- Urban poor group KADAMAY criticized the alleged surveillance by the Philippine National Police amid the police and military’s claims that some groups are conniving to oust President Duterte next month through an operation dubbed as “Red October.”

- The Land Transportation Office advised the public not to patronize fake government identifications cards following the confiscation of over 300 fake license cards in separate entrapment operations along Recto Avenue in Manila this month.

- The Liberal Party unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the continued political persecution of opposition Senator Leila M. de Lima and creating a task group to support her legal, legislative, and other work-related concerns.

- According to Senator John Cornyn, a member of the Republican leadership and the Judiciary Committee, the Committee could vote on SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh as early as Friday.

- Vietnam's late President Tran Dai Quang was mourned as a great loss and praised for his contributions to his country at his funeral Wednesday. Long lines of family members, officials including General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, police and soldiers streamed through the National Funeral House in downtown Hanoi. Some wept as they passed his flag-draped coffin.

- Warning that the world has a bad case of “trust deficit disorder” and risks “runaway climate change,” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged global leaders Tuesday to abandon unilateralism and reinvigorate cooperation as the only way to tackle the challenges and threats of increasingly chaotic times. US President Donald Trump, however, defended his America-first policy, rejecting “global governance, control and domination.” He said he expects other nations to honor America’s sovereignty in return.

- Macedonians will head to the polls to vote this September 30th on whether to add "North" to their country's official name. The name-change is an effort to overcome a 27-year-old argument with neighboring Greece, which has refused to recognize Macedonia’s name since the Balkan country declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.

- Volvo unveiled the new V60 Cross Country which is 75mm taller than the standard V60 thanks to its specially developed chassis and suspension.
