- A new Low Pressure Area has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility today and will likely enhance the habagat within the next few days. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration estimated the location of the LPA at 1,240km east of Basco, Batanes around Wednseday morning. It has a slim chance of becoming a cyclone, which to be named Neneng when intensified.

- The Makati Regional Trial Court set the hearing on the Department of Justice's motion to reopen the cases and issue an arrest warrant against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on the 13th of September. This came after the amnesty given to him was invalidated by no less than Pres. Duterte. Trillanes is a known critic of the president.

- Grab Philippines won't reimburse passengers who were charged with a two peso per minute fare but its 10 million peso penalty for imposing the "unauthorized" travel time rate still stands. This was after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has “partially granted” the appeal of Grab to reconsider its implementation of the P2 per minute travel time charge.

- The first day of the confirmation hearing process of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanuagh kicked off as Republicans aim to swiftly confirm President Trump's second Supreme Court nominee and Democrats demand more answers and more time.

- Tropical Storm Gordon made landfall Tuesday night on the US Gulf Coast along the border of Alabama and Mississippi as hurricane warnings remained in place. Authorities declared a state of emergency in both states as well as in the city of New Orleans in Louisiana — devastated in 2005 by mega hurricane Katrina.

- Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg said that the leading social network and other internet firms are in an arms race to defend democracy. Zuckerberg’s Washington Post op-ed came on the eve of hearings during which lawmakers are expected to grill top executives from Facebook and Twitter.

- Some 300 Venezuelans gathered outside of their country’s embassy in Peru shouting “We want to leave!” after President Nicolas Maduro offered to airlift migrants who wanted to return back to their homeland.

- The first offering of Mercedes EQ electric car range, the EQC crossover, was unveiled. To be on sale this mid-2019, the EQC's electric powertrain features compact electric drivetrains at each angle with the front motors made for efficiency while the rear motors made for dynamic performance. Together, they produce 300kW of power and 765Nm of torque.
