Alita: Battle Angel

The master filmmaker behind the record-breaking masterpieces such as Titanic and Avatar returns for his newest masterpiece, in collaboration with Robert Rodriguez, that has been attracted many anime websites for whatever reasons and while it has no anime connections whatsoever, there are so many reasons why Alita: Battle Angel, could be your next favorite film of the year.

Alita: Battle Angel
Anticipated to be one of the most-talked films in the winter season, Rosa Salazar plays the titular character who doesn't remember who she really is in the not-too-distant future she doesn't recognize. With a scientist who took care of Alita trying to uncover her origins, the cyborg without a past struggles to uncover her truth while battling against numerous enemies across Iron City.

This film draws inspiration from a Japanese manga titled Gunnm by Yukito Kishiro and Alita suffers the same problem as Edge Of Tomorrow a few years ago and that is drawing too much heat from the anime world even though this film has no anime connections whatsoever. At least this is how the West ruined the meaning of anime by jamming irrelevant stuff like this but despite being irrelevant in the anime world, this coming-of-age action film really has a big heart even though its enveloped with intense fighting scenes drawing inspiration from action animes.

The end result is a film that serves as a tour de force among sci-fi action flicks and it captivates viewers of all ages with all of its cinematic glory and a strong message to strong, independent, women who can overcome life's biggest challenges by all means. It's inspirational, thrilling, surprising, and by such standards, epic by all means.

Although this film suffers the same "I'm not anime material" dilemma as Edge Of Tomorrow, Alita is hands-down one of the must watch films of the winter season and you can't add more words to its brilliance.

My rating: 4.2 out of 5
