- Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog was fired from his post by the Office of the Ombudsman following his on leave and said to be out of the country after being linked to drugs by President Duterte as well as his "unlawful acquisition of wealth."

- The Philippine National Police imposed a 15-day gun ban in preparation for November's ASEAN summit. PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa has approved the recommendation of National Capital Regional Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde to suspend the permit to carry firearms outside residence from Nov. 1 to 15.

- Paolo Duterte, the son of President Rodrigo Duterte and Davao City Vice Mayor, will retire from politics when his term ends in 2019 but his sister Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will run as representative of the first congressional district of Davao.

- The House of Representatives narrowly passes the budget legislation that will allow Republicans to pass its tax plan without Democratic help, paving way for $1.5 trillion tax cut that will be passed through each chamber before Thanksgiving, with the differences t then be hashed out before the end of the year, and then send a bill to President Donald Trump for his signature.

- A draft resolution from the United Nations would condemn attacks that sent over 600,000 Rohingya Muslims fleeing from Myanmar to Bangladesh and call on Myanmar's government to immediately halt military operations in Rakhine state.
