jair Bolsonaro and the military.

- The first real image of the black hole has now been made public for the first time.

- Motor Trend announced that they will make a US version of the hit motoring TV show Top Gear exclusively on the MT website.

- According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the chances of increasing the number of teams at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is 50/50.
