- Scattered rains will continue to pour over parts of Luzon due to Habagat over the weekend, while the weather disturbances monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility are moving away and have no effect on most parts of the nation, according to PAGASA.

- Photos of garbage floating around the Secret Lagoon in El Nido, Palawan went viral last night. The pictures were shared on Facebook by Ianna Reyes who visited the tourist spot. The netizen also shared a clip showing garbage collectors gathering trash in the lagoon.

- A Xiamen Airlines plane landed on its belly last night at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The incident happened at 11:55 p.m., when Xiamen Air flight MF8667 “went off the runway during heavy downpour,” the Manila International Airport Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said in a joint statement released Friday morning.

- A museum featuring a collection of presidential cars will be opened in Quezon City on the 19th of August, coinciding with Manuel Luis Quezon's 140th birthday. Mayor Herbert Bautista will lead the inauguration and opening of the museum located near the Quezon City Experience Museum at the city’s Quezon Memorial Circle with National Historical Commission of the Philippines Executive Director Ludovico Badoy.

- The operator of the bridge that collapse in Genoa, Italy, is under fire by Italy's populist government as rescuers toil for third day. Anger is mounting over the tragedy and the structural problems that have dogged the decades-old Morandi bridge, which buckled without warning on Tuesday, sending about 35 cars and several trucks plunging 45 meters (150 feet) onto railway tracks below along with huge chunks of concrete.
