- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency formally filed criminal charges against personalities in connection with the shabu shipment concealed in the magnetic lifters by its agents and other law enforcement groups at the Manila International Container Port on August 7, 2018.

- The Armed Forces of the Philippines' Hijab Troopers program goes nationwide following their successful deployment during last year's Marawi siege. Colonel Romeo Brawner Jr., head of the Civil Military Operations Regiment, said the women in uniform will be deployed in core areas in the National Capital Region, namely CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela City) and Maharlika Village in Taguig City to provide cultural and psychosocial services in urban communities.

- Bureau of Immigration officials and Clark Development Corporation apprehended 45 Chinese and 24 Koreans illegally working without appropriate visas.

- ICYMI: During US President Donald Trump's meeting with his Vice President Mike Pence and top Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi yesterday, the President threatened for another government shutdown if he doesn't get funding for his border wall. The US Senate extended their deadline to fund the full government until December 21st, Republicans hoping that the threat of the holiday shutdown will be enough to convince Democrats to cave on border wall funding and Trump even floated the idea of sweetening the deal by offering protection for DREAMers in exchange.

- American diplomats affected by mysterious health incidents in Cuba showed damage in the inner ear shortly after they complained of weird noises and sensations, according to their earliest medical exams, publicized Wednesday.

- Canada should distance itself from US “hegemonism” and grant unconditional freedom to Meng Wanzhou, a Chinese executive detained in Vancouver on Washington’s request, the state-owned tabloid Global Times said in a Thursday editorial.

- A second Canadian was being questioned by China after Beijing earlier this week detained a former Canadian diplomat, according to Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland.

- The United States accused China for the massive hack of data from hotel giant Marriott, part of an ongoing global campaign of cyber-theft run by Beijing. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed to Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” program that the government believes China masterminded the Marriott data theft.

- Malaysian carmaker Proton has launched the first-ever X70 crossover. Essentially a rebadged Geely Boyue, the X70 is fully imported from China and will be produced in Malaysia as a CKD next year. It's powered by a 1.8L T-GDi engine producing 181hp of power and 285Nm of torque, mated by a 6-speed AT. Prices start at 99,000 Malaysian Ringgit.
